First of all, not sure what the correct name is for this place, lol. Blue Sky Deli I see on the sign on some pictures, but maybe that was before? I went in March 2023 and there was no name at all for the place, love the mystery of it all! This was definitely on my list of food to try while in NY, and yet full of doubts since I didn't understand how this thing could be all that good with all the pizza and bagels and katz to try.. Well... what a reversal of mindset for me personally. The chopped cheese ended up being my #1 FAVORITE NY food during the 4 day short trip, lol!!! Ordered at the cashier, 2 chopped cheese with everything on hero bread. $8 each X 2 = $16 + tip into jar for the awesome cook/s that work their magic back there behind the tall counter. Sandwich gets made fresh to order. Standing around for the 10~15 mins, I watched the screen playing the Hajji's being featured repeatedly and with each repetition I got more and more excited. Order ready, rushed back to the parked car (no idea if needed to pay for the small side street where I found parking, NY is just way too confusing and difficult for parking, but I was able to find on the small 1 way side street the Google maps directed me to, I guess Tito Puente Wy. Immediately split it open to see and... it looked kind of disappointing, not much inside the sandwich at all... Hmmm, ok I was sharing with my wife and the other sandwich I got for grandma, so give it a try. My goodness, what the heck is this sandwich?! Looks so basic and minimal, but WOW, that taste! Maybe that's the namesake Harlem Taste?!?! This thing was 100% right up my alley!!! After eating all the other stuff in NY, this is the thing I keep talking about back in LA. Maybe I love it so much because I am a burger person? But my wife also loved it! Not sure what makes this thing taste so good, burger patty chopped up with cheese, little bit of lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo and ketchup I think all inside an unassuming bread which is pressed with a panini type. Seriously doubted the ketchup being in there, but it all works beautifully!!! Maybe because it's basically a burger in a sandwich bread. I could not figure out how it can taste so good, but I chalked it up to maybe the NY bread. And the way it gets pressed to have like a harder exterior with a chewy bread interior. And/or the seasoning they put on the burger patty (from the video that plays, you can see a bunch of seasoning being put on the beef, color is not just salt/pepper). I guess it's true, you just gotta try it to see for yourself. Maybe not for some, but for me this was just awesome! I was so shocked, I actually went back 2 days later and got a half dozen more to bring back for relatives to try (even they never had before living in NY, lol). Everyone that had it loved it! On the second visit the cashier guy seemed to be the guy that was featured on the video being played (manager or owner?)! I asked him so what's the secret to this thing, I will be craving this thing when I go back to LA. He said secret of recipe from God, indeed this is a heavenly sandwich! He shared a story about his uncle from Germany came to visit him and uncle tried the chopped cheese and was smitten by it. Next time he was going to visit his uncle, his uncle told him to bring him some chopped cheese! When he told uncle the sandwich wouldn't be any good if he takes it on the long journey. His uncle told him if not bringing chopped cheese, don't even come to visit him!!! LOL!!! But seriously, I don't think that's a joke, it really is a one of a kind sandwich for me. If I ever go back to NY, def will have Hajji's. In the meantime, I am just experimenting trying to make a copy cat taste at home in vain... Oh when I mentioned there's not even much meat in the sandwich, he said you can get the double chopped cheese ($10). But not sure if it'll be better, since the ratio and combination of the things in the chopped cheese seemed like something you do not want to mess with. *****

I had enough reason to give this a one star. I had to wait 30 minutes for a chopped cheese and they still got my order wrong. But they offered me a drink from the deli on the house to amend their mistake. That's usually not enough to redeem it. And I'll be honest with you, this sandwich is really good. The sauces mixed in with the seasoning on the patty and the toasted and crunchy hero, oh my god. I enjoyed the hell out of every bite. Still, I am giving this a four star for now because I have two complaints. 1) I know there's a queue and that there's about 6 people ahead of me that ordered it first. Still, a 30 minute wait for a chopped cheese is kind of tough. I don't think it's worth the wait. 2) it is a small sandwich. It's a thin and short hero roll and was consumed too soon. I simply wished there was more especially when there are sandwiches in nearby delis in the area that are cheaper and have more volume. The OG chopped cheese is an experience for sure. It is worth trying once. But if I had to wait more than 10 minutes for this, consider this a one time thing. Might check the place out again if I have friends visiting who want to try the famed chopped cheese.

Let me start off by saying my mom only wants to go back to new york so she can come back to Hajji's. This spot had the most delectable chopped cheese I have ever tasted. Coming from the bay area, this sandwich really did wonders for my entire family. The way we continued to talk about how good the chopped cheese was through the entirety of the trip is how you know it was good. The workers were so hospitable & even offered to let my entire family eat in the shop amidst the pouring rain outside. This place was actually a 10 & I can't wait to come back here

You need a chopped cheese from Haji's in your life. My husband and I got ours as a hero with tomato and lettuce. This is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It's a big sandwich. If you're hungry, you'll probably finish the whole thing. Otherwise, share it with a friend. I can't say that I've ever had a chopped cheese before so I can't compare it to others, but it was a damn good sandwich. You can't beat the price or convenience either. Do yourself a favor and stop by to try one.

Ordered: Chopped cheese with everything on it (lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, and mayo) on hero (~$6) 2 small Arizonas (~$1): Watermelon & Mucho Mango flavors Aya's take: Are you even a real New Yorker if you don't go to Hajji's!? Had to check out the OG chopped cheese spot and it did not disappoint. Bomb sandwich and great price. Everyone knows a chopped cheese is the NYC staple so make sure your order rolls off your tongue when you get to the register.

