Small spot located in San Souci. There's only a few tables, so it may be best for takeout. When we arrived they told us a table was reserved so it seems you can call to reserve a table. They do not take online reservations. It doesn't look like much, but the food is excellent and the portions are very large. I ordered a snow crab and shrimp combo, combined all three seasonings and opted for medium seasoning but could've gone for the hot. I wasn't sure how spicy the seasoning would be which is why I opted for medium. We also added a side of hush puppies which were very good. The food came out very quickly, less than ten minutes after ordering. My only complaint was they only had plastic silverware which made it extremely difficult to eat the snow crab claws. read more

Our daughter wanted a seafood boil for her birthday, so we decided to try Happy Seafood House. We have lived in the area over 9 years and unfortunately haven't tried it. Best crab boil in southern MD. Fair prices and big portions . It's a Very small place with just 3-4 tables but definitely worth it.

Don't go 26 hours without eating, then dive in to seafood soaking in "Happy Cajun" butter. The stomach must have something prior to the experience! The seafood was "good", and the sauce was very good. I ordered it mild and it had just enough spice to give the mouth a pop. My husband's jumbo.fried shrimp basket was very disappointing. They were only appeared to be jumbo due to the preparation. They butterfly them so the look big. They are deep fried from fresh, but then FROZEN in bulk (‍ don't ever do that). They were refried for his order. This made the shrimp mushy and unappealing. Yuk. *We know this because our waitress told us the process; then went onto say that she felt it wasnt freshly cooked, as they advertise. She is right.** The calamari was the same way (or prepackaged.) The cocktail sauce was runny and more ketchup than horseradish or spices. Not good at all. The onion rings were definitely the plain, everyday prepackaged blah. Hushpuppies were "okay" but not true; they had corn in them. (one customer complained that it should be a corn fritter). They were served with a tiny plastic condiment cup hold 1/8" of honey for dipping. They have a limited beer and cider list. No mixed drinks, wine, etc was offered. Its6 during COVID19 so I'm hoping that's the reason?? Basic Pepsi products. Didn't see any real (fresh brewed) iced tea listed. That would have been a nice option. If I went back, it would be for another "boil" and only if its in that sauce...but I think I can figure it out in my own kitchen and not pay their prices. ($40.00 for snow crab legs and shrimp boil). Several weeks ago, my husband and I saw that this place would be opening soon and wanted to try it. Since we live in PG County, the only time we would be able to go would be Sunday when we come down to Leonardtown for worship service. Today was the day and we are so happy that we did. The atmosphere, from the time you walk in, is extremely welcoming. We were greeted by June who is the sweetest woman! We then met her husband Zach who is equally kind. We were informed by them that they had just opened two days ago and we were there 18th customer! My husband later told Zach that he wanted a t-shirt with Happy Seafood and 18 on it. LOL!! The restaurant offers a variety of seafood and also a number of combos, with your choice of sauces. My husband decided to get the snow crab and shrimp (1 lb) combo and I got the mussels and clams (1 lb) combo. AMAZING!! The portion was large and the price was affordable. The seafood was steamed to perfections, well seasoned, and very tasty. Did I mention the customer service? FANTASTIC!!! We later met Jessica and her husband John who were just as nice as Zach & June. We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and cannot wait until I can visit them again. Thank you all for such an awesome dining experience. We will return! read more

I've had Happy Seafood House on my "try it out" list for a while and finally made it tonight. I have to say it was excellent. Since we're still in the time of COVID as of writing this, I got take out. I was with a couple other family members so we decided to try a few different things with a variety of sauces. The Cajun sauce was my favorite I think, even though the wow/boom combination of all three was excellent, too. It was a little dominated by the garlic butter sauce but not at all in a bad way. Excellent flavors, perfectly cooked. The takeout was provided in double bagged form with a potato, corn, and (for my order) lots of shrimp and crab legs. At first we laughed at the bags but they were transported and held the meals perfectly and we just wrapped up the mess when done. So simple and yet very clever. We got a side of hush puppies (highly recommend at least one order...) and they came with honey. We also tried an order of gumbo which had a nice flavor. More subtle than the boils. Overall, very happy with the experience and would recommend. Slightly pricey but reasonable considering it's seafood prepared very well. This location has been home to a few restaurants in the past few years. This one deserves to be there a long time. I've been missing a place like this since I left Arlington (think Chasing Tails or Asiantique if you're familiar). Concept for now is steamed or fried seafood smothered in a variety of cajun spiced sauces or dry rubs. Today was my third visit since they've been open, and each time my go to has been the Crawfish in the WOW sauce. They're cooked perfectly, but I will admit the sauce is lacking something. Today I did the clams, crawfish, and hush puppies and all were awesome and very well priced. You also get a fountain drink included with certain meals -- lemonade wasn't bad. Only negative thing I can really say is that they only throw one small potato and piece of corn with each pound. As a spicehead the "Fire" level of spicy didn't really have a kick -- but may to some people. Overall this is definitely going to be a weekly stop for me, and hope they can beat the curse that that building seems to have on it. read more

