When we finally did get someone's attention she seemed upset that she had to seat us and made us feel like we we're just a nuisance. Very dissapointing for we heard great things about the food here. I was about to give them a 3 star rating - but then I remembered the AMAZING margherita pizza I had. The waiter let us in on a not so little secret - they get a lot of their food from the fancy schmancy restaurant next door. And, you can tell because it's not your typical bar food. The crust was perfect and the it was one of the best margherita pizzas I have ever had. There are not a whole lot of frills at Harpoon Willies. But, you don't go there expecting that either. The bartenders are friendly. The drinks are priced just right. And, I have had many fun nights in Lake Geneva with friends here. This is typically our go-to place. Went there to dine in on a hot day and the inside was just about as hot as it was outside. The wait staff all had attitudes like we were bothering them to get a refill. The smoked ham was almost too salty to eat and to top it off I wound up PUKING that night from something in the fish tacos. Dine at your own risk. I will never go there again. read more

Harpoon Willie's is one of our favorite hamburger joints (although they offer much more). Staff is friendly and courteous, food is a cut above most of the bar type restaurants. I love the burgers and the waffle fries. My family likes chicken fingers, wings, brats and such. This is a warm and welcoming place, with a local flavor. You will love it! read more

It's a bar - with food. Nothing more, nothing less. The fish sandwich was ok, as was the pasta salad that came with it. Burger was ok - but the waffle fries have a ton of spicy seasoning on them - which they don't tell you about on the menu or when you order. Stick to bottled beer - both offerings we got on tap were flatter than I was as a 12 year old. The chairs on the patio are your only option if you don't want to smell like smoke, and they are the incomfortable $5 patio plastic things. I'd say Harpoon Willies is the bar equivalent of that drunk extended family member who you don't WANT to be at Thanksgiving: when they inevitably show, you suck it up and try to have a good time, anyway. Harpoon is not your first stop of the night, and if it's your last, it's because you drank too much beforehand. The drinks can be overpriced, but if you manage to get there when they have deals on shots or beer, you can end up saving a bit of cash - it's all about how you play the bar. I will hand it to them, though, their popcorn is better than any other bar I've eaten at (including my campus favorite, Burrito Loco). My friends and I ended up having somewhere around 5 bowls of popcorn, alone, which made the bottom-of-the-bottom-shelf booze somewhat tolerable and the creeps who wouldn't leave us alone forgivable. If you're in the Lake Geneva area, however, and you HAVE to go out in Williams Bay, stick to Pier 290. Unless Harpoon Willies is packed (which is so very rare), it's nothing to write home about. read more

I was here for lunch with a co-worker and I had the blacken tuna sandwich. I asked for coleslaw instead of potato chips. . On the menu it said it was prepaid rare but what I got was almost fully cooked only a slight hint of rare in the center overall taste was very good and fresh. However, there wasn't much red pepper pesto so I had to ask for more and the side of coleslaw was in a dressing side container. I wish I would have had more of that. After eating the whole thing I was still hungry, and craving more. It was well priced but I hate leaving hungry and the waitress was so slow. A total local, dive bar complete with a moderately friendly bar tender, $2 grab your own lobster game, and free popcorn from a real popcorn machine. No drink menus or fancy martinis here, but if you stick with classic drinks you'll have a good time. My cosmo was only $6. They didn't get that 4th star because when I went all their taps were broken and they stop serving food pretty early. We arrived a little before 10pm and were out of luck. The music also kept getting louder and louder the longer we stayed, but if you'd like to experience some locals and have a quick drink, this is a decent place. read more

Love this bar! It is the perfect amount of dive for me. The look in here is very old school, with an old wooden bar and one little pool table squeezed in. There are also enormous windows that give a great view of the lake. I don't think that the drinks were too pricey here. I don't entirely remember. The bartender was cool and took shots with us though, which I appreciated. This place seems to be a pretty popular local hangout. I don't know about the food, but from what I hear they have it. If anyone is considering eating at Harpoon Willies, please, be aware, Do not order a glass of wine. My wife and i went there for lunch today and ordered a salad ($11.00) and a fish sandwich($13.00) and two glasses of their house Chardonnay. When a check arrived, i noticed a charge of $28.00 for two glasses of wine. I live in the area and try to eat at and support our local businesses. Charging such outrageous amounts will discourage me from eating there again. read more

Went in for dinner. Slow service, no refills on our waters. Had to ask the guy numerous times for our check which he never brought out. I finally got up and followed him to the server station and had to ask for him to swipe my card. Calamari was good, even though we waited 45mins to an hour for it as an appetizer. read more

