Ladies, beware! Disappointed is an understatement! I used to bring my car to Jeff years ago and then moved out of town. I recently moved back and I am sad to say that he is a complete and total rip off and has the personality of an old shoe to top it off. So here's the story... I received roadside twice and had my battery jumped to find out that the battery needs replacement. Knowing this I called Happys to see if they could squeeze me in and replace the battery. A couple hours later I receive a call telling me that the battery and Installation Would be just under $500! Mind you this is for a 2018 Kia. Feeling desperate, I agreed, but quickly came to my senses and called back to tell him no. So he tells me that it is already been installed, but he can put the old one back in. Fine, no problem(btw I paid half at Etd in kinnelon) so I arrive at the shop to pick up my car and I asked if he could jump start me so I could be on my way and he replied "no, sorry we dont have a jump box". Are you kidding me? That's right, He charged me $70 to install and uninstall a battery and left me in his parking lot with a dead car. I had to call someone to come and jump me. What kind of man or human being for that matter does that?! He is the worst kind of business man and I advise everyone to stay away from this crook. These guys charged me for topping off your washer fluid (which I didn't ask for - nor did they ask or tell me this was an option). They said they do this for "your convenience"... I call bull crap. I moved to North Jersey about two yrs ago. I needed to find a good reputable auto mechanic. There are many to choose from but not knowing who is honest and reliable I decided to Google Auto Repairs near me. A large list came up but who should I choose? Well, on that list was a link to AAA Auto Club's recommended Mechanics. I went to their web site and put in my zip code and up came a long list of AAA approved mechanics I chose the one closest to my home; Happy's Garage II at 6 Main St. in Bloomingdale, NJ. When I went to see them, Jeff assured me that in order to be a AAA approved mechanic they had to provide over 100 written recommendations signed by their customers which AAA verifies. He said that they only use quality parts and they give a warranty on parts and labor. I felt confident about their honestly and made an appointment with them. After looking at my car he told me I needed brakes, rotors and an oil change. He gave me a fair quote that was much less than ones I got from 3 other auto repair places including a Ford dealership. My car which is a 2008 Ford Focus runs like new. I am so relieved that I found this place! I will always use them and I highly recommend that you do also! read more

Brought my car for an oil change. I was surprised to get my bill for addt'l. $ 90 labor for a diagnostic test I didn't ask for. Check engine light NOT even ON. Accdg. to them it was a pending code ( I wonder what prompted them to check it, is this an SOP on all cars that comes in?) I was disappointed but got no choice but to pay. After a week of driving, engine light came on. I called and spoke to Dan and ask for an estimate to fix the problem based on the diagnostic test done; after two mos. visited their shop to get an estimate...Dan was on the phone and told me he cannot attend to my request because they are busy and promised to call me back. Never heard from Happy Garage! I don't know much about cars but I know when I get a poor customer service and worst,I feel that it was a BIG RIP-OFF! I thought it was a friendly-neighborhood shop I can rely on, I was wrong. VERY DISAPPOINTED! read more

VERY UNHAPPY. I had just moved to nj and I was in need of a mechanic. Happys garage is near my house so I figured I would try them out. My 98 chevy pickup was in need of a axle seal and was told it was going to be $300. When I picked it up the bill was about $30 more than the quote but I understand its possible to go slightly over. I have two "gas savers" that my wife and I use regularly and only use the truck for utility purposes. Now its cold out (when an axe seal goes bad the fluid leaks into brake drum and is like glue in cold weather) and I want to get some rock from the quarry it felt like I was pulling a trailer. So I happys to tell them the seal they had fixed was leaking. When I arrived Jeff said " its been over a year so its not under warrany. Its NOT MY FAULT THE PART WENT BAD. Why should I eat the labor?" Well jeff you supplied the parts not me. Now keep in mind I have not even driven the truck 1200 miles in the entire year. This fix was likely bad from day one but I didnt notice it in the warm weather. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Read the reviews and not the 5 star ones from his friends or family there b.s. on a side note I had the other axel seal done by my new mechanic who only charged me $175 and is working great. read more