The food taste good. I think the sandwich need more meat and it taste like ground beef and not actually a hamburger chopped up. The service was wonderful. Ambience is nice clean. If I was them I would toast the bread a little bit and it definitely needs more meat and not taste any jalapeño or pickles in mine got , a chopped cheese roll

The origin of the "Chopped Cheese" was here. This bodega was once known as Hajji's And it is here that the chopped cheese sandwich was first created -- now it's a sensation around New York City. More and more delis and botegas are offering them now, but there's nothing like the original! The chopped burger patties, melted yellow American cheese running through with sautéed onions, iceberg lettuce and sliced tomato complete the contents. It all comes together on a toasted sesame hero roll. The result is indescribably delicious and highly addictive! I'm ready for another!

If you find yourself in NYC, make sure to visit Hajii's Chopped Cheese on East 110th and 1st Ave. It's the only place I go for my chopped cheese sandwiches, they are incredibly delicious. Don't forget to pick up some chips, seltzer, and thank me later!

What makes Hajji's chopped cheese sandwich stand out is its freshness and quality. The beef is cooked to perfection and seasoned with a unique blend of spices, which gives it a delicious and flavorful taste. The sandwich is then topped with melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, which adds an extra layer of creaminess and freshness. If you're in the Harlem area and looking for a classic New York City sandwich, the chopped cheese at Hajji's is definitely worth trying. It's a local favorite and has earned a reputation for being one of the best chopped cheese sandwiches in the city. The area can have some shady characters, so I would recommend keeping your wits about you when going to Hajji's.

To be honest, I just went to get the famous Chopped Cheese. Which was everything it's cracked up to be. Very yummy. Other than that it's of course just a deli. Clean enough, staff friendly enough. But the sandwich is definitely worth a trip uptown

I finally managed to go to Hajji's and try the chopped cheese sandwich after watching Great Big Story's YouTube video about it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gu0v2ITeYU). I got it with everything, which was the recommended way of doing it, and I gotta say it did strike the perfect balance between all flavors. Neither the cheese nor the meat or condiments were overpowering in taste. The only downside is that the place did not accept credit cards. However, there is an ATM inside if you happen to be caught unprepared.

What a cool experience. My buddies took me here for the original chopped cheese. A New York staple that is a cheese burger chopped up into a sandwich. This had a unique story, fun experience, amazing flavor, and the perfect roll with just enough crunch. I love to try new things and this one met all expectations!

If sandwiches were a person, this would be MY PERSON! This would be my partner. My husband. The love of my life. And a hero for Six bux? What a deal man. An unbelievably unbeatable deal. What more can I say? I'm ready to puuch myself in the face that I have been to harlem so many times but waited till yesterday to have this perfect sandwich ever created on earth! So perfect that I drove from Bayside to Harlem TWICE on a Sunday, yup, you're reading this correctly, TWICE within a Ten hour window, on a Sunday ( don't believe me, check my check-ins), to have it again! Had this for Brunch, and late dinner. The bread is perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The meat is perfectly seasoned, and the onions, nice and caramelized. The cheese all melted and delicious, it's perfection! The guys at the deli are also super nice. If you're new, they will talk you thru the whole order, even though they're super busy. I do suggest calling ahead, as they are super busy and this way you won't have to wait in line. Now I will follow this up with the reactions of my husband when he had this sandwich. (What a sandwich. What a god damn sandwich. That's a life changing sandwich, like it will literally change your life. Like I'm sickly full (after eating a regular and double chopped cheese) but I want to keep eating it till I explode. I feel like such a fat loser. This is how I feel after an amazing rock show. That's how I feel rightnow, I'm in awe of this amazing sandwich I just ate. I don't even care if I don't sleep tonight, it was worth it). We got ours without tomatoes. We also prefer the double chopped cheese over the original. Either way, you can't go wrong. Get an Arizona with in! It's a perfect pairing. There you have it folks. Go, why are you still reading this? Get yourself this sandwich now!

Walking many miles per day was a new routine and caught up with her, so very thankful to locate this convenient location and find every item she wanted on her long list. Store was well stocked and merchandise was easily accessible. Staff were helpful and efficient.

Recently I'd ordered two bottles of Extra Strength Antacid Tablets from CVS, when I had a discount…read morecoupon. Unfortunately their expiration date is just several months from now, and meanwhile each bottle has 250 pills (admittedly the suggested dosage is 3 pills at-a-time, but still....). There's no way we'd consume anywhere near 500 of those pills by their expiration date, so I wanted to exchange them for bottles that have a more reasonable expiration. Today I had to be just one block from this store for a medical appointment, and fortunately there were (only) two bottles available - and their expiration date was *much* more generous. I went to the cashier's counter, and the cashier explained that she needed to have a supervisor handle the exchange (and I'd brought my receipt with me). The shift supervisor was inexplicably *nasty*, and from the very beginning. Meanwhile; she told me she couldn't do an "even exchange" because the flavor was different than the ones I'd purchased (?!) - so she said I'd have to return the ones I'd bought and then purchase the other ones. I told her that I'd used a discount coupon when making the purchase, whereas a "new" purchase would *not* provide the discount. She continued being nasty and suddenly disappeared, and then she *finally* reappeared many minutes later. At that point she told me she'd confirmed with the store manager what she'd told me - but she should have had the courtesy to at least tell me why she was suddenly leaving, and her nastiness was totally inexcusable. Now I'm going to contact the CVS Customer Service Department, but I shouldn't have to waste so much time re: this situation - and most importantly, CVS shouldn't have an employee who's so nasty. (The only reason why I'm giving two stars instead of one is because a very pleasant employee helped me find the location of the pills).
