When I asked for their name, the person I spoke to said they didn't know it and there was no other information about they could give me. What?! Total load of BS. Keep your furry babies away from this place. I don't know what to say. I was looking for a new vet closer to us and was hopeful after seeing all of the good reviews here. I took my two shih tzus there for a full grooming this past weekend and I thought it had gone well. The girls were so nice and my dogs seemed happy. Then the next day I found cuts and scabs by my boy's nose and eye. Thankfully my girl is fine but now I'm worried about him. He's been making whining sounds a lot and I'm afraid he might be in pain. I'm thinking of having the vet check him out to make sure he's okay. I was so worried about taking them to a new place and asked if they were any trouble and was told no. If he gave them any kind of a struggle I feel like I would have or should have been told. I don't know yet if we will be going back. Update: Emily, I'm a bit appalled that you would think I was lying. Yes, this is where I took my dogs. And there's no way he would have gotten scabs like that on his own, especially considering he's never had them until now. The Happy Pet team works magic for my dog. I don't care where I am in the Chicago area... my dog will go to HPP! They are so patient with my elderly dog with bladder issues. She ALWAYS looks great. I have had the best experience at the daycare location (Happy Pet PLACE) for many months. Amanda and Autumn were beyond awesome and kind each and every time I visited and so good to my dog always. I didn't know the rest of the staff by name; however, they were always kind and helpful and I felt my dog was in great care with all of them. My dog has been groomed at the Parlor a handful of times. They always did a great job grooming him; however, the staff is always tense and not very happy. This past Saturday, when I arrived for my 1:30 appointment, the owner Jolie and another team member were not getting along, nor did they acknowledge me entering, so a young man greeted me who was kind. They called at 4:30 and said my dog would be ready at 5pm and said they were closing at that time as well. I got there 15 minutes early to pay as I live close and wanted to respect them closing at 5pm. However, when I entered, Jolie said "We told you 5:00" and then said that she didn't know if she could finish my dog's grooming as she would have to wait for him to settle down. She brought him to the back and foolishly I left and said I would wait in my car. I should have taken my dog and left at that time due to how she spoke to me. My dog has never been groomed in the front of the store, so I understood that seeing me did indeed get him excited, but that was not my intent. I was called again at 5:00 to return and as I was paying, I explained to the other employee why I came early and said I did not need to be scolded. She responded, "We told you 5:00". I was not going to get in an argument as they did not care whatsoever about my business. This is the worst groomer I have ever been to. DO NOT bring your dog here. When I arrived home with my dog I saw that my dog was bleeding so much from nail cutting. There is blood all over my car and clothes. They didn't even protect the wound. They didn't apologize or show any remorse. I called to speak to the manager and they refused. They did not care about what happened. I told them that I would never come back here again and they said that's fine because I was not welcomed no longer after many months of service. Honestly, the main reason I decided to give this place a try was because it's open on Sundays (my only day off). I figured, if they're willing to work on Sundays when it's convenient for a lot of people, they must really care about their customers. Another reason is because I wanted to support the smaller, neighborhood pet shops. And BOY! I made the right choice! The shop was very cozy. Being from San Diego, the place reminded me a lot of the neighborhood shops that you'd find out there by the beaches. They even sell consignment items like bows and accessories. I also want to add that all their treats are organic. The owner Jolie was extremely friendly and attentive. She listened carefully to my needs, and most importantly, she asked all the right questions. She seemed to sincerely care and paid close attention to my little guy's (Mr. Putty-Johnson) medical conditions and special needs. She really showed signs that she has personally experienced w/ older dogs. I felt relieved and confident that she was going to take good care of him. She also didn't try to up sell me on any products/services that I didn't need, and even pointed out to me that I didn't need them. The grooming took a couple of hours, just as she had quoted. When we picked up Mr. Putty-Johnson, he was calm and nothing less of super handsome! I had asked for a puppy cut, with long tail and ears, and that's exactly what Mr. Putty got. The groomer gave him the classic Yorkie trimmed on his ears, and the cut was very even. Putty usually hates when people touch his paws, so grooming his nails has always been an impossible mission for many of his past groomers. But the groomer here was able to trim down all of his nails and hair on his paws, amazing! When we got home, although my husband really loved the new haircut, he wanted the haircut on Putty's face to be much shorter since the hair on the face tends to grow out faster than the rest of his body. I called the shop back, and Jolie was more than happy