Happy Town Chinese Restaurant is hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants in College Point. I've been a customer for almost two decades, and they have always been consistent. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and prepared just right. Customer service is excellent, ambiance is good and the employees are friendly and welcoming every time. Updated Review: I ordered lunch special for chicken cabbage with Lo mein noodle garlic sauce. I was very disappointed with the food once I got home and tried to eat it. The noodles looked overcooked and it seemed like they gave me pieces and bits of leftover chicken from another order because the amount of chicken was extremely little compared to what I used to order. The most disappointing part is that the food was so bland and had no flavor whatsoever. I decided to give a call and asked about it nicely. The lady who answered the phone was very rude. She raised her voice from the beginning while yelling it was my fault that I asked for garlic sauce. I was patiently listening but she continued to yell with attitude without even saying sorry. I tried to tell her nicely again that she should have given me a clear explanation about the sauce but she kept going on and on. That was when I had to defend myself. She then hung up on me. After been going here for almost a decade, it's time I look for a new Chinese restaurant. There are soooo many Chinese restaurants opening up in the area and I won't be missing this place. Horrible , I ordered food and told them I was going to pay with card. I was about to pay and the man said "how much tip" I said zero , and he started yelling saying how about his car, he doesn't have enough for his car. I told him I was going to tip him in cash , he started acting normal again and started being nice. I called the place and told them about it, to be honest I doubt they fired him. The food was unfortunately extremely greasy. I had ordered several combination platters and it was difficult for myself and my family to eat. One of the orders was the fried chicken wings and there was oil dripping out of it. The bottom of the platters were filled with oil, at least 1/2 inch of the bottom of the container was entirely grease. read more

As good as a fast food Chinese food restaurant can be. I usually order from Kaiying or Happytown and both are pretty much the same.. I always get something from the Lunch Special because they give you a soup or a soda...I usuay get the hot and sour soup.. Pretty decent food and good service. read more

Pretty good. I have been looking for a go to Chinese place around here. This could be it. Its the first place I'm actually willing to try a second time. I ordered fried wontons and an order of chicken lo mein. The chicken lo mein had a lot of cabbage in it but overall tasty and flavorful. Portions are large and I ordered a small. I'll be eating this for a week, haha. The fried wontons were good. Thought they would be cheese filled but they were pork I believe. Still tasty even though it wasn't what I was expecting. I really wanted chicken with bamboo shoots. Their menu on "all menu pages" shows bamboo shoots in their specialty but they insisted they didn't have any when I called to order. When I arrived for my takeout order I showed them it's listed on my phone and they directed me to their paper menu which does not show bamboo. A bit disappointed about that. I didn't have cash and as my first time there I didn't know they had a $12 minimum order for credit cards. They however told me if I got a drink I would be over $10 and they would let me use my card which was nice. But now I know for next time. Their online menu is on various sites but is out of date and prices are way off. I've taken a picture of their paper menu as of today 7/27/14 to hopefully help someone else. This is my go to chinese take out. My parents recently started ordering food from this place, maybe 3 months ago, and they love it. I love how the food is affordable but so worth it.The shrimps they use for their dishes are huge! Way better than the other take out restaurants that use small shirmps. The staff is so nice, and they are so quick. If you specify that you want the noodles too be softer/firmer they will be able to make it to your needs! My grandmother can only eat soft foods and when I told the staff there, they were able to make it perfectly. read more

Actually would like to give Happy Town 10 Stars as the food is fresh and tasty. They actually run out of our faves on occasion which is ok by me because that means it's fresh food. I watch them making food right in front of me - shrimp, green beans, wontons, etc. Say Mary across the street sent you and Jenny or Ivy will give you a beautiful smile and delicious food. i am a person who likes lunch special from restaurants bc it is cheap haha i like this place. my favorite is beef with broccoli. its taste is good and valueable for lunch speacial price (6.25$). I really enjoy their lunch special--super affordable for the amount of food they give you. It comes with either soup or soda. My number one go-to Chinese place, and living in the area I live in, that says a lot. Lo-Mein, dumplings, pork fried rice, chicken and rice soup, chicken and broccoli, you name it! All very good food. They also deliver and the prices are reasonable, portions are okay. The cashier took the order and put half a chicken to fry when the chef took control of the half chicken, the smart chef decided to put it back to the fryer and did it in front of me. I expected it to have a delicious taste but it was not good. Over fried half chicken with shrimp fried rice, egg drop soup, Plantain: Total 11 dollars. The order to take out even damaged the container from the excessive heat after packaging. Another restaurant on the same side of the block, K Y, did better. I thought if you have visual access to the kitchen it will be better food. I was wrong. The experience 2 weeks before at the K Y restaurant was completely different no matter the partial access view of the kitchent and the taste was better my mother claimed. First and last time to visit Happy Town Chinese kitchen or restaurant not recommended to anybody. They do not know their profession. They look like auto mechanics cooking.
