I was in a jamb and needed some oil based kilz. I knew they closed in 7 minutes and was approx 7 minutes away. I called ahead to confirm they really closed at 6pm and when the associate answered he confirmed they did close at 6pm and asked me what I needed. I told him what I was rushing in for and he said yes we have it and I'll bring it up to the register for you to help. By far the BEST Ace hardware store in town...and I don't just mean Happy Valley! ALL the kids ( I use that term loosely). that work there are normal intelligent human beings. Their sincere customers service was well received and it made me want to spend my retirement money. I WILL drive all the way from the deep SE to patron this excellent business from now on. You need to make the trek to see their collection of supplies. It's well stocked with almost any tool you may need at home. And I know it's not just me...I dragged my hermit hippie neighbor in to shop for bird seed and she ended up with the same thought! As we dove home with her six bags of bird seed and my new grass seed...We concur--Covid-19 did not kill EVERYTHING. Leo at the Happy Valley location gave us incredible service over the weekend. We had two leaky faucet/spigots that we couldn't get to stop, even after a previous stop at a different hardware store. Leo took the time to problem solve in great detail and was able to get the correct pieces needed, even showing us how to install correctly. Shout out to Stuart, the owner/manager and his colleague, Quinn. I just had the nicest experience Went over and above in customer service with a patio set I had ordered online. And refused to accept a cash 'gratuity' when it was offered. It is not the first time I have had really good service at this local Ace. Michelle, who is much more than the cashier, is ALWAYS so helpful in finding the person I need to help me. Couple of weeks ago, Keith was very helpful in helping assemble a small BBQ stand I was at my wits end trying to get together. Very nice people. Very helpful and carried our supplies to our car. Called back and they ordered what we needed. Drew was terrific.

We pulled up at 6:00 and this man was waving at us and telling us to go away in a very rude tone of voice. They said "we close at 6:00 pm!". I mentioned I only needed one item which was a glue. He said " yes we have it but we're closed so go away". We drove all the way from Gresham for this specialty item. Outrageous customer service. We were doing a favor for our elderly mother who will not leave due to COVID-19. Very disappointed in ACe hardware! read more

If I could go lower I would due to being told some one would be out to fill propane tank. After waiting fifteen mins I walked by the front with three employees standing at the counter. I'm not interested in going back to this store any time soon I'll go else we're. This is not the first time but will be the last. Says on their website and google they close at 7pm. I drive out of my way to get there in time and they say they close at 6pm. I told them their website says they're open until 7pm and asked if I could just grab one quick thing. They didn't care at all that they're providing customers with false information. First of all let me start by saying this is a great store lots to choose from at fairly reasonable prices but with that said the half-dozen times I've been in here I felt like I was under close surveillance only because I think the employees out number the customer's 5 to 1, constantly being asked "if I'm doing okay or if I need any assistance" I come in here for parts and pieces working on my house and other hobbies or projects in my dirty clothes and Scruffy face maybe I look like I'm stealing a screw or two in my pocket to the employees, I assure you that's not the case maybe back off and wait for somebody to ask you for help or assistance don't judge a book by its cover! read more

Went in here today for a new sprinkler head that was broken off. I had the broken head with to use as an example. This big guy with a beard happened to wobble out of the bathroom right when I was in front of the sprinklers. I said excuse me and showed him the clearly broken part. His reply was "what?", okay off to a bad start so I said "I'm looking for a new sprinkler head". He seemed to be bothered by the fact that I didn't know the exact part name or number so he was determined to make my experience uncomfortable. He had this really shitty tone and kept acting like I was bothering him. He just stood back while I sorted thru the different heads. I exclaimed that I didn't know what to look for and he replied with "they're right here" to about 50 different types. Oh thanks! That narrows it down. So then I read the writing off the top of the head to him "it says HE-VAN-10 on it". He says "that tells me nothing"... And proceeds to shrug his shoulders. At this point I have had it with the attitude. So I said in a firm tone "never mind I will figure this out on my own". He then stood behind me completely silent, presumably rolling his eyes or trying to think of another shitty thing to say to me... Then he slumped away without a word while I sorted thru the sprinkler heads. I am giving them 2 stars because A) they had the prt I needed for $2.50 and B) the cashiers were very friendly. Oh and also, I could tell he ran off to talk shit on me to his friends as they all gave me the stink eye as I was leaving. All this said, there was another guy with a smaller beard and shorts on out front that was super friendly and the cashier was nice. Maybe this guy is just a bad apple... The employee's at the Ace Hardware on Sunnyside Rd. in Happy Valley are the best! I checked with Home Depot & Lowes trying to find a special hose with dual hook-up connectors to go from the faucets in my laundry room to connect to my washer. They didn't have them and offered no help. Decided to go to Ace and and they didn't have what I needed either, but the employee (wish I remembered his name) looked and looked online and found the exact part I needed so he ordered it and it arrived a couple days later. When it came in they called to tell me it came and the employee stayed after his shift until I got there to make sure it fit the connecting hose. I will now always check with Ace first before going to the big box hardware stores. Great friendly customer service! read more

I will always try to support a neighborhood business before I head off to a big chain. I have given this store many chances and I just cant do it anymore. First are the hours if you need anything on a weekend or during the week that is either late or early in the day forget it there closed.If you do manage to get into the store during business hours you will not get much help and when you do the staff will be rude and condescending. the last purchase I made there was for wood putty and when I spoke with the gentleman I let him know that I needed one that was stain able. He promptly handed me one and said this would work. As I was waiting to check out I was reading the jar and right there in black and white it says not stain able. Between the poor hours and the horrible customer service I will be driving instead of walking to other hardware stores from now on. read more

I had great help and advice when I went to Ace on Sunnyside to buy paint. One person who helped gave me a demonstration on how to fill holes with spackle without it being noticeable, another put my paint neatly in a bag so nothing spilled, and the paint expert was enthused about paint and she gave me pointers. Poor customer service. I went here and bought a new lawn mower blade and it did not fit my mower and tried to return it to the store the next day with the receipt and packaging and the guy at the counter would not help at all he said since he couldn't resell it as new I couldn't do anything. I tried to contact the manager and left a message and e mailed still have not heard back from him this was 2 weeks ago save you time and money there are other hardware stores close by that will be happy to help you. read more
