Went to get a couple's massage. The lady at the front desk said the same thing that other reviewers here have mentioned (Swedish massage is too soft). The massage was great but the room wasn't. The curtains were aweful so you've got to be careful when changing. After the massage the masseuse was sitting at the door and offered water when we were leaving. We had decided to give a $14 tip (~17%) and gave her the money, but the lady at the front desk insisted that the tip was $10 a person (20 total). It doesn't say this anywhere. I went Harmony for very very bad shoulder pain and lower back pain and stiffness due to long-term sitting-work. Before that, I was unable to raise up my arms or bend down properly because both my shoulders and my lower back felt like a piece of hard concrete. The discomfort had bothered me for a long time. Harmony was beyond amazing! Anna looses ended my shoulder and back muscles using various techniques which are really targeted my painful spots. She got every knot and had me sooooo relaxed at the end. After the massage, I was shocked that I could not only raise up my arms but also move them with more mobility. In addition, I was able to bend and even touch my feet. I highly recommend Harmony for a massage. I can't wait for another massage! Harmony is clean and neat. (Dull, aching pain) I've been searching for a deep tissue massage in the area and came across this place. I gave it a try even though there are countless negative reviews. I called and made an appointment. She told me up front what type of massage services they offer and the price. $40 for a deep tissue massage for 1 hr. Everyone was very welcoming and nice. Julie knew exactly where to spend the most time on my body and the very next day I was sore but had little to no pain in my shoulder/collarbone . 2 days later no more dull aching pain. I should have checked this page before going. I had a very similar experience to many others. The massage itself was lovely. When I walked to the desk to pay at the end and told the receptionist the total to put on my card - which included a 20% tip, her response was, "So you're only giving her xx?!" I was horrified. I asked her what the problem was, as the amount I'd specified included a 20% tip. Her reply was a noncommittal grunt uttered without looking up from her desk. I don't care how much I tipped. I purchased a groupon to try this place out. In the front they show regular rates and the groupon rates. Apparently the massages are 70$ on the regular, but 35$ if you have a groupon...except they don't even check or verify if you have a groupon, which I thought was really sketch that they were marketing their services for more than they really were...you don't need a groupon..its 35$ when you walk in. I called the business in advance that I wanted to do the groupon rate and that I had purchased it online already...The lady recommended me to try the deep tissue massage and said it would just be 5$ dollars more. I had purchased the swedish massage for 35$, so I pay her the extra 5$ using my credit card. I get the massage, which was pretty good. The little lady was surprisingly strong and was able to relieve a lot of my knots. She got my glutes and hamstring really well too. Later when I get home I find out that they charged me a whole 40$. They double charged me! I gave them a call and asked if they could reverse the charges, and they said that because I authorized and signed for it, it was already too late, that I would have to save the groupon for the next time I come in. I came here twice. Decided to come here since I just wanted a quick run-of-the-mill massage (vs spa treatment), it's cheap, Yelp reviews seemed okay, and it's close to where I live. My first massage here was fine. Decent. The wall doesn't go up all the way to the ceiling, so I could hear the conversations in other massage rooms and hallway. Whatev. My first visit was decent enough that I came back a second time and it was to take my hubby to help him de-stress. We did a couple's massage. My second visit was HORRIBLE. First irritation: The couple's massage room was actually the only room whose wall was from ceiling to floor so I would have thought that would mute the hallway noise. Nope, the noise was worse! Not from the hallway this time, but from the freakin hair salon next door. It shared a wall with the salon and the noise was coming out from the vent, where the salon ladies would talk in Vietnamese a mile a minute, going on and on loudly, for a good portion of our hour-long massage. The soft music in the background didn't cover up the vietnamese much. Second irritation: A couple's massage is supposed to be relaxing, but the 2 masseuse that we had were chit chatting it up in Madarin during the massage (not the whole time, but long enough that I was annoyed). Are you serious?? Maybe they thought we couldn't understand mandarin, but we could, and really? Do you need to talk about your family and co-worker gossip during our massage time?? Third (albeit minor) irritation: My masseuse was breathing WAY too loudly and heavy for me. My hubby's masseuse had on too squeaky shoes that every time she moved around, I could hear the squeaking. Again, not relaxing. Forth and FINAL irritation: For a $40 deep tissue massage and with all the annoyances that I had, I decided to tip $9 (which is still greater than 20% tip). The receptionist lady had the nerve to then DEMAND (not even ASK, but