We made a birthday reservation for two for Sunday at 12. Love the easily accessible location and relatively spacious parking lot. The patio looked large and lovely, if only it wasn't so hot. Very bright inside. Seated quickly as only one large party of about 8 were there. Not a huge place. Food was interesting -- the sharp cheddar vinaigrette was not a vinaigrette, it was a yogurt dressing and did not compliment the salad. The watermelon vinaigrette was mostly water and lacked flavor. Literally the consistency of water - when I took a bite of the salad, dressing flew off the lettuce as if it were water... The turmeric vinaigrette was also watery but had more flavor. The salad dressings need work. The chicken on my salad had no flavor or seasonings. There is no salt or pepper on tables. There was granola bark on my salad that was so stale, you can't use a fork... it didn't work in the salad at all. The French fries are absolutely awesome, that is the main reason for my three star review. Also, my friend enjoyed her tri tip sandwich, but wasn't blown away. Waitresses are kind, but not attentive, and our food took forever. There was a waitress cleaning the windows while I was choking on my chicken because my water had been empty for 15 minutes. Groups that came in after us received their food before us but ordered similar meals. The bathrooms were dirty, the sinks had dirt and hair in them. There was NO toilet tissue OR toilet seat covers in my restroom stall. There seemed to be about 6 or 7 people working (Sunday between 12 and 2:00pm), and most of the restaurant was empty, yet as a customer I felt overlooked and the bathrooms were unclean... I waited to visit this location to give them time to work out the kinks, but there is still work to be done. Wanted to love it, but I don't think I'd go back. read more

First time back since they updated the menu and there are some great additions. We tried the sliders at the recommendation of our server and we loved them! This place reminds me of some very modern and trendy high end places I've visited on the coast and down south. The inside is very bright, music going in the background and plenty of seating. The out door patio is pretty cool to, only draw back is that it's right next to a drive through line that they tried to block out with a wood wall. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. She recommended the coffee martini which everyone absolutely loved. We ordered the samosas which were really tasty and the charcuterie board which had some great snacks to nibble on. I ordered a patty melt minus the onions which was really really good but the fries are what really surprised me. They are more like potato wedges with a seasoning I've never had before but will absolutely want more of. I like to give second chances, I know places have off days so we went back today to try again at Harrington house. Service was better, we sat at the bar so we had the more immediate interaction with the bartender and not a regular table waiting server. The food still took a while to come out, not horribly long but a little long for a salad and sandwich order. We enjoyed the patio bar seating on a nice sunny day that wasn't too warm. We had the caesar salad with chicken and the Nic's cali cut and my husband had the mango margarita. I had a sip of the margarita and it was yummy, not too sweet, perfectly tangy and pretty strong. I also tried his tritip sandwich which was very flavorful. Very unique tritip seasoning with Indian flare. My husband loved it. I had the chicken Caesar salad. I loved the croutons! Such a great Indian spice flavor on the croutons and the chicken. Such a fun food experience to have little hints of Indian flavor in American and California style classic dishes. Harrington House. It's A Vibe! I enjoy the feel of walking into Harrington House and walking out of Bakersfield. This restaurant is much needed for the cultural growth of Bakersfield. It is beautifully structured and decorated. My favorite part is the bar off of the patio. The indoor out door feel is nice during this time of the year. The staff is kind and visually neat. The owner is friendly, approachable and a kind soul that is about her business in a loving way. As a Chef I enjoy going into a restaurant and seeing the flavors reflect the owner's perspective / take of their favorite dishes. Harrington House, You did it. I ordered the Oh That Toast (Avocado Toast) the colors, the flavors and the freshness gave me a farm to table flare. The sourdough brad was airy and slightly thick, toasted on one side, topped with fresh avocados, pickled red onions, radish, scattered egg yolks, sprinkled with feta and dusted with a full body curry powder. My daughter ordered the bagel sandwich with chicken. She gave it two thumbs up. Yes, I tasted that too. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Juicy and seasoned well just like we like it. This is a spot you must try. It is where India meet America and we all eat, laugh and get full. Harrington House, Thank you for bringing your version of Indian, American food to Bakersfield. My wife, mother in law, and I decided to try the new Harrington House for a Saturday morning brunch. After circling the parking lot a few times, we found a spot and walked inside to find a bright, cheerfully decorated restaurant with similar motifs as The 1800 or Smitten. The people surrounding us were what you would find in one of those restaurants as well (picture groups of six girls wearing identical outfits sitting around tables full of discarded mimosas playing with their phones and saying things like "YAAAASSS", etc.). We were greeted by a friendly hostess who, after a brief wait, walked us through a maze of seemingly disorganized furniture and to a 4-top near the bar. I found the seats to be comfortable, but the restaurant was very loud with clanking glasses and slurred conversation. It