    Half and half broth
    Yenah J.

The food was great! We got the premium meat which I think was worth it. We did a half and half with the broth - half regular and half spicy. Even the hot bar was pretty good. I got the fries and a chicken wing. They had other stuff like eggrolls. My friend said other hot pot places have more ingredients/veggies, but I don't mind at all because it had all the things I normally eat anyway. I love how the sauce bar had three recipes to follow at the top. Sometimes when I'm creating my own sauce I'm a little lost so it was great to just follow a popular recipe from them. They also had fountain drinks and tea, and they had boba for an extra $5. The waiters were nice and attentive to our large group. The only thing I wish was if they could tell us which meat was which. I tried asking a couple times but he wasn't sure lol. But just a small detail. Plenty of parking. I believe we made a reservation on a Tuesday night and it was quite busy! Overall had a great time and was super appreciative that they let us split the bill multiple ways. Lastly, they also have dessert like ice cream and cake.

Maybe it got better now? I went awhile ago for my broth day but never got the chance to review this place. It's so near our church and accessible so we wanted to try it. Heard fun things so it this place. I wanted to like it more. The broth is good but definitely acquired taste. The group I went with did not like it at all. The spicy was too spicy to them and the other is too odd. And yes they went a fan of lamb :/ I was though. Thought the meat quality was good and the spread we get to get from the buffet line to put in the hot pot was fine BUT the cooked foods were NOT fresh at all. It was dinner time but I feel no one touched those items so it was all just sitting there stale. Even the wings UNTIL I asked for more and out came the fresh a that was good. I did like the your own drink station area but it wasn't clean. The dessert too. It was just not appetizing. Overall, I want to like it more but wish things were fresh. It would make a world of difference. Not sure if I will come back unless someone insisted. Soupleaf is still my go to for hot pot yes not Szechuan but so clean and fresh over there. I like places that keep things simpler but fresher

New menu featuring the new pay by plate & limited options.

I want to preface this review by saying that my partner and I are regulars. Like regulars regulars. We have been going to this Happy Lamb location since they opened, at least 2 times a month, sometimes more. We go here so often because it WAS the best hot pot place we have tried since moving from Houston. We love the staff, they know us and take good care of us, and we tip them well. We also drive an hour just to visit. HOWEVER, the last few months we have noticed the food quality has declined drastically. The meat is freezer burnt, tastes lower quality and now comes out mostly frozen. There have also been increased prices along with the lowered quality. Raising prices due to inflation is understandable, lowered quality while doing so is not. Tonight was the final straw for us, and we will be exploring competitors to find a new hot pot restaurant to frequent. This week, this location rolled out a new menu to "make it less confusing" which included cutting the meat selection down by 2/3rds, implementing a single tier for the 5 meat options you have and roughly 3 other options that are $6.99 pay by plate. We loved the all you can eat, single price or tiered system Happy Lamb had, and we can't get behind the pay by plate system with crappy quality. As much as we love seeing the staff, we will be taking a loooong break from supporting this new structure. Our advice to the owner, as a customer and as 2 people who have seen the success of other hot pot restaurants in Houston, is to re-impliment the tiered system, train the newer staff to explain it clearly, set the premium tier price to roughly $40 a person and revert it to AYCE again. Don't skimp on quality. The price reflects the meat options, you can cover the meat costs and it makes it more reasonable over all for a nice dinner out. Best of luck to you.

Happy Lamb Hot Pot. All you can eat hotpot. Usually pretty busy, so there'll be a wait unless you come during an off-hour. They have a "classic" and "premium" option for meat, which is basically what you pay to access. For broths, they have a variety; you can get a single, two, three, or even four. And, depending on which category you chose, you can pick whatever meats you'd like. Afterwards, the buffet area is free game. There's a sauce bar that was pretty clean when I was there. The buffet area has all the hot pot ingredients. Seafood is on the center island. They also have cooked side dishes. I'm not a native hotpot-ian, but I do find that their broths are actually quite salty. You'll notice this at the beginning and also throughout your meal as the broth loses water content. To me, this signals that you should NOT drink the broth. Seating is comfortable and boothy. They don't appear to provide bibs or aprons to protect your clothing. That's fine. Bathrooms are nice. Decor is floral.

