I have used them several times over the past few years but today they insisted that I furnish them with vet records showing the "expiration date" of the parvovirus vaccine my two dogs received. I told them I had a receipt from the vet's office which showed they received their parvo vaccines yesterday. They said they still needed vet records showing the expiration date to "protect the groomers." I assured them that parvo vaccinations administered yesterday have not expired. (I did not see any point in letting them know that the parvovirus carried by dogs is not transmissable to humans.) They still needed the records. I guess its time to change groomers. read more

Happy K9 is the top-notch beauty shop for my three dogs. Yesterday was Pepper's turn. She is very old and mostly Aussie. She has been shedding nonstop since winter started so I knew it was time for a. D shedding treatment along with the tails to toes package! No more getting out the vacuum or broom every day with wads of hair everywhere. The staff is really sweet and always does a great job, but this was a very big job for them to undertake on a Saturday afternoon. She is smooth as silk smells no more and no more shedding! I have been coming here for about a year now with my Giant Schnauzer. This boy typically needs a bath in between his shaves. So I take him here for a self service bath. They have a great set up with the shampoos/conditioners, scrubby things, and even hypoallergenic shampoo. I have had no issues with this location, nor have I had any issues with the staff. read more

This review is for the Happy K-9 self serve dog wash only. Full service care is likely much better and surely no less of a bargain. This was our first visit here for self-serve. My pup and I came here in a pinch (extra stinky pup lent some urgency to the matter) after our usual self-serve wash turned us away because they close their wash at 5. Kudos to Happy K-9 for recognizing that 9-5ers also need to wash their dogs. We squeaked in at 5.20 (last wash at 5.30) and the attendant on duty begrudgingly let us in. Bathtime is usually a bonding experience for the two of us. She pretends she hates the experience and I pretend I feel sorry for her. At happy k-9's self serve wash , the role playing was over and pretend became real life. - The wash stall itself is oversized. My 25 lb pup was lost in there and with my shorter stature , I struggled over the tall rim of the stall to reach her. She cowered in a corner while I chased her down with the hose from an uncomfortable distance. - shampoo was terribly watered down. Maybe this is due to the brand of shampoo? Maybe this is the way the pros do it? Or Happy K-9 adds water to economize. In any case, it didn't feel like we were getting much cleaner. The attendant on duty confirmed on checkout that guests often prefer to bring their own product. - the dryer blew only cold air (as far as I could tell? Maybe there is a way to infuse warmer air but said attendant was busy elsewhere and did not offer direction or drop by to check on us after confirming this was our first visit for self serve) . I'm used to lukewarm air from our usual wash. No idea what "professionals" use - maybe this is it - but neither of us liked it very much. - the cost !! $17 for uncomfortable self serve with watered down product , cold dryer air and ambivalent service ? This is 1/3 more than our usual spot which offers more comfortable stalls , better product , warm dryers , and a nice doggy chamois to finish the drying. (Plus a nice grassy lawn in front so said pup can water the grass and read the news after her bath) In summary , I'm hesitant to recommend this spot for self serve - especially if you and your dog are short or you don't tote your own doggy shampoo in your trunk. I do have a newfound appreciation for Pets West - west of town - and in retrospect forgive them for their unwieldy dog wash hours that sent us packing to Happy K-9. read more

This place used to be my favorite! Always helpful and super sweet to my dog and foster dogs. But lately the scheduling issues with making appointments and then the day before calling to tell me they've overbook (this has happened twice) and I don't even get a "I'm so sorry this happened". There's no empathy from them anymore or willingness to help solve the scheduling problems they created. I ended up going to a different establishment all together. And now their groomers don't work on Friday or Saturday?! I truly don't understand the changes that are being made here. I unfortunately won't be a returning customer anymore. I have taken all my three dogs here for almost five years and I have been happy with them. Lately though, I haven't been able to get an appointment and sometimes had to wait for months. There are always new groomers every time I go there nowadays. The last time I took my little 10 pounder he was badly cut on this neck and the groomer didn't let me know. I noticed when I got him home that he was bleeding and 5 days later he is still in pain and has a big open sore on his neck. I understand that accidents happen but the fact that they groomer didn't find it necessary to let me know is unacceptable. She charged me the full amount and I tipped her 20%. The groomer's name is Lisa and this was the first time I used her for my baby. I have gone back twice to talk to a manager but I haven't been able to find one. Wish could give less than 1 first I arrived and stood there over 5 mins, she was assisting someone who had dog in tub but there wasn't hi I'll be right with you I didnt even know she worked there. Second a lid maybe 6 was in there was left alone with dogs ( yes Multiple) in tub multiple times swinging vacuum hose around scaring my dog. The child was running and throwing stuff and adding unneeded stress to the animals around not to mention the poor dog that had to go with him. We had a really fun trip going to Happy K9 to bathe Yoshi the corgi They had everything we needed and then some! Things that I had not even thought of! All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was very easy. The price was affordable and pretty reasonable. I would go again for sure. The only thing...it was kind of close quarters and it made me nervous being in such close proximity to some really big dogs. I worried about my baby. But they all seemed to do well with it. Stay away!! I took my Australian Shepard here earlier this week and asked for a bath and trim, specifically said no shaving. When I went to pick my Aussie up and they brought him out I was horrified. They shaved his entire body including his face, "curtains" and chest hair completely off. They shaved him so close they knicked his neck which I didn't notice until the next day when he was itching it. He now has a terrible wound on his neck. I am beside myself and my dog looks ridiculous and was actually harmed. Not to mention it's winter and he barely has a coat left!! read more

