My sisters are fans of what we call "fob massages". Usually advertised as a "foot massage" but they massage you're entire body, emphasis on the feet that are soaking in warm water. We first discovered these places in socal where they are only $15 for an entire hour of massages. Royal Health Spa is pretty good though, especially in the bay, $20 special for a food massage.. It has been advertised as this grand special for quite awhile. I've been here 3 times and I really think it depends on who you get... I'm sorry I never ask for names... but in my experience the guy that does the massages is better... I had one lady who actually made it painful.. like instead of just massaging my head she was digging her nails in and scratching my head... it really hurt.. she was also chit chatting away with the woman next to me. The man that does massages asked how much pressure I wanted and it was very relaxing. I had just had a hike the day before and definitely needed the relaxation. It is conveniently located next to the gym (which is how we discovered it). The place is very clean and this is a more legit massage than the ones at the mall for a cheap price. We recently brought our mom here for mother's day and upon leaving they gave each of us a boutonniere.. which i thought was very kind. Vision of indecision right here! I literally started the car and circled the parking lot before deciding to give Royal Health Spa's $20 foot massage a shot. I saw the sign after exiting 24 Hr fitness. Can't beat that price! I walk in and the three masseuses are chatting. Don't even think they were conversing in English. Anyway, there were two women and one man...for some reason I got the man. The women spoke English, but the extent of this guy's was "that okay?" But, I had decided to dive in headfirst so I went with it. The chair was a huge recliner - quite comfy actually. I put my feet in a tub and literally got massaged head to toe. Don't be expecting anything specialized for aches or pains, but he was definitely thorough and sometimes slightly painful even through my jacket. I felt pretty relaxed during the massage and some of my aches and pains were lessened by the end. The guy also definitely went over an hour which was surprising! They prefer cash - cue awkward encounter. Guess who never carries around cash but was lucky to have the exact amount? This girl. I ended up tipping in quarters and was really apologetic....at least they seemed entertained.....but I couldn't tell whether they were laughing at me or with me. If you want a specialized, Four Seasonsesque relaxtion, you won't be happy. If you want to feel relaxed and a bit less tight or achey for cheap, this is your place! read more

How to relieve some stress for $20? Come here and get a massage! A good gf of mine called and asked if I wanted to go get a massage with her and we ended up here after looking at some of the reviews. Perfect that its close to us both and priced competitively! Now I have had a previous bad experience elsewhere in the past so I had some trepidation. Luckly everything went rather smooth. They start you off with a hot foot soak while they start massaging your scalp/temples/shoulders. Then they do your feet/legs/arms. Before finishing off with your back. Been here twice so far. My first experience I rate it a 5 and that's what brought me back. Yesterdays massage was on average a 3. So I went in at a random time on Sunday. They only had 3 masseuses and I asked for a lady, but they said they only had a man. Seeing how I drove 10miles just to get a massage I didnt want to waste time not getting it. The lady convinced me the man was good so I went along with it. I had a great full body massage the first time I went. I prefer full body with the lotions and oils because it helps relax me so that's what I asked for. After disrobbing into my chonies I got ready and the man came in and began. He began by applying lotion and rubbing it along my back and arms. He did a lot of rubbing, in the way you would rub sunblock on your girlfriends back at the beach. He did the rubbing for a few mins and I thought "okay I understand. You need to warm up an engine before you can start driving fast". Or so i thought...the rubbing continued for a long time. I was looking for a massage, not rubbing. The majority of the time he was just rubbing my back. That I rate 1 or 2 stars. But there were times when he dug into me with his elbows. That HURT SO GOOD. I really enjoyed that and that's when I rate it a 5. *STRUMMING MY PAIN WITH HIS FINGERS* Well not only his fingers, but his palms, and elbows. He did string me along when I felt like it was a waste of time, but then he would start to dig into me and then I would think. Oh yea this is MONEY! He played with my emotions and took me for a ride. My SO & I were a little skeptical but we had already paid and I'm pretty sure an Asian establishment wouldn't give you your money back. My masseuse and I had a language barrier and he didn't speak