I have been to this Home Depot several times for small projects all the way up to large refurbishing jobs for my house and rentals. When they are busy, it can take some time to find help, but I have found the pro desk to be extremely responsive and helpful. They helped me with getting a pro account started as well as responsive when I needed to return items. They have a great variety of lumber and home and garden items. Occasionally their lumber is a little warped so you have to spend some time looking through it. Their plant sections seem to be well maintained, and the plants we have purchased have always been healthy. read more

We bought 4 x1 gallon of various paints (behr and glidden, premium and dynasty) for home renovation. A big THANK YOU to Ryan and Tracy at the Home Depot in Carmichael, CA. I needed help with an outdoor project for my elementary school. The store was busy, but these two employees still went out of their way to make sure I got exactly what I needed to make the project happen. Just in time for Earth Day! On another occasion, Ryan helped my mother-in-law with her kitchen remodel. Ryan was patient, knowledgeable and gave her all the information she needed to get the ball rolling. It's nice knowing there are still people who actually care about the customer, not just the bottom line. I highly recommend this location! read more

Do NOT buy a warranty here or at any Home Depot because they won't honor it unless you have a receipt handy like the professional retailers who keep warranties on their computer systems. Home Depot Madison Location (September 9, 2025, around 8 p.m.) My husband went to the Madison Home Depot on the evening of September 9th to replace tools he had broken earlier that day. He saw a Milwaukee promotion advertised in the store and decided to purchase the new model. Unfortunately, all of those tools were chained, and it took at least 20 minutes before anyone from customer service arrived to assist him. When an employee finally came, he explained that because the item was chained, it was "very hard to remove," but offered my husband an older model with two batteries instead. My husband agreed and went to the cashier, but the cashier refused to honor the promotion and said he would have to pay the regular price. She then called the store manager, Jennifer. Manager Jennifer told my husband she was not going to honor the promotion as advertised. After my husband insisted on the promotion shown in the store, she eventually said he could have it--but not the box he was looking at. Instead, she tried to give him an older or scratched unit, saying again it was "too hard" to remove the chained item. After more than an hour of back-and-forth discussion, he was finally given the new box, but by then the experience had been frustrating and exhausting. To make matters worse, my husband watched Manager Jennifer instruct employees to remove the promotional signage entirely so she "wouldn't have to deal with this situation again." This left us feeling that she was selectively deciding which promotions to honor. We've been loyal Home Depot customers for over 25 years, and this was one of the most disappointing experiences we've had. We hope Home Depot reviews how promotions are handled at this location and how customers are treated by management. Based on this visit, we cannot recommend Manager Jennifer's approach to customer service. read more

Service always good and helpful - I've seen remarkable improvement over the past year or so.

I've never written a Home Depot review before because my experiences have always been hit or miss. This time, though, I absolutely had to. When my water heater tank went out (first time dealing with that as a homeowner), I was completely confused about how Home Depot's contractor installation process worked. I tried calling the 1-800 number and got nowhere, so I decided to go into the store instead. That decision made all the difference. Savannah, Tyler, and Pat immediately came together to help me understand the entire process and brought in their manager, Julian. Julian went above and beyond--he truly helped me out a lot and made a stressful, expensive situation much easier to handle.After the unit was purchased, delivered, and installed, I went back to the store again. Shalena worked directly with customer service and succeeded where I couldn't, securing an extended zero-interest financing option for my very expensive project. This level of teamwork, patience, and genuine customer care is rare. Huge thanks to Savannah, Tyler, Pat, Julian, and Shalena for turning a frustrating situation into a great experience. The selection of materials is impressive -- I can almost always find everything required for my projects. The prices are great, and there are often good discounts, which makes a big difference when you shop frequently. What I especially appreciate is the staff -- friendly, helpful, and ready to assist if something is hard to locate. A couple of days ago I went to the Home Depot on Madison Ave. I needed to get a few things from the nursery department. A young lady checked me out and she was very sweet and smiled a lot. She didn't give me time to get my things out of the basket and onto the counter. She just walked around and gunned everything. Two minutes later I was paying and on my way. I got another smile and a big thank you. Before I could push my cart out the door a young man comes over and grabbed my cart and says "I'll help you to your car." everything I had was small and I didn't really need the help but I sure appreciated it. Getting smiles from him and some small talk as we walked to my car. After he loaded my car, he said I hope you have a nice day and I'll see you the next time you're here. I'd be happy to help you anytime.His name is Rodions. I didn't get her name but the two of them had me smiling all the way home. I need to go back later today to get some rock and bark. I'll need help with that. You can bet I will be looking for Rodions for help and another smile. So many people act like they hate their jobs. These two people gave such excellent service and smiles. This tells me that there are some people that just want to do their job to the best of their capabilities. I have a lot of respect for that. read more

