But this recent experience was so horrifying that I had to leave my first review about it so other yelpers won't have to experience it... If I can rate this place with 0 stars, I would. WORST customer experience ever! Be prepared to be treated poorly and rudely. They will charge double without your consent and attempt to hold your pet hostage for a service charge you were never aware of. It's a terrible experience that no pet lover should ever go through. The old owners are no longer there. Although they were very nice they sold puppies. Now its a new management and they only specialize in grooming. They no longer sell toy breeds anymore :) The gentleman is really nice, my dog hates groomers period, he will not drag her, he picks her up to take her inside :) they are really nice and do exactly what you want them to do. read more

This was my first time taking my dogs to Happy Puppy for some grooming. The place is clean. I'm satisfied with the end result, considering the fact that I took my dogs on separate days and each time it took them 4-5hours to have the dogs ready and they shaved one of my dog's body to where I can see his skin. Took in my English BullDog "Bruno" today and the place was clean and spotless. I was impressed by the upkeep of the place. I was met by a gentleman who was real helpful and took in Bruno with no reservations. I have gone to a few local groomers and they blew me off cause I brought in a slobbering bulldog. Took 2 hours and upon my return Bruno was looking clean and even had a hankie around his neck. For 35 bucks, they bathed him, cleaned his ears , clipped his nails and even cleaned out his AssHole. I dropped my dog off here once on my lunch hour, it was his first time being groomed. My husband would pick him up after he got off work that evening. He said that when he picked him up he was literally foaming at the mouth and terrified for his life which I naturally thought my husband was over exaggerating. So I started to groom my dog on my own for a while probably about a year or year-and-a-half. Well now I'm having a baby a and grooming isn't so easy anymore so I decided to take him back since the haircut itself wasn't half bad. And the reason for my three star rating.****** Now here's the reason. I'm writing this review when I took my dog back some year and half later he was mortified he was bucking and doing everything possible to not even enter that place he started shaking uncontrollably although the man there was willing to take them at this point I couldn't leave him. So I took him to another local groomer where he walked in willingly and had no problem leaving them there and he definitely was not foaming at the mouth when I picked him up. I have been coming here for about 3 years and the price and service has been declining..... When they first opened they had a coupon for 50% off for first time customer. So my dog's cut was $20 for a medium size pom mix. I called and asked over the phone and they gave me an estimate of $40. Upon arrival, they saw how fluffy my pom mix was more on the bigger side; he's fatter and fluffier. But they were friendly enough to honor the price they gave me on the phone. So I was a happy camper on my first visit. The Korean owners do not pay attention to what you say half the time. I have asked for a complete cut - cut everything for the summer for my dog including legs, tail, behind the ears.. everything! One time they left the legs... so my dog looks unfinished. So I took my dog home with an unfinished hair cut. They also have a card for recording keeping. So they keep track of what they charge you. So with each visitation, they just keep increasing my price of $5 per visit or cut. It started with $40... then $45.... then $50.... then $55.... now $60??? Making more and more excuses. My dog has the same hair condition and it has not changed. They keep saying "long hair". I just think that they are trying to make up their loss by charging other customers because of THE INCIDENT WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMER WHERE THEY CUT THEIR DOG. I love this place as my dog's groomer. I moved to Cerritos a yr ago, I've tried a couple places near me and I wasn't satisfied at all. For the same price, I'd rather make the drive and know that my dog will come out looking clean and cute. It really only takes me 15 min to get there. The workers are always super friendly and quick to get the job done, but without the job looking rushed. You can actually see them grooming the dogs up front and they seem patient and gentle with the dogs. I tip well every time I go in and they are very appreciative. When I took my puppy to get groomed, it came back with fleas. When I went to drop my puppy off, they shoved my puppy (female) inside a male puppy's cage without my permission. The male puppy started humping my puppy, but they didn't even do anything about it until I asked them to separate them. Don't be surprised if your puppy comes home pregnant. read more

I always drove by this place on the way to work, but didn't try their grooming services til today. I called last minute to check their availability for my two dogs, and they were accommodating! They even offered me a discount, don't know if it was because I was a new customer or because I was bringing in two dogs. The cost is less than what I paid at Petco, and better service too! The place is nice and clean, and the worker is just as nice and friendly. IJust picked up my dogs, and they look and smell great. They also put a little bandana around the dogs neck for free, TOO CUTE! This place will be the ONLY place I take my dogs from now on. Couldn't be more satisfied. My mother just told me a story about what happened this morning. She takes her Maltese for a cut and she has been paying 35 dollars every time she had the service done. When it was time to pick up the dog, the groomer up sells her and tried to charge her 80 dollars because of all the tangles on the dog's hair. My mother complained and asks why she wasn't told this beforehand or at least a phone call to warn about the cost (they usually call when the dog is ready to be picked up). The Korean man tried to hold our dog hostage and forced my mother to give up all her cash to make up the 80 owed. In the end, my mother gave up 60 dollars (all the cash she had) in order to get her dog out of that place. He even asked her to give up the coins and single bills he saw in her purse while she pulled out her cash. Even implied to use her credit cards, rudely! After all the fiasco, he takes the dog's files and ripped it into pieces. That was the only record showing she's been paying and they've been charging her 35 each visits before!! Rude, disrespectful, and dishonest business. I don't understand why they did this....SMH. I used to recommend this place to all my friends that looks for groomers. Good pet grooming but ethics not so good. They kept raising the price every time we went. We started from 60, then to 65, and now they want us to pay $80. Also, they leave the dogs unattended on the table. A dog unattended jumped twice and got caught by the leash around the neck. It could've died. Just imagining the possibility of that happening to my dogs makes me angry. I told them not to leave the dogs alone before, but they didn't even listen. Ugh. They don't even care for the safety of the dogs. Don't take your dogs there if you want them to have a nice, safe, grooming!!! read more

I've been taking my dog here for more than 5 years, and I have never had a problem with them. They always leave my dog looking cute and clean. This past year my dog has developed heart problems and she begins to hyperventilate a lot now. So this past week I took to get groomed since it's been getting really hot and I wasn't sure how much her heart would tolerate the experience. I advise them about her health and to gentle with her. They actually allowed me to be there while she got groomed so she wouldn't get nervous and begin to hyperventilate. They did an awesome job and was quick, my dog tolerated it better than I expected. I have been taking my dog to Happy Puppy for over 6 months now and this place is great. I have a crazy dog, he is very uncontrollable but here its no problem. Our family always feels bad when we take our dog to get groomed because of how hyper he is but here the groomers seems to genuinely love the dogs and handle the dogs with care. I can tell that they take their time and doesn't force the dogs down or anything because my dog doesn't seem stressed after and wasn't scared to go in the next visit. I'm aware there are few groomers that work there but the main groomer that we always look for is the best. She definitely knows how to handle the dogs well and my dog seems to like her as well.