to let me come back and make the changes. We showed up on Tuesday morning, and she was able to take care of him right away without any hassles or additional charges. Overall, I love this place! Def thought an update was needed... been coming here ever since Feb 2012 and I could not be happier with the results. Joey always looks amazing, and although he is usually there for a while, I know he is in great hands (hehe made a pun). Anywho, the price is a little up there but I would much rather pay more for a great cut than pay cheap for a terrible one, plus I am sure its harder to groom a dog than a person's head ;) My dog might have the face of an angel, but I am sure he tries to get in some sort of trouble, hehe. And I LOVE that he comes home with a bandanna, always so freaking cute! I've been trying to find a better place to get my dog groomed than PetSmart. So when I came across this establishment, I thought that they looked good and has high ratings. My mistake was not reading through the reviews! First off, the receptionist seems nice and she was polite, but the groomer!!! She was so rude!!! Here are some of the things that she said to me: "Well, how much do you want off of her?" I looked at that sample of fur that they have and pointed at the longest length that's on the patch. Her, in her arrogance tone, "That more than half!" I'm like, "Ok, so, what's the longest clipper that you have?" She quipped, "That one! (The one that I was just pointing at.)" I was telling her that my dog has a sensitive right paw bc she keeps getting clipped there. I wanted her to know that my dog might pull her paws back. I just wanted the groomer to be fully aware of how my dog is, and this is how she responded. "It's common for their quick to be clipped when they get their nails clipped." My instant thought was, "WTF?!?! No, it's not! And if it is, it shouldn't be! What kind of business is this?" Then she started throwing out some random facts, "We're the only non-restraint place in IL." And then she added, "If she doesn't like it, then we won't force her, then she'll just get half a haircut. If she doesn't cooperate, we'll just send her home." This will be the first and last time that I'll be here. Update: As I was sitting in my car waiting for my dog to be groomed, I looked through the Google reviews, again, to see if anyone else experienced this rude behavior from the staff as well. Lo and behold, they did!!! Someone's dog got cut while getting groomed here. So I went back inside and told the receptionist that I only wanted my dog to have a bath today. The groomer came out, and I told her the same thing, and she said, "Do you want to just grab your dog now? She's done with her bath." I was so relieved! I said, "Sure!" And then the groomer proceeded, "You guys can't ever come back here ever again!" I replied back, "Ok." Good! Because I don't want to come back anyway! I am sorry to report that I can't give a good review of Happy Pet Parlor. Today I was abruptly told that they would not groom my shy Standard Poodle Emma because she "jiggles too much" and they won't hold her or take more time with her so she won't get a perfect cut. When I called to make this second appointment I told them that the last time I brought her in they didn't shave her face, paws, etc. as I asked. The groomer at the time told me in an offhanded manner that she wouldn't stand really still so he didn't do it. I said to the young woman today that I really want that done and I wouldn't be happy if it wasn't. It's their job right? (The trainer I bought her from said she was very good on the table when they groomed her for me.) I could understand if my dog was aggressive or dangerous but she's just very timid and skittish; she's actually a sweetheart. My 7lb cat dominates her at home! Emma was a rescue that I had gotten from a trainer in KY. On the evening I brought her home to Hoffman Estates she panicked as I was attempting to lead her into the house, jerked her neck out of the collar, ran off and avoided getting caught for 14 days. She's now much calmer and acting more like a regular dog since I've been working with her and she feels she has a home. I felt very hurt when Jolie called back to cancel the appointment and said they would not groom her. I've known and liked Jolie since she worked at Pet Smart and groomed my first poodle Nikita. I followed her when she opened Happy Pet Parlor and have taken Emma to her day care facility Happy Pet Place. Maybe she was having a bad day but she was very abrupt with me and didn't listen when I explained that at the time of the first visit Emma was still getting over being lost and was frightened of anything and anyone who wasn't me. I guess my business of the past 10+ years no longer matters to her now that she's established. Nikita got groomed every 4-6 weeks for the 10 years I had her, which adds up to about $6,000-$8,400 of business. I was thinking about doing a dog training package with HHP but I can't and won't give my business to anyone who treats me rudely, especially someone I always held in high regard. I'll find another doggy day care center as well. So make sure your dog will stand completely still or they won't groom them properly. I started going to happy pet parlor right after I adopted my dog when she was 6mo old. It was a great place & the people who worked there were awesome. It was like a big family! Then the covid came & they had to close down for awhile. I bought a package of 20 1/2days for $420 & I already had 8 full days left plus a $100 credit from my