demand) a $10 tip. Her: "There's a minimum of $10 tip." Me: "Oh really? I didn't know that. Is that written somewhere?" Are you ready to find harmony?!?! Harmony Acupuncture and Massage is inconsistent, so it may or may not help you. I came here because of a well-acclaimed recommendation from a few people. After walking in, we were warmly greeted by Gloria. She showed gratitude for our presence, especially towards my sister who is becoming a regular. Harmony provides many options of massages, including "walking feet", deep tissue, and foot reflexology. There is also acupuncture (of course) and cupping, where they detoxify your body by de-oxygenating cups with a flame and placing that cup over your body for the toxic to be sucked out and promote blood flow. A friend and I got the 60 minutes of deep tissue massage ($40 I believe). My sister got the "walking feet" massage for $55 (around there). That is supposed to be even deeper than the deep massage. As I walked in and got ready, I told my masseuse who predominantly spoke Mandarin that I wanted strong massaging on my back. Throughout the massage, there were moments where the massage was not strong enough, while there are other parts where she applied too much force (e.g. my neck). It was very inconsistent and I did not know what to say without saying too much. She rubbed along my spine with great force like a xylophone which made me jump a little. I did enjoy her techniques, but the force she applied did not leave a desired impression afterwards. I don't know if I will return since I've had a better massages in SJ (Golden Foot Spa @ Tully & Reflexology @ Branham). I can spend $20 instead to feel better at any of those two places. However, it does mainly depend on your masseuse. For being good and bad at the same time, 3 stars is right for this place. I heard Gloria has the best technique here (for deep tissue), so ask for her if you have the chance. My sister said the "walking feet" therapy helped with her aching back a lot too. I then looked up the place on yelp and saw a bunch of bad reviews and figured hey why not it couldn't be that bad right? Big mistake. Firstly I purchased the $99 one for two 60 minute deep tissue massages AND BACK WALKING TREATMENTS. The massages were awesome, super relaxing the ladies seemed to know what they were doing. It was after the massage that the situation turned to not so great we laid there relaxed on the tables and wondered where the person was that was supposed to do the back walking. My man decided to go ask instead of wait longer. The girl at the front desk insisted that isn't what we paid for and that we would need to give her more money if we wanted that treatment. I made her get on the phone with her boss... To no avail... In the end all she did was argue with me and offer to give me a coupon for free couples back walking when we come back... I kept insisting I wouldn't be back and this isn't something I normally do all the time. I stood there accepted the coupon and left it truly wasn't worth anymore of my time. I didn't leave a tip... I'm originally from Milpitas, however have been livig in Hawaii for the past 5 years. We are here on vacation visiting with family. I was in need of some work on my neck and some tension relief. I've come to Harmony years ago, but never experienced the horrible service I received today. 1. I agree with another fellow yelper review on this forum... horrible place. 2. They do make you pay first, which is fine. They ask to pay tip as well and I said I willpay after. 3. The therapist had no clue what she was doing for the two hours I paid for. Besides leaving twice for the towels, she left an additional time and was smacking her gum during my whole session. 4. When I got out, the therapist and receptionist were waiting for me to get out of bathroom. I left a 15% tip and started to walk out, she had the nerve to laugh and say, "Excuse me, usually customers leave 20-25% tip. She and the receptionist laughed and stared at me until I gave her more money. I was so upset, I left the money and got in car. 5. Even more upset, I yelped to see what others were talking about and seen the same thing about how rude they are. I called back to ask what the owners name was and let the receptionist know how she made me feel and that the therapist sucked, that massage wasn't worth that tip. It took me a while to find comparisons to this massage parlor. Loved it the first time because the one that gave me the massage knew how to put pressure where its necessary. Other times I went there, I was deeply disturbed by the "TIP" having to be a certain amount AND they want it in cash. I found Harmony after being motivated by nagging soreness throughout my body from a strenuous work out week of climbing, cycling and yoga. I felt like spoiling myself but didn't want to break the bank. After an exhaustive search on craigslist that yielded mostly results of the happy ending variety, I found Harmony and their website. I can always count on my chinese people to provide me with quality service at a good value and at $35/hour they did just that! So what kept me from giving this place the full monty of 5 stars you may ask...because I can always count on my people to also cut various corners that keep them from being perfect. The facilities were clean and though I showed up 9:40 pm (they close @ 10:00 pm) they did take me in! They appear to provide acupressure as well as foot massage (where