Excellent fried seafood. Based on reviews we tried it this evening. I am always in search of a good lightly battered fried shrimp when in town and had been meaning to try this place for a while. But since they have very limited hours, had always missed it. We came in off the beach today earlier than normal to go here. Super casual - a food truck in a parking lot close to 17. It seems most take their food to go. They also have a few picnic tables we chose to use so the food would be hot and fresh. They weren't busy today. I understand their crowds diminished after leaving the location next to Beaver Bar. The bulk of their business is catering. Just one young man working this evening. He was super pleasant & went out of way to provide anything we needed. My husband and I both ordered the shrimp/grouper combo. WOW - it is a lot of food, perfectly fried, excellent homemade potato chips and lots of sauces for dipping. I ate until my stomach hurt and managed to eat only a few of the large serving of chips. Best Shrimp Tacos in Myrtle Beach! I've been visiting this area every summer for the last decade+ and I've always been disappointed with the seafood restaurants. Now that I've found this place that opinion has changed! Everything we ordered was delicious and you could tell was super fresh. The service was excellent, I believe the woman working was the owner and was super kind and helpful. The area was clean and the food truck is parked in a parking lot next to an ice cream place. There are a few tables to sit and eat at. Not a ton of space but guessing most get their food to go. Don't question if this is worth it, you absolutely need to go here! read more

We were traveling through Murrells Inlet and based on the reviews, stopped at The Fish Shak for lunch. We were so glad we made the detour. First off, the owner was very personable and accommodating. She made us feel welcome. We got the grouper sliders, the coconut shrimp entree special, and a side of hush puppies. The two entrees came with house made fries/chips hybrid with a creamy dill dipping sauce. The dipping sauce was surprisingly light for something cream based and paired well with the chips and seafood. Everything was fried perfectly and the coconut shrimp were so good, we were surprised that it wasn't a regular item. The hush puppies were some of the best we had. Hot, crispy, and damn delicious. The shrimp is nearly naked with just a hint of breading which I prefer. Tender, juicy, and shrimpy like Bubba Gump caught 'em this morning. Ordered the normal combo which includes the fried fish filet, fried shrimp, and fresh made potato chips. I picked all three sauces (cocktail, tartar, remoulade) and all were great but the edge goes to the remoulade. Extra sauce of dill ranch was provide for dipping the chips. Fish was very fresh and batter fry was perfect and thin. I would say the shrimp is the star out of the two as they were fried to perfection with very little fry batter. I prefer less batter on my shrimp and fish and this place delivers. The chips were freshly fried and all parts of the meal were freshly made on order. Portion size was excellent for the price. Stopped in today after trying another place and being told it was an hour wait for our group of 12. This food truck which is located on a local highway right across the street from the Beaver Bar is located in front of a gas station that has been converted into a bait shop. They have limited outside seating (3 picnic tables and an outdoor bar) but the food and nice weather made it worth it. My family ordered 4 orders of shrimp (3 XL which is 9 pieces and 1 L which is six pieces) while I ordered the trio platter (6 shrimp, 1 flounder filet and 6 grouper fingers). All meals are served with house-made chips with house made ranch and choice of house made dipping sauce for your entree (choose from remoulade, tartar sauce , cocktail sauce or Thai chili). If you order the trio you get ranch, remoulade, tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. All of them were excellent. There were no complaints from our group about the food and we devoured it. All items were fried to nice light golden brown. The business is staffed two kind ladies who were long suffering with my indecisive wife and children due to order changes and questions. You order from one lady at one window and the other lady cooks your food and you pick it up from her at the other window. They also prepare orders to go so you can bring it back to your room/ rental. A favorite local spot!!! Holy yum of all yums!!!! Let me tell you!!! I would eat here everyday for the rest of my life if my body fat percentage would allow fried foods to be a staple meal. The frying is done perfectly EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Lightly fried, really crispy, and never burnt. The oil tastes fresh every time, the fish is flaky, the shrimp stay plump, and the thinly sliced potato chips are both bendy and crispy. Now we don't drive into the inlet ever because our first and last stop is always this ammazing yellow food truck that sits in the parking lot of the bait shop. We sit at the picnic tables under his Tiki Umbrellas and watch the traffic drive by and this moment is easily one of my favorite parts of our visit. When the owner found out my local-living nephew has an egg allergy and couldn't eat any of the fried seafood because of the batter ingredients he uses, he surprised us the next time we stopped by with a new batter option that omits egg.
