I rarely leave reviews like this, but after what I experienced at Happy Nails and Spa in Vacaville, I feel it is important to share. I went in for a pedicure on July 17. During the service, the technician used an electric drill to remove my polish and continued drilling my toenails even after the polish was removed. She was also on her phone during portions of my service and appeared distracted. While drilling my right big toenail, I suddenly felt an intense burning pain. I screamed and immediately told her that she had hurt my toe. She later cut my toe with cuticle scissors and used alcohol on the area. Several days later, because I was still experiencing discomfort, I returned to the salon and reported what had happened. I asked to have the polish removed without a drill because I wanted to see the condition of my nails and did not want them subjected to additional drilling. The owner told me this was "impossible." Ultimately, only the polish on my two big toes was removed. I could feel that something was wrong, but at that point I still couldn't see the full extent of the damage. On August 2, I went elsewhere and had the remaining polish professionally and carefully removed without a drill. Once everything was removed, I could clearly see that my right big toenail was separating and my left big toenail was bruised. I have since been evaluated by a doctor and diagnosed with paronychia. I am now taking antibiotics and doing foot soaks twice a day as part of my medical treatment. What is most disappointing is that I went back to the salon and gave them an opportunity to address my concerns before I knew the full extent of the damage. This wasn't simply a manicure or pedicure I didn't like. I was physically hurt during the service, said something immediately when it happened, returned to report the injury, and ultimately required medical care. My husband unknowingly paid $50 plus a $10 tip that day. I certainly never expected that a routine pedicure would result in an infection, medication, ongoing treatment, and concern about the condition of my toenails. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this salon. I hope they take this situation seriously and review their practices regarding electric drills, sanitation, technician attentiveness, and how they respond when a client reports an injury. read more

First time coming to this place and I'm very happy! When I came in it wasn't too busy so I was sat down almost immediately. They were nice and I love how they took their time and didn't rush through my pedicure! The massage was also very soft and gentle which I appreciated. Will definitely be coming back! read more

So made a reservation for 3 for pedicure. Came in and was seated in 5 minutes. The other two in my parties were started immediately. I waited 30 min without any assistance. The two people with me were almost done and I was still waiting. A girl came and said ill be with you then left to go finish up someone else. This is the second time not very good with customer service. Saw 2 people come in after me and get worked on immediately. I just got up and left. I guess when you have an appointment it means nothing and first come come served doesnt count either. So it has to be something since other people were help after i was already seated. I will not be going again and will not recommend to anyone. read more

My nails were done with gel and within a week started chipping. I had Red done for my birthday and a special occasion it chipped after 4: days. Supposed to last 45 days at least You can come back to them for repair in two weeks if something goes wrong So I did They said I needed to wear gloves doing dishes etc I told them I did. I should have bought them with me to prove it cause they acted like they didn't believe me. They told me that they would fix it in half hour. I sat and sat. Finally after almost an hour I spoke up. I told them to take off the nail polishing cotton stuff and they said it had to stay on My finger nails were starting to HURT!!!! It doesn't have to stay on that long just because it's gel!!! I came by for the first time recently for a gel pedicure. There was only 1 customer inside when I arrived. I was pretty happy about that because I got into a chair right away. When I arrived, I was directed to put my name and phone number into a tablet (excuse me?) and what service I was using. I am deducting one star for that. I did not like that at all. Other than that, the service was great. The shop was mostly quiet. A crowd of women started to come in as I was almost done with my service. Sounds like I came in at a pretty good time before it got too busy. This is not my normal nail shop. I came to visit when another shop was crowded and didn't want to wait. This place is awful! When they first opened with Trish being the owner it was extremely welcoming and nice. It was refreshing at the time to find a salon that seemed to care about customer service. I have been coming back consistently for a couple/few years. Unfortunately I will never go back and I hope in posting this it helps others steer clear of this lace too. Everything about this place has changed and not for the better. The customer service is non existent. They try and rush to get you out quickly. You can NEVER point out a mistake they have made or speak your thoughts on the work they've done because they will get confrontational, defensive and blame you (it's your fault it's lumpy because you removed the gel polish on your own) when in reality it was lumpy because Tammy put on the layers so thick then as they were air drying she proceeded to push on them to "see if they were dry" when I spoke up about the lumpy mess the workers immediately start a conversation with each other in Vietnamese. This has become such an uncomfortable pattern in this establishment for employees to rudely speak in a different language right in front of the customers laughing and clearing talking about clients. I decided to turned on my translator app and spent the next 15 minutes listening to them talk about me. When I left Trish (the owner) tried to put on a fake sweet voice telling me to have a good day. I then confronted her holding up my phone showing I had translated their conversation and she tried to tell me they were talking about coworkers! Lies!!! Completely lying to my face and also confirming it's normal behavior that they talk awful about coworkers behind their back. I personally know (and can name) employees that have quick working here and they have said it is because of the way they were treated and because of how two faced the workers are. Trish will also take 20% of the tips given to her employees that she did not work for (unless you give the tip in cash directly to the worker) I could on and give more examples of the rudeness I have witnessed and videoed on other occasions when I've been there. I am also considering posting the entire 15 minute conversation here beings I have yet to receive an apology and I definitely did not deserve to be treated like that. First time here and unfortunately, I'm really disappointed. Everyone was very nice, but I paid $70 for my nails and I'm honestly unhappy with how they turned out. My thumb almost looks like I have clubbed fingers. The shapes and sizes are all inconsistent, the lines are uneven, and they don't match my nail beds at all. They just look chunky and unprofessional. I'm definitely willing to come back to this nail spot. Sunday they close at 5 PM and we showed up at 2 PM. There were five of us; I was getting a gel pedicure, and a gel full set , my young gals was getting regular kids mani & pedi. The lady that runs the joint (I'm assuming) was super polite and accommodating. Her staff didn't look too thrilled that we were there though cause I guess they wanted to leave early, but they served us anyways. The ladies were all very polite to my young gals which was important to me since I was paying for them to enjoy the experience, you know. Leah , a LEGIT Gem I showed her a picture of what nail design I wanted, and she was able to execute it and freestyle it at the same time. Great conversation and down earth. Got there and sat down. They swapped us around to like 3 different people before we actually got the person to do our nails. The lady cut my cuticles more than 3 times making them bleed. She kept asking why do my nails looks so thin, and why do my nail beds look like that(meaning bad). Just all around felt judged the moment I sat down. For my daughter nails, Not only after that they told me a fill is 55 dollars. If you go anywhere else around town it's 35 dollars. 55 would be for a full set. So the argued about that with me. Went here to get my birthday nails done. 4 out of the 10 nails were crooked. Clearly as day crooked. I spent almost $150 on a halfway painted gel polish toe nails and crooked birthday nails. I asked and showed exactly what I wanted and was passed around from nail tech to nail tech because some are unable to do designs. I didn't get the color I asked for nor the simple heart design I wanted. I didn't not ask for anything obnoxious or crazy. I left upset because Linda kept asking me if I was okay even after her noticing my nails were filed way to far over to the left ( her right side facing me). I was surprised one day with a Starbucks gift card! All their technicians are good but my go to is Rocky, the first person I've consistently made appointments with. I had an appointment with my aunt at 1pm. We got there and sat. They kept taking other people even though we had an appointment and we left after they took her nails off because they kept going back and forth between someone's feet and my aunts hands, same tools without cleansing and she didn't even wash her hands in between. Plus they had me sitting for well over half an hour while they continued to give everyone service but myself. Would not recommend at all. Definitely taking my money elsewhere.
