I was so excited to try this place - I had heard such great things. The food is definitely good and reasonably priced but I wouldn't rave about it as much as the next breakfast place. Eggs benny were well cooked and green onion hash browns also delish. The eggs were drowning in hollandaise sauce though. They don't have skillets or shredded hash browns as a tip.The french toast plate was apparently tasty but very bare. I'd go back for a quick breakfast but not when I'm craving something innovative or with a lot of different ingredients. A cool touch was they bring individual coffee pots to the tables so you can serve yourself as you go! By 10:30 the place was packed on a Sunday morning. Came here for two people. No wait even though it was busy. Great local place to eat with a home style feel. Waitresses are spunky and friendly. Food tastes great. Nothing fancy, just well cooked and reasonably priced. We had chicken and waffles and the first listed breakfast special; two eggs with potatoes, bread and choice of meat. I go to Hap's for brunch almost every weekend. It's hard to put my finger on exactly why I love Hap's so much. I absolutely love brunch and will happily fork out $$ for delicious food at higher-end places (Culina being one of my absolute faves). However, for my regular weekly brunch-ing needs, Hap's delivers. They offer an extensive menu of breakfast favourites, the prices are low, the service is quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is lively. One of my favourite things about Hap's is the diverse clientele. Everything from groups of hungover teens to seniors to families pack the tables. Even if there's a line, you are almost always seated quickly and a pot of coffee is brought right to your table. (This is one of my favourite features, actually. After a late night, easy access to a pot of coffee and a jug of ice water are worth their weight in gold to me!) If you are looking for a fancy brunch, this is not your place. But if you are looking for bacon and eggs, lots of coffee, a bustling family restaurant-style atmosphere, and/or a cure to your hangover, Hap's is the place. p.s. It is my top choice for breakfast in the city - and trust me, I know my breakfast. The prices are good and the servers are friendly. One of my favorite features of Hap's is the fact that you get your own coffee pot at your table! How brilliant is that?! It saves the servers time and I have all the coffee my little heart desires! If you are looking to sit down and grab a great breakfast, Hap's does not disappoint. It's nothing like Denny's where the food usually doesn't taste good unless you have been drinking. Hap's is surprisingly busy but once you try it you can understand why. They have home style cooking that allows you to choose form a great menu. I do love me some Hap's, and yes you better be hungry as they give you so much delicious food! I love that my eggs are perfectly cooked, and I get non-stop coffee on the table and REAL hash browns, well potatoes not that frozen, deep fried, taste like oil squares! Whoa, that was a lot of commas.....who even knows if that was proper grammar! Anyhow, it is a good place for breakfast in Edmonton as we have so few good ones. We need more breakfast places, but this place reminds me of a small town and I think that is why I like it so much. It is a bit loud and noisy, but the service is fabulous and prompt! Surprisingly it didn't taste like every other breakfast. I had the well priced breakfast special. For $6.99 it had two eggs, two pieces of toast, hashbrowns and three sausages. Eggs were Cooked right. The hashbrowns included a little green onion and tasted great. Better than I expected for the price. I did not see a single piece of fruit on my plate so if that is what you are looking for there are other restaurants. I've been wanting to go to this place since we drove past it. We went with 5 people at around 11am and got seated five minutes after in a table that is usually for 4. The whole restaurant was filled so this was not an easy task. There were coffee cups a spoon and a napkin for each person. I know that Hap's is a breakfast place but if we do not need coffee cups they should be taken away so there would be space. Anyways I got a small omelette called the works and it was okay. I think it could of been better and something was missing. The one thing I liked was that you could have a choice of small or large omelette and the small was perfect for me. I doubt I will go there again because I'm not really a breakfast fan and their menu did not appeal to me. read more

They do breakfast and brunch very well. Our server was attentive to our needs and helped out with a few menu choices. This isn't a hipster brunch place. That being said, if you want a well made meal with great value and not have to wait in line for 30min this is the place to go. The decor is what you'd expect from a traditional greasy spoon breakfast joint so don't expect much. I haven't tried it but I hear they make a mean eggs benny. Could've and had been better before, today we got poor service. We asked for a different table, away from the bathroom, the server didn't like that. I've been intrigued by Hap's for years and finally had an opportunity to check it out. I like how the ambiance is akin to other greasy spoons of its era. And I appreciated the abundance of food on my breakfast platter - hot cakes, ham, sausage, bacon, 3 poached eggs, raisin toast, and home fries (which likely came from a bag) all on one plate. Super busy place and for good reason! Great classic diner food. Even on the weekday late morning when I went in, the place was 2/3 filled. A bit more relaxed than the weekend though, that's for sure. Well, apparently it is, as after barely finding a parking space, I had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Hap's offers wonderful breakfast menu that includes pancakes, eggs, French toast and milkshakes. As per my dining companion's recommendation, I ordered hotcakes (which is another name for pancakes) and scrambled eggs. Ten minutes went by very fast, and as my order arrived, I was shocked by the size of the pancakes: they were enormous. My order included three pancakes but I could only eat one, and it was delicious - fluffy, airy yet savory, especially when paired with maple syrup. Scrambled eggs were good too.
