Great food. Good prices. AMAZING views! Best on the lake! friendly bartenders and servers as well.

Wisco board. Brats were good and trout spread. Cheese spread had zero flavor

Start with the good part. The views are amazing. The restaurant kept the floor plan which was smart. Each level is elevated including a booth level , so it's an awesome view from everywhere. Drinks were very slow to arrive, but good. I had summertime nectar and it was great! Appetizer: Wisco Board. Brats were great. Cheese spread had zero flavor. Trout spread was good, just a very small amount. Crackers were an odd choice. Large and hard. Mustard was way too intense. Two of us had the Weinerschnitzel. I won't get again. Lots of grizzly pieces. No gravy. Potato came with a broccoli cheese sauce? I get it, trying to be different. But missed the mark. Again no flavor. How can cheese anything have no flavor??? They called it a loaded potato. Not loaded at all. Purple kraut. Unedible. Walleye platter: so mad I didn't take a picture. It was two completely different of fish. No clue what the 2nd piece of fish was. 2nd was like a whitefish. Called the MGR the next day and big attitude saying it was most definitely both walleye. But it was not. Might want to check with your fish supplier. Not the same fish. Fries were great!! Coleslaw bad. Nobody liked it and we all typically love Cole slaw.! Smash burger was good, so that was the highlight of the dinner. We are cheese soup connoisseurs so we had to try. Again zero flavor! Cheese curds were awful. It's like 1/2 of them were cooked earlier and thrown in with a new batch. Some were hot, most were cold. Cheese curds must be served hot. Being such a "Wisconsin " restaurant, they need to correct this. Sauces were awful. Had to ask for ranch. I hope they improve as the views are awesome, but clearly they need a lot of work on the food.

I heard great things, so I thought I'd give it a try. Staff was warm and friendly. The atmosphere was top notch! Menu is quite extensive and full of variety. I just had the Oak and Oar salad, a couple of appetizers, and had a beer. The cheese curds and Beer Cheese soup were delicious. The salad was very fresh, with crispy, chilled lettuce. Prices were very reasonable. Definitely a return trip.

I believe I heard a waitress say that it's only been open for 2 weeks now. I wouldn't have known because the service was fantastic. It was absolutely beautiful inside. Huge open windows and an amazing view of the lake. I saw a server using ASL with hard of hearing guests which I thought was amazing. My wife & I started with the crab cake appetizer & holy crap. You can tell it's real crab and the tartar sauce & mustard was perfect with it. Then we split their smash burger. Again, the sauce and the pickles were amazing but the burger itself was even better. The seasoning was just delightful. Then we ended with the apple pie ala mode & raspberry topped cheesecake. Both were exactly what we wanted. We're looking forward to returning to try some other items! Oh & they had a decent amount on N/A beers too. Big fan of the Riverwest Stein!

The service was awful. We didn't get a drink order in for 20 min. We didn't get our food until 1:45 later. The food was cold and dry.

Had the fried walleye. They deep fried it in oil and all I could taste was oil. It was awful. Worst walleye I ever had. Won't go again

The mansion was built in 1856, making it the first mansion in Lake Geneva. The estate has been completely redone but charming details were kept. Along with a mansion where you can book a room, Maxwell also includes beautiful gardens, lounges, outdoor fireplaces, a heated pool, croquet and bocce ball. There is also a separate area in the back with motel rooms. Like I said, I was there for a lil' drink. There's a bar inside the mansion (Apothecary Bar) with all kinds of medical and druggist paraphernalia, with the space being a tribute to Dr. Philip Maxwell. But it's the speakeasy, which is accessible outside in the front of the house, that you'll want to visit. Ask for the password inside the mansion, and they will let you into a dark, below-ground bar. It's all decorated in prohibitionist flyers, and even the bartenders are dressed up in period costumes. It's a really cool and unique bar in Lake Geneva.

Focusing the review on the apothecary bar. You need to know the password to get in the speakeasy. A few days after we visited the speakeasy, we went in to try the apothecary bar to get some food and drink. A friendly helpful bartender, explained all their creative cocktails, shared the pub food that they offered, and answered questions. We ordered a flatbread pizza and a spinach artichoke dip as well as a couple of cocktails. They served us at a table where we sat on a couch in a room just across the hall and were quite comfortable. There are other rooms where you can go - not much seating in the actual apothecary bar.

It's your standard steak house vibes in terms of ambiance - classic decor with a lot of leather. They have lovely floor to ceiling windows overlooking the golf course and we were lucky enough to be seated right next to them so we had a view. There was a mix of dress wear, some people coming right from a round of golf and others more dressed up, it's definitely 'higher end' feel. Our waitress was lovely, very informative and patient when it came to food & wine selection (a really great wine menu!). We ordered Oyster Rockefeller, the steak special and the scallop meal. The Rockefellers were delicious, it's always one of my favorite things to order! The scallops were cooked nicely, but the dish overall was lacking some flavor. Thankfully it had the pancetta in in it which helped elevate the meal. The steak was cooked to perfection, very tender and flavorful. The convenience of the experience is what truly made the night for us, paired with the good wine & good food we would certainly eat here again when we stay on property.

I would have eaten here a second time on Sunday afternoon, but I got a $30 ticket after parking in what I thought was a free parking lot behind the adjoining businesses on the Main Street. I ended up stopping by Culver's on the way home to make up for the $30 charged by the greedy city of Lake Geneva. If the business owner reads this, please help do something about the outrageous parking fees in your city. Maybe a warning would have been nice instead of a ticket, or free parking during winter months on a Sunday. It cost you $60-70 in business this time, and has me looking elsewhere for our next weekend trip.

I didn't know you could group up and reserve seats at the bar before your party is there. My bad. Now I know. I should have made reservations... for the bar stool... I thought I was becoming a regular. I'll have to seriously think again. That really felt pretty weak. Super disappointing.