son for x-mas. I was sick & in the hospital for awhile & my Sadie had to be boarded. My son & his wife paid the bill. I had noticed that none of the same workers were there & was told they didn't want to come back cause they were busy collecting their $600 x-tra unemployment & weren't returning. Ok but things were different there now. Sadie didn't seem like her happy cheerful self after leaving there. They also refused to clip her nails because she wouldn't sit still. Never had that problem before. The last time I was there I was accused of being 3min late (Which I was not) & they were gonna have to charge me a late fee. I would have to take this up with the owner. Well I e-mailed them 3x after finding out I was locked out of my acct. talked to a former employee who told me they were all fired When the covid hit so they couldn't collect the unemployment. That really bothered me Then I got my credit card statement & I was credited $357 . So I guess talking wasn't their thing. First of all the credit was wrong. I owed them for 2 overnights $90 & 1 full day so they still owe me over $300 more. I also found out the nasty woman who told me to talk to the owner was actually the owner. She's a large woman who's covered in tattoos. I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to get my money but I want other people to be aware that there is not an ounce of decency in the owner & she has no clue about customer service. Just tried to book an appointment for my teacup poodle. She went there a few months ago and they did a nice job but I was shocked that the price for a 5lb dog was $50. I have taken my other dogs there and was happy with the cuts but alarmed with the Increase in price. - I just moved back after a year. So when I called today and am willing to pay the higher price I was told that I am not allowed back because I made the person taking my money last time uncomfortable. So happy Pet Parlor is willing to turn down customers and profit because I hurt someone's feelings. !!! Im fine with it as there are many pet salons but surprised at how this business operates in today's day with suffering businesses. Need for their staff to get some toughness and understand that people should be informed when they book that the price is $50 or whatever it is so they aren't sticker shocked when they arrive. The groomer in the front proceeded to give me attitude when I asked her to spell the name on the zelle account, as it wasn't posted any where. I began going to Happy Pet Parlor almost immediately after they opened their doors. I was very happy with them and treated nicely whenever I came in. As time went on and their customer base seemed to grow, I found the premises becoming less and less tidy and the attitude increasingly aloof. I have, on past visits, seen dried blood on the side of the table used for nail trimming, urine on the floor that went unnoticed until I brought it to their attention, and an overall sloppiness when it comes to general housekeeping. I have also been met with inconsistent pricing and services among employees. There seemed to be confusion even with the owner Jolie on site. I discovered the hard way, a total lack of loyalty toward customers who were there from the beginning. They are interested only in the present. Happy Pet Parlor appears to be a second rate operation when it comes to business savvy in my opinion. Oh, they are seemingly pleasant and friendly as long as you don't question them about pricing and past practices. The owner, Jolie, will then quickly become rude and any customer satisfaction normally extended by management in any other business atmosphere suddenly becomes nonexistent. It's no wonder they have to offer specials to bring in customers. It's keeping the customers coming back that will ultimately be the challenge. There are no smiles at Happy Pet Parlor. Save yourself the frustration and give Happy Pet Parlor a pass. It appears that Happy Pet Parlor does not appreciate bad reviews as honest as they may be. They will immediately attack the bad reviewer (me, in this case) with personal attacks, i.e. "bullies", "meanies", "the mean man" and "cheap". I believe some of their reviewers might actually be friends or employees. Kelly D. says she was present "last night" when the "mean man Mitch" was yelling. First off, there was no yelling. Some frustration and a slightly raised tone, but no yelling. Second the only two people in the store at the time were the owner Jolie and Isaiah and the pricing dispute in question happened in mid afternoon not at "night" as Kelly D. tells it. Her response is fictitious. Third, both Emily F. and Kelly D. respond with name calling and innuendo and the fact is neither was present. If Happy Pet Parlor cannot receive and respond with respect and dignity to those who find their services subpar, they should not respond at all. I normally wouldn't repost to answer childish rebuttals from a less then businesslike establishment but I now believe that Lisa B. is also correct. All the positive reviews now seem less then genuine. My claims of what I have seen in this establishment on different visits are true and once again, there were NO other customers in the shop when I was treated so RUDELY for simply questioning their business inconsistencies. Emily F.'s earlier reply does not address any of my concerns but rather talks again about "our specials". Kelly D. and Emily F.'s responses seem to prove my point about the poor business practices they endear themselves to. They now show themselves to be vindictive and