First of all... Richard in appliances in Manchester is great! Knowledgeable, friendly, and provided us with many 'tips'. He was the reason we decided to purchase the refrigerator here. HOWEVER... delivery was scheduled... the driver called at 11:45 to tell us they would be there in 20 minutes. At 12:00 I received a text stating "they could not complete our delivery" and someone would call to reschedule. WHAT?? Well apparently, due to a storm, there was a tree down on a street in our neighborhood (not ours) and the drivers chose not to detour the ONE MINUTE it would have taken them to go around the block. They just called 15 minutes earlier... they couldn't call me back??? I immediately called the delivery number they gave me and was told the drivers could NOT turn around, and the next delivery date was several days out. I went above and beyond to prepare for this delivery... even putting the old refrigerator right by the door for them. The drivers must be in the business of losing money for the company... after this debacle we immediately cancelled the order and purchased elsewhere. read more

Incompetent overnight team. The turnover is too high to have people who reliably pack your skids as you would expect them. Delivery is turning into a real problem. They call you with an automated call, which is supppse to give you half an hour to be on site, and then they might come as quickly as 10 instead and will insist the customer handle it and push to let them drop the skid somewhere undesirable... and when they say curbside, they mean "Bottom of the driveway" and if you aren't here fast enough too bad, enjoy hand bombing stuff an extra time in 90 degree weather. The staff is vigilante, ready to defend the errors that their drivers or staff make. They will try to make you feel like you don't know there policy and procedures well enough, even when you have been going to them for years. Not only will you still be super mad by the time the conversation is over, but nothing will be rectified and they will keep making mistakes and putting the blame on the customer. read more

I just purchased garage doors from the Manchester Home Depot. I'm telling everyone and anyone I can fine to never go into that store. The worst managers work there. The people on the register are great but the managers could care less on trying to fix our problem I have a Home Depot charge card and I use it very rarely maybe once a year, and after this time, I'm never using it again. we were expecting a delivery from Home Depot of a refrigerator, stove and dishwasher. it was to be delivered today between 1-5. we got a call confirming the delivery this morning. this afternoon we received a phone call telling us the delivery truck broke down and with the impending weather - our delivery would not be made until Tuesday. all of our old appliances were removed and brought to the dump. we asked if another truck could go get our appliances and continue the delivery and were told that it would not be possible. we called Home Depot and were told they had nothing to do with the trucking company and their was nothing they could do. as for any type of compensation for our difficulties- the trucking company said it was up to Home Depot and guess what Home Depot said? it's up to the trucking company. now we are living out of coolers - my house is a mess - and my husband will have to take more time off from work . I cannot believe a trucking company that delivers for home depot does not have more than one vehicle or one could not be rented to help get our delivery here. This definitely/eventually becomes a routine stop for anyone and everyone... You just can't do without them... They have everything your home needs. I've never got any big project done from them... We only stop for small DIY projects, parts and tools, garden supplies... And I have always found the pricing to be better than lowes (which is rt across the road if u ever want to do ur own comparison... Convenient isn't it). We recently purchased a patio set from here, all we needed were a few bolts and I was stuck calling customer care every other day for 4 weeks until I lost it and returned the product. Had a very bad experience today. It was very busy and all of the carts were being used. I found a cart that had some small broken pallet boards on it and a partial sheet of broken drywall on it. I asked the customers standing nearby if it was there's and they said no. I took the items off the cart and set them against the shelf. At that moment, a male associate yelled at me and said "you are not to take stuff off that cart". I told him it was trash and I needed the cart. He said "if you want a cart, then you need to go to the parking lot to get one". I went to the parking lot and waiting for a cart to become available. I choose Home Depot over Loews and other stores because of the customer service I can get here. The selection comes a distant second, even though that's incredibly important too. My latest experience was to purchase both a ballast and T12 lightbulbs. I'm not afraid to ask for help and say I don't know something. I didn't even have to wait, someone came over and offered to help me. He told me where I could find ballasts and even said they are giving them away. He tried to first find me something on clearance as he wanted to save me money. When the one I was looking for was not there in clearance, he me the right one, which was about $18. I was looking for LED lights, but he convinced me that this might not be a good fit, today, because they were new and have not come down in price. This light is at the bottom of my stairs and won't be used often so I'll give it a few more months before I address LED lights again. What he gave me was the ability to get my bottom of the stairs lights back, not just a product. Home Depot does it well and that's why this is my home store for hardware. read more