Absolute worst employees ever. Has the standard really fallen so low? Last night two employees told me if I cant find something then its out of stock, even though the website said 9 in stock. They refused to help me look. So I go home an order store pickup, and one hour later I go get my item from the locker. Today I go back for one other item and watch a cashier yell at an elderly woman because she had her dog(on a leash) in the store, and walked away and wouldnt ring up her items. Do better. read more

This Home Depot is better than the one on Howe. They get a one star. The reason I patronize this particular is because I like HD better than Lowe's and I cant stand the one on Howe. This one is also closer. The customer service area is a MESS. It's SO disorganized. You used to have to wait in an aisle, in one line for Pick-ups and returns. And there is access to the counter as you walk in the door. So several times, you're waiting patiently in "The Line" and someone walks in the store - makes a quick right turn - goes up to the counter and they help them. They have since added a special line for pick-ups but the people waiting in "The Line" think that you are cutting in front of them. The majority of the time when I'm looking for help, there is no orange aprons to be found. And when I do finally find someone, they don't work in that department. I moved to NorCal two years ago, and my friend always complained about how horrible Home Depots are. I could not understand. The two that I went to in SoCal were pretty darn good. After being here for a while, I understand why he dislikes Home Depot so much now. read more

WTF. Went to go buy appliances here, left empty handed. When we arrived there were two employees leisurely chatting in the parking lot, "putting carts away". No one approached us to offer assistance. Then when we asked for help, the employee (who seemed to be available), said he would go find someone to help us. Minutes go by and finally we hear that same voice over the loud speaker "Can I get assistance in appliances". FINALLY! But no. No one ever came to help us. We looked around for help didn't see anyone in the near aisles. We left, annoyed, with appliances. To top it off the employee we spoke with was at the entrance of the store, he was entirely available to help us and chose not to. read more

Very shocked to see the reviews so low, this home depot is down the street from my rental property. I've been renovating it , so me and the workers have been becoming good friends lol. I was practically living in this Home Depot lol. I honestly can't name all the workers but I know that I've had keys made, bought tools like a sander, nail gun, jig saw, I've bought baseboards , paint, countertops carpet, I've dealt with the workers in customer service in which only one person I was NOT a fan of, older woman whole vibe was very rude, I believe she was a supervisor or a lead, very dismissive and again rude, but again didn't steal my joy because y'all have certain mangers for reasons, in which the manger did handle my situation, in which she could of done the same if she took the time to look at my receipt. I'm thankful for all the workers that took the time to give me new ideas or different approaches to my do it myself jobs. Ryan was most helpful, he was very knowledgeable on many departments. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Every aisle I went down I was asked if I needed help. Specifically a man (I can't remember his name but it was something like Conrad) helped me in lumber. He helped loading it all on my cart and with all the cuts I was needing. And then this man Angel was so sweet. We talked a little bit eh store but then I ran into him in the parking lot too and he helped me load all the wood into my car. I super appreciate both of their help today! read more

