Bingsu/Korean shaved ice is a regular fave of mine but they tend to be very dairy-based and it can be difficult to find a place w/ something similar in texture and that has dairy-free options. And this place has just that. This is the perfect spot for those looking for more fruit-centric refreshing flavors or even the sweet pastry-inspired dessert selections! A small portion of water ice is approximately 3-4 sizable scoops! And a small portion of the gelati (water ice + soft serve) specialty is approximately the size of a McDonald's parfait. My partner got the summertime (strawberry, cherry, watermelon(?) flavor and I got the peach cobbler inspired cup with gelati. I was hoping they'd have the apple pie one but it wasn't listed on the menu when we were there. Regardless, still a very tasty and amazing treat to cool down with! Service was helpful and you're welcome to try samples of anything. Was very shocked to see that employees manually swirl/mix flavors while scooping rather than have tub with pre-swirled flavors. I love Happy Ice since I discovered them about 5 years ago at a Vegan Festival. Then I stopped by their Melrose location. I had my company cater them. But I didn't know about the Northridge location and I had to stop by once I saw it. I ordered something completely different, it was the Pineapple Upside Cake and it was sooooo good and refreshing. This was my first time trying Happy Ice, and I genuinely couldn't decide between one of their classic flavors or one of the Joylati specials. I ended up ordering the Banana Pudding in a small. I was expecting more of the signature Happy Ice, but the dessert was mostly custard. There was custard on both the bottom and top with a relatively small scoop of banana Happy Ice in the middle. Because of that, the banana flavor ended up getting a bit lost and wasn't nearly as prominent as I had hoped. That said, whenever I was able to get a bite of just the banana Happy Ice, I enjoyed it much more. It was refreshing and made me wish there had been more of it. Next time, I'd probably skip the specialty option and order one of the plain Happy Ice flavors instead. Overall, it's still a solid dessert spot in the area, and I'd definitely come back to try one of their classic flavors. This is my normal place for my choice of dessert normally I have decent experiences but this last time ticked me off not sure if its because the workers think they are all that or the business got a big head for getting more followers lately , but I went in to get my usual and I was met with complete attitude from the worker she was talking it up with some people that came in being distracted and flirting with them while completely forgetting one of my orders then to top it off she got mad I reminded her as I patiently waited for 5 minutes in the crowded small room full of people .
