Brought my daughter here for a Valentine's Day dinner on a last-minute reservation, and I'm really glad we pulled it off. The space alone is worth the visit -- beautiful interior, the kind of place that feels special without trying too hard. We went full small plates mode and shared four dishes: burrata with leek, walnut, and sourdough (a classic done right), chicken dumplings with basil, jalapeño, and lemon (bright, a little heat, very good), grilled octopus with tomatillo, chili, and lime (tender, well-balanced, my personal favorite of the night), and a margherita pizza that was simple and exactly what it needed to be. The whole spread worked really well together. I had a Maker's Mark Manhattan that was, frankly, fabulous. No notes. Service was a bit slow -- we sat with empty water glasses more than once -- but it was Valentine's Day and the place was packed. I'm not going to pile on servers for having a brutal night. They were warm and clearly doing their best under the circumstances. Would absolutely come back. Harp & Crown is the kind of dinner spot that makes you want to plan a return trip to the city just to eat there again.

Really liked this place. Very cool atmosphere. Witt was great and made a mean Chicken Cock rye old fashioned. Loved the Sansom soda. The salmon ceviche (happy hour) was excellent. We also bowled downstairs at the two lane alley in the speakeasy.

    Cute and cozy atmosphere.

First stop on my day trip to Philly was at Harp & Crown for brunch. Located in downtown Philly, Harp & Crown is cozy and inviting and provides dope atmosphere. As for the food, there was everything you could possibly want for brunch. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, potatoes, a carving station with prime rib (which I heard was delicious) and made to order omelets to name a few. The service was great and I hate that I can't remember our servers name because she was an absolute sweetheart. She made sure to check on us often and she and the staff were quick to clear plates when we were done. All in all I definitely enjoyed my time at Harp & Crown and will be back to try out some of their other menu items.

Post dinner cocktails here were great. Got the espresso martinis and they tasted great; definitely on the sweeter side. I couldn't tell if the drink was weak or if the sweetness masked the vodka!

Harp & Crown is a stunning restaurant in downtown Philly - seriously, the vibes here are incredible! They have a very diverse menu, which I appreciate as a vegetarian. Their drink menu seems to change often, and this time we tried the Spritz, with vodka instead of gin. Please be advised: we were informed that they are a "straw-free" facility, which is a bit annoying - when it comes to certain drinks, straws are necessary. So bring your own or be prepared to walk next door from the deli and grab one! We tried a variety of items: The good: Fig Ricotta toast (my fave of the evening); Mushroom Truffle Pizza; and the Sweet Potato (addicting!) The ok: Mac & Cheese - just could've used a bit more flavor/salt The blah: Brussels (sauce was too acidic and not well balanced); Roasted Beets; Eggplant Overall, I definitely had higher expectations for all the incredible reviews I read, but our meal was not bad per se.

Make a reservation! So welcoming! We sat in the front/ garden room. Our server was Bryan . My first time here & Bryan helped us learn the brunch protocol. So friendly and kind. I went to the omelette man and ordered a mushroom spinach omelette. It was divine. By bff got the bacon onion tomato omelette. So delicious. There were so many options! And I loved my glass of Jamaica. So fresh and delicious!! So many food offerings!! So tempting! The decor retro chic but in an ultra comfy way. Adorable retro seating and antique photos. We also visited the downstairs indoor bowling alley/speak easy. How cool in that!!! I look forward to coming back.

The vibes here are great, it's always so clean and nice and beautiful. Best place for happy hour they have great food items (def their pizza and ricotta dip) and I always take the house red. But their gin cocktail is delightful as well. Going here many years always a staple because the service is perfect every time! One thing I would mention is their dinner options are limited for vegetarian folks like myself otherwise would get 5 stars.

Food is great- their Mac and cheese is one of my favorites. Happy hour is a really good deal, but it does get pretty crowded. Their nachos used breakfast buffet is an amazing deal with quality food

A great bar with a great atmosphere! The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and the food and drinks make it worth going back again. If you're close to it, I'd recommend stopping in!

