I really did like this adorable little cafe, which is right across the street from The Castillo de San Marcos. My husband and I were in search for breakfast and decided on Harbor View because of the daily special listed in the window, which was the Nova Scotia omelette which he ended up getting and loved. It had yummy salmon in it. It was about $15 though, which we thought reasonable because the omelette was HUGE. I got the Greek omelette, which I thought I would love, but I wasn't feeling it. I'm iffy about eggs so I think I was just having an off day. Unfortunately I couldn't finish it. Their homemade biscuits though, 10/10 my friends! I could've eaten a whole plate of just those, and I wish I had! So fluffy and delectable. The staff was super friendly and if you are looking for a quiet mom and pop spot, this is for you! The food looks delicious however we never got to try it. I understand the COVID restrictions and not allowing people inside unless you are being seated. That is completely understandable. However, We got there and were rudely told to wait outside and someone will come out to seat us. We complied and stayed outside.... for 25 minutes and nobody ever came outside to take our names or anything. There were other customers as well waiting outside to be acknowledged but never were and after almost 30 mins of not being spoken to we just left and went elsewhere. Mary's Harbor View, recently remodeled, seats about 40, and because of the GREAT food, friendly atmosphere, and personable staff it is packed all morning. My mother in law is hard of hearing and ofc mask make it a little harder to hear. And when she kept asking the lady to speak a little more clear because it's so hard for her to hear; the lady was huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes with attitude. We went here for lunch one day because every other restaurant was full and had a wait. This one was empty for a reason. My grilled cheese was surprisingly not made in the microwave like my boyfriend's meal.... but it was made with wonder bread and a slice of kraft American rubber cheese. Soggy and reminded me of the ones I would make in elementary school. But it was one of the only Vegetarian options. His pulled pork sandwich was flavorless w/o any sauce... bread was soggy from being microwaved. All meals served with ruffles potato chips. The whole place didn't feel sanitary and the bathroom looked like it hadn't been updated since the 50's. Wallpaper peeling off and mold all over the sink. The hand dryer was so old that I was scared it was gonna catch on fire because of the burning smell. If you're visiting St.Augustine please take the time to make yourself a reservation at an actual restaurant or wait for a table at one... wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. read more

The first server who took our drink orders was not friendly or welcoming but efficient. My hot tea came promptly. Another unfriendly server took our breakfast orders. We then noticed that a couple who came in after us had already received their breakfast. After this, about 30 minutes since ordering, I got the attention of the second server and asked where our breakfast was, never mentioning the other couple served prior to us. She had no answer, sneered at us and walked away. We waited a few minutes, laid down money for the tea and bolted from the unfriendliest restaurant we have found in St. Augustine. Stayed at the Hilton overlooking the water on this trip with friends. We asked at the front desk and the person suggested Maple Street Biscuit however that's a chain (a yummy one) and #2 was Mary's Harbor View Cafe. This was a 2 min walk from the hotel and perfectly located. A small cafe/Diner with low capacity we had a small spot on the window. It was very bright but not at all uncomfortable. Dogs, people, cars, trolleys all wandered by outside. Were greeted immediately by cheery staff and coffee arrived practically as our seats hit the seats. The coffee was very good, served in thick ceramic mugs. I ordered the Mini Bubba (smaller version of the full size Bubba) and it was H U G E with a fresh fluffy biscuit smothered in gravy, 2 eggs and two sausage rounds. Holy cow. I couldn't do much damage but it was very good with the gravy having just enough black pepper and snap to be good. The full size cone with potatoes or grits, oh my. My friend had Mary's Eggs Benedict- much like the traditional but on a fluffy fresh biscuit with Canadian bacon AND two strips of regular bacon. Grits on the side were claimed to be good. It was bustling busy by the time the meal was over but it was a nice hometown comfy feeling. I recommend this place if you aren't looking for the fancy brunch meals many in St Augustine want. read more

I was a little weary at first because this menu looked pretty basic but when you do basic so perfectly there is no point in trying to get all hipster brunch on everyone. We had a bit of a wait (about 25 min) but while waiting we had a couple in line tell us it would be worth it... and they weren't lying! If you get a seat facing into the kitchen, you can see the food on electric griddles being perpetually warmed. The sound of microwaves slamming is indicative the kitchens standard of preparation. I've eaten here twice now and both times the food was good, nothing outstanding. But the server we had both times (maybe the owner, judging by all the decision making she was doing) is quite rude. I got omelettes on both visits and they were good. Good amount of meat and cheese and cooked well. The home fries were pretty good too. But the biscuit, yum! Very good. My fiancé ordered eggs benedict, as she always does, and she claims it was delicious. It's made with their wonderful biscuits. I can handle a dry personality but this lady was just rude. She knows she's got a prime location and people will come there regardless and she takes full advantage, trust me. My mom and I were in search of a casual breakfast place on our way out of St. Augustine. We drove by Harbor View Cafe, which is adjacent to the Best Western Inn, along Avenida Menendez and saw a small crowd outside. We knew it had to be a hot spot so we turned around and decided to give it a try! There were about 2 parties ahead of us and, after putting our names down, we expected about a 15-20 minute wait. The cafe is very small, about 3 window seat tables, 7 bar stool seats, and 2-3 larger tables along the side, so we had to wait outside. After waiting about 45 minutes and seeing party after party get called for their table, my mom got up to ask where our name was on the list. The server realized that she had accidentally skipped over our name and immediately found us a window seat inside. We were pleased to be sitting against the window, where we could see the water & the Bridge of Lions. We sipped on hot coffee and enjoyed our meals - the central omelet with grits & two over-medium eggs with potatoes. The service was great, considering there looked to be only two waitresses in the entire restaurant. The staff was warm, friendly, and attentive. We were very pleased with the delicious taste of our food and we were even more pleased with the bill - it was reasonably priced (about $20 bucks for the two of us).
