They smiled at me, patted me on the back, praised me like a saint, and even got me free Starbucks from nice people all because I ACTED like sobriety was MY beautiful goal. I got better, much better now that I am honest with myself as well with people. This place taught me that and MOST OF ALL - BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF!!! Do not question or think differently or challenge anyone true to Alcoholic's Anonymous or Narcotic's Anonymous meetings they require you to attend. It's so insulting to an atheist like me. It's torture!!! Nevermind my beliefs. F 'em! My beliefs are rubbish and frowned upon. I also had a serious sleeping issue. I've been tired all my life since 4th grade and it turns out I have had undiagnosed sleep apnea for a very long time without proper medical equipment to help me get a full night's rest. I was "lazy" to them. Others understood I think... I clearly understand that I met remarkable counselors there. Some I disappointed, some emitting false compassion or even apathy. Fortunately it was the nice handful of counselors that I knew wanted me to make it. Unfortunately I dismissed and took for granted their persistent helping hand. I truly commend and honor Ms. Antonia, Orlando, Trey, Brittany, Patty, and Leah. They are the only reasons why I'm giving 4 stats instead of 2. It is so true what they say - Through failure , even a couple dozen failures plus a willing mind comes success. I fumbled so badly here, left AWOL twice and never came back. I tried to come back but I was not wanted or welcomed. That's fine. I learned from those two experiences nonetheless. On a side note, the guys are so bleeding horny, they can come off as rapey off site, away from the facility. Also, the females clients love frivolous drama and no wonder they go out and relapse almost as pitiful as I did relapse. If they focused more on themselves than others, specifically other females, they could discover themselves and only themselves. Not use useless facts or false allegations as a distraction to not fulfill their need for self improvement and face their flaws. It's hard but doable.

Approximately 80 to 95% of staff have lived experience dealing with addiction or alcoholism and are understanding and compassionate with clients. This place was fine while I was there, paying them. Granted, there were a lot of troubled older teens without a real issue, so it was hard to focus on my sobriety. The fact that it is more like a prison for rich kids says something, but I was still able to find my way. My main issue is what happened after I left. I needed proof that I was staying there and getting treatment for my addiction, which they would not supply. This caused my college to fail me in classes and dropped my GPA to a level I will never recover from. Additionally, they released a newsletter that printed my sobriety date falsely. They said I relapsed on print. This is inexcusable to do to someone early in sobriety. It's hard enough staying sober without your old rehab messing with you. They committed libel, and I probably should have sued. Had my family seen that newsletter, they would not have spoken to me for years. I guess I got lucky that no one read it. I am still sober (over 15 years!) despite their efforts or lack thereof. Needless to say, they did not help with my long-term sobriety. They were detrimental to it. Probably in their best interest for people to relapse, then they can bill you again and take you back. I stayed sober by avoiding this place like the plague once I got out. Lastly, what Cade said in an early review was true about one of their employees sleeping with one of the female residents. Generally, the women who stay there have it a little easier and get away with more. I guess that is why a lot of these 5-star reviews are by woman.

