Went here to watch the game and I must say it's a vibe here. Our bartender was nice and helped me pick a sweet cocktail. I got the You're My Boy Blue and my friend got the Fiddle Head from the tap. We were away from the TV that was playing the game we wanted to watch- the Owner (I think was the owner) was very nice and switched the game on the TV close to us. Very thoughtful and accommodating staff! I didn't grab any food since I had another reservation after but whatever they were cooking in the kitchen smelled so good that I was tempted to order something. read more

Last night was my 40th birthday and our original dinner spot didn't have room for us in the end. The weather was nice so lots of people were out around Rittenhouse Square, and we felt SOL for dinner plans. On a whim, I called Butcher Bar and told them I know it's last minute on a Saturday night, but could they accommodate 9 people. They told me if we were there in 30 minutes they could make it work, so we rushed over. We sat at the bar for drinks as they cleaned up a table. They overheard us talking about how The Trough would be nice (feeds 8 for $300, but was more than enough for us 9), and said if we wanted that they could get it started as the table was prepared. We said yes, and were sat a few minutes later with drinks in hand. Jenna (Gema? She had grape earrings) was a fantastic server and just so kind and attentive. She kept the drinks flowing and The Trough arrived sooner than I expected and was everything I wanted for dinner and more. I can't thank Butcher Bar enough for saving the night for my 40th and just providing a fantastic experience. We'll be back, and we promise to give more notice next time! :) read more

Great spot for pretty much anything. Brunch is glorious and you can smell the kitchen's aroma when you open the door. I'm a little old school and go to a bartender, rather than the bar. This place has got one of the nicest and most attentive staff in the city. Definitely one of my favorite spots in town. Cant go wrong here. read more

Not worth the price or hype. Came here on reservations for a pre Valentine's Day dinner while i was working a dif store. The menu is completely different than what's online. Started w butcher board and bone marrow. Butcher board was over spiced over priced. And the cheese was a little cube. The board barely fit on the table because they were so small. The guy next to us went to bathroom and wouldn't go back to his side cause of how tight it was. The pasta special was supposed to have meat in it but it was just chunks of fat. The rib eye has a set price on online menu. But when you get in it's MP and that mp was 75 dollars. I had a fifty dollar cheaper and better tasting steak at outback don't name yourself butcher if you can't even cook medium rare i was chewing for days the o ion rings were burnt oil and clumped together. The best thing was the Gouda Mac and it was watery. The service was pretty good. But everything else isn't worth it. Plus the driving and parking g is ridiculous. NO parking there you have to park and spend an extra 20 to 80 to park. I said we woulda had a better meal at Cracker Barrel 230 bucks. Oh and the dessert menu is nothing. The chocolate chip pancakes for their brunch are the reason we tried this place. Let me tell you, my fiancé loved them, and he is picky about his pancakes/breakfast. He rated them a 9.5/10. For the French toast, it was really good but just a bit too sweet for me so I couldn't eat a lot of it. But the taste of the French toast itself was really good, I think I'd just ask for the cream on the side next time. We'll definitely be back for brunch! read more

