I love Happy Donut! My favorite are the donut holes or the classic glaze! The employees are always so nice:)

1st Let me say, not ALL Happy Donut franchises are great, this one is The Bomb ! When I'm not in the area to get to Bob's on Polk Street, this is also my #1 spot for killer donuts and dangerously close to my house or rather decent driving distance. The gals behind the counter are always so nice and friendly. The place is really clean, coffee always hot and ready. I really appreciate the fact they have other things "besides the great donuts". Good selection of breakfast bagel sandwiches and ever so reasonable. Had my 1st one yesterday, bacon, egg, swiss and it was so good and so filling. My fave donut is their Maple Bar (no filling), super fresh, great maple taste and not the slightest bit greasy or tasting of grease, which is yucky. Yesterday I also bought a mixed dozen to take to friends, which they all seemed to love, who wouldn't. The one that looked Great (Buttermilk Bar glazed and w/chocolate) was quite disappointing. It's huge, pretty doughy, little "buttermilk taste" and once the chocolate was gone, it was just a big doughy blob. Rather I should say, not what I'm used to when ordering a Buttermilk Bar any place else. Otherwise, this place is "danger, danger" as all the donuts are fresh, look so good and who can eat "just 1". read more

National Donut Day Edition: There are a few places in San Francisco which is open 24 hours in the city especially 24/7. There not many places where the party people can congregate at 4am. Over the years there have been less places to get something to drink or eat in San Francisco after 3am. There is one place for decades has hosted the party people to recover over a long night of partying or working the graveyard shift or getting ready for the day when the sun comes out. It's one of the last remaining places in SF still open 24 hours and is located on 24th street. Walking on Church street I landed on 24th street at Happy Donuts. If you don't know Happy Donuts then you really don't know San Francisco. A good place not only to get donuts but also flakey croissant breakfast sandwiches with cheese , eggs ,and ham in SF. If you are on a Midnight ride or waiting for the morning light and the sun to come up and looking to get something sweet and cheerful go to Happy Donuts. It's open everyday of the week in San Francisco 24 hours on 24th street . After a night party and after the "craze"there is a place to hang out 24 hours still around from back in the "days"which is still around selling donuts that are "glaze"and with questions in my mind of why aren't there in SF any new 24 hour "cafes ?" A donut place that is 24/7. Donuts taste fresh! Different flavors of coffee with multiple pots on the burner for self serve. Street parking is available but maybe tricky pending the hour you visit. There are table booths (maybe 4?) up against the window if you want to sit down for a minute or two and enjoy your coffee & donut combo if you need a moment to yourself. Friendly staff. I wish I could tell you that I had more here than a delicious Chocolate Donut but I didn't and if that's all I had to say about Happy Donuts this review should end right here. The fact is, I sat down at a table to enjoy my donut and while doing so I kept eyeballing not just the other donuts in the cases but the great big sandwich menu with prices that seemed as though they'd not been updated since pre-pandemic. So I can't speak to the quality of Happy Donuts' sandwiches but based on the quality of their donuts I'm betting they're good and at these prices I'd say that's great! Sorry, Bob -- but these have been the BEST donuts in San Francisco (and maybe the Bay Area?) for almost two decades of my life! I read in an old article that they opened sometime in the 70's -- so they are easily going on 50+ years of business. Their atmosphere is quaint and the service is practical. You're not going to get a warm hug until you get a donut in your mouth. If I had to name my favorite of the bunch, it would definitely be their apple fritter. It's absolutely perfect. Their cake donuts, old fashions, bars and sprinkle varieties are divine. I love this donut shop more than words can express. While my go-to donut shop (Donut World) has never been in danger of not being my go-to donut shop, I've long been curious about this particular Happy Donuts. Primarily because I'd always heard good things about them, but also because there are so many Happy Donuts in SF (and down the Peninsula). I mean, with so many locations scattered around, they must be pretty good, right? Not that I ever needed a reason beyond my fondness of donuts to check out another donut shop...ha! In almost every way, this Happy Donuts looks like any other neighborhood donut shop in the city. it's located on a corner (24th and Church, it's got that mom-and-pop vibe, and their display cases are filled with your typical array of donuts, like jelly filled, raised, old fashioned, and cinnamon twists. You won't really find any of the trendier flavors and styles that other places have, but it's not like there's anything wrong with sticking with the traditional staples either. As interesting as some of those offerings may be, my usual order, and my personal favorites, will always include the classics! Compared to my favorite CHOCOLATE OLD FASHIONED ($1.95) at Donut World, this one isn't quite as good. Still, it's pretty decent. The texture/color of the donut itself was a bit dark (maybe it sat in the oil too long?), but the icing on it had a great, chocolate flavor. As for their APPLE FRITTER ($3.50), it's probably one of the best I've had! The outside was crispy and perfectly golden while the inside was moist, not too doughy, and not overly sweet. It also felt a bit smaller than others I've had, but considering how tasty it was, I would've wanted this to be bigger regardless. As far as service goes, I've seen a few reviews mention that the staff isn't exactly the warmest/friendliest, but I thought the lady who helped me was perfectly fine. Granted, we didn't exactly have a lengthy interaction, but she seemed nice enough. If anything, I'd rather they do a really good job with their sandwiches and breakfast bagels, which look good in the photos. Too bad this isn't one of the Happy Donuts that also offers a multitude of more uncommon offerings from a donut shop; apparently some have burgers, banh mi, rice plates, and noodle soups? I guess I'll just have to "settle" for this one being one of the few places in SF that's open 24/7, which is probably even better than those random menu options! read more

