Awesome Hotpot & BBQ is a relatively new restaurant that took over another hotpot brand (Dahu). I haven't tried the old spot, but this new one is okay! We went during opening on a Saturday, and we were literally the only table there for lunch. They weren't fully ready for us, as they were still getting the apps and desserts ready in the help-yourself area. By the time we left, they added another side, which wasn't available when we were dining. Even though we had to wait a bit for them to set up all the apps and such, they didn't enforce their 2hr dining cap. Thus, we could take our time and enjoy, unlike some popular spots that would politely nudge you out once your time is up. We all had our individual hot pots. I chose mine with the classic soup option, like tomato, but they also have mushroom, tom yum, pork broth, and I think a spicy one. Limited options are available from their basic hot pot option. They have the standard like thinly sliced beef, chicken, lamb, shrimp paste, quail eggs, veggies like (watercress, spinach and cabbage), noodles like (vermicelli and instant noodles) and watermelon and fruit on the side. They also have frozen dumplings and some meatballs. Though don't expect a tremendous variety, perhaps unless you upgrade to their premium hotpot, because we only ordered the basic set, which honestly does the job, but perhaps not super exciting. The sauce station is good as other hot pots I've been to, and they have some dessert jellies and ice cream to finish off the meal. The matcha ice cream was actually good. I enjoyed it with their grass jelly on top.

Came here twice ever since they rebranded themselves to Awesome Hotpot and BBQ. First time was a few weeks back when they had their late night promo for $19.99 after 9pm. Each person got to choose their own soup, drink, choice of carbs, choice of meat, and ice cream. Also got a selection of veggie. The sauces, appetizers, and other desserts were self serve. For the price, it was okay but certain cuts of meat, carbs, and soup cost extra and at that point I feel like I should just gone with the value AYCE menu because with the promo, only the meat you select is the only meat you can keep ordering. On my second visit, I got the value menu. Ordered everything on my phone through the QR code except the appetizers, desserts, and sauce. 5 stars for the appetizers alone, they had a great selection of choices with the favorite being the boneless chicken feet and potato salad. Service was friendly and prompt. Got everything I ordered. I'm so glad soup is included in their price now and also included drinks (jasmine tea, plum juice). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is spacious and great for family gatherings. Chill environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Good for large groups and individual hot pots.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located on the second floor of times square plaza, you can find this all you can eat hot pot spot that offers individual pots so ensure no sharing![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have private rooms that you can book with you and your friends to have a more intimate dinner setting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Each person gets their own individual hot pot soup base, but have the communal lazy susan turntable to get your food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sauce bar is self serve with lots of options to choose from along with some snacks/ appetizers. Food quality here is not the best, definitely have had better cuts of meat at other hot pot spots. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But this is good for groups and larger parties compared to other hot pot restaurants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a large menu of items to choose from like: lamb, beef, shrimp, dumplings, ham, sausage, shrimp paste, mussels, etc. Whatever you can think about for hot pot they probably have. Overall, I would come back here just for larger party dining. Not necessarily my go to spot for hot pot though.

Not so awesome when you find this in the appetizer. " We wear gloves " they say.

This definitely looks like someone was not wearing the supposed gloves. We lost our appetite. They gave us $5 coupons for the next visit. No thanks. Not going again.

    Dim sum

Da Hu Hotpot is famous for their unlimited Hot Pot. Did you know they also offer all-you-can-eat dim sum? [[HIGHLIGHT]]In search of a family friendly restaurant that pleases a variety of tastes, we took our family here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Due to differing tastes we opted not to share bowls of Chongqing-style hotpot. Instead we decided to try their AYCE dim sum. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The verdict was that everyone liked it and we were all happy they had a good time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place kept popping up on my Instagram feed so I decided to give it a try. If you're looking for an all-you-can-eat (AYCE) hotpot and dim sum experience, Daihu might seem like a solid option at first glance. However, after dining here on a Saturday night with a party of 5 , I can say that the experience left much to be desired. Seating & Atmosphere We were seated promptly upon arrival at 6:30pm, which is a plus. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is spacious, bright, and relatively clean, creating a comfortable dining environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's located on the second floor of Times Square with elevator and escalator access. Pricing & Hidden Costs The first red flag is the pricing. At over $50 per adult after tax on weekends, this place is already on the higher end for AYCE hotpot. But what's frustrating is the number of hidden costs: * Premium items cost extra despite being shown in the same menu * Drinks are not included, so even basic beverages come at an additional charge. * Soft serve ice cream isn't included either as advertised which is a letdown when most AYCE places at this price point offer desserts as part of the deal. There's also a limit to 1 per person for the mango pudding order. Portion sizes are tiny. * Dim sum is à la carte, meaning it's not part of the AYCE hotpot price, which can be misleading if you expected both to be included. Service & Food Delivery Issues One of the biggest issues is the service. Once seated, the first round of food takes an unusually long time to arrive. Then, as you move into subsequent rounds, items start going missing. You'll often need to chase down the staff just to get the food you ordered, which kills the AYCE experience. They only allow ordering from one device so one person of the group would have to do all the ordering and items are ordered by individual pieces - 3 fish balls, 4 pieces of lettuce etc which gets tedious. * Appetizers are not refilled, which is disappointing * Soup refills are not proactively offered, so you'll need to keep asking for it. * The misleading pictures and lack of clear explanations on the advertisements create confusion about what's actually included in the base price. Final Verdict For over $50 per person, Daihu falls short in both value and service. The long wait times, missing items, hidden charges, and lack of included essentials make it feel like you're being nickel-and-dimed rather than enjoying a seamless dining experience. You could easily find a better AYCE hotpot spot for the same price--or even less--without the hassle. Would I return? Not likely.

