    Brunch

Back here for pre theatre brunch. I was hoping the holiday decor was up, but not yet *sniffle*. We got there early, and it started to fill up. Service was a bit slow. My smoked Bourbon sat at the bar too long and wasn't smoked. Oh well. Other than that food was great. Pricey, but it's NYC! Go when decor is Up.

Ambiance is 10 out of 10!! Decor for Christmas is 10! Food is probably a 2. Nothing great or special. They ran out of seasonal vegetables. My side salad was just lettuce. No basil on capresse salad. Just ehh. Service was a 3. Understaffed.

The interior of this place is gorgeous--I really loved how it looked! The service was quick, but our waiter was just... meh. The food and drinks were fairly average, nothing special. Cute spot, but probably a one-time visit for me.

Brought my wife here for a Halloween birthday luncheon, and what an experience! Firstly, the Halloween-themed ambiance was just amazing! Service was just as spectacular: the hostess put us up at a nice table upstairs with the rest of the diners (I made reservations via OpenTable for lunch at the bar section, not realizing it). Our server, Romeo was just as pleasant, professional and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, as were the drinks (my wife had a mocktail!). Truly, we were so very pleased with the entire experience we plan on making this a regular spot for special occasions! See you there!

The wait was very long. We arrived at noon and waited on line until 1:30--they opened at 1. It was December and they don't offer reservations during the holiday season. The inside was filled from floor to ceiling with beautiful Christmas decor. The space is very tight with very little room between tables. So close that diners at the nextctable started a conversation with us. I had the steak sandwich which was delicious, with a cocktail.

This place earns stars for their Christmas decorations. It is certainly festive. The food is ok, but there are not standouts. It is multilevel with a friendly vibe. The upper floor closes after a certain time.

Found this place by accident after walking around Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Heavily decorated for Christmas, it was warm and festive inside. Got a table quickly and the food and drinks soon followed. The place was packed but service was unaffected.

I came for the holiday décor, and it did not disappoint! The decorations, service, cocktails, and music were everything I needed. Such a perfect way to celebrate my birthday while in NY.Cheers! Until the next time!!

Food was great! Customer service ok-ish but slow. The table reservation process stole money from me and there's no easy contact to recover it (try calling open table, tells me to call the restaurant, call the restaurant, tells me to email them and has no one at the phone).

I visited Papillon in NYC after searching for Christmas-themed bars, and it was such a fun experience. I went for a holiday cocktail and, even with the busy holiday season, I didn't have to wait in line too long. Entry is free, and the space is much bigger than I expected -- there's a standing bar area downstairs and additional bars upstairs, so there's plenty of room to explore. I ordered the mulled wine, which was absolutely delicious. So many warm, cozy flavors packed into one glass. I do wish it had been served a little hotter, but the flavor made up for it. The place was definitely packed, which can feel overwhelming, but I went specifically to get into the Christmas spirit -- and it delivered. The entire restaurant is decked out with lights, ornaments, garland... everywhere you look there's something festive. I caught myself turning my head in every direction just taking it all in. My server was helpful and patient despite the high-energy, high-stress vibe of the crowd. I didn't order any food, but all the cocktails I saw being brought out looked delicious and super festive. If you're in NYC during the holidays, definitely add Papillon to your bucket list!

This place looks amazing! It's so festive and amazing photo potential. However the service is completely terrible. Coming in the hostess was cold about the seating. They offer standing at the bar but there was no room at all. As we looked for seating there's was several tables open. So we sat down at an available clean non reserved table. The menu is a QR code, they have Christmas cocktails listed but they're not available. The waiter informed us but took too long to return so we left. Such a shame that this festive bar doesn't have a cheery staff.

Alright I knew there was going to be a long wait, but do they have to have it so you literally have to stand online the entire time? Take some tips from horsefeathers in Tarrytown, just as crowded and just as appealing around holidays. You wait on a line then once you give your name and they say how long, you can go stroll around. If you aren't around when your name is called, they go to the next person but you are still on the list so when you do show up you're getting the next available table. Still filling up the restaurant, and instead of making people stand on a line for 2 hours they can go shop and spend money elsewhere! :P seriously NYC I expect you to be on top of these things. Tarrytown shouldn't have a better set up lol. Anyway the wait was worth it, food was amazing which I was surprised about and the decor was absolutely amazing. I did get to stroll around btw, but that's because my amazing husband and son sat on the line for 2 hours for me :P not sure if we'd ever do it again but possibly for Halloween season. I still wish they had a different waiting system. I want to go walk around 5th avenue when I'm in this area lol.