I've had a handful of annoying experiences here in the past, where I felt like the staff was either rude or just not helpful. That has not been the case, however, in the last couple of years. For a while I was really only shopping here when Lowes didn't have what I needed, but that seemed to happen so often that I found myself in Home Depot pretty frequently. The staff here has been much more helpful than during my historic visits...generally. The layout generally seems really well planned in the store, and is much less frustrating than the one at Lowes. It falls a little short when comparing the garden centers, however, and the prices on plants are always a little high in my opinion. One thing I'm waiting for both big box stores to take more seriously is the safety of their customers.. not in the store, but in relation to the things that they sell. I find it frustrating that I can spend $400 on a chainsaw, but they can't find shelf space for some of the standard personal protective equipment that you should wear when using one. I've brought this up more than once, the general reaction from the employees I have mentioned it to always border between indifference and confusion. Who knows, maybe they added them now.. I'll have to check again soon, but I doubt it. Thankfully Tractor Supply had the chance I was looking for.. read more

We booked a box truck for moving. 12 hours before we moved, they canceled the truck. We had to call multiple different stores in hopes of finding another. Thankfully, we got another truck. Home Depot still charged me for the truck that they canceled. They are saying 7-10 days to get the money that they STOLE out of my account back. They got their money, for a service they didn't provide, immediately. Up to 2 weeks to get MY money back? Not cool. They shouldn't have put the charge through in the first place. Needless to say, the difference is night and day. I encountered three amazing associates in this store that took the time to explain things to me in such a way I'd understand. All three associates then helped me understand ways to appropriately cut costs while maximizing my expenditures in my project. Each were warm, friendly and spectacularly well versed in their departments. While I've got some thinking to do in regards to my upcoming project, I'm going to be doing business here. I would say the thing that stands out about this location is that they are usually easy to deal with. Easy to check out, easy to get what you want, easy to park, not really an issue whenever you go. They only get a fraction of what the Lowe's and even other Home Depot's get in the area. There set up is a little weird, only parking for a handful of cars if you just want to go to the garden area. The rental area is almost always dead so its easy to ask a lot of questions and go over using whatever you need. A little less selection on the mulch and some other items as compared to the West Hartford location but if you are pressed for time not a bad locations. read more

We often shop here. Typically we prefer the other big box home improvement site in town but we shop at Home Depot as well and have always been satisfied. Recently, we had a very negative and baffling experience. We went in specifically to purchase a high end Weber grille. We approached the employee in department and asked for our assistance. He told us that if we wanted to see that the grille was in stock we had download the Home Depot app and see. When we asked if he could check the store stock for us since he was ...right there he declined and told us we could go to customer service and they could look it up for us. The employee literally refused to check the shelf for the product. I usually don't write reviews like this but this was pretty shocking. I'm having a terrible experience with Home Depot in general. Bought appliances back in July. They were delivered in October. I realized that the microwave was way too big for our kitchen so I took it to the Manchester store to replace it. Since it was an online order I thought it could be replaced anywhere. Customer service "did" the return and I bought a smaller one. 4 weeks later - the return was still not processed. Called customer service and was told I had to go back to the store. Went back to the customer service at the store and was told to go back to appliances. When at appliances was told to go back to the front of the store. The head of customer services told me that the return shouldn't have been done here as it was a different store number on the receipt. I asked why it was accepted here then. No one knew. She was going to watch the camera to make sure I actually returned it, even tho I had the receipt in my hand. She then went to appliances and found the one that I had returned since it was still on the shelf with my name on it from my order. I was told to take it back to the other store and "good luck". I was also told that based on the town I live in, I should always go to the Glastonbury store. I told them I'm actually closer to the Manchester store so that doesn't make sense. At one point there was a line behind me and about 4-5 people in customer service just standing around doing nothing instead of helping customers. read more

