Gave it a second shot and was still underwhelmed. We ordered 2 meals, brisket & pulled pork. Brisket was more like a shredded deep pit and very salty. Pork was even more salty and the portions were very small for the amount of money. When we opened our bag they forgot the 3 sides of Caesar dressing, which left us with a dry salad... super bummer. I would love to see a restaurant survive in that location! read more

Tried this as I love the one on I-5 shell station. This one disappointed. The one on Coffee road in Bako was , well, no other way to put it--horrible. Brisket was dry as a piece of leather and the potato salad was loaded with onions and could barely eat it. Funny thing is, you don't see any bbq's fired up anywhere. I think they are cooking in an oven or something. I might try again some time. Hate to be negative, but it has nowhere to go but up. read more

I had high hopes for this new Harris BBQ, since Harris Ranch is pretty well known throughout the valley. Unfortunately, the food was very lackluster and somewhat bad. For almost $20, I got a small container of very dry and chewy brisket and just one small side of BBQ Beans, which contained nothing but beans (most BBQ establishments have some type of meat cooked in as well). This was the entirety of the ~$20 meal, no bread, no drink, just some dry brisket and extremely basic beans. You can also purchase some small 4oz sides for about ~$7 each, which would leave a child still hungry. I tried some of the pulled pork, which was OK, but there are only 3 BBQ sauces to choose from (Original, Spicy, and Sweet). It's all very basic and similar, with very little inspiration put into everything. They also sell bottles of their basic BBQ sauces, which are all primarily made with High-fructose corn syrup... I see this as just a quick cash grab by slapping a popular name on low quality BBQ. To end on a positive note though, the service was fast and friendly. read more

Well I haven't slept all night and spent most of the night on the floor of my bathroom after eating dinner here. Then team no sleep my child wakes me up vomiting as well. We both ate something completely different for lunch and breakfast so I know it was this place. Food: ate lunch yesterday. Had a tritip sandwich. it was not impressive. Anyone ordering a tritip sandwich will compare it to Firestone Grill. Harris Ranch sandwich is same price and half the meat. French fries were fresh cut russets and they were good. Firestone Tritip sandwich is an inch of meat on a toasted bun. Harris ranch sandwich is about four slices on a plain roll. read more

We tried it for the first time and we were very impressed, We ordered the chicken with the sweet BBQ sauce and the beef tips with the original sauce, both very good. The two things that were good about our visit was our cashier/server. She was amazing and polite, knowledgeable about the menu. The second thing that was good was the Tri-tip sandwich my wife ordered. The meat was moist, tender and nicely seasoned. The only thing that would have made the sandwich better would for the French roll to have been toasted. The brisket sandwich I got was completely opposite of the tri-tip. It was exceptionally dried out, no moisture whatsoever. There was absolutely no fat on the meat anywhere. The strips were cut about 3/8th of an inch thick but the meat itself was very thin. The brisket wouldn't dare be served in any respectable Texas BBQ Their original BBQ sauce tastes like KC Master Piece. Too sweet and thick for the brisket. The extra crispy fries we ordered came out limp and lukewarm. The is only one indoor high top table to sit at. The outside patio seating is only going to be really hospitable for two months of the year... winter and summer dining is going to be brutal. The bad: The mac and cheese. Don't do that. The meh: The brisket was dry. Just get a side of the sauce, and you'll be fine. The good: The bbq beans. They're a decent balance of sweet and savory in the sauce. As another review says, there is no meat in the beans (not to presume they're vegetarian. Ask firs), but they don't need it. The sweet bbq sauce. Get it on the side because you'll not want too much of it, but it's good when used sparingly. The great: The ribs. They're the best I've had from a restaurant. You get a generous portion for the price, and they're delicious. Order the sauce on the side because they don't need them. Use the sauce for the brisket. The service. Devin J. was solid. Took my order, asked clarifying questions, followed "on the side" requests from one item to another, and answered my questions accurately. This was my first visit, so he's the only employee I've interacted with there, but he was a great face for the place. He's honestly why I decided to write this review in the first place. read more

If I could give Harris bbq zero stars I would, but the lowest rating that I can select is one very undeserving star. This was my first and last time trying this place. Tbh this was the worst bbq I have ever had! The flavor of everything was kinda strange and seemed like the flavors did not agree with my palette, and at times made me feel like I wanted to throw up. Everything was way too salty and the beans were too spicy and not in a good way. I was able to sample all five sides and all of them were extremely unimpressive. Literally EVERYTHING missed the mark and tasted horrible and everyone with me agreed on how horrible the food was. What was most disappointing for me was the oddly tasting bbq sauce. The true test of a good bbq spot is the great tasting bbq sauce and Harris bbq failed miserably at that. I feel like this place needs to consult with a food scientist or someone with some sort of culinary experience because it's evident that whoever created the recipes has no clue what they're doing. I would have to say if you want good bbq, literally go anywhere else in town except here because you will be disappointed. read more

Good BBQ at Harris BBQ! I tried the pulled pork and chicken. Both were delicious, with the pulled pork being juicy and the chicken tender. The BBQ sauce was perfect. The sides were great too. The garlic bread was tasty, and the potato salad was creamy and good. The staff was friendly and helpful. It's a great spot to pick up lunch while you pump your gas or just in the area. We went there when it first opened on a soft opening. Try it out. It was horrible. Them went tried again just to give it a second chance, the same fucking horrible It makes the old barbecue place that was their . Look good that shut down You guys are not gonna last in Bakersfield. I feel the brisket is cooked in the oven and drys it out. Maybe u should look in to a crock pot. U would have all the juices from the meat .Just a suggestion. Cooking tri tip in an oven dries it out . Maybe slice ur try tip a little thinner toast the bun and put a good amount meat in the sandwiches. Make ur own macaroni salad . This was my first visit to Harris BBQ. I ordered on line. The pulled worked, tri-trip, and brisket were delicious. The meat was tender and seasoned well. All sides complimented the meal. Had to give it a try. Total disappointment. I ordered the Brisket and cheese wrap. There was zero cheese, all lettuce and tomatoes and a very small amount of dry brisket. It was large but that size came from 90% Lettuce and tomatoes. Total waste of $. Will not be going back. Pork Chop and Bubbas was a billion times better and they couldn't make there at that location, I can't imagine this place will. They will undoubtedly make a splash on their name but once people realize how bad it is the name won't matter. Stick to the local guys. read more

I have been waiting since they announced the opening of the Harris Ranch BBQ Bakersfield. I was so excited to see that it had opened and we were just coming home from being up north. Sadly we stopped at the Original Harris Ranch Express. There is no comparison. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. I ordered the Pulled Pork Fries. It was ok, my husband had the mac n' cheese. The mac n' cheese was not like the one on 198. The people that have been hired need a little more history lessons, but must say have brains in their heads and are very friendly. I am hoping that some of the recipes will make their way down from Lemoore. I will make another try in a month or so. Will see if food improves. read more

I will chalk this one up to not being open long. I had a tri-tip sandwich and the bread to meat ratio was way off. Tri tip was also dry and tough. The macaroni and cheese was great and the side salad I got wasn't too small. Ribs and brisket was good. read more