respond to bad reviews with insults and name calling rather than trying to work out solutions concerning a customer's bad experience. I thought we'd try somewhere new and it's half the price as our regular place. I see why now, you get what you pay for. While my dog does smell clean I can't tell if she was really bathed or just wiped down with some scented wipes. I have yet to check to see if her ears were cleaned but her nails were slaughtered, the nails that were cut anyways. Not every nail was cut and those that were are cracked and peeling. In attempting to counsel me about grooming, the staff came across sort of aggressive and defensive, and not very kind or positive. Also not all the services I requested by phone were administered - it turns out you can't request them by phone, but it sounded like we were all set when I hung up. Sooo unfortunately we had a bad experience here. Wish our little doggies (we have two small dogs) could tell us exactly what happened. The first and second groomings went so well. We were surprised shortly after we dropped the pups off for their third grooming, we received a call telling us that there had been an incident and we needed to come pick them up. Our girl dog's right eye was swollen and nearly shut. We were told that she had a freakout and hit her head, obviously pretty hard. The groomer also showed us a scratch on his hand and said she tried to bite him. WTF. This is a shy little dog that has never had temper issues. Our poor little dogs were trembling when we went to pick them up- even the little boy dog, who is usually really easy going. My sister found this place through a coupon, which was 15 bucks for 30 dollars worth of grooming services. So i brought my little panti (kendi) in for a haircut, and i was told that bichons haircuts are typically 48, but with my $30 voucher, there would be a 18 dollar credit. The lady was very nice and it seems like she really likes what she does. They called be 10 minutes before panti was done and when i picked her up she looked nice and white! I don't think i can afford $48 bucks every time panti needs a haircut, so i'll only come if i find some coupons. This was my first time at Happy Pet Parlor. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get a same day appointment on a Saturday. Allison did an amazing job grooming my Wheaten Terrier. Several staff members were very knowledgeable of the proper way to groom a Wheaten. My puppy was very well groomed and very happy when I picked her up. Found HPP via a yelp deal i saw posted, i called and made a grooming appt for 1:30 on a sunday. The directions i received through my phone did not lead me to the correct place. After i struggled to find the location, i filled out the forms and dropped my maltipoo cole off. HPP called me to come pick him up at 5:23, then again at 5:34. Ive never had a place take more than 3 hours, but i didnt mind. this was the only place i noticed who actually trimmed his auxiliary nails (the lil nubs on the side of his paws). however, i noticed that the hair on his ears were not plucked. aside from that, the groomer did a great job. ive attempted to groom cole before, but failed miserably. he was cut as low as possible which i can respect after my failed attempt at grooming. the people were very nice & friendly. the place was less uppity than other places ive been. the best part was that it was only $43 not including my $30 yelp deal. that was definitely the cheapest ive paid for a full grooming. i noticed they didnt have a tip section on their cc receipts =) the groomer said cole was a pleasure to groom & that he is definitely a smart dog. i enjoy hearing feedback about my dog. we will be going again. read more

Won a spa day last year from Almost Home Foundation for my two dogs, Payton (Australian Shep) and Butkus (Rotty/Lab/Husky mix), and we couldn't be more happy with Happy Pet Parlor. We usually use a mobile groomer due to convenience, but the job done by Happy Pet Parlor was above-and-beyond any other groomer we have used in the past! I have been coming to Pet Parlor for almost a year now. 5 star service all the time. The whole staff here is really great and they love animals. Jolie is awesome and once you start coming here it feels like family. You know your furry loved one will be treated like one of their own. The other thing that I love about Jolie is that she helps the shelters tremendously. If you follow them on facebook you'll see how many animals she grooms for them and helps to get adopted. I just feel that her giving them free grooming and her time is enough for me to support her business outside of how great her service is. I will always bring my dogs here to get groomed. :-) Oh and if you don't like something she will fix it for you and the prices are great!! Ok, so the 2nd time I went back in Dec. it was $38 instead of $35... What the junk? Whatever, Only because I like the place. The only thing I don't like is they don't really have a set time when the dog will be done, they say about 2 hrs. Which I kind of understand you can't really have a set time but I did make an appointment and I was sitting around waiting for them to call and it was almost 3 hrs. I prefer my dog not sitting and waiting in one of their cages and I know it doesn't take 3 hours to groom a 6 pound dog. Anyways they do a great cut, just wish they took a little more off around her face but they said if you don't like something come back and they will fix it. I got lazy and never got the cut fixed. Actually it took me a long time to