I come here alot for special occasions/ holidays. I am always impressed by the buffet they usually have at these events. There is something for everyone's taste buds. Whenever I have came here the food has always been excellent. The service is always great. The staff is friendly and helpful. The club itself is very nicely decorated. There are 5 or so floors to this club. It has a pool, basketball court ( or half court I can't remember), gym and people can play cards here too. You do have to be a member here though. So, I am a guest whenever I come. Since in some of the previous reviews I see they talk about the bathrooms and how clean they are, yes, I agree 100%. read more

4.75/5 I came here as a friend's +1 for her work holiday party. The service is amazing. We were greeted outside by a doorman. There was complimentary coat check, which was really appreciated since the event was on a cold December night. The waitstaff came by frequently to clear empty plates. The food and drinks were really good too. It was buffet style with salad, chicken, salmon, beef tenderloin (sliced by staff and cooked perfectly medium/medium rare), pasta, shrimp cocktail, garlic bread... yum! There was a separate dessert buffet too, with cookies, brownies, cakes, and even ice cream. The open bar was busy all night with only 3 bartenders, but they made it work. I ordered a vodka cranberry and a dirty Shirley (which they also added cranberry juice to... interesting but I didn't hate it!). While the drinks were free at this event, they did have a bowl for cash tips for the bartenders. There was a DJ and dance floor on the second floor. This event had also used the fourth floor, so my friend and I went up there briefly to check it out. The elevators were slow so we took the stairs, which are curved and red carpeted and would look great for group photos. The fourth floor was more of a classy lounge setup, which is super cool! The location is great, just steps away from a subway station. I took off 0.25 star because the second floor women's room was out of order and the one on the first floor wasn't super easy to find... they should have larger signs indicating where the restrooms are. But the restroom itself was really clean and well decorated. If my friend's workplace does their holiday party here again next year, I'm definitely asking to be her +1 again! :) read more

I've been to some clubhouses in NY. Recently I went to a Harmonie Club for an alumni event. They booked a good size room for about 75 attendees. I love events because they try to serve good (if not great) hors d'oeuvres. This time it was a great one. We had a panel discussion followed by a networking event. The interior of the clubhouse is peaceful and cozy. The lobby's quiet and quite small and the logo can be found all over the clubhouse. It's a clubhouse and not a hotel, so you don't always see people. "I see dead people!" I'm kidding! I'm kidding! The service was of course excellent because professionalism is their utmost importance. My friends and I enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres although I didn't get to take the photos due to my hands being occupied with a plate and a drink, sorry! But I enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres. read more

I had a great time at the Summer kick off event . The host was gracious the venue was gorgeous. The club itself dates back to the 1800's which in it's self makes it so much more alluring. I loved the different food stations set up from the Mac n Cheese , fries , Crab cakes and taco bar to the veggie burgers , beef burgers and salad bar. There was an assorted cheese and fruit station and finally but definitely not least the candy and ice cream station. Everything was oh so good !!!! The event also had caricature stations for the guest which was added fun to a wonderful night. Applause and more applause to the great band that played last night - you guys rocked !!!!! We had a fabulous time at brunch here. The service was on point. The staff was friendly and always there to assist with anything we may have needed. My first stop was the omelette station. They had three different cheeses to choose from, different meats and vegetables. I got goat cheese with spinach and mushrooms and really enjoyed it. The chilled shrimp cocktail and lobster claws and tails were incredibly fresh. I happen to like tartar sauce with my seafood, but they only had cocktail out. They called the kitchen and by the time I sat down at our table, I had a dish of tartar sauce waiting for me. This is a members only club and I had the pleasure of being invited to brunch. I attended a conference here and I was quite surprised by how small this club is. It is older, so the walls are incredibly thin. There was a hospitality suite set up in one room while the conference was in the next and the entire time we could hear what was happening in the next room. The Harmonie club is a exquisite club that is located in the heart of midtown. It is to my knowledge a members only club, but does allow guests to be accompanied with said fellow members. The building itself has quite some history, for being a members club for Jewish folk since the mid 1800s. One of few clubs still around since then for the jewish population, although I'm sure times have changed and it doesn't seem as if religion is checked at the door. My review is based on mainly the dining and the decor. For starters, the establishment has a very polished look. Very well maintained and the staff are super friendly. There are multiple floors that offer amenities such as private dining room/ballroom, Pool, Basketball courts, Squash Courts, a theater, and so on. I have dined here on several occasion and the food has always impressed me. Whether it be Buffet style or A la Carte, you wont be disappointed. The two items that truly stood out to me are believe it or not, Their Oysters and Omelet. Im a huge lover of oysters and order them often in some of the fines restaurants in NYC, my goodness.. This place has some amazing oysters. Everyone at my table agreed they taste like silk on your tongue. And yes, surprisingly, the omelet actually amazed me as well. Ive never eaten eggs and said Wow..Mmmmm. And Harmonie has done that exact thing. The staff is something to brag at on another level. Came for a holiday party and the place remains the same every year. The waitstaff are pleasant and eager to please, but the club itself is a little staid and old. I enjoyed the Harmonie Club very much. They keep the location very nice and clean. It is a bit smaller than other clubs in New York, but has a lot of character and a very interesting history. The 2nd and 3rd floor conference and dining spaces are excellent for an event. Their food is very good, and their staff very attentive. I had a broken leg and was visiting for a Tufts University alumni event, and the wait staff took care of me, including bringing me drink and food instead of having to wait in line (my date helped as well). The Harmonie Club is located at the beautiful 5th and 59th street intersection, which has the flagship Apple Store, Bergdorf Goodman, the Plaza Hotel and Central Park surrounding. Across the street is the Metropolitan Club, another very nice location... Should you be lucky enough to attend an event here, you will not be disappointed! read more