English so I didn't understand a thing he was trying to tell me. At other massage parlors, there's relaxing music, minimal talking, and it's usually pretty dimly lit. These workers would not stop talking/gossiping throughout the whole facility, the door was open and the sunlight was distracting and my masseuse and my SO's masseuse were talking loudly in Chinese and chuckling so it was quite distracting. At one point I thought he was mad at me because he was just slapping/punching/pulling at my fingers/thighs/legs. The massage was not relaxing and his fingers smelled like the cigarettes he just smoked. The back massage was decent which I would have given maybe 2.5 stars for but OMG when he was massaging my back he didn't even cover me with a tower and he was my punching my thighs and my SO said my ass was just jiggling everywhere. Can you at least cover me? Also he spent way tooooooo much time by my butt/thigh area like about 20/60 minutes was that and it was just a bunch of punching and slapping. I don't know if he was perverted/lazy/had no technique but it was just so awkward . I would NEVER go back. needless to say, I didn't tip well, no knots were worked on, my neck still has tension and I have no idea what just happened. This Chinese run massage spot is in a nice neighborhood and beats the $19,99 in South San Jose off Tully because it's not all ghetto and scary. I decided to give it a try one day after a long week of work and after working out and came back a happy camper. For the price you pay, it really isn't that bad. As with most typical "foot" massages, they do not strictly concentrate on just your feet. You start off by putting your feet in warm water while the masseuse takes care of your upper body. I'm pretty sure I have plenty of knots everywhere and he did a good job of taking most of it out. I do like how he started with the head and went down (I've been to places where they start at your feet and end at your head... bit dirty?). You basically get the all over massage (fully clothed). There were some points where I was hurting a bit, but like they say... if it doesn't hurt, the knot was probably not taken out. I will definitely come back for a massage after my workouts. read more

I came here on a Sunday evening for a foot massage. When I first entered, the massage therapists were hanging out on the massage chairs. That was okay, but during my massage they were talking to each other and talking on their cell phones. I noticed there was a lot of ambient lighting from a small room next to the main room and from the daylight through the glass doors. The guy that gave me my massage was great and very respectful. He started off with massaging my face, head, neck, and shoulders while my feet were soaking in water. He then massaged my feet lower leg. After that, he flipped me on my belly and massaged my backside. This was an hour long massage all for $20 which is pretty standard at a lot of these massage places. The lighting and noise level could use some improvement, maybe then I would consider coming back. read more

Grace did a great job, she was firm and definitely took care of all the knots in my back. I came in around 8 pm on a Monday and there was a couple other people there also. FINALLY! A foot/body/acupuncture business close to my house, yepi! What's so great about this place is that the 24 hour fitness is two stores down along with Nob Hill! I can grocery shop, workout, and get a massage all in one plaza. I love it, because I also work around here. This spa is having a special promotion of $16.99 for foot massages, regular price is $19.99. The inside of this spa is super clean and elegantly decorated. It is a family owned business. Ms. Wong, the owner's wife is a certified acupuncture doctor, who believes that sanitizing all germs, having clean air, and great Qi in a spa is very important. I can't wait to get my weekly/monthly massages after a good workout at the gym (now I just have to get my butt off the chair and go! hehe). This place just opened recently. This place is new and has very nice decor! I got the foot massage - but don't let the name mislead you (because it did for me) you get the full package without having to go naked. =) You get a massage all over the body, and i do mean all over .. even your gluteal maximus gets some loving~! The man that did my massage was awesome! He wasn't afraid to punch the krap out of my back and get rid of all my knots (i have tons...) Even took extra precautions because i sprained a shoulder ligament. If it doesn't hurt, it won't get rid of all your tinks! I desperately needed a massage last Monday and found this place on Yelp while driving through Milpitas. I usually prefer full body massages and they had that here for $40, with the usual foot spa massage for $20, which I have also had many times at other places. So I knew what to expect. The body massages were done in the back room as I expected. My massage therapist was a nice lady, and she was OK. Massage was OK, not great, but not bad. I may go back again when I'm in the area, but I also like trying out other places too, and writing more Yelp reviews. I've been here numerous times because of the close proximity to the gym. It's right next door to 24 hour fitness. You can't beat the price! for both the foot and full body. I tend to favor the full body. Although it's a bit noisy because of the open floor layout. Two of favorites therapists are Ana and Blue. Blue for working out the knots in my back and Ana for a more relaxing massage. So it depends what I'm in the mood for and who's available. read more