I am so disappointed with this place. I'm appalled and I will never go here again. I took my dog for his first ever "professional grooming" and it was anything but. My poor pup needed a groom for his birthday. He also had a planned play date. They called me and told me they dropped him off the grooming table and his back leg was hurt. They tried to soften the blow by telling me that he was ok he was playing and all and I signed and incident report. After that I get my total. $81. The groom job was botched. He has a huge bald choppy spot behind his ears, he still smelled weird when I picked him up, he had a cut on his foot and he was also hurt. Now I have to take the rest of the day off work to take him to a vet that I don't even know because they won't let me take him to his vet if I want them to pay. This place is horrible. I asked for the owners name and I was told that they could not disclose that information. Today is my boy's birthday and now he can't even play because it his place hurt him. I had to ask for a refund after seeing the other injuries on him. I've done a better job at grooming him myself. Save your money. Better yet, save your pet. read more

It's taken me a few weeks to get my bearings about the poor service we received. We are a military family and returning customers after moving out of state. We had no issues when we lived here before with this grooming salon so my family and I thought it would be nice to go back. My dog has had three groomers In the last 7 months. This last one is the reason we will not be returning. His normal groomer was out sick on medical leave and per the receptionist they were sure if she was coming back. I decided to give their temp groomer a chance. My dog has grooming anxiety but he is always medicated. Well...it seemed the moment they heard me say that she automatically was going to charge me the holding fee. When I was told he wouldn't let her do his face I was surprised because his other groomer had no issues with him. So a normally $60 groom cost me almost $80. I did not tip. When they brought him to me his head was still soaking wet like he had just gotten out of the bath. His face wasn't clean, he still had eye gunk from his tear stains, his head was cut so uneven that it had tufts of hair sticking up in strange places. As a result of this his ears were matted as well. Horrible groomer whoever she was. She was not very friendly when she did his pre grooming assessment. Beware...if you have a dog with anxiety they will treat you and your pet like trash. read more

Everything was so easy. Making the appointment, they called my vet to verify vaccinations, drop-off/pick-up were quick and simple... and the staff was all very knowledgeable and friendly. The shop was so cute, very clean, and my Pup is happy! She had to get shaved because her fur got matted under a sweater she had. But she still looks great! Oh, my goodness. We drove an hour with our 6 month Goldendoodle wild man to try the self-wash. Trip was exhausting. Precious pup, but wiggly and excited. Spilled our coffee on himself, so he really needed a bath by the time we got there. Happy K9 was just wonderful. Helped us tame our exuberant pup, showed us what to do, and stepped in with tips when we were making things harder than they had to be. Had an appointment today at 0800 AM., no one, I repeat NO ONE had the courtesy to call me and inform that the groomer was not coming in. This is a terrible business practice for one, and to not even call the customer before they arrive to the appointment shows lack of common courtesy and customer service. Plus, the audacity for one of the workers to try an apologize, and then say that if I reschedule at the Camp Bowie location, there might not be any appointments. I have used this business for a while and continued when I moved, and not calling a customer who lives farther from the business to inform the groomer did not show, is basically ignorant and blatantly an inexcusable business practice. Not only did they lose a longtime customer, but also I will inform all social media outlooks of the terrible business practice they have in place when an appointment is scheduled but the groomer does not show up. read more

Very friendly! Very clean! Very professional! Took my dog to do a self wash and his ears were too matted to wash and he wasn't up-to-date on his shots to be groomed. But they helped me bathe him without getting his ears wet (which would have made the mats worse). My 3 kids just ran around and chatted and watched!