Went here last week for pre-birthday drinks and dinner for my boyfriend. We really liked the drinks and vibe here the last time we came here some months ago, and felt the same way this time. The dim lighting at night gives it a more lounge, sexy/romantic feel. We sta at the bar like last time. Our bartender was cool, super friendly and made the drinks really really well. We got a few drinks and some apps to share. The Garlic Prawns were good size and tasted very fresh. I don't eat pork but took a bite of the ribs and it was pretty tasty. Also enjoyed the chicken wings. But the stars were the drinks. So we'll made, great balance so there isn't an overpowering taste of liquor but they were definitely strong! We will for sure be back to try more dishes, drinks and hopefully brunch.

Cool vibe...the ambiance was cool. It gave me the vibe of being in a hunted Manson (as you go downstairs) to the bowling alley. Now how cool is that. Downstairs was more chill and quit. What restaurant has bowling alley (not many)! Upstairs it was loud (Friday night). The ambiance was nice. I had just missed happy hour by 4 minutes. Good thing I did unless I would have not tried the Japanese sweet potato . That was so good. It was different. It was roasted with a crispy bottom. My friend and I had the drink called The Cure (scotch base) ginger-honey, smoked tea, and lemon. Now that drink was smooth.

Nestled at the midpoint of the many restaurants on 15th and Sansom sits Harp and Crown, a Schulson collective spot with a cheap, affordable happy hour that lasts everyday. I visited in a party of three for their small bites and wine which didn't disappoint. To preface, the entry is a bit confusing. I walked right past it, despite the signage above from sidewalk view, because its double doors blended in with the curtains and foliage. It's easy to view inside looking out... but a bit harder the other way around. I was sat in the outdoor entry space, which provided a lot of natural lighting but also made us privy to the frequent movement from other customers and their staff. While we didn't sit inside, it looked to be much darker as other reviewers have noted. Harp and Crown also offers a downstairs bowling alley that you can rent, perfect for parties and reserved fun. As for the food, each of our bites were delicious. My favorite goes to the specialty pizza they had on offer (which rotates by the day), but applause goes to the mac and cheese and lamb meatballs too. I think that five dishes are enough if you're also in a party of three. The atmosphere brings a great time, and also speaks to the accessible quality that is a Schulson-owned brand.

Ask the Community - Harp & Crown

Do y'all offer Gluten-free options for brunch?

How do you reserve the downstairs area? What is the cost? I know the price of the lanes but wanted to inquire about lanes area and the small space next to it (to the right of the bar).

It depends if you want the entire space or just the half lane rental. I booked it pre-pandemic so I'm sure pricing has changed. I reached out via their website and the events staff got back to me quickly!

Is Happy Hour available in the outdoor seating area?

    Yes!

For the Chef's Tasting Menu, does each person get to choose their own 8 selections or do they share choosing the 8 selections if they're with another person?

You select as a table and it's portioned for the number of people in your group!

Is there heating in the outside seating area?

    Yes!

    When are their happy hours?

Most Schulson restaurants have happy hour from 4-7 everyday! I would call to confirm.

Hi : can anyone tell me what time the Happy Hour is on Friday's and is the HH menu available throughout the restaurant? Thx

    HH only at bar.

Do they have high chair or boaster seats for toddlers?

    They do.

What are the happy hour days and times?

Hi Jen. Our happy hour is daily from 4-7 PM. Have a good day!

How much is the Saturday brunch?

Hi Kathleen. Our brunch is $28/person and does not include tax, gratuity or beverages. I hope this answers your question.

Is the menu the same for the Saturday and Sunday Brunch BUFFET served?

Our brunch buffet is served on Saturday and Sunday.

How does bowling work here? Can you reserve ahead of time or you have to just take your chances and wait?

    Reservation ahead of time.

Does anyone know the prices of bowling?

    100/ hr, up to 8ppl!