There are some thing that completely turn me off from getting a foot reflexology massage, including: - rubbing my face so hard, I come out with pimples and sagging skin - fingers in my ears - squeezing and pulling on my fingers and toes until it feels like the tips are gonna pop off and blood will explode everywhere - dragging across my metacarpals/metatarsals. that just feels wrong. Perhaps their foot massages are not as traditional or maybe they have "westernized" their practice, but I am happy to have not experienced any of the uncomfortable tactics listed above! There are 2 other people in the store but both had no idea about our appointment, and refused to contact her. I had to call her and she claimed that it's normal that either she or the customer to be late. She also argued that she informed other ppl in the store she'd be late (then why don't call me upfront?) and we are lying about the situation (seriously, seriously??) I'm a Happy Feet regular (Cupertino) for many years. We moved to Milpitas recently and I just have been getting tired of the trek to Cupertino every time I want a massage. So I yelped and yelped until I found this one that I might be able to take the risk on. I called and made an appointment last minute and I got in. Other Yelpers complained that this place was noisy, but I didn't find that to be the case. As I was getting situated, people were talking around me, but after the massage started, everybody quieted down. It was actually a very good experience--the soaking water could be hotter, but now that's getting picky. Good enough for me to come back regularly. I liked the masseuse and I'll request him again. I came here for a full body massage and came out feeling so much better. The masseuse used a lot of pressure on me because I have a lot of knots around my back, shoulders and neck areas. I loved that she was not too gentle on me since I really needed the extra pressure to relieve my deep muscle pains. Overall I would recommend this place if you are looking for a real deep tissue massage. If you are not used to deep tissue massages, you may find the experience uncomfortable and painful. read more

I ran a marathon yesterday and am stiff as a board hence the massage trip. This was my first time at a foot massage place, so I guess when I went for a 60 minute foot massage, I expected 60 minutes of them massaging my feet. It was actually 15 minutes of him massing my face/head, 10 mins of arms, 30 mins of foot massage and 10 minutes of a back massage. I had a male massues which was most likely the root of the problem. I was pretty uncomfortable the whole time he massaged anything but my feet. I'd give him a 5 for the foot massage and a 2 for the rest of the body, though he was really nice so I'm partially conflicted. Anyway, I haven't had a lot of massages in my lifetime, so take my experience with a grain of salt. Most other people loved this place. read more

In town for soccer tournament & found by accident. Lady at front desk was very nice, knowledgeable & we liked that we could understand her English. We went for the advertised $20 1 hr foot massage that included the whole body with your clothes on. Place is clean, well decorated and smelled nice. There is some noise because of open layout, but not too much. I got a young man & it was okay for me My guy was a smoker. He washed his hands but I could still smell it on his hands & his breath. Let's just say that took away from the experience. I didn't feel that he took any of my knots out, but it was relaxing & nice to be pampered for an hour. I've had one other massage at a place with this concept in Modesto & they popped my ear when they pressed their palm against it. It hurt for days. This place didn't do that, but compared to a massage at an actual spa, I prefer spas. I realize the price is higher, but I've found specials and packages. Great place for massage , acupuncture and cupping treatment.., this was may fifth visit after a soccer injury to my lower back and I really see results and like this place after visiting 2-3 others.. Had it been before my soccer injury I would have never visited such a place. I would specifically praise this masseuse named "KOKO" she is good at what she does a great professional masseuse I would say. CONS: Well every place has its cons and the only con I would say is that the masseuses have very