was clear to me that this was not a restaurant and bar so much as a bar with food. Our friendly waitress provided us our menus, and we each saw the typical fare common with places like this; bacon and eggs, breakfast burritos, biscuits and gravy, etc. I eventually settled on the "A.Y.A.P.O.S." Burger while my wife selected the breakfast burrito, and my mother in law went with the biscuits and gravy. None of us were in the mood for a cocktail this morning, so I asked for an iced tea. Our lovely waitress informed me they don't carry brewed tea but offered a raspberry flavored tea instead. I begrudgingly accepted. As we placed our orders, I asked what the letters in my burgers' name stood for. Our server paused briefly before she informed me it meant, "Are You A Piece Of Shit?" I was a little taken aback by this. Why would one name anything on their menu this? After about 25 minutes our food arrived and at that time, each of us detected an odd aroma. My bacon cheeseburger, my wife's breakfast burrito, our accompanying french fries, and my mother in laws biscuits and gravy were all prepared in what appeared as the usual way, but they ALL tasted and smelled like curry powder. I had seen a drink on the menu called the Punjabi Toddy, hinting at the restaurants Indian roots, but none of us expected everything on our plate to taste like curry powder. I was able to get through my burger but the fries, despite their golden brown color and perfectly crisp consistency were a no for each of us. My wife took one bite of her burrito and sent it back, and my mother in law had about four bites of her gravy. The server was very polite and understanding that perhaps these particular spices weren't to our liking and took the burrito off our check. All in all, I suppose for those that like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing they like. But it ain't our jam. I can still smell that curry and I've since showered and brushed my teeth. read more

Menu items have been changed and it's not the same as online. I read the menu wrong and ended up ordering avocado -no toast and grilled sourdough. The latte was good but not hot when I asked for extra hot. The food was great and the flavor was rich. I loved the sourdough bread. The price for the portion is too high and I was overcharged. The staff was clueless when I explained how she overcharged me for something I didn't asked for. It's great to come at least once a but I wouldn't come back for brunch. Out of 4 people, only 2 were impressed with the food: the Wake and Bake, and the India's Hot Chicken sandwich were really good. I will start with this.... I don't eat eggs ever unless I cook them because every place over cooks the eggs. I saw "soft scramble" on the menu and thought "let's see what they do". They DELIVERED. With a beautifully juuuust undercooked and perfectly salted soft scramble egg in those tacos. That alone gets 5 stars from me. The pork belly was crispy and the tortillas were fresh. I will be coming back often for those tacos. My husband and I split the tacos and the wrap, I'm not a breakfast burrito person but he told me the fries inside were extra good. I didn't get to my half after scarfing 2/3 tacos. Now the important part. Espresso martini is unparalleled. She's exquisite. I don't know what kind of witch magic they're putting in that but it was SO GOOD I had to have two. GET THE ESPRESSO MARTINI!!!! Service was incredible. I don't know what I was expecting when I read others describe it as "Indian-inspired American" cuisine, but after tasting it myself, that's the perfect description. I like spicy food within reason (nothing too intense), and this was the perfect level of heat for me to still enjoy all the flavors going on in these tacos. Pretty disappointed all around with my experience here. Even though the place was half empty, we had to ask someone to take our order after 45 minutes of waiting. (Even with a reservation) The baristas looked shocked when I said no one had taken our order yet, they told us that the bartenders were supposed to be taking our order and serving us. The baristas were very nice and took our order, between myself and the two others I was with, it took an additional 45 minutes just for them to serve us 2 waffles. We were there an hour and 30 minutes by the time we got our food. Not once did any waiter or bartender come up to us until we asked for the check. Thank god they had mobile check out to pay our tab, otherwise we probably would have waited longer to leave. The food... For a brunch menu there wasn't many options and what we did order, was downright disgusting to say the least. We were contemplating sending the food back, but we had already waited an hour and half and didn't want to wait another hour to get food, so we ate barely any of what we ordered. Mind you, the place is over half empty the entire time. The only saving grace was the coffee. It was pretty good, but not good enough for me to return. In the end we left hungry, disappointed, and frustrated to say the least. It was midafternoon and we were hungry, so we turned to Yelp to find a place to eat. Harrington House was close by and had a good rating, so we decided to go there. The restaurant seemed like it was brand new. Everything was clean and shiny. While it wasn't busy, the staff was very helpful and attended to our various requirements with ease. My spouse is vegan so we needed some guidance in placing our order. It's been a while since we were there, so I don't recall exactly what we had for lunch. But I do recall that it was perfectly good. First & last time coming. We were seated by the kind hostess. Besides the hostess, service was terrible. The server came to get our drink order, drinks were brought to our table. We were then left unattended for about 15-20min. The booth adjacent to us had a different server who was coming to check on them every few minutes.