If you ever read my reviews, you might be aware that I rarely review anyone lower than 3 stars. But I think the service of this place is terrible. Came here for their Halloween decorations. Their decorations for the holidays is top notch! The first time I came I just got my order and that's it. There was no friendliness, no engagement, just nothing from the servers. I dismissed it though. The second time I came with a friend who wanted to see the decorations. This time around there were parties with private areas for themselves. I had asked an employee who was standing behind the hostess stand what areas I could go to-- and she replied with a dismissive attitude : "There is a hostess standing behind you." Like somehow I was supposed to know that the employee standing behind a hostess stand was not a hostess! And even though she was an employee, she somehow couldn't answer my question of what areas we were allow to be in. She could but didn't wanted to. Moreover, I had no clue there was someone standing behind me. Luckily, this person (the hostess) standing behind me was kind enough to direct me where I needed to go. We sat at the bar, got our orders, but again not great service. And again no friendliness, no engagement, just nothing for the servers. This is just a place where you come for the photo ops.

The RW menu was nice and well worth it, but as for me, I saw something else that I would rather have than the choices on the RW menu. I decided to go with the duck confit, but I did not read the menu thoroughly to see what side it came with. When it came out I saw it was with Flageolet bean Ragout which unfortunately I cannot eat, so I had to let Anna our server know. I was hoping she would keep the duck and just replace the side, but it looked like they made a completely new order, what service. My wife and son both ordered from RW menu and chose the boeuf bourgigninon which was so delicious, very tender beef and smooth mashed potatoes. We decided to also order escargot and French onion soup. Our service was just amazing from Anna our main server and the support servers who brought out our orders and to those who made sure our glasses were never empty. Of course the prefixe dessert was also delicious. Just super happy we learned that it was restaurant week and that we were able to experience it.

Oh, what a delight to stumble upon Marseille on a rainy day!…read more We stumbled into Marseille completely by chance. We were actually going to a different restaurant but the rain came down so hard, we needed to go somewhere closer. I want to come back and have a true meal here! (Apparently they do a discounted steak frites and that is my love language.) The staff very kindly accommodated us even thought we didn't have a reservation (we were only two). Everything in Marseille is done with a purpose. The waiters are all dressed in the same charming uniform. The cocktails are crafted with certain flavor profiles in mind. The menu is there to whisk you away to a little, remote village in France - except, you're on 9th Avenue in New York City and the street is littered with pushy walkers and....well, you get the drill. Anyway. Marseille begins the meal with the most excellent bread service. A fresh, hot sourdough roll is placed upon your table, along with herbed butter and oil. I could make a meal out of that bread alone. My cousin and I split the mushroom ravioli as an appetizer - a little salty, but excellent. The flavors were very well balanced and six was a good number for a dinner portion. We actually opted for the French onion soup as out main, and it was probably the best French onion soup we've ever had. There was also so much, we could not finish it. My Francais G&T was unbelievably good and came with a cornichon. Actually, shout out to our busser (I wish I got his name!) who accidentally took my drink-pickle away and had the waiter bring over more to make up for it. It was such a kind gesture and he deserves to be awarded for his attention to detail. (The wait staff overall was excellent. Kudos to the tall waiter with the snake ring and the shorter waitress with the great eyebrows. Again, I wish I got their names!) Oh, and as a bonus - they gave us some incredible truffles as a parting gift because we didn't stay for dessert. Like I said - the attention to detail here is on point! Overall, this is a fabulous spot. I would love to try brunch here!

It was a large and comfortable space. Just surprising that it was somewhat empty for a Friday theater night. A bit of a touristy feel at first, has to do w/ the fact it's in Time Sq and in a hotel, but the food was definitely not touristy. I had the 1605 signature salad and the crab cake entree. The salad was tasty and well constructed, but small on portion size. The crab cake was the best crab cake I ever had, even better than Obrycki's in Baltimore, chock full of crab, not much filler at all, and good blend of spices. My friend had the onion soup, the grilled watermelon salad, and the mac/cheese. The onion soup was decent, good amount of cheese and the bread had still a crunchy edge, but soup base a tiny bit on the salty side. The watermelon salad was pretty on the plate, tasty, but again, small portioned for its price. The mac/cheese was ok; the cheese they used was overly pungent. If they just stuck w/ a nice cheddar, it would have been better. The neighboring table ordered the chicken pot pie and the skirt steak; both looked delicious. I would definitely go back for the crab cake and maybe try the pot pie. The prices are affordable for each item, btwn $14-32. If you just want to order one thing, avoid the salads; they won't be filling. But if you're going to order more than one thing, then it can easily be over $30/person. The restaurant.com certificate definitely helps. They also have a pre-theater prix-fix 3 courses for $25 that seems like a good deal.

