However, all the red wines that I tasted here were very delightful and worth it. There were seating options outside by the tasting room and music. We ended up sitting back in their more green space on some adirondack chairs. This place felt like it was for all ages. We saw everyone from babies to seniors. The space was such a vibe and it was a wonderful place to catch up on summer stories. We ordered our drinks up front and the woman who served us was kind. The service there was great because the individual behind the bar was very attentive, asked us questions about what we liked, and gave recommendations based on our answers. We wanted to start off with the flight, which was a great option because it helped us really decide on the drinks we wanted to try out that were recommended to us. They were super friendly and Dylan did a great job at explaining the different spirits and what they have to offer. I'm not really a big fan of darker liquors but I really loved the Harvest Gin and Eagle Harbor Brandy, I had to bring a bottle of each home to share. It was difficult to find, so we called. Charlie gave us directions. When we arrived he was on his lawn mower mowing the lawn. We wondered what this experience may bring. He invited us into his 'barrel' wine tasting room which is under construction. Charlie was great! He let us taste variety of different wines. He took the time to explain the history of his own wine making, and even let us taste out of a barrel that was not finished yet. He also suggested some other wineries and distilleries to visit that were nearby. This was, by far, the best wine tasting experience we have ever had and look forward to visiting him again next spring.

We ordered a white flight and a red flight. These wines, all eight, missed the mark for me by a mile and change--Odd palettes with zero complexity. A couple whites had no discernable flavor and the reds were flat. I'm by no means a wine snob, not even close, but even I can tell when artistry is present in a bottle. State 42 wines are just not for me, so take my words with as big of a grain of salt as you like. I know these little wineries work very hard and I've yet to have a "bad" experience at any winery, including this one, despite the noise level. Their wine simply didn't win me over and that's ok.