    Children's play area

Located on the second floor of Times Square plaza in Richmond hill at the corner of Leslie and Hwy 7. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This AYCE hot pot restaurant has a large footprint and has many seating options with booths, tables and private rooms. There is even a dedicated children's play area on premise[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The food... the ordering menu looks extensive but many are for extra charge. With the competitive nature of the hot pot scene, the quality was lacking when compared to comparable shops. The soup lacked flavour and depth. And the meats are fresh but the grade maybe a little lower to compensate for costs. The self serve dipping sauce area was a little sparse and the snacks were a little past the warm state. The service... there were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant and they are scrambling around to satisfy everyone's needs.... When you order the food, they bring it out lickity split but for anything else, be prepared to play where are they busy with...

Came here for some dinnertime hotpot, and my experience overall was just ok. In terms of the good stuff, the menu items were extensive and had a good variety of meats. There were a good range of soup bases to choose from, I got the spicy schezuan one which definitely delivered on the spice. Now for the not so good stuff, my main complaint was for the speed of the service. The first order put in by our table took around 30 minutes to arrive. Also, the dessert items were not the greatest, the little puddings they have very little taste. Another thing to note is quality of the meat was okay, not particularly fresh.

Came here with friends on a busy Friday, but we were able to get a table with our own pots! The food came all at once, so we were able to see how much we ordered for the AYCE and could mix it in ourselves. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was fairly quiet aside from chatter like our table and the service was nice and quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Make sure to ask them about the "all you can drink" menu for pop and juice!! It's only $1 per person.

Came here for all you can eat dim sum on Saturday at about 11:30 am. This place is sparkling clean and the atmosphere is nice. The appetizer bar was a huge disappointment because at least 70% of the appetizers were completely gone. They were restocked at an extremely slow rate. Order your dim sum in large quantities at the beginning because the rate at which the food comes out is extremely slow. The staff are all quick and friendly so I'm sure it's a kitchen issue. We didn't get our ordered dim sum at least 40 min to an hour in. And they don't all come out at once. We got our initial order of dim sum in three waves. Shockingly to both my husband and I, the Lava Bun was REALLY good. I tried it just to try it and it ended up being my favorite dish. The shu Mai were a second favorite.

Pretty authentic = it would be actually spicy I went here with a group of co-workers. We decided to go here it is all-you-can-eat hotpot. it ends up costing around $50 per person. it is a bit pricy, and this place has a lot of variety. it is the most full i have been for a while. we came here in a super large group, and each person got a small pot in front of them. you could choose to have your individual pot or share a big one. i order spicy one, and finally, it is indeed spicy. there is a pick-your-own seasoning bar as well. i recommend it if you want to some real spicy hotpot.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

The special is available all week including weekends and is only available for dine in and dinner. In general the dishes were well prepared. The duck was sliced well and the crepes were nice and thin. The remainder meat and bones were cut really well, usually you just get a mass of bones with bits of meat attached but our plate was well presented. Only real complaint was the rice. Shrimp and veg filling were nice. 3.5/5. Rice rolls with cumin lamb - less common version of this. Sadly not much lamb, cost more for same portion size as other rice rolls, too much cumin and celery. And still too mushy. 2/5. Giant dumpling in soup - ok. Nothing bad, nothing amazing. Pretty standard. 3.5/5. Bbq pork with noodles in soup - the pork was excellent. In terms of value, the bbq pork with noodles was a giant portion and great lunch special deal at $15. Feeds 2 easily. Highly recommend. The dim sum dishes varied, typically just under $10 each. Pretty average pricing and mediocre quality. The pigeon was $20 but not done well. Tea was $2.50 per head which imo is too high for a place like this. The restaurant itself has the typical tacky decor with a rainbow of colours and lighting found in Chinese banquet restaurants of this vintage. It was clean and comfortable enough. A bit run down but fine. Plenty of free parking out front. Overall, solid average with an exceptionally good lunch time bbq pork noodle deal for value.
