Had a pretty terrible experience here. The store is attempting to socially distance but not doing a good job at it. We sat at a table and were instructed to change where we sat at a four person table to maintain as much distance from the people next to us as possible (which was already greater than 6 feet) however the seat they made us change to was closer to the people behind us and right next to the cashier/bartender so I ended up wearing my mask throughout my entire time seated since we weren't truly socially distanced. Also, only some of the tables are 6 feet apart but others are not. It's hard because they are a small cafe but at that point, you shouldn't be barking at customers to sit in a specific seat (especially if it doesn't make logical sense and is worse social distancing). We were not given menus and we were told to read the menu from the wall on the other side of the room. I thought maybe this was normal (despite being difficult to read) until I realized every table that followed us were given menus. Our orders were placed and we waited a really long time (even longer than the 4 person table that had ordered after us...). It felt very awkward sitting there for a while when I started to realize that I was the only person of color in the entire cafe. It also didn't help that we were much younger than the rest of the patrons, and everyone was getting frequent check-ins and updates except our table. A couple of the patrons also kept staring at me which made me really uncomfortable. Finally the food came and it was pretty disappointing. My boyfriend (who eats everything) picked strawberries his plate (which I've never seen him do in 5 years). It's not too hard to enjoy an egg meal but sadly he only ate the minimum. The bill was slapped onto our table without a word and there was no thank you for dining with us or come again. Overall, didn't enjoy the hospitality (or lack thereof), the food, or the half-attempted social distancing. Perhaps we would have been treated better if we looked like the other patrons, but who knows. Hopefully this review won't get hidden away and they take note of these things so they can improve because I'm a big supporter of local businesses. read more

It wasn't good... A friend had recommended the chicken Caesar wrap. I ordered that, and was bummed to realize it was all frozen precooked chicken chunks, tasted bad. My husband got a burger.. and quickly realized the burger Patty never touched a pan. IT WAS MICROWAVED. Yuck. Paid for the wrap, but asked for refund on the uneaten burger.. pretty sure all the food is microwaved. Not sure they have a stovetop in the kitchen. I've never asked for a refund on a meal. This small and traditional restaurant made my day. I wanted a delicious and filing breakfast to sustain us for the site seeing Day we were about to have. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with spinach and tomato and a side of hash browns. I was pleasantly surprised to find a fresh baked biscuit under the eggs. We decided to have a late breakfast after checking out of our hotel. The place was very busy when we arrived but cleared out just after 11:30. If you want breakfast arrive by this time as they move over to lunch soon after. The server was sooo polite and quickly got our orders in. I don't usually outwardly blast places, because usually there are at least some redeeming factors, but aside from the view, this place has some of the worst, overpriced food I've had in years. Truck stop diner food beats! I'll start by saying that their veggie omelet with two eggs is $13. It comes with no seasoning whatsoever and two slices of unmelted cheese on top. They serve Folgers coffee. You can see from your table the gross kitchen with unwashed dishes piled in the sink and dirty countertops. This was by far one of the most expensive places in town, with prices as high as Preserved Restaurant, which at least had the presentation down and much higher quality of food. Still, even that was an illusion of good food. Back to this place, the bathrooms are dirty and the service is incredibly slow -- it will be 45 minutes before you get your disgusting food. I'm sorry, but this kind of place is actually a ripoff. read more

The location was convenient and had a decent view, I really like that they had a Mirror on the back wall so you could enjoy it even if you weren't facing it. Unfortunately, the cafe was uncomfortably warm, and smelled of burnt bacon. We thought the service could have been better, our drinks were not refilled nor did our server check on on us after she delivered the meals. The place was empty but we got a nice view for the bay. I got a $8 burger that was disappointing and bland, not worth the price. Your only side for lunch was chips and they only had ruffles. Staff seemed bored and unfriendly, our waitress was nice but did not know when breakfast ended. So it got our hopes up a bit, still the view is nice. Maybe they have their A-game with breakfast? I really did like this adorable little cafe, which is right across the street from The Castillo de San Marcos. My husband and I were in search for breakfast and decided on Harbor View because of the daily special listed in the window, which was the Nova Scotia omelette which he ended up getting and loved. It had yummy salmon in it. It was about $15 though, which we thought reasonable because the omelette was HUGE. I got the Greek omelette, which I thought I would love, but I wasn't feeling it. I'm iffy about eggs so I think I was just having an off day. Unfortunately I couldn't finish it. Their homemade biscuits though, 10/10 my friends! I could've eaten a whole plate of just those, and I wish I had! So fluffy and delectable. The staff was super friendly and if you are looking for a quiet mom and pop spot, this is for you! My reasoning behind the three stars is that I enjoyed it, and I would eat there again, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice. read more

Nearly five star rating so I was sold. By the look of the place I wasn't sure what to expect (somewhat unimpressive looking but with some old-town charm). Every table was taken, including all six bar stools (counter service). Luckily for us, a couple got up from the bar stools a couple minutes after our arrival. Once we were seated, there was a steady flow of customers waiting for tables. We noticed that most were locals on first name basis; very few tourists even though we're in the heart of tourism central. All expectations dropped once coffee was served and the cup had a lipstick smudge, but we had already ordered food and figured it was a one-time thing. My omelette was decent, the potatoes were just potatoes and the biscuit was better than average. We were on a terrible family trip, those trips you dread more than anything in the world and on our way back, for new year's we stopped in Saint Augustine. After a horrible night, we all woke up angry and hungry. We stumbled upon the Harbor View Cafe since it was the closest thing to the Castillo de San Marco and decided to eat there. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Mary's Way and yep, they are definitely HER way. Instead of poached, perfectly fried eggs were nestled on top of canadian bacon and a fresh biscuit, not an english muffin, but a buttery, soft, southern-style biscuit with a fatty hollandaise-ish sauce on top. I was blown away. My mother and cousin ordered an omelette and I guess they liked it because they didn't leave a crumb, however, i doubt it topped my eggs benedict. My grandmother's fruit salad was huge! it had everything, bananas, berries, even a starfruit. I will forever return here. The staff, at least who I believe to be Mary, was attentive and lovely full of southern kindness. If i could eat this every day i would happily die full of cholesterol and fat. :) read more

The food looks delicious however we never got to try it. I understand the COVID restrictions and not allowing people inside unless you are being seated. That is completely understandable. However, We got there and were rudely told to wait outside and someone will come out to seat us. We complied and stayed outside.... for 25 minutes and nobody ever came outside to take our names or anything. There were other customers as well waiting outside to be acknowledged but never were and after almost 30 mins of not being spoken to we just left and went elsewhere. I would love to try this place again as the food looks really good and the other reviews look great, and I do understand times are hard right now for restaurants. read more
