    The trough

Came here for a birthday and we ordered The Trough as a group of 10 and still had so many leftovers. The staff here were quick and attentive.

Split the tomahawk ribeye with a Buddy and it was delicious. Great happy hour for and drink specials. Staff was super friendly, great place to hang if you're in Rittenhouse Sq.

Not worth the price or hype. Came here on reservations for a pre Valentine's Day dinner while i was working a dif store. The menu is completely different than what's online. Started w butcher board and bone marrow. Butcher board was over spiced over priced. And the cheese was a little cube. The board barely fit on the table because they were so small. The guy next to us went to bathroom and wouldn't go back to his side cause of how tight it was. The pasta special was supposed to have meat in it but it was just chunks of fat. The rib eye has a set price on online menu. But when you get in it's MP and that mp was 75 dollars. I had a fifty dollar cheaper and better tasting steak at outback don't name yourself butcher if you can't even cook medium rare i was chewing for days the o ion rings were burnt oil and clumped together. The best thing was the Gouda Mac and it was watery. The service was pretty good. But everything else isn't worth it. Plus the driving and parking g is ridiculous. NO parking there you have to park and spend an extra 20 to 80 to park. I said we woulda had a better meal at Cracker Barrel 230 bucks. Oh and the dessert menu is nothing. Go somewhere else trust me save your money.

    French toast

The chocolate chip pancakes for their brunch are the reason we tried this place. Let me tell you, my fiancé loved them, and he is picky about his pancakes/breakfast. He rated them a 9.5/10. For the French toast, it was really good but just a bit too sweet for me so I couldn't eat a lot of it. But the taste of the French toast itself was really good, I think I'd just ask for the cream on the side next time. We'll definitely be back for brunch!

I love the look of this place! I have only been for drinks prior and sat at the outdoor bar. From what I recall, the bartender was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The food was good! Not the best burger I've ever had, but it's a good burger and the ambiance and service was great. The chicken wings were cooked perfectly! There's a pretty extensive draft beer list and a lot of whiskey/bourbon forward cocktails if that's your taste.

Decided to come here for restaurant week last month with two friends. We like to try "new to us" places when choosing where to go. As we were following the hostess to be seated, we were blown away by how big the restaurant was! We sat in the last room in the back, which also had a bar in it. Service and food were good! We were all pleased with our picks from the restaurant week menu. I started with the cauliflower and Brussels sprouts appetizer (wonderful!) then had the short rib toast as my entree. Overall pleased with our restaurant pick! Cool vibe and the staff were all friendly and professional!

Really enjoyed the night out at Butcher bar. The octopus was a little overdone, but the flavors were amazing! And the lamb was also excellent. I would say you can skip the sides. The garlic It's actually a great spot if you wanna go on a date, or hang out with friends. I'll definitely be coming back.

Second time! This time ordered on DoorDash. Got different things and glad I did because there are so many tasty options. Well packaged. Great place if you want to get multiple things to share.

    Monte Cristo sandwich
    David M.

We stopped in at the butcher bar on a rainy Saturday. They had their brunch menu and I ordered the monte cristo sandwich. Stacked with smoked turkey, ham, Swiss cheese. Served with homemade fries and the raspberry preserve. This was a delicious sandwich but what made it unique was the raspberry sandwich. Truly different than anything I have tried on a sandwich and it was a right mixture of sweet and savory taste buds that didn't overpower the sandwich. The restaurant was nice we sat on the second level and it was a very lively place on a Saturday during the day. The class were and professional and made me feel welcome enough that I would go back again.

Stuffed ravioli with sausage, pasta of the day
    Frances U.

This is a really cute bar, very rustic, can easily be dressed up or down. Staff was lovely, food was served in a timely manner. Mixed reviews on food and drinks. The bone marrow is great, the smoked Gouda mac and cheese was great, and the pasta of the day was okay, it was stuffed ravioli that day. The lamb was a 2/10, do not recommend at all. I personally didn't think octopus was well made but my friend thought it was okay. Only 2 people at the table drank and both are bartenders, and they gave okay drink reviews. I'll be back for a second try though, never try any place once! It's good for groups as well!

I went during Restaurant week because of the extensive menu offered for $40. With three courses and in the first, you were able to choose from five items the same for the entrée and two for dessert. When you walk you encounter a spacious bar with a friendly staff and great drink options. There's a lot to choose from here even if you're just stopping in for a drink. I got a citywide was a good bang for my 7 bucks. It was three of us. We all chose something different and did a taste testing. The Korean cauliflower got rave reviews and the smoked chicken wings were good not great. As for the Eye tray, I chose the Nashville hot game hen. It was pretty good The ribs were tasty not dry and very meaty. Then there was the 8 ounce steak which was cooked perfectly and I must say 8 ounces is a lot for a $40.00 3 course meal. The ambience is a little dark but it is a bar. The upstairs dining was very nice. You could see out of the open window down onto the street. Would I go again? Yes with or without Restaurant week.

