The serving is twice as big I've already eaten some....2 giant scoops of rice and a lot of chicken teriaki!!

This teriyaki place has the nicest people there's people that work there and and I think the freshest stickiest white rice and amazing chicken teriyaki I've had almost ever... In fact I cannot really think of a place that is better than this. They are always happy too to serve you and the food is hot and delicious. There to go time is very short for waiting to get your dish. They're in a convenient location shopping center in University Place. And they are just lovely people and really an example of christians of christians which they are it's really cool they play soccer play some worship music low in the background , and one time I heard it and asked, and their faces lit up because of the joy they have in running a honest good business with quality food and a lovely attitude.

So if you are looking for a feast on a budget, then welcome to Happy Hana. My friend took me here when I was in town and I will forever go back. We both got a double meat plate. I got chicken teriyaki and orange chicken. My friend got beef and teriyaki chicken. The plates come with two heaping mounds of white rice and a nice side salad. I am not a big fan of salad but I quickly devoured everything else. The teriyaki chicken was moist and supple and they don't shy away from the sauce. The orange chicken was fried to perfection and smothered in orange goodness. The rice was so hot and fresh it was steaming when it arrived. I also got a coke which was as crisp as the day is long. We also got egg drop soup. I am not a huge fan since its basically chicken noodle with veggies but I could've drunk the soup liquid portion. It was so flavorful. One of the only places I actually like their soup. They played Christian music the entire time which was nice. Very family-friendly. The service was so passionately nice and caring I really felt taken care of. The tables were clean when we arrived and the entire restaurant was spotless for being the dinner rush. The owners really care. I will go back once I am in town. It is worth making a trip out.

Hana platters are $21 and feed 4...though it says for 2!

Bottom Line: inexpensive, solid teriyaki with attentive service in a clean, bright space. Punch card alert! Buy 10 meals, get one free. To be clear, I rank things "like against like". For fast food, Happy Hana is nothing unusual but it's solid. It's inexpensive, has a decent variety, the kids like it and is totally reliable when you need a quick lunch. There's a lot to be said about that holy combo of cheap, consistent and clean! The owners here are friendly and smart. The lunch menu is almost entirely $6 combos and cover the usual territory, teriyaki with katsu, gyoza, yakisoba, etc. The portions are generous. Speaking of generous, if you're a pop freak like me - you'll appreciate the aggressive way Happy Hana refills your soda. Taste wise: The chicken is good, but I would stay away from the beef teriyaki - it had the look and texture of having been boiled. The egg rolls are your typical, cheap egg rolls. All the fried food is fine - the gyoza and katsu were good, the tempura suffered from over thick batter(but was on par with most teriyaki joints). My daughter loved the yakisoba (her "go to" meal at these types of joints). Worth noting to families or big groups: the Hana Platters (http://s3-media1.ak.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/X8O7u_msN_CfnwnRq9SgnQ/l.jpg). There are about 4 different combos - each platter has about six items and cost about $22. They advertise that it's enough food for 2, but this would easily feed 4 medium appetites. A nice price with some variety. In closing - you can get your basic bubble tea fix here, but be aware the flavor choices are limited and they don't have jellies or custard.

A lot of food for &5.95! Fresh & tasty too!

This place probably is a 4 star for me but since University Place has somehow managed to loose a lot of its "good" restaurant in the span of the last 10 years I'd hate to see another one close up! The lunch specials are a great deal @ $5.95 which consists of combo plate meal and a canned beverage of your choice. I had the Teriyaki Chicken and Mongolian Beef Combo and both were pretty tasty. The portions are just right and everything is super fresh!! I will recommend dining in because I've noticed food seems to taste better right out of the kitchen on a plate vs being put in a steamy togo box. If you are looking for a good lunch spot in U.P. then please be sure to check this place out!

Great flavors, fast service and super friendly staff! Their tofu teriyaki is better than most teriyaki places in the area!

5 out of 5 AYCE for sure! First time visiting Sumo Sushi & Grill last weekend with my family and we…read morehad such a great experience! (FYI, for weekends and holidays, you'll be charged the dinner price all day). Since it was our first time, our server kindly explained how the ordering system works. You place your sushi orders through one phone with a limit of 15 items every 15 minutes. Drinks and refills are recommended to be ordered directly through your server so they don't take up item slots. Even if you order less than 15 items, you still wait the 15 minutes before placing another round. It sounds a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple! One of the cutest parts of the experience was having our food delivered by a little robot server with a cat face. Just make sure to grab the food from the section glowing blue so you don't accidentally take another table's order. Super fun and honestly memorable! By the time we were getting full, my family joked that the cat face looked menacing, because we were hoping no more food would be brought to our table lol. The orders don't all arrive at the same time and some can be delayed, so I'd suggest somewhat trying to keep track of your orders if you don't want to go overboard. The sashimi was delicious and the portions are HUGE, so definitely pace yourself because they do charge for leftovers. My son got a little too excited and overordered, so we ended up paying the leftover fee. However, I was genuinely impressed that Sumo Sushi actually allows you to take leftovers home, even with the fee included. I mean, you'll have to pay the fee either way, but I've never been to an AYCE sushi restaurant that allowed leftovers as takeout before. I really respect how serious they are about reducing food waste. They also have a small buffet section you can grab already prepared/cooked food from while waiting for your sushi orders. My absolute favorites were the miso soup, seafood boil(?), and the tempura fish that lives rent free in my head (I should have asked if I could order that fish for takeout!). They also had other hot foods, meats, and seafood options that were tasty. The dessert section was more basic (flan, jello, fortune cookies, etc.), so I skipped dessert this time (besides the fortune cookies hehe). The service, in general, was fantastic. While we were dining, a child nearby celebrated a birthday with their family and the staff went ALL OUT singing happy birthday with light-up decorations and so much energy. It was adorable and way more effort than most restaurants put in. My only small critique is that the "French Fries" listed on the menu are actually sweet potato fries. They tasted good, and I normally like sweet potatoes, but it definitely caught us off guard because it wasn't what we expected. When we left, the staff kindly said goodbye to us, including an older gentleman near the door who consistently seemed focused on customer service and even asked if we wanted condiments packed with our leftovers. We had such a lovely experience and I would consider Sumo Sushi as probably one of the better AYCE sushi spots in the area. We'll definitely be back!

Below average. In…read morefact, if I had visited the Sumo AYCE in Tacoma before I tried the one in Burlington, I doubt I would have ever walked into Burlington's Sumo. It was Father's Day, so of course it was busy. But the food was subpar, it came out in indefinable intervals, and we weren't really checked on at all. The sushi - when it finally showed up - was good, but the grilled beef was fatty and greasy. The Chicken 'Katsu' was soggy. Some items - despite taking what seemed like forever to arrive - felt and tasted like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. Horrible experience for $100. We won't be back.

Love the fact that it's open 24 hours but their prices are absolutely insane unless it's on sale.
