I am happy someone invited me to meet at this lovely, suburban "not-your-average" coffee house. The sights, smells, and flavors here are exotic and unique. Haraz is a perfect spot to get some work done, have a meeting or join friends for coffee. The parking lot just outside the building is small, but there are more spots within a short walk. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with coconut milk and I loved the smooth, cool flavors in a cute, branded glass whike dining in. The manager stopped by our table and offered us a free sample of a mango matcha. That was so nice, and while I am not a big matcha fan, this cool drink was creamy and delicious, with just the right amount of mango flavor. Finally I could go outside today since I've been home resting. I had a taste for Chai. I have been tasting Chai from so many places. Oh my gosh, THE WORST CHAI I've tasted ever!! What did you do to make it taste that bad?! I ordered with honey cheese bread, came out close to $20 for that quality?! Of course I am happy to pay if it's worth it. Also burned my fingers since it's too hot! Top was loose, spilled on my HOT chai on it. Only 1 cup with sleeve isn't enough for that heat, but 2 cups with sleeve was still hot!!! No managers around, took forever to take my order, made me wait for how long?! no one was in front of me. I would not recommend this location! I would never go there again. Beautiful space. Disappointing food. We stopped in on a Sunday morning and ordered an iced pistachio latte, an Adeni chai, a beef croissant, and a club sandwich. Our total was around $45, so unfortunately, we expected much better quality. The iced pistachio latte was a radioactive green color. I've had pistachio lattes at plenty of Yemeni coffee shops, and this was by far the worst I've tasted. The color alone was concerning, it was giving very artificial, fake pistachio and unfortunately the taste matched. The Adeni chai tasted like someone emptied a spice cabinet into milk. It was overwhelmingly heavy on the spices and just not enjoyable. The beef croissant was probably the biggest disappointment. It appeared to be a basic croissant with a slice of cheese and pieces of beef kebab placed around the edges and in the middle to make it look fuller. It was heated, but only the croissant itself was warm and crispy. The beef inside was cold and dry. We also ordered a club sandwich, which unfortunately didn't make up for the other items. It's really unfortunate because the shop itself is beautiful. The interior is lovely, and the aroma when you first walk in is inviting and makes you excited to try the food. Unfortunately, the actual food and drinks did not live up to the atmosphere. The employees also didn't seem particularly happy to be there on a Sunday morning, which added to the overall experience. I'd been hearing a lot about this place, so I finally decided to give it a try. It wasn't too busy inside when I went. I ordered an iced salted caramel decaf latte and a grilled chicken Caesar wrap. I didn't realize they warmed up the wraps, but it was a nice surprise. I waited about 5-10 minutes for both items. While I was waiting, I noticed one of the employees packaging slices of cheesecake into containers for an order. Instead of using tongs or another utensil, they were using the same pair of gloves to handle multiple slices. As someone with a nut allergy, this concerned me because I also saw them go from a pistachio cheesecake to what looked like another flavor and then back again. It made me question whether there's a risk of cross-contamination, so I'm hesitant to try the desserts. The coffee was good, but nothing that really stood out, especially for around $8. Haraz Coffee House is in a strip mall on the opposite side of the street from Costco. It's a newer shop that opened a few months ago. We went in and were really surprised at how nicely it was decorated and how it had plenty of seating that goes all the way to the back of the shop. The Adana chai we had was really flavorful and the variety of deserts they have offer something for everyone. They also feature a nice case of savory sandwhiches and snacks. The barista coffee machines are top notch. The large variety of hot and cold drinks on the menu looked really interesting. The price points are at what other coffee and tea shops offer. Schaumburg's new Yemeni coffee spot! I've seen quite a few Haraz locations pop up in Chicagoland and Schaumburg made the list. Located across the street from Costco, this is perfectly located in a strip mall with new business introductions to the city. Parking can be a bit difficult but they have extra parking in the back as well as a drive thru when on the go. Their menu offers traditional flavor profiles paired with espresso. I asked the staff member for a recommendation and he chose the Pistachio Latte for me. They kindly ask if you are drinking in or to-go to save use on their travel cups. My latte was served pipping hot and I had to wait about 20 minutes before I could start drinking it. The flavor was good but a bit too sweet. The color was also bright green which was off putting. While I think this coffee shop had great things to offer, I simply just don't think it was my kind of coffee spot. read more

It came out in a nice mug since I was drinking in the cafe. The hot chocolate was nice and rich. The cafe had many people in it but I was still able to hear everyone at my table. I recently visited Haraz Coffee House in Schaumburg and really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. The café is beautifully designed, clean, and comfortable, making it a great place to relax with friends or enjoy a quiet coffee break. The Cortado was excellent--smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. The Dubai Cheesecake was delicious and definitely my favorite dessert. We also tried a few mousse cakes that looked beautiful, but the flavors just weren't for me. Of course, that's a matter of personal preference. The only disappointment was the cappuccino. It was much sweeter than expected, and no one mentioned that it came sweetened. I would have appreciated knowing that before ordering. Overall, it's a lovely coffee shop with a warm atmosphere, great coffee, and some excellent desserts. Decided to give Haraz another shot and picked a location other than Niles. The service is still so very slow, I waited 20 min for my Adeni (cold brew with Haraz spices and cream). They can't substitute with non-dairy options. The baristas all seemed kinda lost, maybe they are all new? There's definitely some operational inefficiency. Their dessert looked good but not as good as the ones in Niles. I asked for light sugar which I'm fine with but it's too bland for my husband. The spice flavor was also very light unfortunately and that's even without ice. I think the the only redeeming factor for this visit is probably that the space is all very beautifully decorated and comfortable for hanging out. Unfortunately I'm just wish the coffee and flavor are stronger. read more

