I love a good coupon and I rarely get over to this area but I am glad I did! I went in blind but I have quite a few house projects going. I am always on the hunt for something unique to help out...such is the life of a home owner, especially one who likes to do what I can on my own. This is such a great spot - parking right out front so you can easily get in and out with your purchases. The store is also small but mighty! They have a lot packed in here for your needs. They are sooooo helpful at this store. I was so flustered because I couldn't figure out which size screw I needed to attach my new car license plates. Chris came out to look at my car, tried multiple different screws and even helped me jimmy my car because the screw holes in the plates didn't match up with the screw holes on the back of the car. I hadn't even realized that was the case until he was helping me. He solved the problem 100% and so very graciously. Twice now, I've looked online at a big box store's website to find a gardening product I needed. It was clearly part of the inventory at my local store, but when I went to the store, the clerk put in the SKU as listed on the website and got the error message, "Invalid SKU." Very disconcerting. Then I remembered Woodstock Hardware, which has a lovely garden area and a very wide selection of all things hardware. Great neighborhood store, with an impressive amount of stock given the store's relatively compact size. Each time I've stopped in I was looking specifically for a couple of items, and each time I was helped by an employee who either handed me what I came in for or directed me to where items were shelved. Twice I've had duplicate keys made there, all of which worked later on when I tried them at home. Can't say that about every place I've had keys made! The store also has a small inside garden area that offers not only a variety of supplies and tools but also potted plants, cactuses, and succulents. Never Fails to Disappoint I want to love this place so bad. Hardware stores are my happy place. I have lived close by for 10 years now. My first experience at the store was great. The staff was helpful and kind. Every visit since has not been great. Due to this, I have only visited about once per year and walk away vowing never to come back. I like to figure things out on my own. I like a puzzle. If I've made it to the hardware store for help, I'm stumped. My questions are usually odd because I don't know the "correct" way of doing something and have a weird project that I've decided I can do on my own. I probably don't ask the questions in the correct way but I think I get myself across well by hand gestures, pictures and lots of information. The salesman on my last visit didn't really listen to me. After I told him my project and where I needed help, he gave me some ridiculous suggestions. Even I, with my limited knowledge, knew his suggestions were sh**. I got the feeling, as with other visits, that my project wasn't worth their time and that zero effort would be put in by the salesman. What is it Woodstock? Is it because I'm a woman? Is it because I'm an "older" woman? Is it because my projects are small? Why don't you want to help me? I am not a huge fan of Home Depot but they get 100% of my business because Woodstock keeps breaking my heart. The store itself is great-- well, except the expansive nursery area that features a wide selection of dead and dying plants. The one star is for the crude and unhelpful staff. I believe that the store got new owners a year or two ago and the customer service went so far downhill that I won't go there any more, even though it is 5 blocks from my house. I actually made an exception yesterday (12/12/22) because I really needed something but a sales guy just stood there (no hello or welcome) eyeing me like I might steal something and then finally sauntered over and said "Whaddaya need?" in an unhelpful tone. I'd been looking for license plate bolts for my car, and didn't want to get a big set of them at either Home Depot or online. We were in the Woodstock neighborhood to meet up with friends for dinner, and I thought I'd try my luck out. Sure enough, they had the bolts sold per piece, and at .65 cents each, I was able to get what I needed locally. They've got all sorts of bolts/screws available and labeled by need. The cashier was super friendly, and even put them in a small envelope with the specs. Ace's motto definitely applies to this store. read more

My favorite hardware store. The staff is so kind and helpful. We're working on our first major renovation in an old house so there are a lot of things we're figuring out on the fly. The team at Woodstock Hardware has never been condescending instead they've spent so much time problem solving with us on what parts would work and allowed us to return if they didn't. They've gone above and beyond to help us out. In addition their stock list is great. We've run in to grab anything from coffee filters to plumbing parts that specialty plumbing stores didn't seem to have in stock. read more

This business may want to consider counseling their staff against openly discussing how unbelievable it is that the government is trying to prevent them from owning guns with high capacity magazines and how any type of gun restriction isn't constitutional... while in earshot of anyone with a logical or analytical mind who cares about the safety of children in schools or the innocent and elderly in grocery stores. Especially while the conversant individual is wearing a bullet proof vest while making the argument, thus clearly understanding the danger of firearms to his personhood. The store has a good selection of hardware and supplies and the plant additions are really nice, good nursery out back. Management, you should read this review...I'm giving 2 stars for some serious reasons...it would be a 4.5 star experience except for these two things. The sexual harassment issue of the employee is truly concerning. I'm giving them two stars for two specific reasons. Here is the first reason. The staff is younger, which in itself is not a bad thing. They could pass as roadies for a metal band, which also is not a bad thing (we all could use a little metal in our life). BUT they can lack some of the maturity needed when you're trying to get help or pay at the register. Each time I've been at the register the person helping me has been engaged in cross talk with the other cashier or another employee, not listening directly to my questions about wanting to use a coupon or for information about something. Poor eye contact and really giving one the feeling that their presence is not a priority. Fix this, it's customer service 101 and the reason we want to shop at a neighborhood store is to connect with our local community and support them and local labor. 'Hey how are you? Did you find everything you needed?' It's not complicated to do this rather than talking about a television show with your bro at the other register while you're checking out our purchase. The second reason for the low rating is more concerning. It deserves no stars. Another young employee joined recently (or maybe it's just the first time I've seen them), a female, and a more senior male employee approached her and was giving her what appeared to be an unwanted shoulder rub and touching her in ways that did not look comfortable while she was behind the counter. Her body language did not appear to be inviting this. This was very uncomfortable to watch and I can only imagine how she was feeling and I hope something is done about it. Don't allow someone to be put in that position, it's sexual harassment, it's not ok and is tremendously disturbing. I regret I didn't say something about it at the time, please DO speak up when you see this happen. read more

