Starting my journey here, I had not been to the dentist in 7 years. Let's just say some bad experiences led to a minor phobia of going anywhere near a dentist. After an old filling fell out, I knew it was time to bite the bullet. After a COVID screening, I was warmly greeted by their front of house staff. I was brought back to have my x-rays done and right as I was about to have a meltdown, Dr. Kunert set me straight. He explained there was quite a bit of work to be done, but we'd get through it shortly. He then outlined the items I needed to work on, how they'd be handled and we get to it. This place is incredibly amazing, I had a fantastic experience and am truly amazed at the quality of the work done and the care I received. The place is located in kind of like a business strip/plaza, there was a Restaurant in the same plaza (Tabento?) and there was ample parking when I went. The business is located to one side of the plaza, closer to the corner. I had Dr. Sanacore for my dentist and I love the way he went about with my exam. We first got X-Rays, and then he took the time to explain what the X-Rays mean. He went over the different sets of teeth and explained what he was looking for for potential problems. He then did a gum analysis and he explained that process too, about what the different numbers he was calling out meant and what to expect. I really like the way he approached the exam, since he was explaining everything along the way, I understood why he took the steps he took, and it made me an overall more informed patient. On top of this, he had a very welcoming personality and helped to answer all the questions I had. He also wasn't pushy about selling me products and focused mostly on the exam and my overall dental experience. The hygienist I saw was Donna, and she was one of the best I've ever had! She is very intricate in her work and she took the time to clean most of my teeth individually. She was very careful and thorough in the cleaning process, and I was amazed at the attention to detail she had when working on my teeth. My teeth felt incredibly clean afterwards and I am truly impressed at the quality of work she did. I am very happy with my overall experience here! read more

My fiance has been going to Harbor Mesa Dental for ages and even though we live in more central Orange County, the quality of Dentistry and Dental service is so stellar, it's absolutely worth the drive! I think he started going there years (years!) ago when he was working closer to the office. He's stayed with them due to the great quality of Dental Care delivered consistently here. I hadn't been to a dentist for awhile and don't have dental insurance. Yes, I need some extra cleaning done, but the prices were still affordable and they discussed everything with me. Special Note: if you are having or have had any Knee or Hip Replacement type of surgery like I have, we are particularly prone to potential infection which Dental Cleaning can put into our systems. Regular peeps are fine. WE need a special (don't ask me the name, they have it) prescription which I must take before going in for a cleaning for at least 2-5 years after my wonderful Joint Replacement Surgery. They are very accommodating and experts well-versed in this health detail and will provide the prescription script in advance so you can be all set having it filled and taken before your regular cleanings. After 2 years of stay in place for pandemic, finally able to get my teeth cleaned today. Dr Sanacore did the exam and was able to fit me in last minute for a filling. He explained the prepping method clearly and demonstrated the sand blasting method to clean out the cavity before doing the filling - he's really thorough! Sheena, my hygenist, is the best! She makes my teeth feel healthy after removing the tartar and the superb cleaning (scrubbing ). Mirabelle (hope i spelled it right) is the xray tech and she did an excellent job of asking if I was ok and needed anything as she took xrays. Superb staff as always and highly recommend them! Dr Kunert is amazing! I did my clinical hours/externship at his office and I was so lucky to be paired with them. Not only is Randy a perfectionist and extremely intelligent as a dentist, he's also very kind, funny and generous The knowledge he can pass on to you as an intern is so valuable as you get to watch him work. Absolutely love this office. Been going to Dr Sanacore for over 5 years now and he has always been honest and helpful. Kids love Dr Hanna as well! Update: Dr Sanacore is the best dentist ever! Been coming since 2013, and have referred multiple families because of his skill and honesty. I never have to worry about being up-sold on treatments because he and the staff have proven over the years that they take a conservative approach first, and work with you to find out what your goals are. Finding an appointment and parking is always easy at this office, and I'm now halfway through an invisalign program, and the whole process has really been a breeze because Dr S has guided me through the whole process! I HATE GOING TO THE DENTIST. Always have, I had horrible teeth growing up which made the experience worse. Dr. Sanacore has the lightest touch and has made coming for my check ups and maintenance a completely different experience - he's patient with questions and proactive in his approach. Can't say enough good things about him. If you're a big chicken like me and need a dentist - I highly, highly recommend him. The hygienist Sheena is also T H E B E S T. Was just in for my annual checkup and have to say Dr. Kunert and his staff remain one of my favorite service providers! Front desk, hygienist, assistant and Dr. Kunert are all warm and personable. Its nice that my family and I have been using Dr. Kunert for 2 decades and there is little turnover in staff. It's nice to deal with the same people each visit. My son and husband have genetically poor teeth and Dr. Kunert has worked to keep their teeth in good shape. In fact, I had Dr. Kunert refill my husband's old cavities and cracking crowns done by a former dentist. Looks so much better, can't tell my husband's had any work done. I trust their opinion and ability. Personally, I am a nervous patient and Dr. Kunert is always so patient and puts me at ease. Never any pain. I have decided to bite the bullet and do some long term dental work, including Invisalign. Tanya, Dr. Kunert's assistant and Dr. Kunert took time to go through all the imaging with me, and they explained exactly what my protocol entailed so there would be no surprises. I hadn't been to the dentist in over a year and a half and had been nervous about a cracked tooth that I had been nursing a few months, but had horrible dentists in the past (see past reviews). Here is why I love this place... 1) EVERYONE WAS SUPER NICE. it actually felt like customer service instead of lke they were doing me some kind of favor. 2) there was no wait. I was brought in at my appointment time. 3) everything was explained to me as they were doing it. they treated me like an adult and explained each procedure with the whys, hows, and options. No talking down to me or just doing whatever. 4) the hygenist made a lunch appointment for my followup since there were no open appointments for a month. That means she will be working instead of going to lunch just so i can have my teeth cleaned. and finally 5) the lady up front helped me figure out my insurance. Thats more than HR at my work was willing to do. Overall I love this place and recomend it to anyone who needs a dentist. read more