I still like this place, use to love it, but as a regular customer I'm discouraged. When I go in for lunch, there is no more chicken wings, and no more peeled shrimp. That is what set this place apart from the other local hot pots near-by. I might as well just go to those as there is nothing here now that sets them apart and those two items is what keep my coworkers and I coming back on almost a weekly basis.

3.8/5. The meat quality was great (the wagyu & ribeye), but the broth ruined it for me. I personally did not enjoy neither the spicy nor the regular bone marrow broth. The spicy broth especially tasted quite gamey, for some reason. The normal broth didn't have much flavor. I would definitely try their tomato broth next time. The price was actually very reasonable. Not expensive at all for how much we ate. Their other side dishes like the fried chicken, sesame balls, and roasted peanuts were also another highlight for me. Their sauce bar didn't have a lot of options, but I was able to put together a tasty sauce so that didn't bother me. My meal ended perfectly with ice cream, which was rich and creamy. We had 6 people and it was super inconvenient to reach across one another to use ONE hotpot. It would be nice if they had given us two pots or individual pots would be even better. Service was decent overall.

Came to the soft opening of Happy Lamb as soon as I got wind of it being open! Arrived early on a Friday and there was already a crowded waiting room and a waitlist. It took about 20-25 mins. for us to get seated, but it was expected as everyone is eager to try the latest spot in town! Some cool quick facts: they offer a small hot buffet of appetizers and Chinese American food in addition to the hot pot proteins and veggies; fountain drinks are included in your meal cost (including hot tea, lemon water, and sodas); there is a classic or premium lunch/dinner option which adds more meat variety for extra cost. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, located in a shopping center with plenty of parking! - Reservations? No, walk-in only but you can join the waitlist. - AYCE? Yes, family-style AYCE hot pot. Everything included, with options to upgrade. We opted for the premium lunch and selected the spring lamb, wagyu chuck eye roll, and ribeye along with the 3 broths. Our favorite broth was the spicy one and the original! Everything had great flavor and they are very generous with the meats. We only made it through 2 rounds before getting full. Overall, I really enjoyed the hot pot and variety. Service was friendly, casual, and quick. There may be a wait but they move as quickly as possible!

Came when they first opened and there seemed to be already a line and people who had joined the Yelp waitlist already. I am going to assume they opened early for people to join the list or something. The restaurant is smaller than I thought it would be. The layout of the restaurant is okay, but that drink station is a bottleneck at the location they put it at. I ordered the best of both worlds, which is one spicy broth and one non-spicy broth. Then you put your meal choice; they have the classic and then the premium. I went with the classic because they didn't have some of the items in stock for the premium, and I wasn't willing to pay for it if I wasn't able to get those missing items. I would recommend depending on your party to maybe just order 2 plates of meat first if you have a smaller party, and if you have a bigger one, maybe 3. They bring out a decent amount of meat. As for veggies, seafood, noodles, cooked food, and so on, they are all self-service. You just grab a plate and go grab them from the buffet line. There is also a sauce station as well to make your own sauce.

New hot pot place in Austin, but still lots of improvements need to be made. My party of 6 came right at the dinner time opening on a Sunday and the wait wasn't too bad - about 45 mins. The place looked fresh, the booths were comfortable, and there was plenty of space. Unfortunately, the waiter let us know that only the classic ayce was available and out of those meat options, only 2 were available (the lamb and beef). The option for the 3 broth hotpot was also unavailable (keep in mind, there is an upcharge for this option). He let us know that the lunch crowd basically wiped them clean. My group opted for the 2 broth hotpot of the original marrow and golden marrow and loaded up on lamb and beef, but I'm genuinely confused on how a high traffic restaurant runs out of food knowing full well how service will look like on a weekend. The sauce station was really small and lacked so many options. The sesame sauce was placed in the largest container, but I found the flavor to be so bland. The vegetable and seafood options were also really lacking. You had to pick through the ice to find any remnants of seafood and I could count the variations of vegetables they had in one hand. The only redeeming quality was the broth itself. The golden broth had a nice kick to it and the original had good flavor. There is a self serve station for drinks and a freezer with individual cartons of ice cream. The kicker is they still charged the full $28/person dinner price even when most of the options were unavailable. I left feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied.