My husband thinks they're still working out some kinks, and the wait time was a bit long, but what he ordered for us was really good. He got us a little snack, honey bites? It's like a little glossy ball of bread that you dip in honey. Doesn't sound like much, but it's tasty. He got me a non-caffeinated milk tea latte. It had such good body, deep, rich flavor, and something fragrant like cardamom. I liked this a lot, and so did he. He got himself a coffee that also had cardamom. I think it may have been slightly too floral for him. But it was also nice. We're looking forward to trying this place again. Apparently they source beans from Yemen, which, had we known, we would have wanted to try that because that's more unique and supposed to be really good! read more

This is my 6th Yemeni coffee place that I have visited across three cities in the US and by far, this one was the least exciting both in terms of ambience and quality of food. My fav is the Adeni chai, so I ordered that and with that I ordered a pistachio milk cake. The Adeni chai tasted bad from the first sip. By bad I mean it tasted licorice. It was like drinking a hot syrup of mud and water. So BAD. The milk cake was not balanced either... meaning the combination of various milks and the cake wasn't uniform... Unfortunately, they were not officially open, but the owner Zo was so nice and offered me a complimentary drink while the staff was training. This place turns out to be exactly what I want an exotic coffee shop to be: serious with no coffee nonsense, high-impact dark matter that actually tastes like something, at prices that make me think about what I'm ordering but don't make me drive by (it's in the same plaza as a Dunkin' so there's the other end of the spectrum). Their 'Yemeni' coffee hits my sweet spot of strong and drinkable, with cardamom and Haraz spice adding a depth that I can't get anywhere else. The honey pastry - a Yemeni cream-cheese-and-honey, honeycomb-style pie slice situation - looks innocent enough to convince me that it's calorieless and worth "just picking at and tasting" then absolutely wrecks my self-control everytime: warm dough, slightly tangy cream cheese, and a sesame seed-honey finish that's rich and sticky, especially delectable when it's paired with that bold cup on my tray. The servers all make intentional eye contact in very genuine pursuit of making my experience a great one and their offerings are very extensive even though I am only familiar with the two I've mentioned here. They have, virtually, a full range of gigantic croissants, pastries and breakfast foods that will delight any palate! The middle eastern music adds to the other-worldliness intrigue of stepping into a middle eastern coffee bizarre from the parking lot where you just climbed out of your car a few feet away. The main reason I come here, however, is the rich community that gathers around this seemingly humble hot brown liquid. It's a robust multi-cultural melting pot of very diverse nationalities who seem to leave their differences out in the parking lot. Everyone smiles here and visitors exchange niceties and approving glances and winks as contrasted with what's happening in the outside world. It's an oasis of peace and tranquility that counterbalances the anxiety I get from the news. It's worth trying, take my word for it, even if the idea of it creates uncertainty in your mind. I popped by your new spot today after seeing it was open and noticed you're in the midst of a soft opening how exciting. We were curious to check it out. When we first stepped inside, there was a bit of an unusual scent, which might just be new building smells or something similar. Thankfully, it cleared up pretty quickly. We were greeted nicely, and it was quite early, so it wasn't too busy, which was understandable. I have to say, your pastries looked absolutely delightful, but the food was definitely a step up from some other Haraz locations we've visited in that regard. We ended up ordering a pistachio latte and a pistachio matcha latte, which sounded fantastic. However, when we got to the register, the interaction felt a little brief. We were trying to input our phone number for rewards, and it seemed like something got missed. My wife mentioned it, and the response was more along the lines of next time be quicker, and we didn't receive a receipt either, which made it tough to track our points. While the spot itself is pleasant, we've seen some other Haraz locations with a bit more pizzazz in their decor. But the biggest bump was when our lattes were brought over. They were placed on the table quite suddenly, and unfortunately, some of my drink ended up spilling. It was a little bit of a letdown after looking forward to them. My husband and I visited this afternoon today and ordered Turkish coffee and it was amazing with very unique demitasse cups with covers to keep the coffee hot on a beautiful serving tray. The staff were extremely kind and friendly. This was my second visit since they opened. I will be back soon. Good job guys! read more

Very disappointing. I've been to a few of these coffee places in this area and Haraz in Schaumburg was a disappointment. Three of us came in on a Saturday evening around 925pm. Below is what we experienced 1. Ordered three specialty coffees and two desserts. The coffees came to our table within 5 minutes. One of us ordered a caramel macchiato. We watched three families come after us who got their entire orders. I go to the counter after 20 minutes to ask about the desserts and was asked what we got. Terrible 2. The three coffees we had did not even taste as described. One of the staff comes with a coffee even though the three of us had our coffees. Turns out we didn't have the caramel macchiato on our group that we ordered but something else. Terrible 3. We had to ask the counter to put toilet paper in the bathroom. Terrible again 4. Saw them cleaning tables with a rag and watched the staff member drop rag on floor and continue to wipe tables with it. Place was dirty on floor, tables and chairs. 5. The water tasted weird and they serve everything in plastic that is super cheap and fragile while the costs for their food and drinks are overpriced. Our group was told by the staff member that they were understaffed. I would disagree. Watching the four staff members serve the majority demographic that goes to this coffee shop over me being Caucasian is what felt disrespectful. The staff all look 20 years old and were just walking around behind the counter. I will stay away from this place and go to other surrounding coffee shops that feel cleaner, tastier with menu, and welcoming. Did I mention that my group saw another Caucasian woman go through the same experience complaining how she waited for a while just for her coffee? read more