I've walked by here many times, but yesterday was my first time actually going in. I visited with a fellow Yelp Elite and one of her co-workers for Happy Hour. We were seated at a table near the bar and our server, who was also at the host podium, was Dontay. He was the kindest and sweetest man. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We each opted to get one drink and no food. If you want to get the wind knocked out of you after one drink, this is your spot. The drinks were STRONG. I ordered the Market Street Muse and I could barely taste the limoncello. The vodka and basil were the most prominent flavors. I was feeling good. I'm rating this establishment four stars because the drinks on The Philadelphia Cocktail Trail were essentially existing drinks they had on their current menu but with different names. Same ingredients. I was hoping to see something new or related to America's 250th. Overall, though, the space was very calm and clean and I enjoyed being there. All the menu items sounded great, too. I'm not sure why I waited so long to try the chicken at Bud and Marilyn's, but better late than never! They serve a LARGE 1/2 chicken. I started with the thigh. I was smitten by the first bite. I was told the chicken is soaked in a buttermilk brine for 24-48 hours - dipped in a buttermilk dredge - covered with their 'secret recipe' seasoned flour - and fried in a 'pressure fryer' that cooks the chicken in 12 minutes. It was perfectly fried - so crispy - the texture and seasoning of the exterior coating was incredible. The chicken was tender and juicy - the thigh was the juiciest - I didn't get to try the drumstick as I was too full! I had the thigh and 1/2 the breast. The breast is my favorite and I savored each large delicious piece I broke apart. It's important to pick up the chicken and eat it by hand - I did cut mine in half for a picture - but didn't use a fork to eat it - you lose the 'panache'of the meal. I didn't use the hot sauce served with the chicken - I brought my own bottle of honey and poured it over the chicken and biscuits. It was heavenly! Which brings me to the Biscuits! The dish comes with 2 large fluffy buttermilk biscuits - they were golden brown on the outside and tender and fluffy on the inside! They had such a rich, buttery flavor. I took several pieces of chicken and layered them on pieces of biscuit, drizzled with honey! It was truly a 5 star fried chicken and biscuit dinner!

Unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience I've had. We had a 7 PM reservation and arrived at 7:15 PM. I acknowledge that we were late and apologized to the host. However, we arrived within the stated grace period. When we checked in, the hostess explained that because we arrived later within the grace period, our 90-minute seating window would still end based on the original reservation time. We acknowledged that and had absolutely no issue with it. What made the experience uncomfortable was how aggressively we were reminded about the time throughout the entire meal. We were reminded at least 5-6 separate times how much time we had left. Comments like "just so you know you have 25 minutes left" and "our next party is coming in 5-10 minutes" made it feel like staff was actively trying to rush us out before our reservation time had even ended. Mind you, we already understood the policy. One reminder would have been enough. Instead, it completely changed the energy of the evening and made us feel unwelcome and pressured to leave. We had originally planned to stay through our reservation and then move to the bar for the live music afterward, but after being repeatedly rushed, we decided to leave entirely and spend the rest of the night elsewhere. The most disappointing part was the interaction with the manager, Eric. Rather than listening or showing any understanding, he immediately became defensive and aggressive. He repeatedly insisted we were "15-20 minutes late," which was simply not true -- we arrived during the stated grace period. The issue was never the policy itself. It was the way we were treated throughout the night. It's unfortunate because this has genuinely been one of my favorite spots in Philly, and I've recommended it to multiple people. But this experience left a really bad impression, especially when bringing guests from out of town.

There are many tables, making it good for groups, but the interior is pretty bare. The wall is adorned with whimsical fox and chicken imagery, referencing the Hatch and Coop name. As of 05/2025, they supposedly offer 10% off your order by showing your SEPTA card. But, I'd confirm this offer before ordering to ensure it's honored. When I was there in the early morning, the cook (who also takes orders) didn't recognize the deal and didn't know how to punch it in. So, it was a bit of a letdown we couldn't redeem the deal, but we still wanted to try the sandwiches after hearing great things about them. I ordered The Hatch and Coop Sandwich (egg, cheese, chicken) on a round roll at the kiosk. You can customize your bread, egg (fried or scrambled), and cheese (provolone, american, or cheddar). The sandwiches come without any sauce unless you order sauce (extra $$) on the side. I highly recommend the Hatch Sauce- a typical mayo sauce with a little spice. I found The Hatch and Coop Sandwich to be just pretty good but I wish it had more heft to it. The chicken was juicy and well cooked, but I wish there was more. The cheese did the cheesing and coated the chicken, but the sandwich had far too many onions for my liking. With the Hatch Sauce, I felt the sandwich was tied together but it was a little odd to me the sandwich doesn't have sauce on its own. I'm giving Hatch and Coop the benefit of the doubt since it was so early in the morning, but I found my sandwich to be just OK. However, I will be back to try the fried chicken sandwiches, which I've heard rave reviews for.

With small bite presentations such as this, I firmly believe that each bite needs to taste like a flavor bomb in my mouth.