One of my new favorite hot pot restaurants! They are very new and currently in their soft opening phase so please bear with them but Happy Lamb is a must go. Get there super early to get through faster but they only have waitlist at the moment. We got there at around 6pm and the was already a 2 hour wait time. We decided to stick it out only because there were other restaurants near by we could chill at and grab a drink. We got the premium which is a must get and we got the trio base. All the meats were delicious with the lamb and the cabbage bone marrow soup base being the star of the show! I wish they had more dessert options but I get that most will be too full for dessert (never me lol) but overall an amazing experience and I will definitely be back.

SHOUT OUT TO MARY !!!! She's extremely kind front of house kept a smile the whole time through a busy shift !!!! Went to happy lamb yesterday!!!!! Be prepared to wait n give them grace. !!! They r new n working out the kinks They r kind enough to out some snacks n water while u wait They have a iPad to sign in at then u can wait we waited about 1hr n 45 min after being told an hr (not their fault you can't control other ppl eating). It was also soft Opening and freezing outside so what a perfect time for some hot pot The meats were very good The bar to grab the Ingredients to cook had a lot to coose from even some hot cooked items which was cool Great sauce bar Grab ur own drinks (soft drinks , tea, water n sweet tea) They have alcohol to choose from as well More meat/seafood variety to pick from at bar as well as on menus Wish there was more veggie options This place was really good in general Gorgeous bathroom Clean Friendly staff

    Love the veggie selection

This place is probably the best AYCE hot pot we have in ATX. The broths are so good! My go-tos are the spicy and golden cabbage. The extra hot foods they have at dinner time are also very good, like why are their wings sooo goood?? But they have a really good value during their lunch/happy hour, so if you are ok missing out on the hot foods, def go during the lunch like you cannot beat that price for AYCE hot pot. I do wish they kept their bean curd rolls on the regular menu instead of moving them to the premium, that made me realllly sad bc those are one of my favorites at hotpot and I refuse to pay premium for bean curd rolls lol. Also love that you get sauce bar & drinks included, I stay sippin on that hot tea yummm.

The food comes out fast, alarmingly fast. The fried green beans are always a must for us, and these were good, but not superior to any of the other ones that you can find around town. The bok choy was also typical, and the famed mapo tofu--while wonderfully spicy--was really greasy. We both loved the cumin lamb, our favorite dish. We ordered the tofu hot pot with chicken and vegetables. It comes with a side of white rice. The dish is prepared in a spicy sauce, served in a clay pot. The Indonesian rice noodles with tofu, vegetables and egg were very tasty. We were also offered complimentary wontons with sweet and sour sauce as a starter.

I was excited to see a collab between TSO and Black's BBQ, so I ordered the Black's BBQ Brisket Fried Rice. I was able to place my order in the app and my order was packed and ready to go during the pickup window time frame. The Black's BBQ Brisket Fried Rice contained long grain rice with vital farm's egg, peas and carrots, onions wok tossed with umami sauce (including mushroom soy and fish sauce) and Black's chopped brisket (lean and fatty mix). The Black BBQ sauce on the side was a nice touch. I enjoyed this fried rice dish very much and it exceeded my expectations. They also packed utensils and soy sauce. I plan to return here as it is close by my place of employment and offers a range of Chinese dishes for takeout and delivery.

We noticed this place is opening up soon really close to our house so we decided to see if it will be our new local favorite by trying their congress location. We were incredibly pleased with the quality and quantity of the food! Portions are GIGANTIC so know this going into your order - a portion can easily serve 2-3 adults (depending on hunger level and appetite). We got the drunken noodle and Singapore noodle and both were BOMB! Spicy, flavorful and saucy! Delish. We also got some fried pot stickers and they too were delicious. Highly recommend - it's especially great that in this economy they insist on no tipping.
