So I have a Nissan 370Z and my front driver-side wheel was pushed back almost rubbing the fender. I had already visited three other "professional" mechanic shops, but no one could tell me what was actually wrong. Every single one of them checked the suspension and said it might be a frame issue, so I started looking for an auto body shop to check on my subframe. I was referred to Hard Tech Auto Body through a friend of mine and didn't know what to expect since I have heard many of them can be shady. I met with the owner, Javier, and gave him a rundown of what I had been dealing with. We worked out a deal and set up an appointment. Afta careful inspection, he told me my subframe was perfectly fine. He said the issue was in the suspension and not the frame. He helped me check the suspension and eventually figured out it was one of my lower controls arms that was bent. It was very difficult to tell because you can barely even tell it was damaged. Once I replaced it, my wheel went right back to its original position like magic. I had the chance to speak with Javier and learned he has over 42 years of experience in the field. He has basically been doing this kind of stuff since he was a teen with a passion for working on cars. On top of that, he has a large shop and maintains it clean. My daughter hit a pot hole, and the insurance totaled the car. We decided to keep the car and fix it ourselves. We did the mechanical work elsewhere, but still needed body and paint work. I called Hard Tech to get front and back bumper painted. Quoted me $450 each bumper, any car, any paint. Started talking about all the damage to my vehicle and decided to go with Hard Tech to replace my front bumper with them too. Vic was up front and gave me the cost of the replacement. He was able to find me a used bumper since by car was already 10 years old. This reduced the cost even more. The job ended up being replace and paint front bumper. The rear number was left in tact. I was satisfied with the job and it looks brand new. They did work on my 2015 Audi A3. A previous company quoted me $4,500 and said to look at it they would have to take it apart which would be already $1,000 just to look. Vic got the front bumper replaced and painted for $1,383. I have a older car that I just was not ready to part with, and before I went to see Vic, I really thought I would just have to buy another car. I came here because the reviews mentioned this shop is honest, reliable and reasonably priced. I'm also a girl in her 20s and saw reviews that mentioned as women they were treated well. Tbh I feel like I got hustled. I had to bring my car in 3 times over the last 2.5 months, and I continued to find things wrong with the work. Vic genuinely tried to make it right, but every time I got the car back, I'd find more things wrong. Someone in the back was either being careless or lazy and didn't pay attention to the details. I had to do the quality check every time I got my car back. The quality of work and the length of time it took was not worth how much I paid. I spent even more money in addition to the repairs because I wanted the hood/front repainted. The first time they had the car, it took them 5.5 weeks to do the work. I had to pay for a car rental the extra days given my insurance only covers 30 days (Vic covered 3 days worth, but the remaining days were still $100s out of my pocket). The last thing I found was damage on my bumper that wasn't there previously (it looks sparks from a weld melted the paint). The tools for my spare tire are also missing and those were never found. When I got my car back the first time, the gas tank was empty and my MPG was at 8 (usually above 20). Papers in my glove compartment were sticking out. I asked about my alignment and the story changed over two days, and given everything else it sounded sketch. My car is still veering to the right. I let so many things go when I first saw them thinking they're one-off situations, but as they continued to happen, I collectively see these were red flags. I was patient and understanding from the beginning, but at this point I can't trust the shop with my car out of fear something else will come back damaged or missing. At minimum to compensate, I wanted my spare tire tools replaced and my out of pocket cost refunded, but I haven't heard back from Vic. I don't want to discredit everything. This shop does decent work, but I'd only recommend coming for smaller jobs and if you get a really good deal and you're willing to compromise the quality of work. I was charged premium, and the work did not justify the cost. I'd also take pictures of the miles, gas tank, and the entire car inside and out before handing it over. read more
