What can I say!! Love Love Love everything here. It's like a dream...to have a Cuban pastry shop that is cruelty free. Its ALL Vegan........ so YAY!!! I don't have to question or enquire or hope that the frying is not in the same oil as meat. As a vegetarian residing in South Florida for unending years - I have longed to try croquettes. But have always hesitated as am not sure of the cooking methods. Let me tell you that these were delicious - flaky and crisp yet buttery. No dry unpalatable taste - I fact I was devouring croquettes and it felt so delicious, guilt free and great! The pastelito was amazing too. Especially the guava and spinach and cheese! Just Heaven!!! Empanadas are chock-a-block filled with yummy fillings. Loved the meat and potatoes and Chikn & potato. Papa Rellenos were perfect warmed up in a toaster oven the next day. And all this yummy ness is covered by kind, patient, smiling bakers!! What more can one ask for??? Parking is easy although my Google took me around the place. They have ample seating space inside and a couple of tables outside that might work later in the year. The coffee and fresh fruit juice were incredible. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH THE SOME NERVE! My Wife and I live in Boca Raton a (1) HOUR DRIVE from this place. She called to see what the pickup process was, the guy who answered the phone said that the food would take 30 MINUTES to make. Due to the fact that the food would sit for 30 MINUTES and we DIDN'T want food that would be COLD she told him she would call back in 30 MINUTES and we did, that's where the APPALLING MADNESS HAPPENED! When she called the same guy answered and asked if he had spoken to her a while ago, she said that she had called in 30 minutes prior and had told him she was calling back and she did. He then told her he had written her order down and that it would be ready. She told him that she never ordered anything and was now calling to order at this point we were about 15 minutes away. He kept accusing her of ordering a bunch of stuff and didn't let her talk. He named off the things he had written down which were NONE OF THE ITEMS WE WERE INTERESTED IN. I highly doubt that she was the ONLY WOMAN to call within that time window. I'm addition to that he NEVER even confirmed her name, number or anything which AUTOMATICALLY NEGATED ANY VALIDATION IN WHAT HE WAS SAYING. He was VERY rude and condescending and was EXTREMELY LUCKY that my wife didn't want to hand me the phone because I was driving. She asked to speak to the Owner and you can hear the Owner in the background saying that she "Didn't feel like talking". We are dumb founded that ANY RESTAURANT OWNER especially during these times would have the nerve to refuse to speak to a upset customer especially after overhearing that we were DRIVING from over (1) HOUR away! Incredible place! The young lady who attended me at the window was incredibly knowledgeable about all the products. I decided to pass by this morning because I had been dying to pass by since I heard about the cafe and I have a brother who is vegan and I wanted to surprise him with some yummy treats for breakfast! The lady who answered the call spoke Spanish and when my husband began speaking English (since he doesn't know Spanish) her whole tone changed completely. BEST vegan pastelitos in south Florida, my entire family enjoys them! I've tried almost everything they sell and have not been disappointed. The staff is friendly and the place is very cute. Because they are "specialty" pastelitos that are made vegan they won't be as cheap as la carreta but it's so worth it because no animals were harmed in the making and you are supporting a really sweet small business. These pastelitos have been around for a while in other locations but now they have their own bakery super close to Miami lakes. They now offer actual meals like croquetta preparada, "chickn" steak with rice & beans, and a Cuban Frita! For being such a new business, they have flourished and are offering amazing items! Today I visited HVB for the third time and tried the Hawaiian Pastelito, Empanada, and the Meat Pastelito, empanada, and spinach and cheese puff. All of it was absolutely excellent.
