However, for most Koreans, a more common meal is often soup based. For those in the know, they are a nation of broth. When I have a craving for Korean soups, this is one of my favorite spots, especially for their beef based soups (menu items #1-6). They are all good, but my usual order is #3, Doseolleongtang (ox bone soup with sliced beef shank & tendon). The shank meat is quite tender, while the tendon has the perfect texture. My second choice is #5 Ggogaltang (oxtail & short rib soup). Other non-beef soups I enjoy here include the #7 Soondaeguk (blood sausage soup) and #8 Daeji Gupbak (pork soup). I do also believe they have a very flavorful #16 Bajiraktang due to an abundance of clams. However, there was some sand the last time we had it. Other than soups, they also make good versions of #30 Jokbal (braised pork shank) and #31 Bossam (boiled pork belly w/ cabbage & radish kimchi). Definitely order one of those items for a group gathering. Maybe also add #33 Dogani Muchim (spicy ox knee tendon salad) or #34 Golbaengi Muchim (spicy sea snail salad) or #39 LA Galbi (marinated beef short rib). Lastly, I have tried their #37 Ojingeo Bokkeum (spicy stir fried squid) as well. Though solid, this is not the place I would get this dish. #22 Goon Mandoo (fried dumpling) is decent and their Kimchi Jeon (kimchi pancake) was crispy but a tad bland. As for service, the owner Tesh and his staff are very friendly. They also are attentive without ever being overbearing. I really appreciate their hospitality and pray they are around for a very long time.

The other noticeable difference was their large dome shaped cast iron griddle on the middle of each table, which is more common today, but was the first place I had ever seen one. I knew immediately that I was in for a brand new experience and I was excited. Over the years, I have continued to come here for my porky cravings, and introduced this place to many family and friends. The restaurant has experimented with many more items and now has a menu full of other meats for the grill, but honestly, stick to the pork items is still your best bet. Btw, prices are still lower than their competitors like always. Yesterday, we went for Father's Day and the family couldn't have asked for a better experience. The service is as good as ever from start to finish, like always. Attentive without being intrusive. Our waitress made sure to always keep our grill stocked with kimchi, garlic, and bean sprouts, which catches the drippings from all the porky goodness in the center part of the inverted circular griddle. I can't express enough how wonderful the service has always been at this establishment. For this day, we had the black pork belly and shoulder, as well as premium pork neck and skin. Maybe the texture of pork skin is not for everyone, but you really can't go wrong with the other three. My favorite today was the belly, but other people preferred the shoulder and neck. Golden brown and crispy outside, juicy and tender on the inside. Dip the meats in one of the three sauces. Then eat it with a lettuce wrap, adding whatever veggies combination you see on the grill and table. One important note, do not leave here without having the Fried Rice at the end of your meal. They take whatever is left on the griddle, add more if necessary, cut it up to smaller pieces, then toss in marinated rice with lettuce and seaweed, based on how many portions you request. You can also add items like egg and Spam if so desired. Btw, each portion is about a small bowl meant for one person. At this point of the meal, you likely won't need that much, so I advise one bowl per two people. Then again, you can ask for more and take home what you don't finish. Just remember to allow the Fried Rice to cook long enough on the griddle that the bottom forms a crispy and crunchy crust. Anyway, if you like pork and looking for a uniquely wonderful experience, then make sure you find this hidden gem that has been making their customers happy for over 20 years now.

Only con is I wish there was a little more seafood. You are given banchan of freshly fermented kimchi and radish kimchi.
