    Half a dozen +2 extra

While doing some work in the Mission, I walked by this little donut shop recently and became curious as a lively crowd formed at its colorful doorstep. This shop is small but mighty, bringing tasty and unique flavor to the donut game. Payment options being cash or Venmo, the prices cannot be beat either. At the counter, I ordered half a dozen to treat some of my coworkers and one of the owners threw in two extra. Each donut is like a masterpiece, created with just the right amount of batter, frosting, or sprinkle. And size only matters for your sugar rush. Whether passing through on foot, via car or BART, THIS is the stop for your morning donut craving.

Yeast donut with chocolate frosting was still fresh and moist at 5pm on a weeknight! I also enjoyed the cake donut that I tried. I'm not a huge donut person but I'd stop by again if I'm around. Very kind cashier, too!

Super friendly and smiling staff. Place smells like home with freshly made donuts. They need to put labels to what's what since everything looks good. They also stuffed the bag with extras without telling us - it was a nice surprise. Everything we had was fluffy and tasty.

I cannot recommend Jelly Donut enough. I ordered a ton of donuts from them on National Donuts Day for my birthday, and everyone raved about how delicious they were. We were able to try an assortment of their donuts, and all of them were SO good. They have every element that you want from a good donut without doing anything over-the-top or unnecessary--they definitely hit the spot when you just want solid classic donut. I also really enjoyed their Mango Filled Donut; the filling wasn't too sweet and was surprisingly refreshing. Aside from having phenomenal donuts, I think the owners of this shop are the best. It's so much fun chatting with them, and they just have the best energy. PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!

Quick & easy to walk up and order! They take cash, Venmo, and lots of other payment methods. Tons of flavors to choose from and you can also pre-order ahead if looking to get a dozen+ donuts. A few tables for seating but it's seems most people order to-go.

Just grabbed a donut and coffee, still good stuff and the staff was very nice. Glad to go there when in the Mission

Yummy donuts, soft if you like cake donuts this is for you. The matcha and strawberry were both so good.

I tried the apple fritter and french cruller donut. The apple fritter met expectations but isn't the top of my apple fritter list but still sits pretty high! The french cruller was the best I've ever tasted. It was soft and not too oily. The dough was bouncy and but also melted in your mouth after a few chews. The service was quick and a lady helped us out pick donuts. She was funny and her mood was uplifting. The shop itself is quaint and straight to the point with the donut case right when you walk in. It was around $20 for a dozen donuts and two apple fritters which felt like an awesome deal. We were also given two freebie donuts which is always appreciated :)

Awesome selection of assorted donuts and pastries to fill the need for your sweet tooth. Coffee served here as well. Front counter service was friendly and courteous with help to choose among the large selection of options. Only one table available for seating but isn't an issue since customers take their order to go.

There's no other donut shop I want to visit more than this great spot. Get yourself a few donuts and a few to share. Who doesn't love a donut?

Ask the Community - The Jelly Donut

    Do they take venmo?

    Yes

Does anyone know when they'll open again?

There's a note on the door saying they will re-open in June!

Are there any vegan donut options?

    Nope

Curious about this shop folks. Do they do custard/jelly filled doughnut holes too?

Not donut holes to my knowledge. But their custard and jelly donuts are on point! If you get a couple of those they'll likely throw in some regular holes too :)

Parking is super easy around the area, which is a rarity in SF. Shop is bright and airy, with the most adorable pastel color scheme. I ordered two of their milk chocolate donuts ($5 each), a key lime meringue donut ($6), a blueberry & lime donut ($5), and a caramel apple donut ($6). Donuts are on the pricier side, but the presentation and use of high quality ingredients makes up for it. The sourdough donuts themselves aren't nearly as sweet as standard donuts and have a soft, bouncy texture. The milk chocolate donut was absolutely decadent. Upon first bite, you can immediately tell this donut was topped with real melted milk chocolate. This was levels above a typical chocolate glazed donut. The flakey sea salt garnished on top balanced out the sweetness nicely. Although I will say that I found the richness of the chocolate to clash slightly with the tanginess of the sourdough donut. The key lime meringue donut had a super tart key lime filling and was topped with fluffy meringue. Definitely the most eye catching of the donuts I picked up. But the key lime filling was a bit too punchy and sour for my liking. The glaze on the blueberry & lime donut had a potent and fresh blueberry flavor that went well with the lime zest sprinkled on top. The caramel apple donut was my favorite. The caramelized apple filling paired with the cream cheese frosting and graham cracker crumbs was almost like eating an apple pie + cheesecake fusion but as a donut! Overall, a solid donut place that I'd return to if I'm ever in need of a special treat!

Weird. I've had bad donuts but never ever have I gotten a cold donut from a donut shop. Like the texture and temperature is what you'd expect from a donut you just pulled out of the refrigerator. We ate all four donuts anyway cuz donuts and hungry. But we won't be back. And if you're unsure, don't waste your time or money. Unless of course you like cold donuts.
