A Chinese ayce hot pot spot that is 5/5 in value, 5/5 in variety, and 4.5/5 in taste! Came on a weekend during dinner and thought the pricing was very reasonable at $30 per adult + your hot pot broth ranging from $3.99 for individual pots or $8.99 for larger pots. They have a more deluxe/ premium set if you'd want more options. I remember this spot being really good a few years ago but I'd give it a 7/10 for the worth but the food was a 6/10. They have a special during lunch which is $30 including broth, ayce, unlimited soft drink and open to the dinner section, soft serve ice cream. Everything is self serve, except the beef and lamb Meats, you have to order through the server. I found all the meats, to be chewy and not good quality. Broth was lacking flavour as well. We went to Happy Lamb Hot Pot specifically because they have individual pots. Just like all other hot pot places, you get to choose your broth and pot size (small or large). You can try 2-3 different types of broth if you choose the large pot. Broth selections include clear broth, mushroom broth, curry broth, hot sour & spicy broth, tomato broth, etc. I tried the mushroom broth (non-spicy) and it was pretty delicious. The interior is gorgeous. Other things that I really like about this restaurant (other than the ability to have individual pots for everyone on the table, instead of one big shared pot for everyone): 1) The "grab yourself" style of choosing ingredients - I like being able to walk up and see all the available ingredients, instead of ordering from a sheet of paper or from the table. You can upgrade to their deluxe menu of $33.99 to get better quality beef, lamb, and some special items- tofu skin roll, duck blood, and beef shoulder... all unlimited! For seniors, it's an additional 20% off, which is a pretty great deal. We ordered the large soup base with three choices and that was $13.99. I was pleasantly surprised with the selection of food items. First of all, pop refills are included in the price. Also, there is a selection of non hot pot appetizers. Then there is the lunch menu selection which comes with quite a good variety. You have to select from the wide assortment of items, yourself. You have to ask for beef and lamb rolls to be brought to your table though. In terms of taste, this was pretty delicious. And when l left, I felt full, but not uncomfortably full so that's a good sign. Service is already included in the bill for parties of 6 or more, but I'd say they deserved it as the service was good. The wait staff was always helpful and pleasant. I would like to come back and try the dinner menu at some point. But I think the lunch AYCE is worth it. If you want premium meat, there's $5 per person added. We chose the premium package, but was disappointed by the meat on the second round. The first round was pretty good, but the second round the meat is so fatty and low quality. It seems that they have "forgotten" that we paid for the premium package. We didn't bother to change it, but I was regretting to take the upgrade. They had some precooked buns and shrimp crackers, which both tastes old and stale. The sauce selection is okay, just the basics. Food selection was pretty good, they had all kinds of veggies and noodles, as well as shrimp, fish and some seafood. The clear soup base has a very distinct smell, which was hard to ignore. I think there's a lot of herbs in the the broth, which not everyone can take it. The service was very...minimal. I found this location to be very clean, decorated nicely, and had a better setup for choosing toppings. I definitely prefer their buffet-style setup over the paper order form and having a server bring it to you. With the buffet-style setup, I can pick how much or how little I want of a topping, which is nice if you want to try something new or different. Immediately after sitting the servers do come what soup base you would like without too much time to think. I am thankful for the servers pre-warning soup spiciness bases (especially when choosing - the one named "butter" is their spiciest!) I personally get the yin yang broth as you can try two different broths. Personally the tomato and hot/sour are what I get as when my friend tried the butter spicy it was completely filled with spices (but that is up to your personal taste) The menu is simple there are three times you can order on it, you tick off what you want. Usually, the meat comes quickly although there was one time it was still completely frozen so still needed to wait. There is a robot server that comes around but I haven't personally had. There is also a sauce station where you create your own sauce. One of my favourite things to get it their house mashed shrimp (it comes on a ladle and you scrap it to the size you want). It was nice to be able to experience a traditional stand up and help yourself buffet style restaurant since a lot of AYCE places have migrated away from this. At this place you get the choice of splitting one big hot pot or getting your own small pot. They have all of the food items towards the back where you can get up and get your food and drinks whenever you please. The only thing you order with the server is beef and pork. They also have a big selection of sauces and a soft drink machine. For dessert they just had oranges and canned peach slices. While I do like the idea of a traditional stand up buffet, I didn't think the food was presented all that nice (I get there's only so much you can do when it comes to the presentation of raw food). But it also wasn't too ideal when having to load everything on one regular sized plate that they give you at your seat. I just ordered the regular both to share... haven't branched out to being super adventurous with hot pot broths yet unfortunately, and also because I'm pretty weak when it comes to my tolerance for spiciness. So I acknowledge my experience might not have been as great as it could have been because I went with the standard broth. Anyways, I wasn't too keen with the soup. It had a lot of stuff floating around in it to keep it flavoured but it made it hard fishing food out because I'd always get like garlic cloves in my ladle and have to try to put it back in without losing the stuff I wanted. As for the food, I think the quality was just okay. Nothing that blew me away. For instance, I had high expectations for the garlic beef slices but I found it to have a bit of a weird texture and the garlic seasoning was not prominent at all. Taro noodles, kelp knots, and beef tripe are always my favourites when it comes to hot pot. They have a decent variety here as well. One tip is to probably scope out everything they have before starting to load stuff on your plate. I started grabbing food at the opposite end of all the good stuff (seafood and specialty items) so I ended up getting more of the things I didn't reaaaally need not realizing all the great stuff was yet to come. The service here was pretty good. The servers did an impressive job with communicating with us from the moment we arrived. They let me choose whether I wanted to sit at a two seater or wait 10 minutes more for a rectangular table. Our server came over right away after we were seated to explain how everything worked. The bill came to about $59 for two people before tips... which is typical for an AYCE place, even a bit more affordable compared to other hot pot AYCE's I've been to. My conclusion is that there's nothing bad about this place, but there's also nothing great about it. I reaaally wish they had more dessert options.. Atleast some ice cream! (Dessert is very highly prioritized for me for an AYCE place so they def lost several points from me for this). We didn't wait too long on a Saturday night around 6:30, however the line got quite long just 15 mins after so we got really lucky. I like the idea of getting your own individual pots as people usually have different soup selections. They have a good variety of soups from spicy options to regular bone broth to tomato. One thing I really like about this location is that they have a buffet style get your own food option. All the hot pot food can be grab yourself, and you can grab as little or as much as you want! This is really nice as sometime you might just want a little bit of certain items and you don't feel bad for wasting food. Their snack bar also has variety of fried food like buns, sesame ball, spring rolls etc along with many selection of cold dishes. The price is on the cheaper end compare to other AYCE hotpot places but I think it's definitely worth it for it's price. I'm digging the newly renovated look of little/happy lamb. Now all the ingredients are pre-portioned into stackable trays in the back. The food selection has also increased alongside, but they took away the (free) drinks. The tables get crowded very quickly with all the small individual trays so the person at the end of your table will inevitably become your organization czar as they have access to a multi-level cart stationed there. Use it to store your excess ingredients and empty trays. I'm not sure if the pricing is any different, but it works out to around $40/person normally (depending on if you get premium soups or ingredients). I feel like I don't eat enough to make that worth it most days. We went because an advertised 25% off (BOGO 50% off). Just a word of caution, the 25% only applied to the base price, not the soups.