Do people really review places like Home Depot? I dunno... apparently I checked in there once and Yelp desperately wants my feedback, so you're stuck with it. I don't think there's much that makes this Home Depot stand out from the others. The only unique thing I can think of is that it is directly across the street from a Lowes. I suppose I'll use this opportunity to compare the two. I was once told that Lowes and Home Depot don't really consider each other competition in that they target different demographics. While Lowes seems to focus more on the "soft lines" of hardware store inventory, Home Depot is all about the raw lumber and manly things. Basically, if you find yourself in the Buckland area in desperate need of a dishwasher, ceiling fan or curtains, go to Lowes. If your needs are more pressure treated in nature or need to find that perfect nail, Home Depot should be your destination of choice. All-in-all Home Depot boasts of good prices, helpful staff and wide selections. Will I return? I'm afraid I don't have a choice... my dishwasher is making funny noises. I have been giving the Home Depot store in Manchester, CT my business for over 18 years. NEVER AGAIN. Over the past 2 months, I have been receiving an outrageously terrible level of poor customer service. From not being able to contact the store by phone. To not being able to find an employee in the store. To finally finding 4 of these "stars " talking in an aisle, and having one of them talk trash about me behind my back as I walked away. To unfriendly employees who have no idea how to do their jobs. On and on. Keep in mind, my visits were during slow periods in the store. I was always polite, with a calm attitude. On my final visit to this store, I spoke with an assistant store manager who was not very friendly or communicative, and was basically useless. She assigned me to an employee who was condescending, rude and GAVE ME THE WRONG SUGGESTIONS AGAIN. I left that store and went to a local Ace Hardware store. There, I was immediately greeted by a friendly employee who personally assisted me with my purchases. Ace Hardware was happy to take my money. Goodbye, Home Depot , and good luck. You will need it. I've only been to this Home Depot twice. The first time was a year ago to purchase four plastic corner guards for my wall corners, lightbulbs, and to copy my house key. There was some issues with locating the corner guards (most of the employees seemed to have never heard of them), but overall I was very happy with the experience at that time. This time, I went to return two of the corner guards, copy my house key, and rent a carpet cleaner. Even though they have a return policy of only 90 days, I explained that two of the corner guards were defective and wouldn't properly stay attached to their respective corners. The woman behind the register went ahead and processed the return anyways, giving me store credit. For copying my keys, they had moved the the large station that was at the front of the store last time to a tiny one at the end of Aisle 12. When I got there, there was no one to be seen. I stood around and waited about 5 minutes before an employee approached me and asked if I needed help. There was no one in sight at the tool rental station where I would be getting the carpet cleaner. This was unsurprising because I'd made two calls to ask about their rental policy, both of which were disappointing; the first one I'd been put on hold for 15 min for a very simple question and both employees talked to me like I'd interrupted them in the middle of something important. I stood--in plain view of at least five employees who either looked in my direction or made eye contact with me--and didn't receive any help for 10 minutes. After that, I went up to someone working at a front register and asked her to send someone to help me. She made a call somewhere, and a minute later, a guy wearing a polo (who I later learned is named Tom) walked past me and made eye contact. I assumed he wasn't an employee because he wasn't wearing anything resembling a uniform, nor did he acknowledge me in any way. This guy then walked behind the counter and put on a Home Depot apron. I opened my mouth to ask a question and the phone rang. He turned, still without any form of acknowledgment, and answered it. He talked for at least five minutes on the phone, before hanging up and calling over to me, "You all set?" No apology for the wait, not even a greeting. To his credit, he did give a thorough explanation of the machine and was very well informed. The carpet cleaner rental is $20 for 4 hours (later I found out it's a little over $23--explained below) or $29 for 24 hours, and you need a license and a credit card to rent. They charge a $50 deposit at first, and then refund it and charge the rental fee once you've returned the machine. They do provide attachments for stairs/upholstery, but you have to buy your own detergent to use with the machine. I made it back a minute before the 4 hours up...to find (surprise!) no one staffing the tool rental center. Again, I stood in view of at least four employees, who all noticed me but chose to go about their own business. Finally, I noticed some noise coming from a side room, and walked over to investigate. An employee (later learned his name is Bill) was inside performing maintenance on a machine. He looked up briefly, without acknowledging me. After about five minutes, he came out to help me. I told him I was returning a rental, and he told me he would be returning around $26 and charging $23. When I asked him why the charge was $3 more than what was advertised, he laughed and said "I don't know." (Really?? If you're working in the tool rental area, you should be able to explain that extra charge or at least look it up for me.) Finally, with another follow-up question from me, he checked and explained it was $2 of insurance and $1 of tax. Turns out I'd forgotten the stairs/upholstery attachment at home and will need to bring it in the next time I'm in the area. But Bill didn't notice even though it was clearly indicated on the receipt that I'd taken out the carpet cleaner and the attachment. It really seemed like he had no idea what he was doing, and I could just as easily have pretended to return a rental carpet cleaner I'd pulled from their stock, and he wouldn't have noticed. After my experience last year, I would have given this Home Depot a four-star rating. But this time around, I came out of the store frustrated and disappointed. I think overall their staff could use some training on bedside manner for good customer service, and they need to be more proactive about noticing customers, who are obviously waiting for assistance, rather than just doing the job they're assigned. read more