My experience here was extraordinary, and it made for extremely happy guests, namely, one very happy young man celebrating his Bar Mitzvah. Located close to the grandeur of the corner of 5th and 59th, approximately 200 people attended the ceremony and after party at the Harmonie Club, "One of New York's oldest and most prestigious private clubs", from 10:30 through 5:30 on a Saturday afternoon. The entire event took place on various levels of the club, with the religious ceremony happening in the Main Dining Room on the 5th Floor, the cocktail hour taking place in the Harmonie Room on the 3rd Floor, and the after party taking place in the Ballroom Suite on the first floor. Each space was gorgeously appointed and, frankly, quite stunning. The Ballroom Suite, split into a main area with two salons, was perfect for catering to the needs of both the adults and kids. While the adults got the dining area, the kids got both salons, complete with a lounge area and a gaming area with blackjack tables and slot machines in line with the casino theme of this particular Bar Mitzvah after party. (Lucky kids!) The staff of the club was absolutely amazing! Not only were they on their game on virtually every level imaginable, most I encountered were very personable. During the after party, while dealing with the serving of salads, dinners, and desserts, my specific table's waitress was an absolute doll and conversed with us in a very genuine way. They helped guide us to different areas of the club when need be, mixed and served us drinks with professionalism, and made us all feel welcomed. As for the food, our cups runneth over! For this ceremony, there were stations for both kids and adults. Admittedly, a lot of the adults slid over to the kids area during the cocktail hour to snag a few of their delicious fried mac & cheese bites! It's not to say the tables of crudities, cheese, stir-fries, and made - to - order pasta plates weren't appreciated, but! Those fried mac & cheese bites were amazing! For the after party, we were served a delicious mozzarella salad with heirloom stewed tomatoes, artichoke hearts, grilled squash, and a pesto drizzle that was delectable. The mozzarella was fresh and soft, akin to a burrata. The beau and other guests at our table were actually glad two of our table guests never showed up; we may or may have not taken their salads and split them amongst ourselves. (Waste not, want not!) We had a choice of steak or salmon for a main course. Those who had the salmon loved it; I partook in the steak, which came out as a flavorful medium-rare fliet mignon with a small scoop of mashed potatoes, asparagus, and carrots. The plate was perfect throughout. For dessert, guests were all offered a plate of small cookies per table and a delicious individual apple tart with vanilla bean ice cream per guest, along with a choice of coffee or tea. I am unsure of what delicious items the kids got, but I did see an ice cream bar on their side of the dining area, which made me burn with jealously just a little. Ha! From start to finish, attending this event at the Harmonie Club was an honest to goodness treat. I doubt I'll ever return unless invited to another ceremony here, but at least many of us can share in memories of this wonderful day. read more

My review is from the 60"s when my dad was executive chef of the Harmonie. What wonderful memories I have from that time. Three uncles were bartenders. Another uncle was manager until his death in 1960. The cuisine was classic French. The buffets were elaborate. We still have photos from those special events. My Dad spoke of Jacob Javits and other notable people he had the pleasure to meet. How nice to see that the Harmonie is still alive and well, although functioning in quite a different manner (women for one! and a fitness center!...then only bowling and squash). Perfect location as well, so close to the allure of fifth avenue and the park. read more

I went to the Harmonie Club for a black tie dinner. I thought the setting was beautiful. The lounge was lushly decorated with a huge leather couch, marble, and lots of rich, dark wood. It looked very much like "Old NYC." Our dinner was on the second floor. I was surprised that there was only one bathroom upstairs. The food was great. I was told by others who had been there in the past, that the food was mediocre, but that wasn't my experience. I had a vegetarian meal, a salad appetizer and a fantastic spring pea risotto. read more

I've been to a number of events at the Harmonie Club and it is still one of my favorite of NY's elite institutions like the Metropolitan Club, Union Club, etc. The spaces in the club's McKim, Mead and White building are magnificent and kept in immaculate condition.
