I just experienced the worst food and service in my life I was so hungry but couldn't eat it was disgusting not the harolds I remember even the seasons fries were disgusting , in cluding the fry souce yuck! We thought the expensive burgers would at least come with frys , 2 burgers one fry and two bottled lemonades 30 bucks . Never again will I eat here . Wow! I loved this place. When I was little my parents would take us there for our special dinner. I was excited all day to go and get a meal from there. Much to my dismay it was horrible! The onion rings were soft and gooey. The sauce was not the right sauce we ordered. The burgers were dry and disgusting. They gave my shake to someone else and then retrieved it and was going to give it to me! Gross.. They made me a new one that took forever. After all of this there was the cost! Good little, local, neighborhood burger shop off the main roads. Some of the best fries I have had in a long, long time. Fresh cut, crispy. Some were longer than the burger. I honestly can't remember the last time I had fries that didn't look like they came from the bottom of a bag lately. Sweet potato fries were crispy and great too. The burger was good but not great. Good toppings, melt cheese, fresh veggies. The bad was the bun could have been toasted more, the bacon was on the thick, hard side and the meat of the patties was a bit stringy but cooked well. The fry sauce was on the more mayonnaise side with a tangy Dijon Mustard like quality. The service was great and prompt. They were super nice. The place is clean and neat. Outdoor picnic table only and that is fine for a burger joint. Ordered for pick up via DoorDash. Will be back, but the partner was unimpressed. Giving a 4 because the burger quality could have been better but definitely fixable. I hope to give them a 5 in the future though. read more

After receiving subpar customer service from the owner after simply asking for extra fries, she refused to fulfill the order. We compromised and decided to move forward with our order which consisted of a Harold's original, a basket of chicken strips and fries and a "large" coke. Not too difficult and shouldn't cost more than 30$. After the owner treated her new employee like he was incompetent, when all he asked was question about the order customization on the their computer regarding extra fries and she blatantly stated that " there are no extra fries". After receiving the food, it consisted of a medium soda which was a mix of diet and regular coke a handful of fries and 3 chicken strips with and anemic burger, for 34$ after tip, we were quite disappointed. read more

Harold's re-opened this year after some renovations, and my husband and I were excited to try the place out. While there are quite a few decent places in the area for burgers, new options are always a plus. My husband drove out to pick-up food, and if we'd lived closer I'd have returned the food immediately. It was bad. He said there were 3 people in front of him and he waited over 30 minutes for his order. He's guessing they made the milkshake way too early (as in when he first ordered), because it was basically chocolate soup when the order was ready. Then, when he got the food home it was evident that whomever made the french fries doesn't understand when to take them out of the fryer - they were still white, limp and ice cold. The burgers were sad, bland and actually burnt. They had a measly little piece of iceberg lettuce, cheese and what tasted like only mayo. It was the most thoughtless burger you could possibly get, and I can't believe they charge $4.69 (plus $0.60 for cheese) for it!!! This place wasn't worth it at all! It made me appreciate the burgers at Burgerville, which isn't saying much. I have no plans to go back, and cannot recommend anyone try it unless Harold's makes some huge changes. read more

We were traveling from Seattle to Portland and usually stop in Centralia for something to eat. So we looked at several menu options, and for some reason decided to go to Harold's Burgers. I think it was the name! So we set navigation and found it off the beaten path. Cute little place. Older lady and younger lady there to help us. We sat in the car and checked out the menu. Husband got a burger and fries and small root beer shake. Wife got an order of fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were perfect. The coating on the outside was really flavorful and the inside was hot and juicy. A nice size portion for $4.50. The fries were also really good. The burger was excellent with fresh lettuce and tomato. No cheese please since it's only American cheese. One burger comes with Swiss, another with Gouda. I think a good option would be to offer cheddar on their burgers, a little step up from American cheese. We definitely recommend Harold's Burger. The 2 ladies were super friendly and yet professional when it came to getting the food prepared and out to our car. We will stop here every time we pass this way! read more