little English spoken skills.. Well if you were a Chinese no prob at all.... But at times when it might be hurting I wished I would be able to mention that do it this way and not that way and wished they understood right away...Well my masseuse "KOKO" does respond to me in every way possible even with the English limitation and I could never blame her as she landed here just six month back. I was greeted by the owner Larry very cordially and asked for a 1 hour body massage. Although he is very friendly and nice the massage was the worst I have ever had and I've had alot. The massause was a Chinese woman who spoke no english, which by the way isn't usually a problem. She must of never massage in her life as her attempts were barely light touching. She spent half the time rubbing my back and ass lightly. I was wondering when the real massage was going to happen. She then wipes me with a single warm towel that got cold quickly and she continued to wipe me with it making me very very cold, and she left me uncovered with goosebumps all over my body from the cold. there are no solid walls in the place as you can hear the owner and someone else talking on their cell phone and other noises in the office. After I flipped over the light touching and rubbing continued and no real massage ever was done. It was very amateur-like and I could tell she was not a real massause. Suddenly she says, "Finish, Okay." and leaves. She returns with a styro cup of water and I drink it and hand it back to her and she says, "No tip?" This was the worst $40.00 spent ever on a masssage. I was really hoping this place would be good bc I love foot spas and this one is so close. I'll try to be fair since the owner seemed nice. Pros: clean bathroom Front desk people friendly enough, smiled, etc They took me right away, no wait, which is awesome They take credit cards which is rare They didnt have a recommended tip policy where they explicitly tell you how much you should tip. I usually give a 8-12 buck tip anyway but it just makes you happier when you are choosing vs someone is telling you. Easy parking Cons: -the venue felt like i was at my grandmas house. Old, cramped, cluttered looking space. The decor looked like stuff you would find at a garage sale. Now I'm all about my grandmas house -- I love being there, clutter and all, but i would just not want to get a massage there. -unprofessional culture. Most places i go, people understand that its supposed to be quiet. There were three or two masseuses who were not working on anyone so they thought they would use the time to catch up i guess. They talked nonstop the whole entire massage. Plus you can hear everything going on at the front desk, appointments being made, calls being made to their families, etc. -masseuse. I never realized this until this place but most other places have uniforms. My masseuse, granted I did not expect her to be in a ball gown or anything, but she didn't look the most hygienic which didnt set thet best tone. Her massage was also sub par. First of all she was very slow. Not therapeutic slow, but lazy slow. Those of us who get massages a lot know what i mean. I had to ask her like 3 or 4 times to please apply some pressure because it seemed like she was just applying lotion, not giving a massage. -the water tasted pretty disgusting Now I know this is a 20 buck massage and i seem pretty hard on them. I promise you, i am aware this is not Burke williams. But they are just not competitive w all the millions of other foot spas that are popping up everywhere and you would think they would at least out more effort into making their business thrive because i think it has great potential w the location. you get what you pay for. I tried their $19.99 1-hour foot massage. You cannot compare this place's massage technique to a spa with staff that are properly trained. I had a series of 'pay for 10, get 12' messages from another foot massage place around the corner and i was fairly happy with their ability to work out my aches and pains, but the place is noisy (with TV on full blast), bright, and a bunch of Chinese having loud conversations (sometimes smoking right by the door). Royal spa in contrast had dimmed lighting and no loud TV or radio blasting. The man who gave me the massage did nothing to get my aches and pains out. His technique was like getting lotion rubbed on my body... almost irritating. When I asked him to be more firm, he was very hard and did not know the first thing about muscles and joints, much less pressure points. I left the place very unsatisfied... I created a yelp account just to review this place. It is absolutely the worst massage place ever. We paid for the $19.99 1 hr foot massage but most of the time they are just wandering around gathering supplies. Yet, they can't even do that for a full hour. The so-called massage lasted for about fifty minutes. When they did massage, there was no technique involved. It was more like rubbing and patting you all over.
