Towed my daughter's car to the shop. We thought the core heater was bad. We estimated the cost at $2,000. They estimated $1,500 to $1.800. But needed to check it out first. Then called and said, "Oh it was only clogged hoses, we cleaned it up and fixed it". $675 which included a new battery, and they fixed the rear wiper fluid hose for free!!!! Fixing your vehicle for less than you expected is awesome. Finding an auto repair shop that's honest and helps their customers is priceless! read more

Shop was recommended to my wife by three of her coworkers. Called May 9th and requested a quote to replace the water pump on a 2017 Ford Explorer. Bill said he could get the car in for repair the following week on May 14th and that the turnaround time would be 2-3 days. Dropped the car off May 13th after hours and received a call May 16th that the car was ready for pick. Bill was supper upfront and professional with pricing and time frame. I have taken my truck (2008 Silverado)to Harlow's for years and have always been very impressed. The last time I went in my truck had been sitting for six months so I wanted to give her some TLC before I started abusing her as my day to day. My brakes seemed to be making an intermittent squeal that I wanted fixed , and I also planned on having her tuned up and the transmission flushed. I expected to pay upwards of 800$ for what I wanted.....But that wasn't the case! After a couple hours, Bill called me up and told me the only thing my truck needed was to have a belt that had a crack in it replaced (for 35$). When I made it back to the shop to figure out what was going on, I was told my brakes were squeaking a bit but they all had plenty of pad left on them, they weren't even close to being in need of changing. I was told they would change them if the squeak was to much for me, but it was unnecessary. Bill said they also checked my tranny and it didn't need flushed. Same goes for the tune up! I was told they checked my plugs and filters and everything was perfect! He pretty much was laughing at me for wanting to throw money at my truck for things it didn't need, and I have never had that treatment from any other shop. They could have made unnecessary repairs to my truck and I wouldn't have even questioned it. They are fair, honest and very reliable and I recommend them to everybody. I got an estimate from one of the major tire shops for brakes on our car. They quoted about $1,000 for front and rear. Harlow Auto Repair on Perry Avenue in Bremerton did the job for $400. The service writer's name is Bill. I've asked him to do other work and he'll call me if he thinks it isn't needed. Today I brought the car in because the ABS sensor had gone out. I had it replaced on one side a year ago and it cost about $350. He just called and said to pick the car up at no charge. They found the connector on the sensor they installed last year had come loose. Now, they could have easily told me the other side went out, which I assumed. Or they could have told me the one they replaced had failed again. I would have believed them. Either way, they could have hit me for $350 and I would have not been the wiser. Instead, they fixed the loose connector at no charge. In my mind, you measure a mechanic by his skill and his honesty. These guys have both. read more

After being quoted a $2000.000 repair with no guarantees by a well known shop on Wheaton Way on our 2003 Camry, we decided to get a second opinion from Harlow Auto Repair, because Consumer Checkbook rates it as the best auto mechanic shop in Kitsap County and also because their customers all rave about the excellent service there. Bill, one of the managers there, looked at the car and said he thought it would probably only cost about $200.00 to clean the part that was causing the problem (constantly stalling out). Presto Chango! Talk about 100% honest and marvelous work. Harlow fixed our car and it's still running strong after a year and a half. Thank you, Bill! You're the greatest. Also, we've sent our friends to Harlow, and everyone is extremely happy with the work done. Amazing service!! Always weary (as a woman) when I walk into an auto shop but Harlow was nothing but helpful and honest. They made me feel confident in the repairs he suggested and didnt take advantage of me at all. On top of the amazing work that was done and agreed upon, there were a few minor maintence issues that maybe could have waited, but the team there addressed them at no additional cost to me (like a slow leak in my tire, and checked all my fluid levels) buying a used car can always be daunting, but the individuals here went above and beyond to make me feel safe and comfortable in my "new" car. read more

I took my car here for a tuneup. When I called and made the appointment, the short fat guy who answers the phone said it would run me about 100 dollars. Obviously, I knew it would end up being more and that's okay. The next day he called me and quickly listed off about six things that needed repair for 700 dollars. I said that's more than I was expecting but only knocked two things off the list. He was obviously offended by my comment regarding price and was quite rude telling me I could go somewhere else. When I picked up my car I met the guy. He was sweaty, dirty, and just as I suspected, very unprofessional. He only performed two tasks but still charged me 400 dollars and said I told him not to do anymore. We went back and forth a little bit and ultimately I got nowhere customer service wise. He is a jerk and has horrible customer service. Price was not unreasonable but my breaks make a funny noise now. He of course did not help me when I inquired about that noise. read more

I have lived in this county for over 40 years and in that time frame Harlow"s was the number 1 repair shop up until I brought my car in for a turn signal switch to be replaced. And to look at some lighting issues. After they installed the switch I tried to pick up my vehicle and it would not start. Keep in mind it worked perfectly well when I dropped it off. So I brought this to managers attention and he said he would look at it. The next day I went to pick up my vehicle the manager had it started and stated that there was nothing wrong with it, being as how it started "all" day for him. HE then proceeded to tell me that if I took it home and it happened again "I would have TO DEAL WITH IT. I got my vehicle home and low and behold I turned it off and tried to start it and nothing. I called the shop and told the Manager what was going on and proceeded to get mouthy, using the F word frequently and threatening me with "His shop full off Mechanics" if I came up there. I would not recommend this shop to anyone, and apparently I am not the first to get treated this way. read more