write my review because I couldn't remember being here and then it came to me... I now associate this place with the groomer obnoxiously explaining the "shaving" clause and how most pet groomers are shaving animals against the law. Thank you Officer Pooch Pal. I asked for a hair trim not a shave, I did know about the problems, but I thank you anyways the first time you brought it up, the second time, the third and so forth I was annoyed. Don't get me wrong I very glad that someone cares enough to ensure the safety of our four legged friends, but I don't need to be hounded about it *no pun intended ;). They add feathers in your sidekicks hair which I thought was adorable and safer than dying their fur. I haven't seen this in any other salon yet. I wasn't blown away and my pup didn't seem to care so if I have an emergency and they have a spot I'll return with ear plugs. read more

I came here after searching on yelp for a groomer - and after reading tons of reviews for multiple businesses I settled on trying Happy Pet Parlor. I'd been unable to find a groomer over the last few months so I was desperate to try any place that had awesome reviews, and wasn't just another chain. The thing that really helped me to decide going here is it's a cage free environment without the chaos of dogs running free roam. And I'm so glad I did! I took my two dogs, one of which was a very knotted poodle mix, and they looked great after spending the day getting the full pampered treatment. Happy Pet Parlor was fantastic and Jolie is a great groomer (she had actually been my former groomer that I thought I had lost forever! And so great that it was proving impossible to find any other groomer I could trust. What an awesome surprise to find it was her business I picked out of the dozens on here!) I love this place! I can't wait to bring them back as the prices are fantastic - and so is the rest of the staff at this cute little shop! My dogs were greeted right away and adored, which is something that the 3 of us enjoy. In short - It's hard to find someone that will do a good job grooming high energy dogs, but even harder to find someone that you can trust with your dogs for so long. I would give this place negative rating fo customer service. I dont know what happened with thi place we used to bring our puppy here faithfully 2-3 times per week she loved it. She got older so didnt need as much so we didnt buy as much packages and didnt board as much but thought we knew and trusted there services. To find out last year at labor day weekend that she was supposedly black listed from this puppy day care service. We laughed at first and thought they were joking to find out this wasnt a joke and they were serious but were given the excuse that we had given a bad review on yelp about there services which to clarify we never did or did fel that way. So we left it alone and went on with our lives but it has bothered me so today over 2 months later I felt like I wanted to find out was going on. They called the manager out he was very cocky arrogant all of his maybe 21 years of life experience. Couldn't answer why y dog was singled out as I persisted to ask more info about why my dog had been singled out he then told me I had to exit his business when asked why he said I was bein loud and creating a disturbance mean while he was the only one of us 2 being loud and abrasive and I again told him my dog is just like one of my children and it were one of my children Dcf would be involved and it wouldnt be so funny then. So as I left I knocked on the window and told him to smile he was on candid camera. His arrogant cocky smile should b a warning I strongly advise as a beloved dog owner please this place is not what it used to be. I used to feel so comfortable when I dropped my dog off this place is not what it seems if I were you it's a futher drive but Arlington Dog House in Arlington Heights on Arlington Heights rd. The owner is on site even sleeps with the dogs himself when they are boarded overnight. Make your own decisions of course. Keep in mind I still have no idea why my little puggle thats right puggle was blacklisted from this establishment with no reason except supposedly a bad yelp review that we never placed when she had been attending there since she was 5 months old. Now there will be alot of yelp reviews all negative! Shame on you they are gonna treat yu family lovd one as a animal not as part of the family. Negative 100 stars! Judge or yourself I have never posted any reviews in my 51 years of life but thanks to you happy pets yu have woke up a heartfelt yelper!!! Amazing place for my pooch's to go! They both always come out smelling, and looking amazing! The owner (Jolie) is always very sweet & polite. She explains all policies, and procedures beforehand. My dogs are always done in a timely manor as well. I can't speak more highly of this place! I very much recommend you bring your dog here! If you "like their FB page, you will always be clued in on "deals" going on, as well as what monthly specials are taking place :) read more

I thought I would try a new groomer closer to home for my 2 dogs . I brought one for a skunk bath & although her haircut was nice, she still smelled like a skunk a few hours later. I brought my 2nd dog there after calling for a price quote - they quoted me $53 over the phone , so I made appointment. Picked my dog up & they said $73 ! I told them of my quote.... wouldn't budge - so on that note, well worth the drive to my original groomer for $55 . Shame on them . read more