Today another $600 purchase.?? building a house nearby Debbie the cashier rude disrespectful lazy I asked her to put my items in a cardboard box that I had sitting on the counter for her and she said I was making her job too hard. I go out to the parking lot the gentleman and a big straw hat with a large black beard working in the parking lot walks right by me. I have two toilets to load in my truck. He walks by again and leaves the empty cart sitting behind my truck when that is his job to retrieve the carts I do not know what is going wrong with the store. It has always been the best store in the Sacramento area. The employees here except for some of the ones that's been here a while. Don't want to do their job. I walked up with some returns to the return counter, there was five people standing there. Nobody acknowledged me. I had to speak up. There's five of you. I enjoyed my visit to this Home Depot location. They had what I needed. Compared to other stores, the garden plants were displayed nicely, too. Good lighting to view at dark, too. The help I received from Mark (new hire working post-retirement that knows local gardening & more) and Samantha (I believe that was her name - 5 years working plumbing at HD she said) was great. I'd definitely come back to this Home Depot location if in the area or if my local HD doesn't have what I need. BTW, sometimes you need some help purchasing some supplies. It's great when you can get exactly what you need with some help. It's even better when the person who helps you has life experience to talk about all kinds of things. On May 29, 2023, I purchased a grill from Home Depot (SKU 1005664760). The purchase in included delivery and assembly. The product was delivered successfully on June 3. After usage, I discovered the that was an unconnected wire underneath the searing burner. This explained why the ignitor would not ignite that burner. On June 13, I went to Customer Service in the Carmichael, CA Branch to explain my problem. The cashier (Alizzandra I think), did some research and said to me that Home Depot would give me a call that Thursday or Friday, then do a one-per-one swap. I was satisfied with that solution. Thursday and Friday came with NO CALL. I visited that same store to re-explain the problem. That cashier (Brandon) said that he could not help me and the original cashier had to be the one to solve my situation. First, are you kidding me? I was told to return 30 minutes later to the Gardening Section where that original cashier would be working. I came back to no avail. Now I'm stuck with a grill that was NOT properly assembled. I have to manually light that burner to get it to work. My other option is to rent a vehicle to return that grill to get my money back. I'm not sure if that's worth it to me. Now I'm stuck with a $600 grill that was improperly assembled and I have to manually light that burner every time I need to use it. Poor customer service! Be very wary if this Home Depot store assembles your product. Check everything before installers leave. They have NO customer service. I ordered from the Pro Desk lumber for a fence job for pickup the next day. Was told it would be ready by 8AM the next morning. It was not ready till 8:45. The only thing brough to the front of the store was a small cart of misc. stuff. When I asked about the lumber I was told it was on multiple carts in the lumber dept. It was suppose to be bundled for a fork lift so it could be placed on my trailer. Some one called and they brought the carts up front where a helper am myself had to hand load the entire order on to the trailer. Three time I asked to speak to a manager and no one would call. They would just nod and walk away never to be seen again. Another hour of my day wasted. I went back in and again asked a the lady (front counter supervisor) said sorry and gave me a free pair of gloves. I just saw her give away a pair to someone else. Service is great here to some people... however when I come here, i hear all the employees asking all these people if they need help but completely avoid me. I dunno what their problems are, I try not to look unapproachable. Also Alejandra at check out needs help with her customer service skills because she has no manners and seems to not like her job. This place in terms of products has a lot of great things in stock. I recently purchased foam boards. I needed foam spray and the app said it was in aisle 53 but i couldn't find it. So when I asked someone where aisle 53 was, they kept leading me to a part of the store that was opposite them which was very annoying. If it wasn't so close I'd be going to another Home Depot. I really wish there was an option for 0 stars. I rented a U-Haul moving truck from this location as I have multiple times in the past. Everything went smoothly except when I was never refunded for the $150 "deposit" paid for renting the truck. I honestly think what happened is the employee who dealt with the payment didn't know what they were doing and accidentally charged me the deposit. It's frustrating because I asked multiple times if they accidentally charged me the $150 because that's what it looked like on my receipt but they assured me I would be getting the deposit back. I tried going into the store after the fact once I realized I was never getting refunded and the manager was no help at all. He basically said he doesn't know why I was charged the $150 deposit and that I shouldn't have had to pay that but he also said there was no way to refund me my money. He offered me a $150 Home Depot gift card instead which I thought was ridiculous and declined. So overall terrible experience here and I'm out $150 still and they won't do anything for me read more

I also had them do a marble tile backsplash install, which is beautiful. However, the kitchen design person is short-tempered and not customer oriented. He said that his department is not busy. We were told that it would be two weeks until measure and then another two weeks until installation. Ok, one month out...we can live with that. Then they called and said they could measure in just a couple of days and schedule delivery just two weeks later. That all sounded great! Well, then they called and said they were having problems and had to put install off a couple of weeks. Ok, close to the original date. When that date approached they called and put it off for another week. When that date approached they called and said "We don't know when we will be able to install". So it's been six weeks since we paid and we have no anticipated install date. My parents have been living without a kitchen the entire time. Time to call for a refund!!! read more

After walking to the front of the store we found a nice gentleman who assisted us. He was very friendly, and asked if we needed help loading into cart as it was heavy. Went to self check out line as there was a little line at registers. Quick and easy. The only thing I could suggest is like another local store like this there was a button to push outside the aisle where items are locked up so you don't have to go hunt down an employee. read more

Horrible customer service! I had a problem using a gift card that I was given for my birthday. I was sent over to customer service to fix the issue where I was greeted with disrespect. The customer service person walked away and told me I would have to go back to the Home Depot where the gift card was purchased. I the asked for the supervisor. The supervisor was a little more helpful, but ultimately was unable to help. I then went back to the Home Depot where my mother purchased the card. The customer service person told me that I would have to call the corporate office to attempt to fix this problem. I called the 800 number for Home Depot.com. They said I have to go back to the store with my 88 year old mother to call the 800 number to try to fix the card. This is bad business!!! read more

This is a one star review for Home Depot. But a five star review for Kimmy at the paint counter! Not only did she have a line stretching at least 10 people back. She was all by herself and when I'm only assuming is the manager coming over to tell her and us that sorry someone called out. In this managers attempt to help all she did was slow Kim down make everyone else feel uncomfortable in her attempts to help but again slowing her down, asking her questions, making the whole situation harder for this young lady behind the paint counter trying to help everyone. But Kimmy! Worked her butt off, hustling back-and-forth, helping as many people as possible, as fast as she could answering the questions of this "manager" who should've been the one helping Kimmy but no! It was the other way around, taking away from Kimmy's ability to help more customers. So again, this is a one star review for the Home Depot, and their lack of respect for their employees. But.
