We own a single vacation rental in San Diego for which Happy Host provides a cleaning service. We live in the adjacent unit on site so we are able to observe their work pretty closely. I waited to write this review for nearly a year to determine the consistency of this service. I'm pleased to say that Happy Host is excellent. Sometimes, something was missed during cleaning or the coordination was poor, but these issues are few and far between. Happy Host has corrected these issues on the fly and offered great communication. We have been impressed that they can find a cleaner on short notice even for last minute check-out/check-ins that happen the same day. This requires having a cleaner ready to go within hours in some cases. Happy Host integrates perfectly with AirBnB and has made cleaning completely turn-key. The service has paid for itself since we don't require any downtime to clean the unit ourselves between guests. I noticed older reviews commenting on some dissatisfaction, but it is clear that the service has improved over the years read more

I have been with Happy Host for too many years for me to remember! When I found Happy Host I was so happy to find a service that could also offer my guest the same quality as a hotel. They also really cut down the amount of time it takes to clean my home by bringing their own freshly pressed white linens. It's easier to flip from check out to check in now. They also make the bookings easy by being able to plug into my air B and B account and I don't even have to call them to schedule. They automatically know when the home needs to be cleaned. They have always had great customer service and have gone above and beyond my needs and my guests needs. Happy host steals guests phone numbers without the Airbnb hosts knowledge and then solicits them to do a survey about cleaning satisfaction without the Airbnb hosts knowledge. That way the guest complains to happy host and the person paying happy host has no idea about the terrible service they paid for. Very shady. Happy host breaks their contract whenever they want. Happy host tells you if you make them a co host it's only to schedule your calendar. That is not true they steal guests phone numbers and spam them. Their terms and service sent to me said they did include dishwashing but when a guest had a problem with dirty dishes they "weren't doing dishes anymore." The linens were worse than motel 6 and always had mascara or yellow stains. I have many pictures. Guests constantly complained about cleanliness and one guest actually left and I had to refund part of the stay. Happy Host won't refund you any money for leaving your house filthy or always rescheduling you and being late. If things were left broken or stained by guests happy host never told us. We found our blinds ripped off the wall and shoved in a closet no one ever told us. Other times we have found broken lamps and pots shoved into a closet with no communication to us. Happy host charges you a $50 fee to get familiar with your property but somehow can never find the stock room or know where to park, ect, they pretty much just pocket that money. Happy host does not care about your business and they don't even care about their own business. It is a total joke. These other reviews don't seem to be from real customers it's so sleazy to have your friends review you or to pay for them. But I guess that's what you have to do if you don't understand how to be ethical or how to run a good business. I only used them so long because I was out of town. Save your time and save your superhost status, Im losing mine because of these alleged happy hosts. read more

Happy Host has made my Airbnb management run infinitely smoother. I highly recommend them if you are an Airbnb owner! Their strategy of making themselves a co-host means that they automatically schedule cleanings the moment you get a booking, which completely eliminates me as the middle man, a huge time saver. Because they restock items, I also save tons of time not shopping for toiletries. Every cleaning has been very well done, with some minor exceptions such as curtains not being straightened, etc. They are not consistent in some of their claimed methods - texting when a housekeeper is on their way, notifying me when a cleaning is booked, etc. However, the customer service has been prompt and nothing but exceptional every single time I have reached out to them with any issue. We worked with Happy Host for our 4-bedroom vacation home for 6 months and they did approximately 15 turnovers on our property. At each turnover, significant items were missed, such as bathroom trash cans not emptied or the fridge not cleaned. The "inspection report" that they advertise was inconsistent (I received it approximately half the time) and when received, not helpful because the caretakers would check everything off, regardless of whether the line item was completed or not completed. I spoke with the office repeatedly and there was no improvement in cleaning quality over the six month period. My property managers were having to spend 1-2 additional hours cleaning after each turnover, and we began to receive guest complaints and lost our 5-star host rating. Their linens are also extremely poor quality. My family stayed in the house for a week and the sheet on my bed was covered with thousands of tiny pills. Finally, and most seriously, on two occasions, they left the french door to our front deck unlocked, and on two additional occasions, they left the sliding door to our backyard unlocked upon leaving. read more

I love the concept of Happy Host. Linen service and text notifications upon arrival/departure are much needed services in the industry....... and the only reason I stuck with them for our 2 rentals over the summer. Their linens are most definitely not "hotel quality" as advertised and don't even include fitted sheets. On more than one occasion, the linens were so bad that I had to swap them out with extra ones I had at home. They even once made the bed without a mattress pad (and didn't inform me that it was missing). Cleanings were rushed and there was absolutely no attention to detail. More than once I found layers of sand on counters and end tables, food smears on tables and debris on the tile. Some cleaners were better than others, but my requested cleaners were rarely assigned to my units (a 1 bedroom and a studio). I often spent an hour (or more) cleaning after Happy Host had left. The week that I was out of town and could not do this, I received a complaint and had to refund their cleaning fee. I've recently switched cleaning companies and I'm wondering why I waited so long. I now walk into my units and can't find a single thing that needs to be done..... windowsills are cleaned, walls and cabinets are wiped down, and all surfaces are spotless. And I'm paying less. I only wish I had known about Happy Host sooner! When I realized that I could no longer do all of the cleaning and laundry myself I transitioned to cleaners and fluff and fold service. While this was helpful, I still had to spend a significant amount of time carting dirty and clean sheets back and forth to my properties and dealing with cleaners who just weren't up to par. I was lucky enough to run into Kelly and my problems were solved. Using Happy Host was pretty idiot proof on my end and saved me a ton of time as well as money. While I recently transitioned away from short-term rentals, I have and will continue to use Happy Host for move-in/move-out cleanings and would highly recommend to others! read more

I found that hiring a traditional housekeeper wasn't working well with my vacation rental because when the guests got makeup on a towel/mascara on the pillowcases etc. they would never get clean in the wash right away--and they needed to be dried and put back on the beds that day, so it just wasn't working. A friend told me about HappyHost and I will never go back! The owner has really thought of everything. My guests now arrive to a sparkling clean property with perfect linens.