Please only shop here and support them. Go local - not big box. Woodstock Hardware has everything you might ever need. I've gone to them with the most random requests and somehow they've always had what I was I need of in stock. Their kitchen section is amazing and they have gadgets I didn't even realize existed. Their employees are super knowledgeable and friendly. If you have a problem, they will help you figure out what you need to do to fix it. They also go above and beyond. My car had an issue that left me stranded on the road today. I didn't know who to call or what to do. I decided to call Woodstock Hardware because they are always so nice and helpful. I thought they would be able to direct me to a place to call for help. Instead, they sent someone over right away who solved the issue and wouldn't let me pay them for the effort. They don't know me and they didn't have to do this, but they did. I am forever grateful and love them even more after this. read more

Easy to park and find what I need without taking me all day. I love their skate shop located in the store as well. I really liked this store at one point. I've bought many things here. The one thing I don't like and has happened multiple times, is that the employees here, especially the taller gentleman with a beanie, and longer hair gloom over you and mean mug you like you're out to steal. Stealing sucks, but I think it's important to properly profile your customers. They group around a computer watching the camera, but also eye you down. Say hi at least? Normally I try to give small local businesses the benefit of the doubt. However, here are my issues with this place. The customer service is atrocious. Either the employee is super knowledgeable, and therefore smug, or they can't answer any questions and can barely point you in the right direction. The prices are high, which I over looked for convenience and expertise. But without outstanding customer service, all they offer is a small selection and high prices. Example: I was finishing up a bathroom plumbing project. I needed some fixtures to adapt a couple of connections. I arrived with 15 minutes to spare before closing ( 5pm on Sunday). I was greeted immediately with "need help finding something, we're closing soon". I explained what I needed, maybe not using all the right terminology, and was quickly ushered to the plumbing section. No help. As I was looking over hoses and fixtures, a different employee reminded me they were closing soon and asked if I needed help. I was clearly being rushed, didn't care for it, and left. Point is, if you're going to have a small selection and high prices, your customer service better be top notch. Theirs is not. I've been gainfully employed for over 15 years, and when the occasion calls for it, you go above and beyond for your customer/employer. But maybe that's just me. Either way, in the future I will be giving my money to Home Depot. With their prices and YouTubes expertise, places like Woodstock hardware will soon be a distant memory. Update: went to George Morlan on foster. Was immediately greeted with help and expertise. Had exactly what I needed for under $10. I have given this store three chances as it is in my neighborhood. Every time I have gone in I leave SO pissed off. The staff is very rude. If you ask for help they act angry. No one wants to help you. First time I went in looking for plant fertilizer. Went into the nursery section, there was not one shopper to be seen. I asked the guy standing behind the counter doing nothing if he could help me. He rudely pointed to an isle and said "look there". Sorry if I asked you to actually do your job! Second time I went in I was treated so rudely that I just walked out. SO, decided to try one more time...I needed a specific nail. The guy took my nail and threw it on the floor and pointed to a metal bin "look in there". Once again, sorry for asking you to do your job! I then asked a girl to help me with something else, she acted like I was really bothering her and said she would find someone to help me. Again...sorry you have to do your job. Another guy came to "help" me. His attitude was horrible! I wanted to throttle him - I was so angry - I just left. I went to Wichita Hardware and was treated right and they helped me with everything I needed. If you want abusive treatment by entitled jerks then go to Woodstock Ace. I, for one, will NEVER set foot in there again!! read more

Love this store tucked in Woodstock!! When am I going to learn...instead of trekking every where else and finally coming here in desperation..just come here first! The guys are helpful...and I usually don't know what I am talking about. They BEST part is the plants nursery in the back that you would miss if you weren't looking!! I didn't know there were sizes and quantities of landscape pins! They have them! Native plants? More than most big bix stores! Hardware...it is amazing how much inventory can get stuffed in that little space and it still looks organized. Just keep doing what you are doing guys and this world will be a better place!! This is the antithesis of Home Depot. It's small. It's 'hood. The folks here are friendly and not wearing aprons. And while the selection is not nearly as large, they have most of what you could need for any hardware desire. Woodstock Hardware has become a new regular stop for me since I'm working on a house project in the area. Sure, the big box store is convenient if you need 1,000 different things all at once, or an appliance, or something else you wouldn't normally find at a hardware store (like lumber). But the quality of products and service here make me feel fine and dandy stopping here for my hardware and Mr. Plywood for my lumber. Also if you come by during the right time of year, the Girl Scouts may be out front selling cookies. And who doesn't love those? read more