you sit in the recliner) but I can only comment on the full body massage service. They service the client in semi-private rooms that are partitioned off from the rooms by an incomplete dry-wall. What I mean by this is if you are of the little person variety, you would look up and assume all the rooms are private. But anyone of taller than average height can see that dry-wall is incomplete and does not extend all the way through the ceiling (remember when I mentioned cutting corners earlier). Fortunately for me, this was of no concern as I was the last and only client, but I can only imagine how annoying it would be during a packed house to be able to hear the varied sounds of other people shuffling about. Communication, unlike the majority of chinese operated massage parlors (be it the foot variety or other), was above average as everyone seem to speak and comprehend english above the rest. I was ecstatic that i didn't have to use my limited comprehension of mandarin to communicate to the employees. The great part about operations like these is that they don't try and upsell you like the various western culture spas. Upsells put me on the wrong foot right off the bat and I end up thinking about it during the entire session - which ultimately ruins my day, but the chinese guess you know what you want and know that you aren't going to budge. they asked me what I want and delivered in a clean environment. First, as others have said, this place really is a 'you get what you pay for.' And also as others have said, don't bother with the groupons or anything. The massages here are always $35 anyway. This place was.... interesting. I handed my groupon over up front, and surprisingly wasn't accosted to pay a tip in advance. I got led into a room. I think the masseuse gave me all of 20 seconds before knocking on the door and coming in. I laid down on the table and put my face in the donut thing that the massage tables have. Instead of being covered by a soft towel or some sort of other soft covering, it was scratchy paper towel. It was pretty uncomfortable and left my face pretty irritated. Otherwise, the room looked pretty clean, but it was very empty. If you're looking for ambiance with a little decor and aromatherapy going, this definitely is not the place for that. The massage was.... interesting. I don't think I've ever had a massage where they pull the blanket all the way down to your thighs and pull your underwear down and expose your entire butt. It was kind of chilly! I got over it, and actually enjoyed a massage on my gluts after a hard work out the day before, but I did not dig lotion being drizzled down my butt crack!! That was a little weird, for sure! Otherwise, this felt more like a massage my husband would give me (lots of general rubbing up and down and not a lot of technical motions or areas where they concentrate on and know how/where to rub to get a knot out). I wasn't really impressed, but for $35 bucks I guess I could get over it. I gave the lady $10 for tip and I didn't have them say anything to me, so I guess that is the magic number for them. For a one time $35 visit, I'm not that upset and will chalk it up to trying the place and not really liking it. The lady working the front desk was extremely nice, and the masseuse was nice (as far as I could tell, I don't think she spoke much english), but there are better massage places out there, and ones that you can get in the $30-$40 range with a groupon. I've been coming here at least once every 1-2 weeks. I have 2 favorite masseuses (Judy and Helen) there and I always try to get one of them to do my neck and back. I'm always tense there because of my desk job work. The place is kind of a hole in the wall local spot, but it has a nice soothing atmosphere (it smells good and they play spa music on loop). My bf and I have passed out in the middle of our massages on multiple occasions. And for the price, they do a really good job if you want deep tissue ($40/hr + $1 credit card transaction charge if you use a ccard). Since their price is considered "cheap", you probably should tip $10 on a $40 massage. If you tip any less than that, they will ask you for more *lol* with no shame and say something along the lines of, "if you like massage, please tip more?" I get it. read more

Wow this was seriously the best "Asian" massage I've ever had. I got the Groupon during the 20% off local deal plus I use Ebates so I only paid $25 for it! Upon arrival I already knew they were going to up sell the Deep Tissue Massage for an additional $5 but I took it. I just came back from Vegas so I def needed it. This looks like a dinky place, the walls didn't bother me until about 45min into the massage when more people started walking by but the massage was super good. She focused on my shoulders and back and the pressure was on point during every second of the massage. I've gone to places where the masseuse would start to feel tired and just rub oil on me but not her (I think her name was Heidi?) Since I didn't pay much to begin with, and it was a FULL hour, and I enjoyed every moment of it, I tipped her $15. She really deserved it. And for those of you who think $10 is too much, just think about how much you are tipping servers. They are over tipped because of over priced food AND they do way LESS than these masseuse! I found Harmony via Groupon ($35 for a 1 hour Swedish Massage, which is the same as their in-house pricing). We ended up