JT's Cove is a new family-owned restaurant that just opened in February, and my wife and I decided to give it a try after a friend recommended it. We stopped in around 3pm, just after the lunch rush, and sat at the bar. The bartender greeted us right away, took our drink order, and even walked us through the menu, sharing favorites and pointing out his family members who all help run the place. It was nice to see a true family-run operation. My wife ordered the combination platter (4 crab balls and 1/2 lb steamed shrimp) with onion rings and a side salad. I had the stuffed shrimp with crab. Both meals were excellent, well-prepared, and came with generous portions -- enough that we had leftovers to enjoy for dinner the next night. I saw a negative review calling this place "just a bar with overpriced frozen food," which doesn't line up with our experience. First, nearly every restaurant these days has higher menu prices (even our bowling alley charges $7 for a hot dog). Second, our food tasted fresh, not frozen. As for the "smell of sewage" they mentioned, all we noticed was the normal aroma of fried food. Overall, we had a great first visit -- good food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Best spot around town! During our visit we maybe ate here 8 times or so. We love the service and hospitality. Food is amazing and their crab cakes are the best. We've had their seafood boils, crab cakes, fried catfish, crab balls, and snow crab and shrimp plates. All of it was delicious with no filler. Their crab cakes felt like it was nothing but crab and their catfish were thick filets. We enjoyed every bit of time we spent here, the owner was nice and her service made the place feel welcome. read more

Service, drinks, and food were all outstanding. My wife got the grilled haddock and it couldn't have been better -- two nice sized pieces of fish perfectly cooked. I highly recommend the shrimp appetizer. Place is a little on the small size with just 12 tables so getting in can be a challenge. We went exactly at 5pm and it was already packed. Excellent seafood spot in Leonardtown. The seating inside can get a little crowded at peak hours, but we've never had an issue getting a table. They also have a great outdoor seating area in the back. The food is excellent. It's pretty simple fare: fries fish, fried clams, fried hush puppies (seeing a theme?), but they do it well. The hush puppies are the best I've ever had, no question. The ambience is pretty good - it feels like eating at one of the many local dives in Cape Cod. Your server is likely one of the owners, and the staff seem genuinely happy to be there. I highly recommend. read more

Basically, a bar that serves overpriced frozen food. The odor emanating from the bathrooms followed up by the arrival of the septic pump truck was very appetizing. You definitely want to skip this dining experience. read more

I generally don't like crab cakes that are filler free-- they are usually on the flavorless side--but these were well seasoned and buttery; the only filler-free crab cakes I would put in my "favorites" list. We consider ourselves to be hush puppy connoisseurs and theirs were really good! Fries were pretty average. Would definitely return! read more

The food here is delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. We had cream of crab soup which was super creamy and smooth with lump crab meat and made with sherry. Also had the crab dip, which was seasoned well and served with baguette slices. Other items worth mentioning were the well-seasoned greens and lump-meat crab cake which must have been held together with love and care because there certainly wasn't any filler that we could see! The hush puppies were soft inside but crisp on the outside. This is a real gem on the back streets of Leonardtown, but with food this good, they won't remain a secret for long!! read more

What a true gem. There were 7 of us and they made it worth the 30 min wait. Service on point from the smile on our beautiful waitress Teanna to getting it right. Very generous portions and it was delicious! We had haddock, fried oysters and fried shrimp cooked to perfection.
