A great place to dine! Reservations are recommended as it is a popular place in Landrum. I try different items everytime we go there @ I'm never disappointed! We had the best lunch at the hare and the hound! We ordered the spinach dip for the table and it was so tasty! I got the fish and chips and the fish was so good not super greasy and had a lot of flavor unlike other places. My mom got the tuna sandwich and was also really impressed with her meal. This place is such a gem. We started with potato skins and calamari. The potato skins were 3 large potatoes cut in half and filled with cheese and bacon then served with sour cream. They were very good. The star of the show was the perfectly tender and crisp calamari that was served with a side of sweet chili sauce. I could order two of these just as an entree. You should give it a try! I also had a club that was so good. It had ham, bacon & turkey, lettuce, tomato and mayo. My husband had a rueben. He said he's had much fancier and prettier rueben's but this one was the best. Their sweet potato fries were the best we've ever had. I doubt anything on the menu would disappoint you.They offer free popcorn which was just like movie popcorn. The restaurant itself is very cool. Everything about this place was spectacular! It was a huge surprise to me! Our waitress was this kind sweet older woman who was just the best waitress! She made sure to read us well, offered drinks, great suggestions, and made my birthday special. She even brought a candle out for me with dessert! Now onto the food, STELLAR! We had the oysters and Brussels sprouts. I was this close to literally licking the plate clean. I got the chicken pot pie for the entree and it did not disappoint. It's an elevated take on a class country dish- filled with lots of herbs and seasonings it was literal perfection. We got the chocolate bomb for dessert to share and finished it off perfectly. My son and I stumbled upon this place on our way to fish Jones Gap. We LOVE it. To be clear however I've only eaten one thing. Their Guinness stew. I did have a bite of the boys chicken fingers from our first trip. After which he and I have never ordered anything else but the stew. Our fishing trips are more like lunch plans with a fishing bonus. Really like this place. Pro tip: order one to go. Throw it in the fridge and eat it reheated 48 hours later. We happened to be in Landrum for the day and decided to try this establishment. Ambiance is nice. Busy, great location. Service was not so great, waitress clearly didn't listen to the request of her patrons. We ordered the club and the Reuben. I asked for no cheese on the club due to a milk protein allergy, it came with cheese. Waitress never noticed it or the fact that I asked for onion straws and not fries. My sister-in-law ordered the Reuben, she stated that it was okay. I did not send the food back, I try not to do that in any establishment. What a great find! Went with my Brother, Sisters-in-law and Nephew. What a fun setup with an old school bar inside with plenty of booths and tables and a few tables outside as well. Someone had called ahead to make a reservation or just to make sure they could accommodate a party of 16. When the majority of the party was there, they would not seat us. OK, a rule I have seen other places. However, they also mentioned they were waiting for a table to clear so they could seat us. We ended up tucked under some trees with 3 tables and random chairs pushed together. But only after all 15 (1 backed out) were actually present. It took a bit for the server to appear and take drink orders, but we got that squared away. Unfortunately with the way we were seated, the server could not gain access to all the parties so some of us had to help pass out water and eventually food. The food was ok. I ordered the broiled trout and asked to substitute the salad for the vegetables (later wishing I hadn't cause I think the veggies may have been better). Was charged to upgrade to the salad and it was a handful of greens, croutons and I believe onion (I don't eat tomatoes or cucumbers so asked them to hold it). The rice looked like it had been sitting in a pot for a while and it was just lukewarm. Based on the "hostesses" attitude and personality, the seating arrangements, the not-great service, and the quality of the food, I will not be returning. read more

We went here about a month ago for dinner with my brother in law and his wife, and it was a great experience. The employees were all wearing plastic face shields or masks. They were extremely baby friendly, both our server and one of the managers came by and talked to us about our baby/parenthood. I got their burger, and it was very good. Too bad you can't offer stars for different parts of the experience. Let's start with the very good- Kellye L, our server, was extremely nice, attentive, and capable. The complimentary popcorn as a starter was a nice touch. My wife had hoped for an appy size of the chicken livers, which Kellye said was possible despite not being on the menu. A generous portion, extremely tasty, but not inexpensive for a half size at $8. She also had the BLT, good flavor, but the bacon was thick and ended up being closer to jerky than crisp bacon. I was torn between the Fish and Chips (which was starred on the menu as a fav) and the Reuben. Kellye noted that they made their own dressing in house and steered me towards the Reuben. Perhaps it was the dressing, but the sandwich ended up being very salty, and at $11.29, even with a generous order of fries, I would go with the Fish and Chips instead next time. Finally, we were pleasantly surprised to see Rhubarb pie on the menu, so we got a slice to go. At $5.59, it nonetheless was straight to the trash at home- the rhubarb had not even been cooked. A disappointing ending, and brought the average for the whole visit down to 3 stars. read more

This place really hit the spot for me and my 3 friends. We had just gone on a hike and were ravenous for some good pub food. I ended up ordering the fish and chips with onion rings instead of fries. I called to complain about a pick up order, the background noise was so loud, I tried to speak so that she could hear me, she rudly stay3s she's trying to help me but she's not going to if I continue to yall. She accused my husband of approving the order according to the 'pick up' person. He wasn't aware they charged us for extra such for fish & chips, but there wasn't anything extra, we just charged for it. A local favorite here in Landrum, SC. Very good specials menu which included four fish entrees. I had the Carolina farm raised catfish with vegetables. Better half had special Carolina flounder. Both deep fried but with a light breading. Both were excellentee!! Appetizer was fried frog legs for a 1st time. All was excellent and entree wait time was non-existent.