Very helpful staff, went with my father to get materials for doing some roofing and other things around his home. They staff at the Pro Desk helped to organize everything very well. There is a gentleman named Glen there that took to time to go thru our list and arrange everything that we needed very well in a professional manner. If I could give less stars, I would have. I ordered 35 panels for fencing. When delivered, they were dropped and broken. They were supposed to come the next day, take the broken ones and give us new ones. They didn't show up, we called they said the next day. Next day came and went and no panels. I tried contacting the supervisor Lisa, who NEVER called me back. 2 days went by and this "supervisor" didn't have the decency to call me back. Well, I finally got in touch with a manager named Tim, who seemed wonderful, called me back, promised a discount for our inconvenience and PROMISED we would have our delivery TODAY! Wanna guess what happened today?!? NO DELIVERY.... no phone call, no email, no communication WHATSOEVER as to why either!!!! Sooooo I called the store and Lisa was working again . I actually got to speak to her, she said she wasn't sure what happened but she was gonna look into it and call me right back. SHE NEVER CALLED BACK. Not that that is surprising. So at this point, I have given this store $1,750.00 and all I've got to show for it is broken wood in my driveway and an overload of frustration. read more

Home Depot appliance Delivery is awful. I tend to prefer HD over Lowes overall,except in terms of their appliance delivery. After the 5th time purchasing appliances and having a delivery issue each time. I think I may go to the Lowes side or Best Buy or some other option for appliances going forward. Yes HD tends to be slightly cheaper, but when you rent to tenants and you take 5 hours out of your day waiting for an appliance and they call you and confirm 3 times you need to be home for delivery, only to find out they appliance never made it to the truck is a HUGE waste of time and money! We fix homes 5 hours of not working and waiting for a refrigerator that the delivery service called and confirmed delivery of and to not have it on the truck is unacceptable! This is the 5th time HD delivery has dropped the ball on me. This time it was essential to me that it was delivered on time as I was moving one tenant from one unit to another so we could do demo work which was lined up with other workers. The demo now needs to be postponed, (I have other jobs lined up) so this mistake has certainly cost me time and money. I give the delivery service a -0 it beyond sucks! Please do yourself a huge favor and get your appliances elsewhere! For the measly 40 bucks i thought I saved going to HD ended up costing me hundreds! read more

Both times I called ahead to be sure the order was ready and was told yes. Each time when I arrived at the store they could not find my order and spent more than an hour to locate it. On 09/14/2016 I ordered on line everything necessary to install my new shower. First it comes in much later than promised. The middle of the shower is badly damaged, cracked & broken. So we call and advise them. They claim they put in another order and provided a confirmation number. After a week I went in person to see why I had not received my item - well, even though we were given a confirmation it wasNEVER ordered. Ok, so I figure I can just purchase whatever they have in stock and trade it out - but, they have NOTHING in stock, not only this home depot but every home depot within a 100 miles! Corporate happen to visiting Manchester that day when one of the officials asked how everything was, so I explained. He assured me it would be resolved, asked that I not go to Lowes even though they had everything needed in stock just up the street. I made the mistake of waiting yet again for the part to come in, this time they send the wrong part!!!!! Again, they are sorry with send the correct part and credit me $125.00 for my troubles. The part was to be here yesterday, so I waited until today for good measure and guess what no part. Customer service explained it was broken again and it will be another 3 to 6 days!! And they will credit me another 15%. Needless to say this does not cover the frustration, time, and inconvenience. I will never step foot into a home depot again and suggestion you all do the same.