Super disappointed in this place. They must be paying off the health inspector to get a passing grade because they have cockroaches in plain sight but don't care. We said hey there is a huge mama cockroach crawling across the eggs on the counter and the woman working was not even phased. Yikes, Clean your place and get serv safe certified please! Was happy to find a place super close to the Airbnb I stay at when I come in town for work. But then today I brought my own skinny coffee mug so I could save a cup/be green and walk back with it hot. The staff person scowled at me and asked how many ounces my cup was. It's a Ripple bottle, and didn't have the ounces listed, but it can't be more than 20 oz., same as their large cups. She was irritated with me. Mind you, I frequented this place every morning and was saving her a cup this time. With new establishments popping up charging inflated prices for mediocre, but pretty product, I appreciate old-school spots like Happy Donuts in Noe Vally. The good-natured store owner & her family (three generations present the weekend I came in), donuts in traditional flavors, & reasonable prices harken back to a simpler time, like the 90s, & it is comforting. My maple bar was filled on-the-spot with custard. The apple fritter that was big enough to share was one of the better ones in SF; no old-oil taste, moist, & freshly fried. My companions who tried the chocolate raised & crumb-cake donut were impressed with both quality & taste. Perfect score across the board & that's why we'll continue to patronize this specific location of a well-known purveyor of carbs & happiness. read more

They're donuts are so delicious and not a greasy donut that will leave you burping all day. They are doughy, fresh, soft, pretty, and delicious! They're coffee is hot! First time I ever had a hot apple fritter found this place at like 1130 at night. Absolutely amazing and I will be back.

As advertised, this corner institution provides happiness to all those who enter. I used to walk a half an hour to this place every so often just because they are one of the few donut places that still do cinnamon sugar cake donuts. This place hasn't changed in years which is just perfect . Donuts are great, the coffee is decent and the staff is friendly , You get all walks of life in here, and everyone who stops here seems to have a slight smile on their face , because, well, donuts and coffee make people happy .My son looks forward to stopping here on his way to daycare, and I sure hope this place sticks around for many years to come. read more

Noe Valley's best donut and sandwich shop, on 24th. Freshly made donuts, can't go wrong with anything, but their buttermilk, French cruller, old fashioned are delicious. They also have breakfast sandwiches (on bagels) or croissants. Savoury sandwiches on croissants have a variety from ham, turkey, roast beef, tuna or chicken salad.
