They have some beautiful fresh fish of numerous varieties, shrimp, clams, and just about any local seafood you may want to cook up for dinner. They even offer Low Country Boil Packages based on how many people you're feeding (nothing is more South Carolina than a Low Country Boil. Some call it Frogmore Stew). OK I had fresh fish on my mind and I didn't know what I wanted so we pulled into this spot in Murrel's Inlet. I cannot eat shellfish so I went to the fish area and the gentleman was super helpful in telling me about all the fresh fish. When I say fresh it was caught that morning!!!!! They had sushi grade of several items. He talked to us about many options and we chose the tilefish. I've never had that before and it was amazing. It was buttery and kinda like grouper in texture. We also got the underbelly of the flounder as well as grouper cheeks. Oh my goodness was it delicious. This is not cheap but so worth it. I've never had better fish. I cooked it simply in a skillet with a little seasoning and squeeze of lemon. We didn't even have any sauce and nobody missed that. Harrelson's is a nice seafood market with lots of fresh seafood options. The employees were all friendly and helpful. They have fresh fish fillets on ice on the back right and fresh full fish on ice on the back left. They also carry frozen crab cakes, some frozen soups and several other frozen options. They will steam the food for you if you ask. We bought some fresh red snapper, mahi mahi, peeled and deveined shrimp and a couple of lobster tails. We also bought some frozen lobster bisque, frozen crab cakes and some house-made shrimp and crab boil. Overall, we were very pleased with the quality of the food. We cooked the shrimp in the shrimp and crab boil spice mix, and they tasted great. We heated the lobster bisque per the recipe, and it was really good. We cooked the fish fillets in a lemon/butter/garlic sauce in the oven, and they tasted great. We cooked the crab cakes in the oven. While they had a good flavor, they had more cracker breading/filling than I normally like. I prefer more crab, but it was pretty good. The only disappointment we had was that one of the lobster tails we bought had gone bad, so we had to throw it out - probably not the fault of Harrelson's since all the lobster tails were displayed the same as all the fish fillets, which was over ice and in a cooler. Also, prices are pretty high, but like most things, you pay for quality. Overall, I give Harrelson's Seafood Market a 9/10. read more

The freshest fish, (sea bass this time) i have ever bought! Great variety of fresh seafood and prepared foods like She-Crab Soup, tarter sauce, and variety of other name brand items. The friendly staff at this very clean fish market prepared the whole sea-bass as i requested and packed it on ice for me. i wasn't able to cook that night so the next day when i opened the iced package i expected a fishy smell but was pleasantly surprised that there was no fish smell at all, even putting the fish right up to nostrils! Cats didn't even know i was prepping fish! I stuffed with lemon, tomatoes, green beans, carrots, fresh shucked corn, onion and garlic, then seared and roasted at 450 about 15 minutes- it was fantastic! the back bone/ribs removed easily. We spent the week at Lichfield and wanted seafood without having to expose ourselves to death by virus... so, we stopped by. Super good selection of almost any reasonable fish. They had a Grouper that must have weighed 75 pounds all sliced into pieces. We got one that was over a pound. I used a sous vide machine to warm it to 132 degrees for about 25 minutes, with a touch of salt and pepper in the bag. Next, I dropped it into an ice-water bath for 5 minutes, to keep the ten down for the next step... Then dropped it onto a cast iron skillet on the grill at about 450 degrees. A bit of grape oil and a pat of butter for each side... two nd one half min per side. We ate the fish with some asparagus that I cooked in the same grill on another skillet. I tossed a bit of lime juice on mine and can say that this fish was a good as anything I have eaten... and for 20% of the price of some of those meals... We also picked up a pound of shrimp. Those were cleaned and cooked in a pan with a bit of olive oil on medium... at the same time I tossed in a medium container of mushrooms sliced 1/4 inch thick. That cooked 4 min, then I tossed in two large servings of pasta that were strained hot from the boiling pan and about 2 ounces of goat cheese and about 1/4 cup of cream. Topped it off with some shredded Parmesan... All that was needed to go with this shrimp pasta dish was a glass of wine. The shrimp were great... The service was excellent. Selection as good as you could want. Harrelson's was recommended to us by a restaurant owner who seems to know what he is doing... I think he did! read more

The day before we left ( we live in Augusta, GA but were there on vacation) we ended up buying a cooler since we couldn't decide on just a couple of things Every dollar we spent was well worth it! The staff is so knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions you may have. We spent quite a bit, but the quality of their seafood is amazing! From the snapper, trigger fish, cod, tuna, shrimp... everything we cooked at home was top notch. If you're a seafood lover, do yourself a favor and stop by and get you some! The best way to eliminate leftovers? Visit Harrelson's Seafood Market. Today I went all in with fresh mahi, fresh grouper, fresh shrimp, crab cakes and she crab soup. All I can say is when I prepared the dinner meal it was received by our guests like they thought I really knew how to cook. All of the credit goes to Harrelson's. The she crab soup that I purchased was as good as I have ever eaten. The Crab Lady crab cakes were amazing and crab cakes are rarely my favorite. It is a must that you get their remoulade (home made) to accompany the crab cakes. All of the seafood was fresh and had a great taste. Harrelson's was very clean and there was no odor of fish. The gentleman that assisted me was very helpful and really offered great guidance on the selections. Just a great place to aid in the preparation of a great coastal meal. read more