IMO, best spot in Williams Bay to grab a beer, some reasonably priced dinner and a view of the Bay. Gluten Free & Vegetarian friendly. Good layout and flow of the place. Definitely can't beat it for the area. It's a smaller local bar with an attached patio with nice seating facing the water. All outdoor seats offer a nice view with almost no obstruction of the view of the Bay. Tables recently added removable tops to the center to reveal a fire pit that can be lit at the table just for cocktails and hanging out - very nice upgrade/touch. Staff is small but they do a decent job. Been here many times and have never really had a complaint. However if outside is full, there's no obvious Greeter or person managing the wait list and you have to seek them out. But I'm a big boy - it's all good. ;) read more

This was the first time I visited Harpoon Willies. In fact, it was the first time for four of the six in my group. We were excited to have some drinks and eat greasy food. It started off well; we were sat quickly and had our order taken within five minutes. What is more, the food came fast and was delicious. That is why I gave them two stars, otherwise, I wouldn't have given them any. Now, why would I not give them any, you may ask? Well, for one reason: our waiter - I couldn't catch his name but he has a red circle tattoo and undercut haircut. He was not a good waiter for three reasons. One, he could not correctly tell us the price of drinks. A spotted cow on tap started at $4.25 but became $6.75 after we ordered. Also, we were told a rum and coke was $3-$4, but it became over $5.50 a few minutes later. So we canceled all drink orders immediately. It was not the price that caused us to cancel, it was that we just didn't know how much it actually was going to cost us. Two, he didn't come to our table for over 10 minutes when it was evident that we were waiting for our check. He just sat by the bar staring into the distance. He wasn't swamped, if he was we would have totally been okay with the wait. Three, when we finally received our bills, my friend was charged for a drink she never ordered. Understandable, it happens, you know? But then he said, "do you want me to take it off your bill or keep it on?" Like, do you think she wants to be charged for a drink she never ordered? Come on, man. So, it was great food, yes. Service? Not at all. read more

I got a thin pizza here. It came about 40 minutes after ordering. 40. For a thin crust pizza. You'd expect this pizza to be good since they spent so much time on it right? Wrong. It was cold. And very greasy. I'd also like to discuss the interior. It is very cute inside, but there is a boat hanging from the ceiling with a life-size doll in a bathing suit hanging out. The boat looks as if it would fall, which is a safety hazard. Additionally, my young children were startled by the half-naked doll. Don't waste your time here. read more

I have been here number of times over the years. This is a decent place to have a drink and some casual eats. Some of the best stuff here is the BBQ. They smoke meats onsite. Came in last week and had some. I tried the beef brisket platter. The meat was very good. Very tender and you can cut it with a fork. It came with a sides of beans, macaroni and cheese and cornbread all of which are decent but not great to me. To be fair these dishes are very subjective and it depends on ones taste. I washed it down with plenty of ice cold Stella on tap. The service here is great. This is a good place to come anytime and the prices are right. I will be back. read more

I've had good burgers here before and the pizzas looked good but my wife and I were both unhappy after a recent visit. I ordered a french dip sandwich and my wife had a fish sandwich. I always look before biting so I took the top of the bun off and recognized that a whole bunch of work was needed before I put what was in front of me into my mouth. By the time I finished picking fat off the sandwich, there was barely a single layer of meat to cover the bottom of the bread. Some pieces of "meat" were 100% fat only - solid pieces of fat were placed on my sandwich. When I was finished, I had a pile of fat the size of a 12" softball off to the side on my plate. The waitress did ask how my sandwich was but, a proper question would have been a comment "I'm sorry - was all that fat on your sandwich??? I'll get you another one..." I don't bother complaining about something that unacceptable - I just don't go back. As a side note, my wife's fish sandwich was half-decent. By that I mean that one half was rubbery and the other was pretty good. Now, I realize that some folks like fat but - I'm not one of them. Unless the lights were out in the kitchen and/or the chef was blind, the sandwich I was served was totally unacceptable. read more

I had their pizza wich was very exspensive for some pizza! Thier mozzerella sticks were some kind of spring rolls with cheese...gross texture. The pizza was over run with tomatoes wich tasted like they just opened a can of walmart special of the day canned awful-ness and dumped it on my pizza along with a jug of oregano..wich overwhelmed the taste of everythin else . bill for the large cheese,mushroom,sausage pizza and mozz-sticks-46.00..seriously?...for crying out loud i could have frozen pizza shopeed myself to death for that amount..and it would have tasted better read more

We were there last night with another couple and just ordered one small and one large pizza. The pizza seemed to be taking forever. When Ben, the waiter, finally came over with the small pizza he explained that the large one ripped while coming out of the oven and they had to make a new one. Nice place. Good burgers. We stop here at least once a year. Never had a bad meal yet but hard to screw up a burger. Nice view of Lake Geneva to boot. Update 8/11/18 Both restrooms need some updating and repair. The stall door had been vandalized and did not close. My wife said the one of the toliets would not flush. Not good. read more
