I visited Happy Lemon on a rainy Saturday afternoon. There was one other person in front of me but the staff seemed really busy with other orders so it took a little bit to get my order in. A line was quickly forming but the employees seemed to manage it well. Once I did place my order I only had to wait a few minutes for the drink to come out. I ordered an iced Classic Boba Tea and thought it was really good! I'm excited to come back and order some other items on their menu. They had a decent amount of seating too so it would be a good spot to sit and enjoy your drink with friends. I enjoyed my experience here and would recommend it to others. read more

i made a yelp account specifically because of this experience. i walked into happy lemon with my three best friends, having just come from target where i got two spider-man walki-talkis, and while i was ordering the wonderful employee complimented my walki-talki. my best friend and i were extremely upset because they did not have batteries. because the employee was so kind, we felt confident that she would do her best to help us out. in the end, she found a mini screwdriver and 6 AAA batteries just for us!!! now me and my friend can freely speak to each other within 467 megahurts. This Happy Lemon location is the closest one to me, and they've finally replaced the plywood door that was there after it was shattered years ago, iykyk. They've also rebranded the store with a Genshin Impact theme. To start, I'll say that the bubble waffles and boba are consistently great. Maybe it's just me, but when I purchase something from a business, the vibe from the staff can make a big difference in how enjoyable the experience is, and unfortunately, the staff here seem to lack that inviting energy. On top of that, the café itself is quite dirty. There are streaks on the windows, the corners along the walls are dirty, and the bathroom keeps getting more disgusting. After sharing all this, I can't help but wonder about the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the food and drinks. I really hope they can work on this. Genshin impact collab brought me back to try their drinks after three+ years of skipping them due to sour crema in their drinks, but the klee collab drink was made well, and a classic jasmine milk tea with boba was good too! Love how they decorated the space! Staff was fast and accommodating, had no problems with my order, and there were a few people in line but it wasn't too rowdy inside, even on the day of the collaboration release on a 7PM evening. They gave me a heads up that making the waffles would take about 18minutes. After some observation, I noticed why it took that long. They have 4 waffle makers but since it was late, they were just using one while the other ones are already clean or in the process of getting cleaned. So, while I was observing, I noticed that she was still in the middle of cleaning one of the makers and didn't even start on my order. It was only after she was done cleaning that she made the waffles. I don't understand. Why can't you just put the batter in the maker and clean the other makers that weren't in use?? It didn't take 18 minutes -- more like 30 minutes! How did I know? My drink had a timestamp and I knew what time I left. OMG....why?! That gal was taking her sweet time and cleaning very slow might I add -- one aluminum foil piece at a time and wrapping the wires. I know Happy Lemon is hugely popular in our area, but I have mixed feelings about the Happy Lemon chain in general. I do like the bubble waffles. The drinks taste good for the first sips, but ultimately I seem to feel not so well if I drink an entire drink because of the amount of sugar in the drinks. This is even after ordering the half sugar option for the drinks. Typically I'll go to a coffee shop or place like Happy Lemon to do work. For this purpose, Happy Lemon was not a good choice. I always hear the raves about Happy Lemon so i decided to try the one in Issaquah. I ordered the Ube Black Tea w/ Taro while my fiance ordered the chocolate waffle. He didnt want to order any dipping sauce as he believed it would be too sweet. Plus dipping sauce is an extra $1 - $1.50, depending on which sauce you want to order. The chocolate waffle was $5.25 and the boba was about $5.50. We liked the chocolate waffle. It was so sweet with a fluffy crunch bite but we regretted not getting any dipping sauce because it lacked that extra kick. I absolutely hated my boba drink. It is way paler than in the pictures, plus i did not taste the ube flavor. It was only infused in the bobas rather than throughout the drink. You could taste a bit of the tea but it felt more watered down. Maybe i shouldve had less ice added in but the first sips didnt taste right at all. Service was quick to serve and friendly. They were able to maintain the long line on a Saturday afternoon smoothly. My husband and I are HUGE fans of Happy Lemon. We stopped by here after a quick hike at Coal Creek Trails. They're open fairly early compared to other Happy Lemon's, this one says it's a Happy Lemon Plus. We were the only customer's in there. We got our usual order (strawberry jasmine green tea with lychee jelly and a black tea with rock salt crema). This one let us get more then 2 egg waffles too! A lot of the other stores (Especially during busy hours) only allow you to get 2 egg waffles per order. This particular one also doesn't have the phone number rewards system though. Although we were the only one's in there and it was fairly early, they were still getting a good number of online orders and seemed to be constantly prepping orders. We got our orders very quickly and it was perfect. If you're ever in the vicinity of a freshly made egg waffle, you'll understand why you would want more then just 1. For years, Tully's Coffee occupied this space and I love what Happy Lemon has made of the room. Its high ceilings and tall windows make the shop feel extremely open and allows for plenty of natural light to pour in. There is also a variety of seating arrangements from a large communal table in the center