I always ride right by the other seafood markets in Myrtle Beach to come here. They have several sizes of locally caught shrimp which they will spice and steam for free if you get there an hour or so before closing. The ready made fresh She Crab soup heats perfectly and is well packaged for a quick trip home. I highly recommend the Crabcake Lady's crab cakes. They are packaged 6 per package or a dozen for @$35. And are great with their remoulade sauce. They have emery thing needed for a low country boil. The crab legs are fresh and delicious. You can pick up some zippy cocktail sauce to go with your steamed shrimp. They have a good variety of grouper, snapper, flounder, Mahi and salmon. Whether you want crabs, shrimp, fish or a boil I recommend trying this place out. read more

Not bad smelling for a seafood market. While they have a large selection of fresh and frozen seafood there is so much more!!! Lots of side items, they also offer sauces, sides, seasonings, t-shirts, and bait. Spend an extra $2 per pound to let them steam your shrimp or crab legs. It's worth it!!! read more

I came here to buy oysters. 18.99 dollar for a dozen of oysters and they were really small and not fresh. I ended up throwing away most of them and going to restaurant and got 99cent oysters and they were a lot bigger and fresher. Finally, after several years, made my first stop into Harrelson's. Why did I wait so long? I wish I knew why! By far the best spot to pick up all your fresh local Carolina seafood and fish. The employees are so friendly! If you have a question about an item you are sure to get the answer. I never knew what the difference between wet and dry scallops were since I've always gotten dry my entire life. Many thanks for the knowledge. If you have heard about the famous Crab Cake Lady you don't have to look far because the market carries these in the freezer case. Besides the fresh local seafood they carry the local Harrelson's line of dried fish skin dog treats, spices breading blends and low country boil packs that feed two. I am a local. I've lived in the Inlet for 20+ years. During Spring and Summer and early Fall, I fish the Creek and Midway Inlet for Flounder, Reds, Mullet, Blue Crabs and Oysters. I've purchased seafood from Harrelsons twice, both during winter months. Disappointed both times, overpriced, not fresh, fishy odor, bland taste. Not going back. read more

I first visited this recommended sea-monger store and Wow, was the first word that came to mind. I had never seen such a myriad of sea-food and fresh selection. I swear the shrimp and red.snapper appeared like they just jumped out of the water. I wasn't in line more than a minute and the young friendly man behind the counter asked if he could be of assistance? I said, "what do you recommend?" And he said politely, "what are u in the mood for?" So I just scanned the cold storage of fresh sea-food and told him I wanted to get my family some fresh shrimp to boil and eat...he asked how many and then suggested a quantity and type of shrimp. I went with the "Jumbo Tiger Prawns" and a healthy huge Red Snapper. He even asked if I had ever prepared these and I told him I had boiled shrimp but not snapper. So he gave me a few ideas and asked if that was all? I told him I would love to try one of everything, and he told me to come back and do that...and let me tell you, that meal That night was one of the best sea-food pig-outs I've ever done. My wife and 4 children loved all of it. We found our selves picking the snapper down to the bones! Now I've been using this sea-monger for over 20 years...I have never been disappointed in the selection or quality. The sales ppl are the best, very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, accommodating, and just gr8 ppl. So if u are new here or just visiting and want fresh sea-food please call ahead to see if that product is available, (Bc they do run-out late afternoon), and also when you go, ask them how to cook ur meal. Nothing worse than cooking ur delicious and sometimes pricey sea-food and cooking it to death. Please please, do not over-cook your shrimp. That is one of the biggest mistakes ppl make. They cook them to death. They should only take a few minutes not 20 minutes. I have a suggestion for that Fresh Red Snapper, get some heavy aluminum foil, lay your washed off fish on the foil, make some diagonal slices in the meat of the fish, (the number of slices depends on the size of the fish), squeeze some fresh lemon, a few mashed garlic cloves, pepper and salt to taste and wrap loosely in the foil....place in a baking pan, have the oven set at 375F and cook read more

While on vacation we stopped here to buy shrimp to cook for dinner. Their shrimp was fantastic! Fresh and beautiful and I didn't have any small shrimp mixed in with my large which I really liked. Some places like to do that to you and it totally pisses me off but that did not happen here. We also bought a pack of 6 frozen crab cakes to cook another night.