Came here for brunch and their timed bottomless beverages and while the space was amazing, the staff were so kind and helpful, the drinks kept flowing - the food left something to be desired. Having ordered the croissant sandwich (which sincerely lacked in meat) and trying my friend's mushroom omelette, everything was vastly over-salted and needed hot sauce for flavor. I love the look of this place! I have only been for drinks prior and sat at the outdoor bar. From what I recall, the bartender was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The food was good! Not the best burger I've ever had, but it's a good burger and the ambiance and service was great. The chicken wings were cooked perfectly! Decided to come here for restaurant week last month with two friends. We like to try "new to us" places when choosing where to go. As we were following the hostess to be seated, we were blown away by how big the restaurant was! We sat in the last room in the back, which also had a bar in it. Service and food were good! We stopped in at the butcher bar on a rainy Saturday. They had their brunch menu and I ordered the monte cristo sandwich. Stacked with smoked turkey, ham, Swiss cheese. Served with homemade fries and the raspberry preserve. This was a delicious sandwich but what made it unique was the raspberry sandwich. Truly different than anything I have tried on a sandwich and it was a right mixture of sweet and savory taste buds that didn't overpower the sandwich. This is a really cute bar, very rustic, can easily be dressed up or down. Staff was lovely, food was served in a timely manner. Mixed reviews on food and drinks. The bone marrow is great, the smoked Gouda mac and cheese was great, and the pasta of the day was okay, it was stuffed ravioli that day. The lamb was a 2/10, do not recommend at all. I personally didn't think octopus was well made but my friend thought it was okay. Only 2 people at the table drank and both are bartenders, and they gave okay drink reviews. I went during Restaurant week because of the extensive menu offered for $40. With three courses and in the first, you were able to choose from five items the same for the entrée and two for dessert. When you walk you encounter a spacious bar with a friendly staff and great drink options. There's a lot to choose from here even if you're just stopping in for a drink. I got a citywide was a good bang for my 7 bucks. It was three of us. We all chose something different and did a taste testing. The Korean cauliflower got rave reviews and the smoked chicken wings were good not great. As for the Eye tray, I chose the Nashville hot game hen. It was pretty good The ribs were tasty not dry and very meaty. Then there was the 8 ounce steak which was cooked perfectly and I must say 8 ounces is a lot for a $40.00 3 course meal. The ambience is a little dark but it is a bar. The upstairs dining was very nice. You could see out of the open window down onto the street. Would I go again? New to the city so thought I'd start a yelp, and with the my first stop i was very pleased. I am definitely a quantity over quality guy, I like a lot of food. When dining at a high quality restaurant often you get less because less is more. I felt the size of the food was perfect. I left full, and it was also delicious. The food came out fast, the scenery was beautiful and well decorated. I didn't feel it was over priced. A great experience and am excited to go back for endless mimosas here soon. A great spot in the city with good food and amazing service! The service honestly stood out the most! My bf and I dined here the other night for restaurant week. It didn't seem packed, but we were seated upstairs rather than the "patio" section. Upstairs was just a bit cramped with the women's restroom. For the first course, we ordered the hipster meatballs and butcher wedge. Both had a beautiful presentation and tasted great. I'm sure the regular meatballs would've been better, but the hipster version was still flavorful! For the second course, we ordered the braised short rib Cavatelli and the grilled Denver steak. The pasta dish was heavy, plentiful and delicious. I loved the light sauce and the noodles were chewy. My steak was a bit too chewy for me. We weren't the biggest fan of the steak itself, but we were fans of the chimichurri and side veggies. For the last course, we ordered the mousse and bread pudding. Unfortunately, we were running late for a show so had to get dessert to go. When we did eat it back home, the bread pudding wasn't warm and the mousse wasn't cold. The bread pudding did not include the ice cream for obvious reasons. It was still good but I know it would've been better if we ate it there. Incredibly impressed! So, from the front The Butcher Bar looks small, but cool retro. As you enter, the restaurant is much larger than it appears and has a great covered patio area where we sat. Our waitress, Michelle, was absolutely awesome. She was so pleasant, attentive and just brought such a great energy that she made our experience even better. Now on to the food. Phenomenal! We were a party of 6 celebrating our daughter's graduation from Drexel and we're looking for a great meal and boy did they deliver. We had the beef jerky, burnt ends and garlic bread with Parmesan for starters. Then we went on to share a couple Tomahawk Steaks, Filet Mignon and Octopus. All outstanding. I thought the food was fantastic. My burger was very juicy and the sauce on it brought it all together. The fries were crispy and hot with the right amount of salt. The mac and cheese was some of the creamiest I've had in a while. Overall, a very great meal. I sat upstairs with a beautiful view of the restaurant AND window seating. I did the TOP IT OFF brunch experience and it was truly worth it! Beginning with the bottomless drink options (Bloody Mary's, Mimosas, Margaritas) and then the starter and entree, phenomenal! I enjoyed the chosen margarita of the day, the Bloody Mix was a bit too gritty for my liking but I still enjoyed my drinks! The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwhich (with the bacon and slaw) is probably the best version of this Sandwhich I've had! It was fresh and very tasty with the additions. The Hash was okay; not but a filler before the main meal. Sabrina was truly a great server! She made my experience such a delight. From her initial welcome and overall spirit/energy during my visit! My first time at the Butcher Bar was on 12/10/25 and I was so surprised in a pleasant way! Wonderfully decorated for the holiday season and that just set the tone. I had the NY strip medium and it was delicious and I was happy about the bonus of my steak served already sliced. My party of 3 shared some apps which were tasty and we had cocktails which were also delicious. Not keen on the wine being served in a milk glass but okay. Our server was great, and appeared very busy. (Perhaps he could've used some help.) This is a great place for a small get together as it appeared there was outdoor space and a private room. My son and I went here for the first time in the spring of 2021 while in Philly touring colleges - as he tried to decide which school he would attend. We came back last month after his graduation from Temple. It was so nice to bookend his years there at this very special place - and we will be back. The drinks are great, service is fantastic, vegetarian options are good (which is rare for such a meat focused place), meats are perfectly cooked, but the star of the show - and you simply must order this - is the mac and cheese!!!