to individual tables with booth seating along one of the walls. My absolute favorite spot is the couch area right next to the fireplace, which embodies full relaxation. This location is unique from the others in the surrounding area since they also serve Victrola coffee in addition to their traditional tea drinks. I had an iced vanilla latte with boba once, which was a perfect midday treat. Between two other visits so far, I enjoyed their fruit teas. Per their menu of Recommendations, I ordered their Strawberry Black Tea with Lychee Jelly (30% sweetness, light ice). It was refreshing with an additional fruitiness from the lychee jelly. I've also tried their Mango Green Tea (30% sweet, light ice) with boba. A perfect balance of sweet and tart with perfectly-cooked boba... ah, there's nothing better! As a note, their boba tasted barely sweetened unlike some other shops where they soak the boba in honeyed syrup. It just adds some chew without the additional sugar... a win-win! On one occasion, my friends and I succumbed to the delicious smell of the Bubble Waffle and ordered a chocolate / original to split. I'm bummed to say that these appear more delightful than they look. Despite a nice chewiness, I thought the "bubbles" would be light and airy, but they were actually more on the denser side. I personally didn't see what all the hype was about, but it just comes down to personal preference since one of my friends raves about them. I'm glad I tried it, but will just stick to ordering Happy Lemon's drinks moving forward. I appreciate the kind crew at this location who consistently greets guests with a smile and genuine welcome. We love boba as a family - (originally from SoCal and transplants to the area)and we have been to other happy lemon locations since the boba selection is limited. First, the service is terrible. The workers need to acknowledge customers when they arrive. The place was not busy. One DoorDash worker was waiting to confirm his to go order while the workers were just blankly walking to and fro. My husband and I waited as well for a simple greeting before they took our order. Eye contact matters. Greetings matter. Pros- location great. adjusting sugar levels and ice level. Taro milk tea and classic milk tea taste about right. Ambience is nice. A good amount of seating. Music - not my taste but whatever. I like that there are coffee options although we didn't try it this time around Cons- cleanliness. The tables are not wiped down. The service is slow, customer service is meh. Note that this Happy Lemon location IS OPEN during COVID for TAKEOUT and DELIVERY. My brother and I decided to get bubble tea here after doing our weekly Costco gas run. I've been to other Happy Lemon locations, but this was my first experience going to the Issaquah location. We parked in the parking lot and ordered through the takeout app powered by GrubHub. I ordered a Taro Milk Tea (L) and my brother ordered a Boba Milk Tea (L). The total came to $12.83 including tax. After submitting my order at 12:19pm and choosing the Pickup ASAP option, I got a receipt saying that my order would be ready within 30 - 50 MINUTES. I was shook but then thought maybe 30-50 minutes was an automated message. However, after 15-minutes of waiting I decided to go into the store. There were five baristas and they were all busy working. There were also several people in line and waiting in the cars (all social distancing at least). I didn't get an opportunity to talk to a barista because they were so busy, so I drove off to bide time at Michael's craft store next door instead. After 40 MINUTES (12:59pm), I checked my phone and the app said it was ready for pickup. I picked up the drinks and was in and out the door within 2-minutes. The barista was friendly and had my name marked in tape on the plastic bag. The drinks were good, but not 40-minutes of waiting good. My taro has a strong coconut flavor, which is typical of taro. I appreciate that it didn't have artificial purple coloring and that 30% sweetness was sweet, but not overly sweet. The boba milk tea was good- 50% sweetness was the right amount for this drink. I try to be understanding towards businesses during this time, but a 40-minute wait time for a drink is unacceptable. I can't imagine what it's like here on a weekend. It was crowded and we waited outside after our order. It took almost 25 minutes before we got our orders. We got the original bubble waffle and the Ube smoothie with salted crema. The bubble waffle was not as soft and seem not fresh even though they were making it right there. The texture was not as good either and kinda bland. The Ube smoothie was not that good either. The salted crema was too thick so when you try to drink it, all you get is the crema because the Ube smoothie could not get through. Once the Ube went through, you can taste the artificial flavor of the Ube. Overall I was disappointed as the Bellevue location was a lot better in service and food. This is perhaps my favorite boba chain now. It is just so cute and they make the best strawberry black tea with lychee jelly! The tea is good and strong and the strawberry flavor doesn't taste artificial like at other boba places. I think it's because they also use strawberry purée. I always get my bubble tea within a few minutes. For bubble waffles, it depends. Although there are 4 bubble waffle makers, they normally use only 1 or 2 of them. It may take a long time to wait, but the good thing is that the cashier normally would let me know how long I need to wait, so I can decide if I want to wait for bubble waffles or not when I order. They have a huge selection of bubble tea. I have tried many different types of bubble tea, and so far they are all good. As I mentioned earlier, their taro balls were amazing. The bubble waffles are also delicious! You can also order half original and half chocolate to try both flavors at the same time. I like this place and appreciate its convenient location. The only thing I would complain is that unlike the Bellevue Square store they do not offer reward points for free drinks.