New to the city so thought I'd start a yelp, and with the my first stop i was very pleased. I am definitely a quantity over quality guy, I like a lot of food. When dining at a high quality restaurant often you get less because less is more. I felt the size of the food was perfect. I left full, and it was also delicious. The food came out fast, the scenery was beautiful and well decorated. I didn't feel it was over priced. A great experience and am excited to go back for endless mimosas here soon. The waitress came, did her two minute check and offered us salt and pepper and after she walked away my girlfriend said "usually I ask for salt but this is perfect." (P.S. if you love fries, these fries are outstanding) Thanks Butchers Bar.

    Potato hash
    Jenae M.

This is a quick and simple brunch spot! I typically lean more toward lunch side and get the chicken sandwich. Tried the potato hash and wish I could have took an order home. The flavor packed a punch and so much better than I expected. Bottomless drinks included which is always a plus.

We celebrated my birthday there and I was a bit shocked when they didn't offer to comp a dessert, since most steakhouses usually do, but I didn't mind as it's not expected. Our second visit didn't live up to our first time experience. The steak we ordered was so raw that it was inedible. Luckily, we got 2 big entrees so we were able to enjoy one and take the steak to go and cook it a bit more to enjoy for dinner the day after. This third visit REALLY threw us off. First, we waited over 30 minutes to be seated. When we were finally seated, we were seated in what is likely the most uncomfortable seat in the restaurant. You would think if you just made someone wait 30 minutes past their reservation, you'd maybe give them the bigger table that's available to get them back in your good graces. I will say most of the food was very good. We ordered the crab and artichoke appetizer which was good but not great, and for dinner we ordered the duck which was cooked perfectly and the ribeye which was also cooked well. I had mentioned it was my birthday at the beginning of the meal. Since I didn't receive anything with my last birthday experience, I had no expectations of a comped dessert. That was until the young lady at the table next to us received a comped baked Alaska for her birthday. When it was my turn for the waiter to offer a dessert we were asked if we wanted to order anything. We said no and asked for the check. When they brought us the check, they finally remembered we had been delayed half an hour and that's when they offered a comped dessert. Why is it that someone else got a free dessert for their birthday and not me? If you're going to offer that to one you should offer to all. Other than that, the service overall was very lacking. We were checked in on 3 times during the night whereas the table next to us received constant check ins. Not sure what that was about since we had the same waiter. We were also seated and ordered before the table next to us and they received everything before us. Appetizer, dinner, dessert and check. Not sure why this happened but after tonight's disappointing experience and overall food inconsistency I have decided not to dine here anymore. More for tonight's service than anything else. Disappointing and overhyped.

The first impression was not especially auspicious. The restaurant is tucked away in the basement beneath a building on Walnut Street in Philadelphia, and at first glance the menu prices gave me pause. I ordered the 9-piece tasting menu with uni for $68, and every single piece of nigiri was exquisite. The fish practically melted in my mouth, with outstanding freshness, texture, and flavor. Each bite felt carefully crafted and perfectly balanced. The service was equally impressive. The staff was warm, cheerful, attentive, and made the entire experience feel welcoming and relaxed. I arrived toward the end of the evening, so the restaurant was pleasantly quiet, which made the meal even more enjoyable. This was truly a memorable dining experience. Minus 2 stars - as the end of the night, our server disappeared & when he did reappear, I could never get his attention to get the bill. I flagged someone else down but they just shrugged. It took me putting my jacket on (& 20 extra mins) to get Lawrence's attention. Also, it was close to the end of the night as we were wrapping up - maybe 9:30ish. There were still PLENTY of guests eating dinner, and the workers started breaking down tables in our section, moving things around, replacing large tables for smaller ones, etc. We're trying to have a nice (expensive!) dinner & workers are cleaning up around us. Our waitress, Ayoola, was exceptional--warm, personable, and genuinely thoughtful. She made us feel completely taken care of from start to finish. We began at the bar with a cocktail called the VIP, which was perfectly balanced--smooth, refreshing, and very easy to enjoy. I didn't even think to take a photo until we were nearly finished--that's always a good sign. The complimentary bread was outstanding--warm, buttery, and perfectly fluffy with a delicate texture. Easily one of the best I've had, and very hard to resist. My husband and I shared three appetizers, two mains, and three sides, and even the sides were generously portioned. It was quite a lot of food, but every dish was beautifully prepared, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The tuna tartare--with avocado and prawn chips--was incredibly fresh, delicious, and well-seasoned, with a delicate balance that really let the quality of the fish shine. The medium-rare sesame ahi tuna was another standout--perfectly seared, tender, and rich in flavor. It was so good that my husband started digging in before I could even snap a photo. We couldn't even finish all the sides, and by the end, we were completely full and had to skip dessert--but that just gives us a reason to come back. An exceptional dining experience in every way--this is easily a 5-star experience, and one we'll be thinking about long after the meal.

I started with a cocktail and really enjoyed it. It was fruity, well-balanced, and had just the right amount of alcohol without being overpowering. Based on recommendations, I ordered the burger. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for me. It could have been cooked better, and overall I wasn't particularly impressed with it. What stood out most was the service. My server was attentive, friendly, and checked in regularly without being intrusive. Overall, The Dandelion offers a pleasant atmosphere, excellent service, and great cocktails. While the burger wasn't a standout for me, I'd be willing to return and try other menu items.