The first person filled your drinking glass and brought over some bread. I especially like the foccocia bread with the tomato and olive. My friend and I were treated like VIP and we enjoyed all the attention but some times it got a bit annoying because just about every 5 minutes, they'd come and ask how everything was. My friend laughed and said we can eat our meal in peace. Haha! 3 stars for the food. We ordered the theater menu special which was 3 course meal for $25. We ordered a House Salad, Skirted Steak with Asparagus and rice, and Gelato. I had better salads at fast food restaurant. It was Mediterranean Mix salad bag you find at super market, throw in some chopped pears. What made this salad special was roasted hazel nuts. The dressing was lemony which really didn't go well. I would recommend a Raspberry dressing to make a bit sweet and tangy. As for the Skirted steak, it was a thin piece of rough beef. It wasn't the best cut and it had a lot of tendons running through the small piece of meat. The sauce that was on top of it tasted like ketchup with onions. It tasted good but I expected more from this fancy restaurant. As for the Gelato, it was Delicious! I got the Mango and my friend got the Lemon. The lemon was way too sour and bitter so we shared mines instead. I had a Restaurant.com gift certificate and on the cert. it requires the server to add on gratuity tip 18.5%. Furthermore, NYC has a SERVICE CHARGE of 18.5% mandatory. Basically, I got a double whammy. The waiter got a 37% tip!! No wonder he was so extra nice! The food is average at best. Friendly service but I wonder if I got screwed at the end. :)

We didn't know it was restaurant week in New York City. Grand Brasserie almost seems like a mirage in the middle of Grand Central Station. Grand Brasserie is a very upscale looking restaurant. From the large bar to the private booths in the dining area, GB has a classic New York elegance. My wife and I are seated and we quickly ordered cocktails. I started with the Crimson Negroni. A classic cocktail with a modern twist, very ooh la la. My main course, I'm a simple man so a want a simple French inspired meal. Steak Frites for Mr Bill S, please and thank you! Now, I'm not sure why Grand Brasserie isn't on any lists for the best places in New York to get a quality Steak Frites. The chef did an excellent job in preparing this dish. The Frites? My wife kept sneaking fries, that's how I know they're that good. And the steak? Buttery and cooked perfectly. When you order a Steak Frites, this is not the best cut of steak. Let me be fair before I am critical: the Warwick Hotel on 54th Street is a genuinely nice property. The rooms are well-appointed, the location is excellent, and the overall experience of staying here has been a pleasant one for our family of four. The staff at the front desk and throughout the hotel have been courteous and professional. Which is precisely why what passes for a continental breakfast at Murals on 54 is so jarring and so difficult to overlook. The contrast between the quality of the hotel itself and the quality of what is being served at breakfast is stark enough to warrant a review entirely on its own. We received complimentary breakfast vouchers for four guests, valued at $24 per person, as a courtesy after our room was not ready upon check-in on Monday afternoon. We appreciated the gesture sincerely and understood that delays happen. What we did not appreciate was discovering what $24 per person actually buys at this restaurant, and what it communicates about how seriously the kitchen takes its responsibility to the guests it serves. The pastries were stale. Not slightly past their peak, but genuinely stale, the kind of stale that suggests they were not baked that morning or perhaps even the morning before. The croissants, which should be the centerpiece of any respectable continental breakfast and a point of quiet pride for a hotel of this standing, were rock hard. A proper croissant should shatter delicately at the first bite, yielding buttery, laminated layers that dissolve almost immediately. These required effort to bite through. Serving hardened croissants at a hotel of this caliber is not a minor oversight. It is a failure of basic quality control that any competent kitchen manager should catch before a single plate leaves the pass. When the most fundamental item on a continental breakfast menu misses this badly, it sets a tone for everything that follows. The "fresh juice" was not fresh. It was bottled, made from concentrate, and tasted exactly like what it was. In a city where fresh-squeezed orange juice is available on virtually every corner and in nearly every diner and café within walking distance, describing bottled concentrate as fresh juice is misleading at best and quietly contemptuous of the guest at worst. The word "fresh" should not appear anywhere near a product that arrived sealed from a distributor. This is not a minor semantic quibble. It is a misrepresentation of what you are being served. The yogurt was Chobani, presented in its original retail cup, placed on a plate and brought to the table. A cup of Chobani yogurt retails for well under $2 at any grocery store in the neighborhood. There was no granola, no fresh fruit, no honey, no accompaniment of any kind, and no presentation whatsoever beyond the cup itself sitting on a plate. It was a grocery store product served in a restaurant setting at a restaurant price, and there is simply no graceful way to characterize that as acceptable for a hotel of the Warwick's reputation. We are genuinely grateful that the vouchers made this meal free for our family, because $96 for four people for what we received would have been indefensible and infuriating in equal measure. The Warwick Hotel clearly holds itself to a high standard across every other dimension of the guest experience. The rooms are lovely, the service throughout the property has been warm and professional, and the hotel carries itself with an elegance that its history warrants. Murals on 54 is not currently living up to any of that. We would sincerely encourage hotel management to revisit the continental breakfast program before more guests are asked to pay $24 a head for stale pastries, bottled concentrate, and supermarket yogurt served without even the pretense of presentation. The hotel is genuinely better than this. The breakfast should be too.

I would have never thought I'd dine at a Vietnamese restaurant inside of the historic Warwick hotel…read more! I'm sure lots of people know but this is one of the most famous hotels in New York and growing up here it was always talked about this place because the Beatles and The Supremes stayed at this hotel. So it was an absolute honor to even dine here. . I dined here with a small group and during prime time dinner hours and it wasn't too crowded (though it was the middle of the week) that's probably the best time to dine here to avoid a crowd. .