I got the mussels and clams combo boil, which has corn on the cob and boiled potatoes in it as well. It comes with a choice of 3 sauces that you can order mild or spicy. I got it a mild combo of the three sauces. The sauce was very spicy. Glad that I ordered it mild. The mussels were the best I've had. Nice and large and plenty of them. We also got a cup of gumbo and some hush puppies. Very good value. They three in two cans of Coke. All around a good value. Try it if you like seafood. Chicken tenders if mot going seafood. I drive past Happy Seafood House all the time and have always wanted to stop in. We decided to give them a try one Friday night for dinner. I got the Shrimp and Crab Legs (1/2 pound each) with the WOW spice with medium spiciness. My partner got the same but with the butter and garlic and mild spiciness. We both thought we could go up a level on the spiciness so I'll try that next time. The potatoes that come in the bag are a good relief from all of the spice. My mom got the fried shrimp with onion rings and really enjoyed her meal too. We'll be back! read more

No problems ordered another lb of snow legs. 1 hr later the waitress comes and says that she put in the order and the kitchen didn't make it. To top it all off they had the audacity to ask if I still wanted my food. Hell yeah I wanted them. But I said forget it. They had already begun sweeping and closing, and I don't like being rushed. Bad management is the problem!!! No one came to address the situation or check on us. Just a note that we were the only guests in the place, not like they were swamped with orders. Just another unsatisfied customer to them. I couldn't even begin to tell you how pissed I am. I left hungry and dissatisfied. I will NEVER RETURN. Shrimp boil was overcooked but pretty tasty. 5. Fried Whitefish was not Whiting and was mostly breading. All you could taste was breading. 6. Not a full bar as advertised and no bartender. Didn't have gin or tonic. 7. Waitress was honest and very pleasant. 8. Price was extremely high for 1 1/2 pounds of shrimp. Could have gotten 4 pounds at the store for the same price and steamed myself. 9. Waitress admitted everything comes in frozen in a box. Folks, please try harder. Ordered food for pickup today for a group of us and was really happy with the food! All the seafood was fresh and cooked well. The Boom seasoning was amazing! And the buttery garlic was too! Most of us got medium to gauge the spice level, which has just a tiny bit of heat. Those of us who want spicy food will probably go up a level next time. The buffalo wings were cooked perfectly and the sauce comes on the side. The buffalo sauce is a sweet/spicy and was delicious. Our combo was cooked perfectly and delicious too. I gave this place 2 stars because their steamed seafood looked so good. I had their oysters which were terrible. I suspect the oil in their fryer was old and needed to be changed since all their fried foods tasted pretty nasty (mine and my wife's). On top of that who puts a hard shell breading on oysters? The restaurants appearance was nice and it was very clean. The waitress was very nice. Only problem was that the food was terrible. In St. Mary's county that's rediculous. I went inside to check on my food after the time I was told to wait. I went in to grab my bag as I saw a order was on the table ready. The owner I assume, stopped me before I could check to see if it was mine as if I wasn't a paying customer and was about to steal someone's food? WTF? Your restaurant is empty and why would I steal seafood? I just walked out of your restaurant 10 minutes ago? This restaurant was a hit for our family! We arrived in Solomons Island for the summer a few days ago and found that a couple of restaurants close to us was just not what we hoped for and was overpriced for the value. We decided to take a drive away from the water and found this gem! What a treat, we all really enjoyed the feast. It fed the three of us and our younger son.