GPS was telling me to drive through people's yards, there was a viaduct in the way of where it seemed like it was, and any number of other Centralian obstacles. This was all remedied by a call to the place that was helpful in guiding me to the humble burger joint. Parked and walked up to place an order. The staff confirmed I was the lost person and continued to be friendly as I made sure my potential order contained zero ketchup. While conversing I noticed the man at the grill plunking down frozen puck after frozen puck to the grill. Certainly not a good sign, but I still had hope. The order came out quick enough, but due to rain and cold my vehicle functioned as the dining area. Most of the burger was crafted perfectly: lightly toasted bun, ideal proportions of all condiments involved, fresh veggies, and a good sauce. The frozen puck factor was what came back to haunt the sandwich though. The meat was boring throughout, extra dry, and even hard / chewy in spots. The crinkle cut fries were great and the tarter sauce was also delicious. The fry sauce tasted too much like ketchup and was discarded immediately. It should also be noted that whoever Harold is, he must adore fries. A small was bigger than the large at many places. Other things worth noting from the other order in the car was that this place has some fabulous bacon and some disgusting tots. Stale as can be and not worth a second bite. 2/5 read more

My husband & I visit family in Centralia regularly & have never been tempted to stop in based on how this place looks. Well we read the yelp reviews and decided to give it a try! We shared the deluxe burger which was plenty for 2 people and we loved it!!! A little history on the place...This place opened 65 years ago & the current owner has had it now for 28yrs. I guess the street it is on, Gold St. was the old HWY 99 so this place was hoppin back in the 50's before I-5. Good: -Burgers, love the pickles, chopped onions/lettuce & seasoned meat! -Service is friendly..not incredibly fast but that's because they only cook to order which is great! -Price! It is more than some burger joints but its totally worth it!!! Bad -Wasn't a fan of the fry sauce Just OK -No indoor dining...not a deal breaker for most just wanting an order to go. May even be a plus if you're out with your dog & want to sit at the picnic tables to eat. read more

It's as good as it gets for burgers and that is what it is. It's a drive up burger bar, nothing more. They do have other items such as foot long hot dogs and I'm sure many other items. I go there for the burgers and the Husky Burger in particular. I have to admit, I have been going there for about 40 years now. They know me by name even though I don't show up but every couple months. The grill has a certain season to it that carries over to the burgers that make them just wonderful. Everyone I have sent here has agreed this is the best burger they have had. On price as one person mentioned; it is a bit more than some other places would be. Expect to pay two or three dollars more than something comparable at another place. And yes, you do eat in your car or if the weather is nice they have picnic covered tables available. I really wish I could rate Harold's better. It's been open in the same place for years--a neighborhood staple. My mom worked there, I think. Stopped by because was intrigued by the reviews left for this burger place, I have driven by and seen the sign from a little overpass here in Centralia. Total mom and pops burger shack, a little pricey at first observation. Average wait which is acceptable since everything was fresh... bit into the burger and the grilled onions had some skin still on it which to me is totally awesome because I know the cook spent time hand chopping the produce. The burger was very juicy, enough to regret eating parked in my car, however so tasty. Definitely a great tasting burger, worth the price and repeat visit when you got that hankering for a real handmade burger. Harold's is the same place, and turning out the same good stuff ever since the old guy opened the place. The kids are running it now, and staying true to Harold's philosophy. If I'm passing through town and have a few spare minutes, it is the place to stop. In the late 60's through mid-70's a number of the drive-in places in town had problems with food-borne illnesses. Never, ever, at Harold's. Yeah, you pay for what you get, but they always had high standards for what went into it. Don't expect figure-friendly food; but expect to have a burger and fries made the way they used to be made. Close your eyes and just hear the snarl of hot-rod engines. It's tough to find anymore (because the main streets have changed), but still worth it. read more

I was disappointed in this place. I just moved to town and was debating eating here or Burgerville. Decided to try something new. I ordered a deluxe burger, medium onion rings, and a small shake. First, they only toasted the top bun so the bottom bun was soggy and completely fell apart when I tried to eat it. It tasted ok. The worst part were the soggy onion rings... there were 6 very small rings that were obviously just frozen... for over $3 they should be homemade or at least better quality. The shake was good. But at over $16 for the meal it was definitely not worth it. Next time a burger craving hits I'll be going elsewhere. read more
