First, let me say that the customer service from the gentleman named Sal was wonderful. He was kind, polite, and professional throughout the interaction. Unfortunately, the cashier a skinny white guy with a goatee was extremely hostile, disrespectful, and rude. He became angry and even used a threatening tone while I was simply trying to explain that I had purchased a two-year warranty and wanted to exchange a defective product for one that actually worked. The product failed after only one use. I paid $299 for the pump and an additional $78.02 for the two-year warranty. When I brought it back, I was told I could not exchange it in-store and instead had to handle the warranty online. That was not what I was originally told when I purchased the warranty. At that point, I explained that I no longer wanted the product since it was defective and the process had become such a hassle. I was then told there would be a $60 restocking fee. Charging a restocking fee on a product that stopped working almost immediately despite purchasing a warranty specifically for situations like this makes no sense to me. While I was calmly questioning the policy, the cashier, who was not even directly involved in helping me, became rude, disrespectful, and confrontational. It felt completely unnecessary and unprofessional. I eventually told him to stay out of the conversation and let Sal handle the return. Sal completed the return professionally and remained polite the entire time, and I thanked him before leaving. However, because of the behavior and attitude I experienced from the cashier, I can confidently say I will never return to this location again. read more

Very clean and well organized. Make sure to sign up for their coupon service as you can save hundreds of dollars, as I did replacing tools that were stolen from my garage. All Pittsburgh tools come with a lifetime warranty. They also carry tool boxes, power tools, air tools, welders, hand tools, all sorts of automotive repair equipment and a whole lot of other items that you use daily in your home or garage. BUT make sure to use the coupons because they do save you money. But how come every time I've been in here last couple months I hear the same employee (loudly) complaining about wearing a mask. Like is that all you talk about? So, a true test of "customer service" isn't when everything and everybody is all smiles--it's when the inevitable undesirable experience is staring us in the face. I had a mishap with a HF tool. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but it was probably somehow my fault. But the tool was no longer safe to use. So, I gathered up all the pieces and sought the assistance of the manager at Harbor Freight. I purchased a tool box on 1/12/21 in store. At the time it was ordered I was told it would be 1 to 2 weeks to get it. I never received a call, so after 2 weeks, I called the store and was told I should have been told 3 weeks and they should have it by 1/30/21 and I would get a call. I never got a call, so I called today 2/2/21. The guy I spoke to didnt seem like he wanted to help, he was more concerned about how busy they were and short staffed as there were "only 2 people working" He told me it "might" be there, but he couldnt go check and told me to call back between 8am and 9am tomorrow and talk to someone else. I said I would prefer not to call back and he should have someone call me. He became argumentative at that point and voices were raised and the call disconnected. I'm livid! You guys, going to Harbor Freight for affordable, quality hardware is a no-brainer. I can't say enough about how they've made life easier. So many reasons. Open late (at least 8pm). Huge selection of quality tools, including automotive stuff. Bright, clean store. Restrooms. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. No attitude or job hater. Coupons out the Ying Yang (in mailers, in store, and email if you sign up). INCREDIBLE return policy. Never have I seen one this generous! You can return something within 90 days as long as you have the receipt, and it doesn't have to be in its original packaging!!! I'm going to repeat this Yelp adoration with all HF's I've been to. Only thing I don't like is that there's no stores in San Francisco or the Peninsula! But there's lack of a lot of practical stores on Peninsula which is another story. If you're in Sacramento, East Bay, or San Jose though, you're good to go! There's one in San Rafael too. read more

Over the years, I've accumulated a pretty good inventory of everyday tools. Nice ones, good quality. There are times when I just need to pick up some random tool that does not need to be of the highest quality - either for a single one time use job and/or OK to lend out and never get back. Or maybe bungee cords, straps, tie downs, tarps, towing gear etc. I recently bought some stainless steel stock pots here for making a batch of beer. Harbor Freight is great for that kind of thing. I'd not stock my entire tool arsenal with tool from here but I do have a collection of random, not so often used tools that did their job and at a very reasonable price. A few of the reviews here mention the long lines. Yep, that's what happens when there's a lot of people in a store. On this days shopping spree, 3 registers were open and staffed and there were at maybe 3 people deep each line - a 4th register was opened. What I did notice and find much more important is that each clerk was working diligently to serve each customer quickly and accurately (maybe a little robotic, but I get it). Not much more can be done. I'd say it's more about the customers that aren't prepared to check out that slow things down. Be prepared to pay .. don't act surprised when it's time to whip out cash or card and please don't write a check. read more

All the years I've shopped at this place, I've received pretty good customer service. That's why I can't understand how the management of this location continues to allow a single employee's bad attitude and offensive customer service to continue,..but they do. The past three time's in this location there has been an overbearing, power hungry, outright rude female working the register area. From my observations she seems bothered by the simple presence of customers.. I've stood in line and watched her as she instantly gets an attitude when a customer asks her for assistance. It's as if it's not her role to show someone where something is located in the store. And man does she love to play line police. I watched her scold a couple for walking to an open line before she signaled them to go.. it was embarrassing for the couple. I felt bad for them. Anyway, I decided to write a review after my latest visit (Oct 25, 2018) and interaction with her. I'm not even going to bother with the details, just know her lack of customer service was glaring as usual. What is important is that this time ,like the first time I encountered her, there were strangers in line were discussing her rude behavior. Most offensive to me was the fact that multiple people recognized her behavior, on multiple visits, and she still acts the same each time... and it shows me it's not just me. It's pretty bad when her bad attitude is the topic of discussion amiss strangers in line. smh. It's been brought to managements attention, because it's definitely a management issue. Ok, I am biased (and old) - I have been a customer of Harbor Freight tools for over 40 years now but this store is one of the best. The store manager (Chris) is very knowledgeable and goes out of his way to be friendly to and help customers. There is another guy named Dave who is probably an assistant manager and is always helpful and seems to handle problems with ease. He goes out of his way to say hi to me when I come in and even remembers my name. I like that! The clerk that cashed us out was named Lacey and she is not only cute but extremely knowledgeable about the tools too. Customers seem to love her - women too (she doesn't make them feel awkward.) Although they do have some auto tools like YELP says, they have tons of everything - woodworking tools, construction tools, electrical tools and welding equipment, plumbing tools, carpentry tools, and generators too! Check this store out! We have been to them all but this store and the Elk Grove stores are our favorites. read more