I had a great pediatric dentist in Irvine but had to change due to insurance changes at work. My 3 kids had been going to them since they were babies and I was dreading looking for another dentist that all of us would love. I checked around on my dental plan but nothing stood out so I logged into Yelp and found this JEWEL! Registering the kids was easy - just download and print the forms. Making an appointment was easy - the person who answered the phone was very helpful. Arriving at the scheduled time and checking in was easy - handed in the forms and waited in the lobby. All 3 kids were taken at the same time. One popped out without any cavities and a new toothbrush. 2 had fillings and took a little extra time but I was kept informed. My oldest said she liked Dr. Hanna because she explains what she's doing. My two other kids said they liked Dr. Hanna for various other reasons, my youngest liked that she called him a cute name and pinched his cheek affectionately. Dr. Hanna came out with my last child and explained what was done and what needed to be done to maintain healthy teeth. Later I found out that my son has schoolmates who visit Dr. Hanna, and I have 2 co-workers who love her as well. I'm so glad I found her and I thank all of the contributors on Yelp who helped me make this important decision. I couldn't be happier. read more

As most people I had the typical fear of going to the dentist office... as an adult I kept that fear because of how much dental care cost. I am glad to announce that my fears are gone and I owe it all to Harbor Mesa and Dr. Sanacore. He is amazing and very informative, willing to work with you at creating a schedule in which you can afford your work and get it all done in a timely manner. I was lucky enough to find Dr. Sanacore through my insurance. He was very kind and explained everything thoroughly. He never tried to "up sell" me which I've heard a lot of dentist offices do. It had been a while since my last visit to the dentist so I was in need of a bit of work. I was placed with the hygienist Adele, whom was very kind and friendly. I was in need of a deep cleaning and was set up with 3 different appointments. I've never had a deep cleaning before and was a bit nervous. After a not so awesome appointment Adele called me the following Monday to see how I was doing, which was very surprising as I've never had a doctor or dentist call me personally to make sure I was alright after stressful visit. The next few appointments were a breeze and now instead of dreading the 6 month checkup I look forward to seeing Adele again. As part of the work I needed was getting two cavities filled, which Dr. Sanacore did. During the entire process he was talking to me and explaining what he was doing, which was nice so I was in for any surprises. Hopefully I won't have to sit in his chair anytime soon! The ladies at the front desk are very warm and inviting and I feel like they remember me. They are also very flexible with payments. Went to my first appointment with Dr. Kunert and his staff today, and if a first impression is any sign of future appointments, I plan on being a patient here for a long time. The entire staff was friendly, helpful and trustworthy, and the office was clean and inviting. Being that it was the first time he's seen me, Dr. Kunert thoroughly explained what he found immediately after his initial exam and assessment, complete with drawings and a review of my X-rays. He gave an overview of my treatment plan for then next few visits, detailing exactly what his priorities were. I've never been to a dentist that's provided such a comprehensive explanation of what I need done, and WHY I need it. There's no worse feeling than walking out of a dentist's office, auto mechanic, etc. with an empty wallet, confused as to what you just paid for. This however is NOT the case at Harbor Mesa. Dr Kunert did a nice putting a crown on my damaged tooth. I had a root canal and crown lengthening. All very painful. However when it was time to finalize all my tooth work dr kunert did a really nice job putting a very nice crown in my mouth. He does a very good job. His hygienists are really good. Darlane is really good and very thorough. Adelle is also really good and my wife loves her. He also is fair with pricing. A very good dentist. read more

Wow. Dr. Sanacore is awesome! I'm that annoying person who goes to the dentist and wants to know EVERYTHING about a procedure - how it's being done, why its being done, the expected effectiveness and cost-benefit ratio, possible alternatives - EVERYTHING. I also hate being sold stuff at the dentist - extra antibacterial washes that aren't necessary, special toothbrushes and floss that I don't need, teeth whitening that those SoCal dentists always seem to hyper-focus on, etc. Since I had all of these bad experiences before, I moved to Harbor Mesa Dental Care with extreme caution, and voiced my concerns. Dr. Sanacore listened to my concerns and surprisingly accommodated them and went out of his way to explain everything and honestly tell me what I needed and didn't need and the expected effectiveness of a procedure. All of this while he had other patients and requests. This is much appreciated! Also on another occasion I was out of the state on vacation and had forgotten about my appointment (and the subsequent fee for not canceling 24 hrs in advance). But with very little explanation on my part they kindly waived the fee without any issue. Harbor Mesa Dental Care is great! They: 1) Communicate honestly and clearly 2) Accommodate appointment changes without issue 3) Offer transparency, help and strategy when it comes to insurance charges They definitely deserve their 5-star rating and I highly recommend them to anyone! read more
