The location was kind of small, but felt cozy. I was there for a sandwich to-go, so the space wasn't too much of a problem for me. Cash only, so make sure to bring cash for sure! They're a really tiny shop with only two chairs and no restroom for customers, catering more for takeout orders. The staff are friendly and ask if you want jalapeños which I opt out of. I always love a good banh mi and given that I live in Little Saigon, there are always so many options. I was visiting in SF and didn't know where to go until I stumbled on Banh Mi House on Yelp. The proportion of each ingredient in the pictures were so enticing and to my surprise, when I opened mine up, it looked almost identical to the pictures! Let's start with parking, it's pretty tough given the street parking situation, but I was lucky to find a spot after a few minutes of circling around. FYI, this spot is cash only too. I ordered the Combination Pork w/ Extra Pate (trust) and this came out to just under $10. The food came out quick and even after driving 20 mins home, it was perfect when I opened it up. The proportion of each layer of ingredient and then the flavors of each bite was so perfect and I can't believe I only got one to share with my fiancé. I haven't been back here for years. Decided to give them a shot since I was in the area. I stood at the counter for about 2 minutes with no other customers inside other than myself. The staff member busy playing on her phone. I politely asked if I can get less ice on my Vietnamese iced coffee because I I know they put a lot of ice and I don't want 3/4 of my cup to be ice. I need the caffeine for a long shift. Despite me saying please, the staff member didn't respond verbally, and only nodded her head in contempt. When I received the cup of coffee, it was light iced indeed, but also only just above half a cup full. They did this to compensate because I politely asked for light ice. They act like their coffee is gold. Unbelievable. Oh yeah, the sandwich barely has any meat and is overpriced. Go figure. That's this business' MO. If this business is reading this, you guys really think doing this will help your business save? News flash, it doesn't. It will just only help you lose more customers, including me of course. Located on the corner of San Bruno Ave and Bacon St - fairly busy intersection and there's short term parking spaces on the street. Highly recommend calling in to place an order so you are in and out in a quickness. My friend recommended this place so I had to check it out. I got the combo pork which is roast pork, fancy pork, head cheese, and pate with everything included inside. I was surprised on how small it is compared to other banh mi places in the South Bay especially if it costs $7.50. To be honest, the bread was pretty good and everything inside seems pretty fresh and flavorful so I can see why this place is highly rated. I recommend calling and the. Double parking in front to pick up the food. They do make your drink when you arrive so be prepared to wait a minute or two. They have a selection of chips and drinks off to the side. Cash only but for a sandwich and Thai tea for less than 15$, I say it's worth it. The bread is also fresh and the ingredients are too. For a Banh Mi spot in the Portola Area, it's pretty decent. There's a lot of asian food spots on San Bruno and this one is certainly better tasting than most. It's a small store front that is typically staffed by three employees. One taking orders and two putting together sandwiches. There's only about three stools with a limited countertop for eating in so I would advise saving this as a take out option. Parking is pretty difficult. Hard to get meter parking spots and residential area is somewhat tricky. $8 for sandwiches is quite expensive for the sandwich size they offer. I wish the meat to veggie ratios were better and that the bread was toasted more but overall flavor and taste is good. It's a quick fix to satisfy my banh mi craving but not for too long. read more

While it's nice to not get overwhelmed by an extensive menu, you have to like at least one of their options. They also have a few deli items you can purchase like a pork cake loaf and nem. I love nem but they were out of it. SANDWICH: I went with the combination pork ($8) and five spiced chicken ($7.50) sandwiches. The combination pork sandwich contained roast pork, pork cake, and headcheese. It tasted like your normal combination sandwich. The five spiced chicken was moist though lacked flavor. Where the sandwiches fell short here was the bread. It was toasted but a tad hard and the bf had to listen to me complain about the scratched roof of my mouth. I was in the area for an errand and happened to see Banh Mi House on the corner of San Bruno Ave/Bacon. Looked them up on Yelp and saw lots of positive reviews! I had to grab dinner to bring home that day anyways and decided to buy 2 sandwiches for my husband and and myself. I got the COMBINATION PORK and FIVE SPICE CHICKEN SANDWICHES. Both sandwiches were a good portion with lots of meat and pickled veggies (I skipped jalapeños). The French rolls seemed fresh with a crusty exterior and fluffy middle. I personally liked the five spice chicken a bit more because of the flavor and moist meat. However the pork combo is still a solid sandwich. I may try the grilled pork next time if I am nearby. They seemed to adhere to all COVID safety guidelines with staff wearing masks and gloves while taking orders and preparing food. There are stickers on the floor indicating where to stand 6 feet part. I ordered and just waited outside until my food was ready (took only a few minutes). The best part about this...both sandwiches were only $12.50 total!! That's a steal in the SF Bay Area. When my mom came home with these sandwiches that day I was super happy. I was like "FINALLY SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO EAT". I've been there before several times but that was before I started yelping. So this is what my mom brought home: - 4 chicken banh mi (2 with jalapeno and 2 without) I got one that had no jalapeno. It was delicious! The chicken is tender and the sandwich itself is packed with lots of carrots, cucumber and cilantro. The inside of the bread is smothered in a mayo-like sauce so you don't have to worry about the bread being dry. Surprisingly, I was full from that one sandwich.