Long Beach, CA., when the nurse is waiting at front lobby, the first thing the HR ask is to apply for a permanent nurse position, which is emphasized throughout orientation by not just HR, IT, D.O.N as well, so when new hired nurse gives no response to be a permanent nurse with Harborview the team of nurses sabotages the new hired nurse to get fired; by the way UNI PAY is over $10.00 to $15.00 higher than Harborview. (1) False Hope is Fraud, (2) Deceitful and Misleading, only to sabotage nurse for permanent lower pay. UNI should to straight forward with the nurse's and open with Harborview searching hire permanent nurse staff for lower pay. Harborview has a strange way of attempting only to hire a nurse an extremely strange way to have to new nurse fired due to being brainwashed by a nurse recruiter UNI that pays higher hourly then only to discover during Harborview orientation that the nurse's only purpose for being there is in hopes to have a new permanent nurse, which is fraud, discietful, misleading by both UNI and Harborview. I was greeted with kindness and help to get checked in and locate dads room. The place was clean - no odor or must smell. The public restroom was also clean. Dad seemed happy. No complaints about his room and as I was leaving his physical therapist was coming in to help him exercise for the day. It all started as a referral thru a program called Mastercare. Glen Park was suggested to me. As I was searching for places my mother-in-law would thrive in or at least be safe in a memory care recieving 24 hour care as needed. I was my mother-in-laws sole caregiver and I was exhausted trying to provide 24 hour care alone. The thought that she would receive 24 hour care worked for me. I scheduled a tour with Wendy Wheeler for December 9, 2025 at 10am. I was sold on everything regarding the care my mother-in-law would recieve. I soon later felt I was lied to. I was showen a room with beautiful paint on the walls, everything looked new bathroom look bigger than mine at home I was wow beautiful room, nice beds. I figured that was a plus for my mother-in-law. I did a tour in the garden area, entertainment room where I was told that memory care can also be apart of. One of my big questions was how many residents are there in memory care? There was 9 residente at the time of my mother-in-laws move in date. How many caregivers are there in memory care? 4 caregivers I was told. My biggest concern was the distance. So I could visit often rather than not. I was excited she'd be 30 minutes or so away from me if she needed me which worked out perfectly. Moving forward All paperwork was taken care of and my mother-in-laws move in date was January 15, 2026. Glen Park of Long Beach picked Us up at 10 am using there transportation. Wendy Wheeler came with 2 others as they assisted me getting my mother-in-laws belongings within minutes. I rode with my mother-in-law so I could move her in and spend time with her before just leaving her there. Her and I had not been separated since 2019 I have been her full time caregiver. I felt horrible knowing I was transitioning her from home to a facility care. Wendy Wheeler soon disappeared once my mother-in-law was on the property of Glen Park of Long Beach. Wendy Wheeler never replied to my text she soon blew me off. I was disappointed and in shock. My mother-in-laws medication was not being administered. She went days without half of her meds. Even Tylenol for the arthritis pain. I kept asking and talking to GiGi the nurse who really could not tell me nothing but sorry! She's the only nurse. within days my mother-in-law was in the hospital. She complained of abdominal pain. She was sent back to facility from hospital results nothing was found. My mother-in-law was sent back to hospital this time she had an UTI and plaqued with arthritis she was in pain in her arms and legs. She was sent back to facility this time with a catheter. (I asked questions as to why did she have catheter no one knew nothing) durning the first visit to hospital my mother-in-law stopped walking stating she was in pain in legs and arms. She all of no where becsme imboile. As far as caregivers on the floor in memory care there was only one I was surprised if there was two caregivers. There were times no one was in memory care and I had to wait for someone to return so I could be let out. Caregivers were overwhelmed. They litterally said it. From the 15th of january my mother-in-law was in the hospital numerous times. February 6, 2026 was my mother-in-laws last day at facility. Facility sent her out due to bed wounds and horrible wounds on the back of her feet. My mother-in-law was left in bed for numerous hours without food without being changed. I needed help. I called my mother-in-laws care manager and asked her to visit my mother-in-law so she could see my concern. I needed help advocating her health. They allowed my mother-in-law to lay in bed without any of her ADL's being met, without being repositioned. Her heels were leaking. They looked horrible. I felt guilty for sending her there I've never seen neglect like that. February 28, 2026 I moved her belongings out. But noticed 3 new sets of pajamas was missing. I gave Wendy Wheeler a inventory list of each piece of clothing that I brought in. And at the end of the day. I couldn't have my mother-in-laws belongings back. There was no accountability. No one knew where her clothes were. I contacted the liscening department who could investigate photos were taken of my mother-in-laws condition. I'm thankful she is not there anymore. In less than a month of being at Glen Park of Long Beach my mother-in-law needed skilled nursing care to take care of wounds. My mother-in-laws wounds are at a stage 3 she will always need wound care the rest of her life. She is unable to be in a regular setting in memory care due to the care she will need due to Glen Park of Long Beach neglect.
