The crowd was light, as it was a Thursday night. Keys and a sax started in shortly after we arrived. Seating was thus plentiful and comfortable, The drinks were en pointe. Tasty and well-mixed. Everyone seemed pleased. When conversation became tough, with the musicians performing well, we stepped outside to enjoy the spring air. Basking outside at night was delightful. My friend and I came here for the first time early on a Saturday night. We thought that the decor and atmosphere was really cute! I love the brick as well as how they have shelves of games you can play with a friend or in a group! They had great music playing and the bartender let us know politely that there wasn't table service when we had sat at a table by the bar for a while. I got the Rocket Man cocktail which was really good! Super fruity and sweet and flavorful! It felt like a drink you'd have sitting on the beach. A really great summer cocktail. My friend really loved her espresso martini that she got! I love how they have the QR codes on the coasters! I would definitely come back here with my friend again or a group to play more games! All are welcome at The Tavern! Off of 10th Street and in the southern fringes of the Old Market, this gem's focus is gin (a gin gem if you will). The cocktail menu changes occasionally to keep things interesting. There are other libations available too as well as mocktails. A few beers are also available; on tap as well as in cans or bottles. I've visited The Tavern twice now, most recently this past weekend. Each visit, the bartenders have been great and super friendly. If you want a fun bar that makes great drinks, definitely check this place out! The bar is located in a cool old building right in Old Market along 10th Street. They have a great specialty drink list on the wall, which seems to change periodically. I've always enjoyed the drinks I've ordered. In addition to their mixed drinks, they also have beers on tap if that's more your thing. The Tavern can be busy, especially on Saturday nights, though has plenty of tables, bar seating, and taller tables to stand at. Other nights are quieter, which are perfect for enjoying the board and card games they have with friends! Periodically they also have events, which are a lot of fun. I recently went to a Halloween themed party, which had a small cover, though included cute party favors like witches hats and fun glasses! They also had a DJ which was a lot of fun. Order a beer, you need to scan a QR Code at your table, then use your phone to search the menu, go to drinks, then scroll to beer, then scroll the beers that are not in any order, then you have to register, that is your name, your address (complete address all on one line with no symbols, then your zip code, , your phone number, then your credit card number, then exp date, then secure code. Even after doing all that 1/3 of our party could not get the app to work. When you want another beer...You have to reenter all your information again!!! WTF worst app ever. Visiting my brother from San Diego, CA. Told me this bar was his favorite spot so he brought me here. Really disappointed in the customer service by this girl in pic. Sat down in front of her to order a drink (the bar was not busy). She helped an African American lady with a red coat that was next to us first. After helping her I figured "okay cool we next" NOPE! She skipped us and helped the next mother fucker. Keep in mind the bar is not busy!! Then she comes back again to our side , we are still sitting on the same spot with card out in her face, and she SKIPPED us again! Not sure wtf was her deal but she kept doing that for 25 min until I had to walk out before I popped off on her. Something my brother did not want me to do. Finally she decides to start a conversation with my brothers friend once she sees us leaving, again everything about her was very disrespectful to me and that type of attitude is considered rude on the west coast so I was not having it. I must say this is never my first choice when going out. But I wont object if I must go. I try to stay away from crowded bars full of drunk frat boy types and stupid bachelorette parties. If I find myself downtown on a Friday or Saturday night not sure of where to go.. 75% of the time I can avoid those two groups by visiting OMT. It's usually crowded, loud, feisty (aka bro-ish, meat market) and though the bartender is super friendly and good at what he does, I'm not the type that is impressed by "Flare" bar-tending. At least, not when it's my drink I'm waiting on. Just make the drink already! I'll still tip just as well if you skip the act so I can start working on my buzz. With that said, I do enjoy their selection of beer and spirits. Their prices are great, and any place with a patio is fantastic. read more

Great karaoke on Monday and the bartender was a hot singer too. I'm a roadie and always on the lookout for karaoke. We drank them out of Casamigos Anjeo but they had enough Reposado to get us through. Apparently Omaha kj's are not familiar with getting tips. Alway tip your KJ they're the ones that make you sound good. read more

I checked this place out for the first time on Thursday when I was in Old Market. I'm so glad my friend and I stopped here. The bartender was extremely friendly and really quick to get us some drinks. I ordered a Banana Bread Beer from Wells, which was absolutely delicious and tasted just like it sounds. It definitely did not disappoint. The place was nice and quiet on a Thursday afternoon. We enjoyed our beers and played some darts in the corner, which was fun. This neighborhood bar should be getting 5 or 4 stars if it wasn't just for a few minor bartending issues. Pro's- Their Moscow Mules are probably the best in town. The atmosphere and crowd in the bar are always fun and attractive. Bartenders are fun people who usually do a great job on the drinks. Con's - Lose a BIG star for their ethics when it comes to tips from the credit or debit cards. I would advise to bring and pay with cash. Every time I go here, whatever tip i give (usually 15 to 20%) always seems to be $2-$3 higher when it goes through my bank. They must just think I's drinking so I wont remember what I tipped. Hope this immoral practice does not continue and I can keep enjoying the Tavern. read more

The bar staff is always friendly and efficient. During the cold months they have apple cider and mulled wine which is super cool. It makes the bar smell like a Yankee Candle Store. Sometime earlier this year, The Tavern was renovated. They did away with the divided bar area and now there is a gigantic open space. Personally, I like this layout a lot better. The dartboard now lies where the entrance to the men's bathroom used to be and the men's bathroom now lies closer to the women's bathroom in a hallway to the left. The earlier problem of a bathroom door opening and wafting bathroom odor has now been solved! It also tends to be less crowded than some of the other bars frequented by the college kids like Billy Frogg's, O'Connor's, and the Dubliner. I don't know about you but I like being able to get a drink without having to wait for 20 minutes. The Tavern has gone from feeling like a college town dive bar to something better. It's worth checking out in my opinion. read more