opting for the deep tissue massage which only cost $5 more (+1 star). The location is small and a bit hard to find if you are not familiar with the area - it's located past Golfland, second shopping center heading east. The receptionist was friendly and willing to accommodate my fiancebae and I as walk-ins (+1 star). We settled in the couple's room closest to the front desk. Be mindful when changing in that room as the curtains don't fully cover the windows (-1 star). The overall massage was actually good - they cover the entire body, attend to knots, and eventually wipe off your body with hot towels (+2 stars). I'd seen this place advertised on Craigslist, and after doing a little research decided to try them out. I booked a late afternoon appointment. When I arrived, the lady at the front desk took my info and went over the price list. This place has $35 Swedish, $40 Deep Tissue, and a few other options, including a "walk-on-your-back" massage. I opted for the deep tissue. The rooms look like standard massage rooms, except that the walls don't go all the way up to the ceiling. Not sure why they did them that way; during my massage, I could hear another client one or two rooms over. The massage was fantastic. The masseuse started out doing accupressure on top of the sheet. She then pulled the sheet down to my waist and started the deep tissue massage. This woman had just the right amount of pressure. I have visited here ~10 times in the past 4 years. I've had good experiences most of the time. I choose to go with Amy now, she's my favorite. Like other reviewers said, a 10$ tip is mandatory. I only had 5$ on me the first time and to my embarrassment, I was told it was 10 minimum so I added it on my card. But I came back because it doesn't get cheaper than this and I like getting massages frequently. I'm glad I found Amy, there were a couple of people that were too strong for me. May work well for others. I don't want to end up feeling like I need a second massage to heal the ache from the first one. There is a slight communication gap with some of them. I love massage, cuz it help me get relax~ They have these nice leather chairs that you sit in and relax while the "technician" has their way with your feet and body. Had my first massage here, and I might come back. I purchased a Groupon, but they informed me that their prices are the same, and to just come in or make an appointment. The unit was nice, and almost very clean, the front where their water cooler is located, there are stains, but nothing I would take a star for. The massage itself was very nice. I purchased the Swedish massage but upgraded to a deep tissue massage for $5. I asked Amy to massage a bit harder, and she only went a little harder. I like my deep tissue massages to be DEEP tissue massages, and she was medium. I asked her to work more around my ankles when she got to my feet, and she didn't even touch them. My main reason was to get my feet worked on, and that wasn't done, so that's the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. However, I am very relaxed and enjoyed the massage. My feet still hurt, though. I have driven past Harmony many times when I play golf at SummitPointe and wanted to give them a shot. I finally got the chance this afternoon. Booked a appt for me and wife and requested the couples room. We were running late and I called to let them know I will be 15 mins late, they were pretty cool and moved our appt to 12:15pm. When we arrived, the receptionist explained the different type of massages available. I opted for the Acupressure massage ($45) and my wife picked the swedish massage ($35). We are asked to pay in advance and I told them I will pay for the massage, and add the tip later. We were led to the couples room which is right behind the reception desk. The room was clean and they played typical massage music. We undressed and got under the covers. We got two female masseuses who did not say much to introduce themselves. They got started on the massage without any delay. My Acupressure massage focused on the pressure points in the body in addition to a deep tissue type massage. My masseuse Jenny was able to apply good pressure and seem knowledge about the pressure points and did a very good job. The massage focused on the entire body. I really enjoyed the hot towel massage to get the oil off your body. My wife was also pleased with her swedish massage. She said she may opt for the deep tissues next time. Overall a good experience, a clean place and good skilled masseuse. I paid $105 for the two massages and tip ($25) which is reasonable price. I would have given them a five star if not for them reminding me twice about tipping the masseuse. I don't like when someone has to nag you about tipping. Tipping should be based on service and I am pretty sure most people will leave a tip based on how they feel about the service. read more

Great place for the money! Of all the Asian massage places, my wife and I like this one the best. (She has a German lady at her hair place who is awesome but charges double what Harmony charges.) The therapists at Harmony have been consistently good, though. Most Chinese massage places do the exact same massage, trying to do the entire body in 60 minutes, but what I like best about Harmony is that I can explain to the receptionist exactly what I want done (for instance, neck and back, no legs or arms) and she will have the masseuse do that.
